57: The WHO Of Leadership

57: The WHO Of Leadership

Our identity is the single most significant factor that determines our leadership potential. It's easy to focus on the 'what' of leadership - the tactical successes, the results you are trying to achieve - but ignoring who we are limits our ability to create tangible impact. Reflecting on ourselves and understanding how our unique perspective has shaped our experience can help us move beyond stagnation in any professional development journey. As leaders, it's essential to recognize that no two approaches will ever be exactly alike; progress comes from embracing your traits and leveraging them to drive effective change. By acknowledging the creativity and value of who you are, improving your leadership can become both a possibility and a reality.

In this episode, Emily discussed how we could lean more into WHO God created us to be as we lead others.

56: Leading from Trust

56: Leading from Trust

When we look at the word trust often used in scripture, we see a very different picture of what it means to trust in God. For many of us, we think that to trust God, we have to be fully confident in that moment, but we see that our trust comes from a place of desperation so often. It's okay to be in that place and it's okay for us to lead from that place. God wants us to release what we are holding onto and have open hands to hold on to Him.

55: Leading from God's Promise

55: Leading from God's Promise

It's easy to lose sight of God's purpose and promise in our life when we are in the middle of a crisis or chaps surrounding us. In today's episode, we walk through a Psalm that promises that God's purposes will always prevail. When we keep our eyes fixed on him we will see these things come to pass.

54: Leading From God's Love

54: Leading From God's Love

There's never enough time to talk about God's love. It's big, everlasting, and so much more than we could ever fully comprehend and yet he reveals more and more of his love to us so that we can receive it, rest in it, and reflect it to others.

Leadership has so much to do with God's love. It helps us love Him better, ourselves and others. When we lead out of the place of His love there is always transformation.

Listen in and let the love of God permeate the places of your life that need more of His love.

53: Leading from Longing

53: Leading from Longing

We all have longings and desires in life, in fact, we were made to crave, to "long for". It's scientific and biblical. It's part of being human. It's purposeful and yet it can be dangerous. If we are not longing for God we fill the desires or longings in our life with other things. Things that distract us and ultimately can derail us. When we live & lead from a place of longing for God we find satisfaction in life.

Today's podcast will walk us through leading from a place of longing.

52: Leading from Soul Rest

Hey friend, it's been a while! Thanks for being here. In today's episode, I share a bit about my journey over these last 8-9 months and what God has done in me. I'm always a work in progress but isn't that the beauty in it? God can make us more like him. Journey with me over 6 sessions as we dive into Psalms and refocus our leadership to those unseen hidden places. The most powerful and purposeful place of leadership is a posture before God! Let's start there.

51: The Power of Prayer

51: The Power of Prayer

In today's episode, I have a special guest with me! Someone who I am so honoured to introduce to you and has played a huge role in where I am today because of her prayers - my mom, Karen Clarke.

I asked my mom to come on and speak on this episode because I have seen how her commitment to prayer has changed her life and the life of those around her. She is a great example of someone who believes in the power of prayer and models a life that lives by that belief. This is such a great way to end this series on Endurance. What better way to build our leadership endurance than through prayer and communion with God.

POEMS MENTIONED:

"I became impatient when God's answer to my prayer was "Wait!" But He helped me plant and harvest other crops as seasons came and passed, and each left rich deposits in the soil of my life. God's time evolved at last, and the gift I asked for long ago was granted. It flourished now in soil enriched and mellowed through the years. Then I understood why God had answered, Wait."

"I knelt to pray; head bowed, eyes closed, hands folded, knees bent. But prayer did not come. My proud and independent heart, defying man's humility and need, stood still unbowed in the presence of God. And I could not pray until my heart knelt too."

- Excerpt from the book "My Heart Kneels Too" by Carolyn Rhea

50: I Need More Patience!

50: I Need More Patience!

Patience is a common character trait we talk about but it goes undervalued in its importance on how we live our lives and lead others. Patient endurance is what God calls us to in order for us to receive His promises.

So often, where God is taking us only comes after what feels like a very long process, but how we respond, and what happens inside of us during that process is crucial for our growth.

Listen in to today's episode to hear ways we can patiently endure life's most difficult seasons.

49: True Humility

49: True Humility

Did you know humility is rated one of the top leadership qualities?

Humility isn't a sign of weakness but rather it's a sign of strength and when we lead humble lives people see that strength. It can be easy to forget humility as we rise to the top in leadership but James reminds us in chapter 4 that those who live humble lives are those most connected to God.

In this episode of Building Your Leadership Endurance Emily gives you four practical ways to be a leader who leads with humility.

48: Leading With Wisdom

48: Leading With Wisdom

Leading with TRUE wisdom is like what they call an S.S.O.T in the business world. A "Single Source of Truth".

