Special guests, KALONJII CHANGA, activist, organizer, & host of the Renegade Culture podcast and LT COL (RET) MARICO TIPPETT, former AF pilot, financial advisor, & founder of Community Wealth Builders drop by to discuss the benefits & disadvantages of American individualism on the BLACK COMMUNITY. Activist KALONJII CHANGA will probably agree that our AFRICAN ANCESTORS were brought here and not only was our names and history stolen from us as their descendants; but RUGGED AMERICAN INDIVIDUALISM stole the communal nature from us as well and we have yet to adapt. LT COL (RET) MARICO TIPPETT will probably argue that we as AFRICAN AMERICANS are quite capable of adapting and if more of us did, we could COLLECTIVELY succeed in AMERICA despite the OPPRESSION of the past. They both aim to help the BLACK COMMUNITY, but the questions are should we adapt, or can we adapt? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
"POWER TO THE PLAYERS" How ironic is GAMESTOP'S company tagline now? Special guest co-host, Personal Finance Coach, ASHLEY THOMAS, and special guests, 40 year music exec & longtime investor/day trader, JACK PONTI, along with MICHEAL SUTTLAR II, Chief Investment Officer, SC Capital Management drop by to discuss GAMESTOP & SUTTLAR'S article GAMESTOPPED: FREE MARKETS, FREE COMMISSIONS, AND OTHER LIES YOU LOVE. The question of the day is who won, the have or the have nots? Will SEC regulations change due to this? Will ROBINHOOD and other similar trading apps change anything? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A lot of AFRICAN AMERICAN BOYS become enamored with the street life, some out of necessity; but most out of fascination as America has always propped up the villain in POP CULTURE. So much so that when GANGSTA RAP became a part of the HIP HOP genre it helped to push the genre to the number one genre in the country, but as cultural critic, TOMMY BOTTOM's stated in his play EDUCATED GANGSTER the white kids mostly bought it, but the BLACK kids bought into it. Special guest co-host, DASIA ROBINSON and former felon/gang member turned businessman; RICKEY ROSS drops by to discuss how STREET CODES have woven their way into parts of BLACK CULTURE. For example, NO SNITCHING to the police was once reserved for people who chose the STREET LIFE, but now throughout BLACK CULTURE being a snitch whether you chose the STREET LIFE or not seemingly gets confused. Why are artist that come from the street life that consistently rap about harming other BLACK people, MONEY OVER BITCHES, or DONT TRUST ANYONE given so much respect? Last year the the U.S. Government as a part of the COVID STIMULUS RELIEF set up the PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM (PPP) helps businesses survive during the PANDEMIC. Unfortunately, 40% of BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES (BOBs) still closed their doors in 2020, but out the STIMULUS money BOBS only received 2% of the PPP LOANS. With TAX SEASON upon us the government recently approved a 2nd round of PPP loans for businesses and we're bringing in TAX EXPERTS, RONALD BENNET & JUSTIN HEMPSTEAD to ensure BOBs can take advantage of the new PPP LOANS that are available and ensure their TAXES are filed properly whether they received a PPP LOAN last year or not. How do you apply & qualify for the new PPP LOAN? Which PPP LOANS are forgivable? Why did only 2% of BOBs qualify last year? How do businesses avoid SCAMS or ensure they don't accidently DEFRAUD the government? These questions and many more answered on the MENTAL DIALOGUE talk show. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK

TRUMP SUPPORTERS stormed the WHITE HOUSE this week in protest of an allegedly rigged election, but some of his supporters were waiving CONFEDERATE FLAGS and put up a NOOSE at the capital. Should this concern AFRICAN AMERICANS or was activist TAMIKA MALLORY correct when she tweeted "this is not our fight? Special guests, LISA DUDLEY & CHIEF X drops by to explore AFRICAN AMERICANS who are adamant about leaving the U.S to seek more opportunities in AFRICA versus BLACKS who still think their best chance to succeed is still in AMERICA. Are there more opportunities in AFRICA for AFRICAN AMERICANS or should BLACKS figure out ways to succeed in the U.S? Do some BLACKS feel oppressed, but remain because they are afraid to leave the comfort of America; or do some want to leave because they falsely romanticize what living in AFRICA would be like? This week KEVIN KELLEY owner of TRUE KITCHEN & KOCKTAILS was seen on video yelling obscenities towards customers who had been standing on tables in his restaurant TWERKING to MEGAN THEE STALLION's song Body. He approached the customers several time politely before launching into his now gone VIRAL tirade, in which he made it clear that he was attempting to provide a quality & classy location geared for AFRICAN-AMERICANS. Did the four women who initially ignored his request to stop standing on his tables, warrant his PROFANITY laced response as a BLACK BUSINESS OWNER? Was KELLEY forced into the tirade, and therefore was justified; or as a business owner is he still expected to respond with more restraint? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the question America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
