Book of Ephesians- Chapters 1-5 review
We see a common theme when it comes to the Paul’s epistles is that when he is writing his letters he gives doctrine and practical application. In chapters 1-3 of Ephesians we get the doctrinal part and in chapters 4-6 we get the practical application. Doctrinal means teaching or theology. This is theological teachings of the church. The technical terms are called orthodoxy (right understanding) and orthopraxy (right behavior or conduct). My conduct or my practice is informed by my belief. I am going to do what I know. My theology informs my conduct or behavior.
Intertestamental Period Part 2
Intertestamental Period Part 2- A part of the Forerunner series.
Now that we have discussed the comparison between the First and Second Temple Judaism eras, we will turn our attention to the literature of Second Temple Judaism era. Most Christians are surprised to learn that the literature (that informed Jews in the times of Jesus and His Apostles) can be found today in many more sources besides the (Protestant) New Testament Scriptures.
A Summary of the Intertestamental Period
This teaching is a Summary of the Intertestamental Period.
This allowed us to understand that what we know as the dark ages or silent years wasn't so silent. It was very active and eventful during this period. But it was a dark moment for the people of Israel. God’s people who were supposed to influence the world with the teachings of God were now being influenced by the world. We see this pattern constantly in their history and we see the same pattern for the church. This is why learning about the intertestamental period and the history of the Jews so we can understand their thought and pattern. Oddly enough looking at how religion of Christianity have infiltrated the church, we are repeating the same mistakes of Israel.

Many of used to think that the Old testament was not of importance and had no relevance but we are coming into understand that it is so important. We believe that since we are the church and we only need the Old Testament and that is erroneous. You can never understand the New Testament unless you look at and consider the progression, pattern, and unity of the Old Testament scripture. We have to get to a point where we are able to connect things in an appropriate way.
Christology pt. 2 | The Gospels | 7-11
- Learn the definition of Christology
- Learn more about how the Church formed Christological doctrine from the patristic to reformation to modern periods of Church history (from 200-1790 AD)
- Become more familiar with the background to the New Testament
Christology is the systematic doctrine or teaching concerning the Person of Jesus Christ. There are several sub-topics that fall under this branch of theology (i.e. pre-existence, eternality, OT prophecies, incarnation, divinity, humanity, death, resurrection, etc.). Almost from the beginning of the Church-age, a fierce debate began about the Person of Jesus Christ. In fact, the person of Jesus Christ is an essential element of what we (Church) believe to be the gospel of Jesus Christ. Scripture itself confirms this position through the writings of both the Pauline and general epistles.

Chapter Analysis Method | Bible Study Methods | Lesson 8
The Chapter Analysis Method of Bible study picks up where the Book Survey Method of Bible study leaves off. You now have a reasonable grasp of the overall picture of the book, what it means, why it was written, etc. and you are now able to begin to examine the individual items making up the book. The best way of subdividing a book of the Bible is to use the chapter divisions, since these are generally accurate, and to study each chapter in detail. You will examine each paragraph, sentence, and word in a detailed and systematic manner.
The Chapter Analysis Method of Bible study is the second of three methods of Bible study that, together, will give you an extremely comprehensive view of each book of the Bible. These three methods will require the greatest effort on your part but will ultimately yield the best results. Each of the three emphasizes a different aspect of one overall process of study:
Survey (Method 9 - Book Survey Method) - obtain a detailed overview of a particular book of the Bible.
Analysis (Method 10 - Chapter Analysis Method) - study each chapter of the book in great detail.
Synthesis (Method 11 - Book Synthesis Method) - take what you learned in the previous two study stages and put it all back together, drawing conclusions as you go and gaining an appreciation of the whole of the book.
