Haley Bufkin is opening up about her diagnosis and journey with postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety in today's episode. Haley is the mother of two, and after her second child was born, she quickly recognized that she was experiencing some sadness and mood changes that concerned her. Haley shared her concerns with her husband and family and immediately sought help from a professional. Today she is actively using tools, working with a therapist, and using her social media platform to share her story. I am interviewing entrepreneur, wife, and mother Tosha Davis in today's episode.  When Tosha first visited a European Wax Center, she knew she wanted to bring a location to the men and women of Lubbock.  Eight years later, she owns two locations and dreams of expanding to other cities.  Tosha talks about what it's like to run a successful business and be a busy mom to two teenage daughters.  She debunks common myths about waxing, gives some valuable tips and tricks, and explains the benefits of waxing versus shaving.  

I am interviewing business owner, chiropractor, and acupuncturist, Lindsey Johnson in today's episode. Lindsey is a mom to three boys, she and her husband own Infinity Wellness Center and Pure Health IV & Optimization, and in early 2022 she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She is sharing her journey through her diagnosis and treatment and how she remained focused and healthy during one of the most difficult times in her life. Lindsey was the 12th person in the country to receive a Single Port Nipple-Sparing Robotic Mastectomy and did cold capping during chemotherapy to keep her hair. Her story will inspire you to slow down, advocate for your health, and mentally and physically show up for yourself when faced with a challenge.

In this episode, I interviewed Dr. James St. Clair from St. Clair and Massey Orthodontics.  Dr. St. Clair breaks down dental orthopedics and the importance of establishing care with an orthodontist at a young age. Like myself, most people think that orthodontics is just about cosmetics and teeth straightening. However, problems within your mouth can lead to airway disruption, chewing difficulties, speech complications, and much more.  Receiving the correct treatment can impact your confidence and your overall health.  My interview with Dr. St. Clair was very enlightening and I wish that I had known many of these things when my kids were younger. In today’s episode, I am chatting with Anna O’Steen and Mary McCabe. These local mamas are opening up a bougie lounge and Montessori-inspired playroom called The Mom Lounge LBK. This cozy and unique space will be a great place to form relationships with other parents and meet up for playdates.  They will offer post & prenatal classes, breastfeeding education, baby signing time, baby yoga, and much more! In today’s episode, I am talking with Kalah Sprabeary. She is a mom to two boys and owns Hub Funding Solutions, a commercial lending company that helps businesses grow and maintain their funding. Kalah is a fierce female business owner who became a mom at 18 and was determined to get through college and provide a future for her family. She has been self-employed since the age of 25 and has persevered through a stroke and building a successful business during a pandemic. Kalah talks about how all of these obstacles have been a blessing because they highlighted her strengths, showed her what she is capable of, and grew her relationship with God and her family.

In today's episode, I am interviewing local mom, Christian Bland.  Christian is a real estate agent and an expert when it comes to property management and investing in real estate.  She purchased her first property at 22-years-old from a tax auction and turned it into a lucrative investment.  Christian explains why Lubbock is the ideal place to buy investment properties and she shares various ways that you can take advantage of the current housing market. 

In today's episode, I got to sit down with local mom, Treva Ellison.  Treva is the Vice President and Executive Director for West Texas Dancing Raiderettes.  She co-founded the non-profit because she is passionate about dance and helping inner-city girls reach their goals. WTDR helps mold productive citizens while impacting the lives of others through youth outreach, health, wellness, and the dance styles of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, and Majorette Dancing.  Treva also wrote an adaptation of Cinderella called The Tale of Cyndi, and the young ladies of West Texas Dancing Raiderettes will get to showcase the production this weekend at Lubbock Community Theatre.  Link for tickets below.

In today's episode, I'm chatting with Lubbock business owner and pastor, Dallas Marley.  Dallas owns multiple food trucks, and he and his wife, own and run Bella Vie Wedding Venue and Events. Dallas and Natalie bought the wedding venue in 2019 and were forced to make some hard decisions when the pandemic started.  It didn't take Dallas long before he was at home "cooking" up ideas for food trucks and a future franchise.  He now focuses on training his employees to be great leaders and is helping to build a new ministry and worship center called The Bluejay House.

In this episode, Denay is chatting with local mom, LaDereka Carter.  LaDereka is a doula, midwifery student, advocate, and entrepreneur.  She owns Carter Comprehensive Birthing Services, which provides full-service Doula Care and personalized support for mothers in West Texas and New Mexico.  LaDereka is passionate about educating women and providing low-income Black women and teens with pregnancy and postpartum care. She created Born and Bread Lubbock, a charcuterie business that helps fund her mission of giving back to women in our community.  

In today's episode, I am chatting with local mom, Stephanie Adkins. Stephanie is a fitness instructor, CycleBar instructor, macro coach, and Zyia rep.  She has a passion for helping women achieve their fitness and weight loss goals.  She coaches her clients through a lifestyle change that allows for grace and adaptability.  Stephanie believes in a mind, body, and soul approach, and shares how her faith has shaped her career.

On today's episode, I am chatting with local mom, Ruth Truett.  Ruth aka #rufuasforreal is a genius in the kitchen who creates simple, whole-food dishes for her daughters and husband.  She also has an amazing green thumb and gives us some great tips on gardening, holiday prep, and not stressing too much when it comes to cooking for your family.

We must take the time to educate our kids about individuals with disabilities. Oftentimes people think that avoiding the conversation or the person is best in order not to offend. In this episode, Denay shares that ignoring a person is the absolute worst thing that you can do.  We must educate ourselves, speak with our children, and ask questions so that we can create an inclusive world.  Denay is offering some advice and resources to help you have this discussion at home.

She advises us, mothers, how to properly engage with our children using coping skills to gain the next level of emotional maturity while not trying to "fix" them.  Stacy also talks about human trafficking in Lubbock, and how we as community members can be vigilant and teach our children awareness.