BLACK SOCRATES offers his version of a BUYING BLACK MANIFESTO for the BLACK COMMUNITY and invites his audience to not only critic the points in the manifesto, but to ask is it even necessary. Why don't other races and ethnic groups openly campaign in this manner, but AFRICAN AMERICANS do so quite often? Are BLACK people too frivolous with their spending? Do AFRICAN AMERICANS support BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES (BOBs) enough? Are BOBs up to standard to garner the support they need? Are our expectations for BUYING BLACK realistic or too high? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A 30 minute rant between BLACK SOCRATES & RENEE CARTER to how some BLACK BOYS raised by SINGLE MOTHERS, grow up as men and expect too much from the women their lives. Special guest, cognitive behavioral therapist, MARILYN ODUENYI, drops by to discuss men's egos when faced with INFIDELITY. Why do some men have a double standard when it comes to INFIDELITY? Do men and women cheat for different reasons? Are women actually better equipped to deal with INFIDELITY emotionally, or is it forced on them through SOCIAL CONDITIONING to give men a pass? Special guests, ATUARRA MCCASLIN, All of Us Research Center at MOREHOUSE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, and regular clinical trial participant, ALEASA WORD drops by to discuss the distrust AFRICAN AMERICANS have for medical research studies and how that distrust affects our health outcomes. For example, AFRICAN AMERICANS have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 in the U.S., yet there are large portions of the AFRICAN AMERICAN community who openly say that will refuse a vaccine if and when it comes online. DR. ALETHA MAYBANK, 1st AFRICAN-AMERICAN head of the AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, says BLACK participation in clinical trials are necessary for the success of those trials. How can the medical field overcome this distrust, largely from the TUSKEGEE EXPERIMENT, to improve on AFRICAN-AMERICAN participation in clinical trials? Do we need an influx of BLACK SCIENTISTS and DOCTORS entering the medical field to ensure a diversity of studies & trials? What if more studies and clinical trials were led by HBCUs? SIX THE GODDIS, author, The Black Woman's Guide to Reclaiming Femininity, drops by to discuss in the era of the INDEPENDENT WOMAN or BOSS CHIC, how FEMININITY is often lost, along with true POWER. Some women openly express they “DON'T NEED A MAN,” but they would like a companion. Some BLACK MEN even complain about women like this, but fail to understand some women have had to be strong for so long they've forgotten how to express their FEMININE GRACE. For women in this position, can they still learn to use their FEMININITY? Why are BLACK MEN so attracted to it? How does a FEMININE woman stand up for herself? How can FEMININITY attract not only a good man, but play a powerful role in leaving a legacy? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America’s afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK

Special guest, Diversity Consultant, LATRICE ROSS, along with co-host EVE COX drop by to discuss the idea of whether or not America should still be working towards becoming a COLOR BLIND society. During his presidential debate with JOE BIDEN, PRESIDENT TRUMP suggested to the PROUD BOYS, a fringe WHITE SUPREMACIST group, to "STAND BACK & STAND BY." Some AFRICAN AMERICANS were deeply upset by the president's comment; while others suggest it is nothing wrong with having RACIAL PRIDE. If America were truly COLOR BLIND would there be a need for a #BLACKLIVESMATTER vs #ALLLIVESMATTERS debate? How does the phrase "I DON'T SEE COLOR" make BLACK people feel? How does the term BLACK POWER make whites feel? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A 30 minute rant between BLACK SOCRATES & SHELLEY WYNTER to discuss how can BLACK CONSERVATIVES like himself continue to support PRESIDENT TRUMP, even after the President appeared to openly support the PROUD BOYS, a fringe WHITE SUPREMACIST group during his Presidential debate with JOE BIDEN?
