In this version of Final Year Interviews, we bring you the story of the ex-President of Clarion and the Chief Coordinator of the Training Committee, who is known not only for her leadership but also for her excellent debating skills and achievements. Having contributed to organizations like the Institute Counselling Services, NITR Alumni Association, and Degree 361, Parul Rath, a final year student hailing from the Department of Chemical Engineering, has overcome multiple obstacles to eventually carve out a career that many will be envious of. Abhisek Agarwal, a final year student from the Department of Chemical Engineering has numerous accolades to his names, internships and placement at distinguished organisations and with his unsurpassable contribution of taking AIChE NITR chapter to the pinnacle, he has set an example for the student fraternity.

Debabrata Panigrahi, a final year undergraduate student from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is the go-to know-it-all guy of NITR. From almost dropping from NITR to receiving tens of calls for interviews for internships and placements, being the Films and Music Secretary at SAC and being one of the biggest contributors of Open Source Software, his story is a true coaster ride the summits of success. Nivedita Biswal, an alumnus of the 2012 batch, made it to the news when she became the first and the youngest Odia woman to be selected for the Antarctica Climate Expedition 2022.

She had been working in the coveted PSU, Coal India Ltd, for nine years when she finally decided to switch careers. Her strong passion for climate change propelled her towards this once in a lifetime expedition. This voyage to the polar territory has put her in the limelight and will give her exciting experiences and the cherished company of several eminent personalities. Vikash Kumar Singh, an alumnus of the batch of 2009 from the Department of Computer Science Engineering, is a fashion and portrait photographer based in London. His works have been published in internationally acclaimed magazines, exhibited in several spots, and have won him several honorable awards.

Sirish Satyavolu, an alumnus of 2014, changed his career path from the conventional engineering path to being one of India's reputed music producers, sound designers for multiple games and songwriters. A philosopher at heart, Sirish is an M.Tech. Graduate of the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Steel Technology (Batch of 2014), who pursued his interests in music, doing an M.Sc. in Music Technology at Georgia Institute of Technology. Dhirendra Mishra and Himanshu Shekhar Dutta from the batch of 1997 came together to pen down tales and experiences from their college life in the form of short stories set against the backdrop of NIT Rourkela. Himanshu Chouhan, an alumnus of Batch 2015 from the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, is the brainchild behind various reputed series like TVF Kota Factory, TVF Bachelors, TSP Awkward Conversations with Parents, DICE MEDIA Brochara and many other prominent projects. He has worked with acclaimed networks like The Viral Fever, The Screen Patti, FilterCopy, Alt Balaji. He's a promising screenwriter, actor and filmmaker in the entertainment industry. Mr. Sabyasachi Patra, an alumnus from the batch of 1992, is an award-winning DP and cinematographer. Having worked in many corporates for 20 years since his graduation, he quit the corporate world and found his place in the world by capturing the moment. Young India Fellowship is a renowned multidisciplinary program provided by Ashoka University. They handpick 200 students from all over India. From the Department of Biomedical Engineering, class of 2018, Archana Rath is currently pursuing liberal studies via the Young India Fellowship. As engineering students from a top-notch college, we are shown a sky full of stellar and sweet careers opportunities. However, certain prestigious careers are far less explored and are famous for being challenging. Squadron Leader Anuj Verma, an alumnus of the 2010 batch from the Department of Civil Engineering, chose an Unconventional Career Path as a Helicopter Pilot in the Indian Air Force. Success and hard work have always been complementary to each other. One such individual who proved that hard work always yields results is Mr. Bijay Kumar Guha, who is pursuing his Ph.D. from NIT Rourkela in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences under the guidance of Prof. Jagabandhu Panda. He was recently selected for the ‘Young Scientist Award’ by the URSI-GASS 2021 panel. Amlan Das, a Ph.D. scholar from the institute as well as an advisor at ICS (Institute Counselling Services), has been a part, parcel, and catalyst of important changes and establishments in the institute. From serving as a senior coordinator to being an advisor at ICS, Amlan Das has been an active part of ICS since 2017 and has seen and brought forth several catapulting changes in the organization. Being a research scholar, Amlan Das has miraculously managed to juggle academics and co-curricular activities smoothly, despite the hurdles and potholes on either path.

