A Moment to Breathe
When community members are asked to name a nonprofit, they so often first think of the nonprofits providing emergency or trauma response services. Many nonprofits are stepping in to some of the worst times in a persons life to support them and love them through it. And the people providing that service are just that... people. They are standing on the front lines baring witness to the trauma. In honor of mental health awareness month, we are sitting down with Kristi Edwards, CEO of Centers for Children and Families, to discuss the impact of this work on the nonprofit staff member.
This episode focuses on practical, non-clinical solutions and responses. If you or someone near you needs support, there are a variety of clinical support resources available. Centers for Children and Families provides services for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, marriage problems, divorce, blended families, family conflict, domestic violence, abuse/neglect, grief/loss, parenting concerns, and behavioral problems in children. Mr. Media
The nonprofit sector is all about relationships. Relationships with clients, other nonprofits, funders, donors – are all part of what makes a nonprofit successful. There's another important relationship that sometimes, we just don't know where to begin building – and that's with the media. Newspapers, radio, local television, they all play a big role in helping nonprofits tell their story. In this episode, meet Craig Stoker, known by some as Mr. Media and by others as Communications and Public Relations for the West Texas Food Bank.