After a NEWBORN the health of that child is paramount, however, what often goes unnoticed is the EMOTIONAL & MENTAL WELLBEING of the mother afterwards, and how many never fully recover even with their HUSBANDS, child's father, or mates by their side. In many cases concerned husbands, mates, family, or the woman herself is unaware of how to handle what is referred to as POSTNATAL DEPLETION. Recently within the AFRICAN AMERICAN community there has been an increase amongst BLACKS who refer to themselves and others as KINGS & QUEENS or some goes as far as referring to themselves as Gods. Co-host EVE COX and special guest, DASIA ROBINSON, join the show to discuss if host, BLACK SOCRATES, who does call all of his AFRICAN AMERICAN guests & callers KINGS & QUEENS should continue to do so, especially since some BLACKS do not like the reference, and some are even offended by it. Some suggest one should at least be married since historically most KINGS & QUEENS are and the title should be earned via a standard of behavior versus recognizing all BLACKS as such. Do some BLACK MEN in the CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY use QUEEN as a form of respect, but secretly hoping to lure the woman into SEX or a controlling relationship? Why are some BLACKS still more comfortable with being called a NIGGA or a BITCH over a KING or a QUEEN? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Special guests, DR. SUNDIATA, an Authentic Dialogue Instructor, and ALEASA WORD, a Conflict Resolution Specialist drop by to discuss CONFLICT RESOLUTION, or the lack of thereof, in many AFRICAN AMERICAN families. Ideally most of us want our FAMILY TIES to be strong and when conflict arises the hope is the FAMILY BOND will emerge even stronger. However, in some families the dysfunction is rampant to the point that RESOLUTION seems almost impossible. Is some of the CONFLICT simply a failure to communicate, or how does underlying JEALOUSY or SELFISHNESS block RESOLUTION? Do some family members take advantage of FAMILY TIES in order to ask for FORGIVENESS? Are there times when it is best to take a break or cut ties all together, even from family? When is it best to seek outside counseling or THERAPY? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT THINK
A 30 minute rant between BLACK SOCRATES & BROTHER ANHK on the concept of how the Black community best RETALIATES against POLICE BRUTALITY & RACISM. ATTORNEY MAWULI DAVIS, of the Davis Bozeman Law Firm, and one of ATLANTA'S top CIVIL RIGHTS LAWYERS, along with special guest, MARIA LLOYD drop by to discuss MASS INCARCERATION and how respectability politics holds us back from properly addressing the devastating role the PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX has on BLACK FAMILIES. Lloyd's father, MARIO LLOYD, is currently fighting for executive clemency to have his LIFE SENTENCE commuted after serving 31 years in prison for a NON-VIOLENT DRUG offense. As we highlight the Lloyd family's fight for their father's release, it begs the question why wasn't he and more like him released when PRESIDENT OBAMA was paroling non-violent drug offenders? With over 500K BLACK FATHERS currently locked up in the prison system do either of our guests think the 1st STEP ACT signed by the TRUMP administration will help curb recidivism and keep those fathers who return from prison home? What priority should be placed on MASS INCARCERATION when we ask politicians to provide their BLACK AGENDA? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK

Our special guests politicos, ERMINA HILL, APRILL SHINES, LEO SMITH, & SHELLEY WYNTER all drop by to address the real concerns as well as the made up concerns about HARRIS. Is she truly a progressive candidate that will fight for the rights of AFRICAN AMERICANS, or is she more in lined with the establishment? Some disparage her for her time as a DISTRICT ATTORNEY, but what is the TRUTH about her time as a DA in OAKLAND? DID she really go out of her way to lock up Blacks, or did she develop progressive programs as DA that actually improve the community? As a congresswoman she also pushed for the study on REPARATIONS, but what is her actual stance? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK

Should the AFRICAN AMERICAN community continue to role with this trend, or are there benefits to MARRIAGE and its purpose that individuals should take a closer look at? If more BLACKS got MARRIED and stayed MARRIED what would that mean for the next generation? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
In the CITY OF ATLANTA for years teenagers have went to intersections to sell water during the summers to raise money or simply make money for themselves. However since the PANDEMIC an influx of youth, including pre-teens, have joined the corners to the extent Mayor KEISHA BOTTOMS addressed the issue and some were even arrested recently for selling unpermitted water. One of our guest, OKEEBA JUBALO, and founder of Young Black Entrepreneurs magazine, interviewed MAYOR BOTTOMS, about the issue of the WATER BOYZ. An official from HELPING EMPOWER YOUTH also drops by the show to discuss their efforts to organize some of the young boys by having them wear reflective gear, cleaning up after themselves, and using proper etiquette to sell their waters. Special guest, JAMES "JAY" BAILEY, CEO & President of The Russell Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (RCIE) drops