Yash Uday Shah, a final year dual degree student of the Department of Chemical Engineering, is a gem at the tussle that NIT Rourkela is. A two-time Academic Excellence Awardee, having interned at IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Roorkee, and bagging the prestigious MITACS internship, Yash has kept on adding accolades to his excellent academic record. His deck of roles spans from being the Technical Head of AIChE to the President of Cognizen and an active campus journalist at Monday Morning, making sure that he leaves a positive remark in each of them. Team Monday Morning is here with the journey of a final year Integrated Master of Science student from the Department of Mathematics whose work ethics and social skills are set as an example for the years to come. Holding myriads of positions of responsibilities such as Placement Secretary of Training and Placement Committee, General Secretary KMS Hall of Residence, NCC C-Certificate Holder, and a prominent member of Synergy (the official dance club), Swadha has interned at a prestigious research centre, including CSIR, Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Simulation and finally has bagged the dream job at Fractal Analytics. Aishworya Roy, a final year dual degree student from the Department of Electrical Engineering is not just a geek with exceptional benchmarks in academics but also an enthusiast holding an excellent record in extra-curricular activities on the campus. Her deck of roles spans from holding the position of Dean’s Nominee for the Literary and Cultural Society of SAC, being the Vice President of Clarion to serving as the Content Coordinator of Microsoft Campus Club and representing NIT Rourkela in swimming at Inter-NIT. Having an inspiring record of prestigious internships like MITACS and interning at RailTel, IIT Hyderabad, PEARS NTU, and Hochschule Aalen, she is currently placed at Fractal Analytics. Sanatan Panda, a final year student from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, has been the epitome of perseverance and the results are apparent. With achievements that transcend excellence, he has been beckoning light for all. He is known to be a guide, a leader, a mentor to all his juniors who have always had their back in their times of lows and highs, standing out for his experience in wide domains of institutional activities. From being the convenor of fests, hall representative, Deans’ Nominee of Film and Music Society to bagging the internships at Apollo, National Chung Cheng University (NCCU)- Taiwan and CSIR, he has been an all-rounder. Animesh is a final year student of the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering who showcases the ability to carry out multiple responsibilities. Apart from being the former Chief coordinator at Monday Morning, he is currently a Placement Coordinator too and has achieved a lot as a debater at Clarion. Taniya Biswas (NITR alumna) and Sujata Biswas, two sisters belonging to engineering and management background have now achieved big in the Indian traditional fashion world with their start-up 'Suta Bombay'. Fascinated by the concept of bicycle construction and keen observation into the mechanism through which nature operates, Abhishek Pramanik, a final year student from the Department of Mechanical engineering, has lived up to his childhood dream of working with vehicles. With the perfect combination of perfection and versatility, Abhishek Pramanik has aced in several domains such as excelling in Academics, captain of Team Roadrunner, and bagging a Pre-placement Offer at his dream company 'Bajaj Automobiles Ltd'. His hard work and consistency have brought highly commendable achievements and prestigious moments for the institute. Debaprasad Badajena, a final year student of Electronics & Instrumentation is undoubtedly a "jack of all trades, master of all" person. From being actively involved in the college elections to pursuing his passion in various domains like Entrepreneurship, Data Science, and Quote writing, he has done it all and has tasted success in each endeavor. He has represented the college at the NIT Conclave at NIT Silchar and as the convenor has led the Innovision Fest of 2019 to a roaring success. The combination of his zeal and perseverance has helped him bag an internship at American Express and then a lucrative job offer at Tata Digital.
