Episode 143: Why You Should NOT Buy an Electric Car

Key Points

In terms of the environment, developing and building electric cars is more environmentally complex than we are led to believe and the full life-cycle of an electric car has a bigger environmental impact than many people talk about.

50x the weight of the battery has to come out the ground and they have to transport all that overseas etc.

When the battery gets decommissioned as they are consumable eg. cost £20,000 for a Tesla.

The cost of buying an electric car is significantly higher than the diesel and petrol equivalent and it’s no longer cheaper to charge an electric car than to put fuel in a petrol one as cost of electricity has tripled.

The only definite benefit is for tax purposes.