by MD to provide his insight on the role of ECONOMICS in POLITICS, especially in regards to the AFRICAN AMERICAN community. Some suggest that we've had a CIVIL RIGHTS movement & a political movement, but have fail to back either with an ECONOMIC movement in the BLACK community. We ask BAILEY when voting what should BLACKS expect to get out of it economically? Since America's political system is basically set up to be ruled by the BUSINESS class, do we have enough BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS OWNERS scaled to the degree necessary to effectively influence politics in favor of the BLACK community; or should AFRICAN AMERICANS operate more like ASIAN AMERICANS who seemingly focus on ECONOMICS and very little on POLITICS? This week's CONVERSATIONS W/ SMART PEOPLE series features in the 1st hour (10am-11am) DONALD ATCHISON, founder of Economic Development Ministry which focuses on real estate investing and entrepreneurship. A month ago he and MD show host, BLACK SOCRATES, engaged in a CORONAVIRUS pandemic debate via FB, in which they disagreed on the measures the government took to shut down the economy. ATCHISON believes the government went too far in its push for SOCIAL DISTANCING and is ultimately setting us up to mandate a VACCINE which he plans not to take. However, this did not stop ATCHISON, a savvy investor, from taking advantage of the market by investing in the drug company leading in the CLINICAL TRIALS for the COVID-19 VACCINE. In the 2nd hour (11am-12pm), we are featuring KARRIEMAH MUHAMMAD, Executive Director, Community Council of Metropolitan Atlanta, as she tells us more about her VIRTUAL round table event YOUNG BLACK MEN SPEAK OUT focused on young BLACK MALES ages 18-28. We bring in special guests, Entertainment Lawyer, MICHELLE SIMPSON & boys youth program coordinator, MUSTAFA MAHDI to discuss the MYSOGYNY prevalent in HIP HOP and MONAE'S call to CANCEL HIP HOP altogether. Do the powers that be push these negative messages down our throat solely to make money? Can artist be blame for making music that is a reflection of their lives? What about artist like NIKKI MINAJ & MEGAN THA STALLION do they as women also perpetuate these negative stereotypes? Why doesn't the VIOLENCE & MYSOGYNY in movies not come under the same scrutiny as HIP HOP. If HIP HOP had more balance, would that make a difference? After the killing of GEORGE FLOYD, the MILLENNIALS kicked off a serious of PROTEST around the country, and some turned into RIOTS, to include the burning down of buildings, destroying police cars, & the LOOTING of businesses. MARTIN LUTHER KING famously said "RIOTS ARE THE VOICE OF THE UNHEARD," and although he sympathized with the frustration, MLK was known for his NONVIOLENT strategy during the CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT. Special guest, African-centered educator and owner of the Uhuru Academy, BABA AMIN IMAMU OJUOK drops by to discuss the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of MLK's NONVIOLENT strategy and whether or not KING should be looked at as a PACIFIST or REVOLUTIONARY in modern times. How did MLK feel about BLACK POWER? How should we access KING'S legacy 50+ years later? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
In 1962 Malcolm X, said " The most disrespected person in America is the BLACK WOMAN. The most unprotected person in America is the BLACK WOMAN. The most neglected person in America is the BLACK WOMAN." In 2020 we ask has anything changed or do BLACK WOMEN still feel they are the least protected, even by their own BLACK MEN? Social media shares examples of BLACK WOMEN often fighting or fending for themselves or worse being harmed by BLACK MEN, while other BLACK men stand around and watch. Do BLACK MEN in general fail to hold one another accountable in the protection of BLACK WOMEN? Although other BLACK WOMEN profess the BLACK MEN in their circle are very protective and disavow the idea that BLACK MEN in general are not protectors, why the difference? How do BLACK MEN who are protective feel about this? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK

After the death of GEORGE FLOYD, there's been a fever pitch call from many activists to DEFUND THE POLICE. What does DEFUNDING the police really mean? Guest co-host, CHER'DON REYNOLDS, Sheo of She Prints It, along with our special guests, OSHUN OJOH, community activist, & OKEEBA JUBALO, CEO of Young Black Entrepreneurs (YBE) Magazine & community activist, drop by to discuss the PRO & CONS of DEFUNDING police departments. Do people actually want to get rid of the police? Will DEFUNDING the police make America safer for its citizens, in particular AFRICAN-AMERICANS; or will it cause more anarchy, and therefore making America unsafe? Was PRESIDENT TRUMP'S executive order on POLICE REFORM a step in the right direction? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions Americas afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A 30 minute rant between BLACK SOCRATES & MD member, WILLIAM AGNEW, discussing his social media post "AMERICA is more CAPITALISTIC than it is DEMOCRATIC, RACIST, or HOMOPHOBIC... so when you don’t understand MONEY and you live in America it’s like playing in the NFL never having seen a FOOTBALL #economics"
