In their final outing for the year, mum and son head out to watch Little Women on Boxing Day. Seeing an adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic story feels like a Christmas tradition, but how does Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan's take on the material compare to earlier renditions? Does it still have that festive touch? And will there be a festive ice cream flavour on hand?

Mum likes a cosy drawing room murder mystery, so Son dutifully takes her to see 'Knives Out' – director Rian Johnson's homage to the star-studded Agatha Christie adaptations of the seventies... and perhaps his opportunity to get back on solid ground after his lacklustre Star Wars movie. Mum and son venture out for Emma Thompson's festive rom-com 'Last Christmas' to see if Emilia Clarke can bring the seasonal cheer when she's not roasting innocent children with dragon breath. Mum and son brave the painterly coming-of-age drama The Goldfinch, despite its largely negative critical reaction and poor box office in the U.S. to see whether this adaptation of a Pulitzer prize-winning novel starring the likes of Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman, Jeffrey Wright, Sarah Paulson, Finn Wolfhard and Luke Wilson can really be as bad as the press has made it out to be. The results will surprise you! Caution, this episode contains no Gary, but there is a new ice cream flavour...

In a special two-sons edition of Movies With Mum, we're joined by Gary as we go on a quest to the moon, Mars and finally Neptune with Brad Pitt as he tries to resolve his daddy issues in the new space epic, Ad Astra. After a mini-hiatus caused by a combination of lack of tempting movies, busy schedules and maladies, the dream team returns to sample the new adolescent stoner sex comedy, Good Boys, and hopefully a new line-up of ice creams. It's Easter! And unusually for a holiday weekend in the UK, the sun is out. Full of the vigours of Spring, Mum and son venture out to watch youthful animated film Missing Link from Laika.