When you are working with different systems that hold a lot of information and data it's important you know which system is your single source of truth. Why? Well, it's so that you can make important and informed decisions based on accurate and correct information.

To lead with wisdom it's important to ask what or in this case WHO is your single source of truth?

The only way to lead with true wisdom is to align your life with God's word and God's truth. Then you can filter the information coming at you and both lead and live with pure motives and a humble heart - the requirements for wisdom.

47: The Power of Your Words

47: The Power of Your Words

"And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It can set your whole life on fire." - James Chapter 3

Do our words hold that much power? James warns us enough to believe that they do. So, if our words have the power to destroy they also have the power to build up.

As leaders, we must learn that both WHAT we say and HOW we say it can have an impact on the people we lead.

Are we negatively or positively impacting them? Are we using our words to affirm or to cause pain? To speak life or death? That's the power our words have. If that's true then we must learn how to be slow to speak and quick to learn and discern. The same is true in how we speak to ourselves.

Join us today as we discuss learning to discern our words and use them to bring comfort and encouragement to others!

46: Mercy Triumphs Over Judgement

46: Mercy Triumphs Over Judgement

Mercy is to show kindness or compassion to someone, even to those undeserving. As Christians, we are called to show mercy as we too have been given mercy.

James gives a very clear warning in Chapter 2 that to ignore mercy and make judgements or assumptions of others would not go over well for us.

So, what does this mean for our life and leadership? Many of us skim over verses like this with the thought that we don't have any prejudiced thoughts toward people, and yet we have all probably found ourselves at some point holding on to offences, grudges and assumptions toward others.

God calls us to be people and leaders who extend Mercy, loving-kindness and compassion toward each other.

Listen in as we discuss the importance of showing mercy to one another and how that keeps us running this race well.

45: Transformational Life

45: Transformational Life

In the second episode of our James study, we look at the second part of chapters 1 and 2 to discover the keys to a transformational life. As Christians, we are called to not just do and lead out of obligation but out of a life that is transformed through God's word.

Listen in to hear how we can live a more impactful life as we lead others.

44: Strengthen Your Faith, Build Endurance

44: Strengthen Your Faith, Build Endurance

Right at the beginning of James 1 he starts off with "Consider it pure joy when you face trials". What a way to start the chapter! As we continue to read we see an emphasis placed on both faith and endurance as vital ingredients for overcoming trials. In fact, strengthening our faith and building endurance are the very reasons that James tells us to consider it joy

Could our trials and hardships be the very thing we need to build our leadership endurance?

Tune in to today's podcast to hear why faith AND endurance are needed in leadership and how we can strengthen both!

43: Do You Live By Faith or Fear?

43: Do You Live By Faith or Fear?

Fear isn't an emotion we should fear. In fact, fear is a natural and normal response. It's an emotion that can warn us against danger. Fear becomes unhealthy when we let it consume our life or hinder us from moving forward.

God did not give us a spirit of fear, rather he gave us one of sound mind. We often feel stuck when we let fear win in our life. It's time to take back our life and live with unwavering faith and trust in God.

In the last episode of our Reclaiming Your Life Series we talk about one of the main obstacles to living our full potential and how we can work through our fear to a life of faith!

42: Where do you start?

"Where do I begin?". This is the question I hear so often when people have gone beyond the discovery and development phase and then get stuck. The activation phase of our dreams and goals can leave us feeling like there's a large staircase in front of us. We know we need to get to the top but are overwhelmed by how far away it feels.

So, ow do you we get there? One step at a time, one day at a time

On today's episode we talk about how starting small propels us to finish well!

32: Leading by Faith w/Sajanth Mohan

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Leadership without faith is like vision without a mission, you might see it but you won't go anywhere. True leadership requires faith because it will take us beyond our comfort zone and beyond ourselves. We will be required to take steps we never saw or expected, or may not even understand, but that's where rely completely and fully on God. He can do more than we could ever imagine.

Sajanth Mohan, Founder of the School of Evangelists and Faith In Action shares with us his testimony of how one women's faith changed the trajectory of his whole family's life. Now there is no turning back for him. He is consistently stepping out in faith believing God has more for him than he ever thought possible!

31: A Life of Surrender w/ Melinda Estabrooks

God has called each one of us for a unique purpose. Not one of us is without gifts, and not one of us is without opportunities to use those gifts towards our purpose. That being said, our response must come from a place of surrender - a surrender to God's will for our lives. It's in that place, that God releases us into the fullness of his purposes for us!

In today's episode, Melinda Estabrooks - Host of See Hear Love, shares with us her journey to leadership. It wasn't always easy, but the more she surrendered, the more God used her in even greater ways!