Guest co-host, CHER'DON REYNOLDS, Sheo of She Prints It, and our special guests, both of European descent, MARK CARMAN, former police officer, and JOHN COSTINO, former co-host of the Race Haven podcast return for this open and honest discussion about WHITE ALLIES. As America is under PROTEST, many WHITES are finally seeking an understanding of what it truly means to be BLACK IN AMERICA. However, many AFRICAN-AMERICANS are asking why now, why this time, as we witness POLITICIANS foolishly donning Kente cloth as they present a POLICE REFORM bill that many AFRICAN-AMERICANS have been seeking for a lifetime. Is this truly reconciliation or simply a ploy to gain the BLACK VOTE through symbolism? Do all whites understand racism enough to end it? Should the President play in bringing the country together? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A couple a weeks ago on the MENTAL DIALOGUE talk show we discussed how our BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES were surviving during the COVID-19 PANDEMIC. Now imagining how beauty salon owners, RHONDA WILKINS & SONIA BOOKER felt after being closed during the SHELTER IN PLACE measures, only to end up with their salons as targets of LOOTING & VANDALISM in the aftermath of the GEORGE FLOYD protest here in ATLANTA. Both are very active business leaders in the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community, so please tune-in to hear their stories and see what measures we as a community can take to help their businesses thrive again. Award winning PSYCHOLOGIST, DR. ROSELYN AKER-BLACK, visits the show to discuss the effects of watching videos of BLACK people being killed on the BLACK PSYCHE. Are these videos TRAUMATIZING for BLACKS? Do these videos inspire some BLACKS to become activist? Why do we share these videos on social media repeatedly, and does it help? Are these videos MODERN DAY LYNCHINGS? When these videos don't lead to a conviction, then what? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the question America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Special guests, Maria Richards & LaTrice Ross, drop by to discuss the psyche of African-Americans finding themselves under the construct of race where the concept of whiteness is the gold standard in America. When PRESIDENT TRUMP campaigned to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, many AFRICAN-AMERICANS could only ask when exactly that was and who's standard are we judging by? Unlike other groups our ancestors were stripped of a great portion of their culture and fought long and hard to be counted as natural citizens of this country. In their efforts to be GOOD AMERICANS they ultimately tried to meet that standard, and we, as their descendants, subconsciously strive to meet that standard today. Unfortunately for the last 400 years that standard has been WHITE, and while the idea of COLOR BLINDNESS sounds good, it can be quite detrimental when one race is completely celebrated throughout American history and the others basically reduced to HIDDEN FIGURES in that same history. Is it time finally time for BLACKS to learn how to be AMERICANS without chasing the standard of WHITENESS? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Are AFRICAN AMERICANS still victims of AMERICA'S OPPRESSION or do we PLAY THE VICTIM and hold ourselves back from America's opportunities? Special guest co-host, JANELLE KING, also co-host of TV's Georgia Gang, helps us moderate the discussion with returning guests, CBS Radio host, ROBERT PATILLO, and, SHELLEY WYNTERS, host of the Shelley Wynters Show. If the VICTIM MENTALITY is true, how does it hold us back as AFRICAN AMERICANS? If it is not true, what can we do about SYSTEMIC OPPRESSION beyond protest? Some BLACK MEN think there are plenty of BLACK WOMEN who are unable to deal with a GOOD MAN in their life. Do some women say they want a good man, but treat them like all the others, or sometime even worse? Do some GOOD MEN take advantage of the fact that they are seen as commodity? Whenever America catches a cold, it often said BLACK AMERICA catches the flu. This sentiment holds true as AFRICAN AMERICANS by far have been hit the hardest by the CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. Initially there was an urban legend that BLACKS could not contract the virus, but as it spreads across the U.S. some BLACKS are now asking are AFRICAN AMERICANS being targeted. Many AFRICAN AMERICANS say they will refuse a VACCINE for COVID-19, if one comes online, amidst past fears that VACCINES have been used to give BLACK boys AUTISM. BLACKS will often site conspiracies such as the TUSKEGEE EXPERIMENT, HIV & AIDS, or the WAR ON DRUGS and POLICE BRUTALITY as more proof that America has a death wish for the AFRICAN AMERICAN community. Is America trying to kill us, or is this fear driven by America's history of racism leaving OUR community stagnate and mentally impotent? