Default Parent featuring Justin Kellough

Default Parent featuring Justin Kellough

We're rolling out the welcome mat for Justin Kellough, the Parenting Cheerleader of TikTok fame, ready to bring a refreshing dose of honesty to the discussion of default parenting trials and tribulations. It's about the beautiful chaos of having more children than hands, because we all know having just two kids is really supervising a mini army of fifteen! Justin opens his heart about his partner's postpartum depression experience, emphasizing how crucial it is for us to spot the signs and stand as pillars of support during these trying times. Navigating the challenging waves of being the 'default parent' and 'default provider', we bare our parental souls. As a stay-at-home mom of three boys, I share the juggle and struggle of balancing parenting duties with personal aspirations, and how to keep resentment at bay. Let's dive into the pivotal role of communication, appreciating each other's roles, and wisely utilizing resources to make our journey a tad bit easier. Together with Justin, we delve into the heavy responsibilities that come with being the ‘default provider’ in a family, highlighting the importance of understanding and negotiating these roles in a relationship. Step right in and let's unravel the complexities of parenting together. About Justin - I am passionate about talking candidly about the things parents never get to talk about. What can we do when we hate parenting? How can we be kind to ourselves when facing the incredible pressure of raising tiny humans? How can we be real about the hard parts of this role without wallowing in self-pity and negativity? I want to help you feel less alone in this, while also offering what meager insight I have about how to keep from losing yourself in this all consuming task. Even when you are at your worst, you’re not a bad person, you’re a parent. Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to the Mommy on the Move podcast, where I take you through an exciting yet challenging roller coaster ride of being a wife of a basketball coach and a mother of three wonderful boys. Relocating has become a significant part of our family's life since my husband began coaching basketball. I'll take you through our journey from the quaint streets of Belgium, Germany, Hungary, and Finland to our eventual settlement in Maryland. And then, yet another exciting transition when we moved to Milwaukee.

I'll also bring to light, the evolving dynamics in work and relationships, and how the modern woman is more independent and empowered to make choices for her family. We'll talk about how crucial open communication and authenticity are in dealing with the complexities of maintaining relationships when your partner is often away. We'll wrap up this episode with an honest conversation about the emotional strain our last move to Milwaukee caused on our relationships and our kids. So buckle up for an engaging ride through the many facets of our life!