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. One study shows WOMEN'S INFIDELITY has increased by 50% over the last 20 years, although it is often said men cheat the most, but women cheat smarter? In 2020 is this a myth, or have women caught up to men when comes to INFIDELITY? If you ask the public what is a POLYAMORY you typically get an array of unsure answers that sound more like questions like, isn't that a woman with TWO HUSBANDS, or isn't that illegal in the U.S., or is that SWINGING? This week special guest, DR. SUNDIATA attempts to provide clarity by descriging his own transition into full acknowledgement of his own POLYAMOROUS life, after an 11 year MONAGAMOUS marriage that included children, and ended in DIVORCE. Throughout 2019 various well known African-Americans, such as comedian STEVE HARVEY, rapper LUDACRIS, and real estate mogul JAY MORRISON highlighted their visits to GHANA, dubbed THE YEAR OF RETURN; in part, because it marked the 400 year anniversary of enslaved Africans being brought to the shores of what is now known as the U.S in 1619. Leading up to the YEAR OF RETURN, the GHANAIAN government highly encouraged AFRICAN-AMERICANS to visit, do business, buy land, or even repatriate back to GHANA. DR. BOYCE WATKINS recently visited and encouraged other AFRICAN-AMERICANS to do the same, while ANTONIO MOORE of TONE TALKS suggested the YEAR OF RETURN is a hyped up marketing ploy to increase GHANAIAN tourism with no long term effects towards bridging the gap between AFRICAN-AMERICANS and AFRICANS. Special guests, Ghanaian immigrant, FRANK ASSANTE & African-American, VARIAN "CHIEF X" XAVIER, both recently return from separate trips to GHANA and drop by to discuss TRUTHS & MYTHS about the YEAR OF RETURN. If there is, in fact, not a current GENDER WAR going on in the AFRICAN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY, the blame game between BLACK MEN & WOMEN is unfortunately never ending. On THE REAL talk show, LONI LOVE suggested that BLACK MEN in general don't know how to have healthy or faithful relationship. CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD of the BREAKFAST CLUB retorted that is not a factual narrative since BLACK MEN DON'T CHEAT. Both SEXES seem to enjoy telling the other what they can do to be better, without holding their own gender fully accountable for their own actions. Why have phrases like "Niggas Ain't Shit" or "Can't Trust A Bitch" become common vernacular inside certain groups of Blacks? Or is the resurgence of AFRICAN-AMERICANS adoring their own beauty and encouraging BLACK LOVE, proof that the media constantly feeds into negative stereotypes hoping to manufacturing discord between BLACK MEN & WOMEN that is not real? Up until recently MARRIAGE RATES have steadily declined in the U.S. for the last 50 years to the point there are those who suggest MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER. AFRICAN-AMERICANS, we are often heard stressing the necessity of practicing COLLECTIVE ECONOMICS, but WHY? In the U.S. no other race seems to openly campaign to buy within their RACE, ETHNICITY, or CULTURE. Has the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community itself gotten past the issue of COLORISM? A few years ago KENDRICK LAMAR intentionally chose DARKER MODELS for his Poetic Justice video, but that was viewed in the HIP HOP industry as going against the industry norm. In the past LIGHT SKINNED BLACKS were deemed to have more privilege than their darker peers, which often lead to different degrees of envy (i.e. WILLIE LYNCH). However has the recent movement to highlight the beauty of MELANINATED people gotten rid of this type of envy? If so, why are SKIN BLEACHING creams considered BEAUTY products and why are they so popular in AFRICAN countries? .MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. In the 2nd hour (11am-12pm), we are featuring spoken word artist, self-proclaimed FEMINIST, and sometimes co-host of the MENTAL DIALOGUE talk show, SOUL SCRIBE. We explore this Queen's Love for the spoken word and why she sometimes refers to herself as a FEMINIST. We definitely will discuss how she puts with up host, BLACK SOCRATES, whenever she is on the show, especially since he rarely has anything good to say about FEMINISM. Some were surprised to find out about JAY-Z's recent deal with the NFL teaming up for events and social activism, in lieu of COLIN KAEPERNICK's protest and battle with the NFL. They called JAY-Z an opportunist who consistently sells out BLACK PEOPLE for his own bottom line. Others support this partnership as a great opportunity to help those disenfranchised people KAEPERNICK kneeled for in the 1st place. Former ESPN analyst, JEMELE HILL, wrote an article condemning the move, while many are not surprised that First Take’s STEPHEN A. SMITH supports the partnership. Is there a lesson to be learned here, or should we all pause before overly supportive or overly critical of the deal? Please CALL-IN 646.787.1691 and #GIVEUSYOUR3CENTS. "If RACIST WHITE TERRORIST that murder with guns is a MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE is the GUN VIOLENCE in BLACK communities a mental health issue too?" -Cher'Don Reynolds
On this SPECIAL EDITION Monday night show we attempt to answer this question with guest co-host CHER'DON REYNOLDS and CERTIFIED CLINICAL TRAUMA COUNSELORS, ANISHA COOPER, LPC & ROSEHLL HANSE LAPC. When WHITE PEOPLE commit murder even an egregious act as MASS SHOOTING, the media often ask empathetic questions in regards to the MENTAL HEALTH of the perpetrator and rarely ever labels them a TERRORIST. Why are AFRICAN-AMERICANS involved in GUN VIOLENCE typically seen as unredeemable menace to societies? How does this seemingly double standard play out in the BLACK COMMUNITY? The FEMINIST MOVEMENT over the last 50 years has recruited BLACK WOMEN, whereas historically they were just fine with RACIAL INEQUALITY. Co-host, DIVERSITY expert, LATRICE ROSS, and special guest, relationship expert, MALAIKA WELLS drops by to discuss the FEMINIST MOVEMENT'S relationship with WOMEN OF COLOR. WHITE FEMINISTS are quick to espouse EQUAL PAY & #METOO, but often are oddly silent when BLACK WOMEN have issues that include the intersectionality of RACE. Some argue the movement is used to divide BLACK MEN & WOMEN, while others suggest that argument is used as an excuse not to provide GENDER EQUALITY. Which is it? A man once asked MARCUS GARVEY whether he was AFRICAN or JAMAICAN. He said, "I would never give up a continent for an island. I am an AFRICAN, today, and for all of tomorrow." Yet for all of Garvey's great work, not only do AFRICANS & BLACKS in the Western hemisphere seem divided, but CARIBBEAN BLACKS & AFRICAN- AMERICAN cultures, despite some similarities, also seem to suffer from the same riff, WHY? Does WHITE SUPREMACY pit the cultures against one another? Are the values similar enough or too different to come together? What about economically & politically? Does the resurgence of U.S. REPARATIONS for American Descendants of Slaves (ADOS) add angst to this divide or do CARIBBEAN BLACKS understand the distinction? REPARATIONS is the new buzzword in politics, especially after the Congressional hearing on HR-40 to discuss whether or not to bring forth a commission to study REPARATIONS. Beyond whether or not REPARATIONS are due, some have asked what about AFRICA's role in their willingness to sell other AFRICANS during the TRANS-ATLANTIC ENSLAVEMENT TRADE. Our special guest, CBS Radio Host, ROBERT PATILLO, drops by to discuss exactly what role AFRICANS played in the selling of AFRICANS and their responsibility in regards to U.S. REPARATIONS. Can a couple get past DOMESTIC VIOLENCE? What about a ONE-TIME INCIDENT? Special guests, psychotherapist DR. KATRINA PITTMAN drops by to discuss this subject from all perspectives. In the first hour, we also feature a man who in his teenage years thought it was OK to hit women, but after having THREE DAUGHTERS himself he had a complete change of heart. Special guest co-host SOUL SCRIBE drops by the show to discuss DATING and significant AGE GAPS. What is the biggest age gap you ever had in dating? JAY-Z actually started dating BEYONCE when the singer was just 19 and he is 12 year her senior; and now they're married as HIP HOP'S POWER COUPLE. Is there a difference when the woman is much older? Once you are legal (18 years old) does it matter if your significant other is significantly older than you (R Kelly clearly doesn't think so)? Is there an appropriate age limit for dating younger or older? Are their scenarios in which someone is taking advantage of the other simply due to age difference? This week's special guests are startup strategist, LANEE JAVET, founder of Mogul in Training Membership and digital marketing and training consultant, SOCIALLY NINA, founder of Candied Bacon Agency as we discuss how not only to stay in business; but rather how to SCALE YOUR BUSINESS now and for the future. AFRICAN-AMERICANS are 50% more likely to start a business than WHITES, but BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS unfortunately fail at greater rates, according to a study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. For all new businesses only 20% on average (1.7M) will make it past four years, and of those less than 1% scale to 100 or more employees (3200) and only 32 of those will be BLACK OWNED. Clearly scalability is a problem for all businesses, but what steps can we take to ensure our BLACK-OWNED BUSINESS survives our lifetime to leave a legacy for the next generation. Are men out to control women's bodies? Is there a fundamental responsibility for society to protect unborn children? What is PLANNED PARENTHOOD'S role in this? We probe MARKUS to discuss his acute focus on RESULTS, and how he uses those results to debunk many of the negative STEREOTYPES used against AFRICAN AMERICAN MEN. We also discuss his idea of BLACK AMERICA as a whole needing to engage in a cultural CIVIL WAR between BLACKS & NIGGAS to determine its future fate. In the 2nd hour (11am-12pm) JULIAN ROSE joins us as he is amid his doctorate studies in BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING at GEORGIA TECH. Now that AFRICAN-AMERICANS are widely accepted at PREDOMINATELY WHITE INSTITUTIONS (PWI) of higher learning there are many Americans who feel it is no longer necessary for HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES & UNIVERISITIES (HBCU) to exist. Special guests DR. DELARIOUS STEWART, an alumnus of SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY & DR. STEPHANIE MILES-RICHARDSON, an alumnus of GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY and current professor at MOREHOUSE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE join us to discuss the viability of HBCUs in 2019. Some of our HBCUs contend with fiscal sustainability, because most don't have the large financial endowments, like some of their PWI counterparts; but, instead rely on aid from the federal government. Despite never attending one herself, BEYONCE recently released her concert film, HOMECOMING, highlighting the HBCU experience in her performance. Is BEYONCE's film the shot in the arm HBCUs need to encourage more AFRICAN-AMERICAN students to attend, as well as receive more financial support from the BLACK COMMUNITY? Should more HBCUs be open to merging with PWIs whenever it makes fiscal sense, or does their historical significance outweigh this consideration? MINISTER LOUIS FARRAKHAN was recently banned from his FACEBOOK account and also a few of the NATION OF ISLAM (NOI) books were banned from AMAZON. Should MINISTER FARRAKHAN be lumped alongside ALEX JONES of INFO WARS and his speech labeled as dangerous? What does this mean for FREEDOM OF SPEECH and others who want to speak their mind? Some suggest AFRICAN-AMERICANS should BOYCOTT and remove all accounts from FACEBOOK. Is this removal a power play by the JEWISH community? One radio host stated BLACKS have set a precedent by applauding CENSORSHIP of people disliked by the BLACK community in general, and therefore are unable to fairly express collective outrage over FARRAKHAN's ban now. Approximately 10%–15% of clinically identified pregnancies end in recognized MISCARRIAGE, a pregnancy loss before completion of 20 weeks' gestation. Clearly for many women this is a tragic loss, although, the men in their lives are typically completely unprepared for this dose of reality when it happens too. We speak with two husbands to candidly express, not only their emotions about the loss, but also their experience supporting their wives afterwards. What toll does it take on their relationship/marriage? Do they become closer or more distant? Do their wives feel like they let them down? How much fear is involved in attempting another pregnancy? Most people are shocked to discover the infamous ONE-DROP RULE that asserted any person with even one ancestor of sub-Saharan African ancestry ("one drop" of black blood) is considered BLACK didn't actually go into effect until the 20th Century in America. PRESIDENT THOMAS JEFFERSON fathered at least six children who were enslaved due to their MIX RACE. Two of them died before adulthood, two were allowed to escape, and two remained ENSLAVED until he freed them in his will. Ironically, all of their descendants identified as WHITE. Fortunately BIRACIAL children are no longer faced with being enslaved or not in this country, but what is their experience growing up? How do they identify if they are BLACK or WHITE? Do they decide for themselves or does society? Can they embrace both? If they identify as BLACK, can they be trusted? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. While polygamy is illegal in the US, there are people who still practice this form of marriage, and there are some in the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community who suggest it can help with nation building specifically for BLACK AMERICA. Do we truly understand the practice of POLYGAMY? Does a polygamist man have to provide for all of his wives? Is polygamy MISOGYNISTIC by nature or can women have MULTIPLE HUSBANDS? Although there are plenty of PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS between men and women that do not include intimacy, but the question is what happens if they add SEX? Will the friendship remain intact? In psychology, Terry Kupers, defines TOXIC MASCULINITY as "the constellation of socially regressive male traits that serve to foster domination, the DEVALUATION OF WOMEN, HOMOPHOBIA and wanton violence". Some suggest as a society we must rid ourselves of TOXIC MASCULINITY as it will help alleviate the RAPE CULTURE that is said to exist among men. However, within the AFRICAN-AMERICAN community some are concerned that there is an agenda behind the term TOXIC MASCULINITY in order to ensure BLACK MEN in particular are devoid of masculinity. With the recent situations with BILL COSBY, R KELLY, & MICHAEL JACKSON have BLACK MEN become the face of TOXIC MASCULINITY? Are some BLACKS skirting the issue to avoid discussing inappropriate behavior that needs to discontinue in the BLACK COMMUNITY? Could it be both? People often say things done in the dark come to light, but in reality that is not always true when it comes to INFIDELITY in relationships. Women often say their intuition will ensure they will know, but that doesn't always mean they will discover it. Men historically have been known to have a double standard, meaning some will cheat on their girlfriends or wives and expect them to remain through their infidelity, but absolutely will not accept it if she cheats. The bigger question is if your spouse or significant other is successfully CHEATING would you rather find our or not find out? What if it was a ONE NIGHT STAND? Comedian KAT WILLIAMS once joked about wanting more haters in his life, because the more you had meant the better you were doing in life. In reality having others who are envious of you can have some real life consequences whether at work, in business, or within a family/friend dynamic. Is BLACK ENVY an additional burden successful BLACKS must navigate in life? In superior/subordinate workplace relationships are Blacks more or less supportive of one another? As the WOMEN'S RIGHTS movement grew legs in the 1950's more American women entered the workforce and the traditional role of the man as the provider has been challenged ever since. Some suggest this issue of being the sole provider has have never applied within the BLACK COMMUNITY since the Black woman has been working alongside the Black man since enslavement. Others argue the cycle of SINGLE PARENTS homes has produce a generation of AFRICAN-AMERICAN men who no longer look to be PROVIDERS within the family unit.
