Multiverse of Badness Comic Book Review
By Multiverse of Badness
Each week, comic geeks Zach and Mike review super-powered folk from the from multiverse of Marvel, DC, and anywhere else! We strive to find the wildest characters and storylines in the history of media (usually comic books) so you don't have to!
Multiverse of Badness Comic Book ReviewApr 27, 2023
Issue 68 - Strange Sports #2 (Dinosaurs racing as horses, men karate fighting on the moon, and playing tennis with a live hand grenade)
Sorry for the short episode this week MoB Squad - I had some PC issues! But hey - we do have a short boi for ya.. and one that didn't get enough love as a free-view on our Patreon! These little mini-episodes are what you can expect along with some other silly Zach and Mike banter all for a monthly price equivalent to ONE fast food soft drink. And while I agree it's damn near impossible to compete with Coke, give us a shot!
With all that said - Strange Sports was a crazy DC comics idea, and we can't help but give love to it...
Issue 1 has some fun stuff, but honestly issue 2 is my fave. Heck - I own a CGC 9.2 rated version of this bad boy!
Check out Mike going solo expanding on these weird, wild tales!

Issue 66 - Peter Parker : Spider-Man #42
Much like Mike this week, poor Spiderman is under the weather. Will it stop him from going to Spring Break and trying to stop.. rogue sand?
..probably not...
Thanksfully, Zach is completely healthy and ready for business on a unique take on everyone's favorite webslinger!

Issue 65 - Strange Sports Stories #1 (with Satan playing baseball against a professional team)
Here we review Strange Sports Strories #1 featuring the devil trying to steal souls via an organized sports game
Oh, and one of Rip Van Winkle's relatives learns to bowl in the most peculiar way (hint - it involves gnomes)

Issue 64 - Jimmy Olson #127 (w/Superman)
Jimmy Olson works to expose the seedy dealings of a landlord, and Superman does.. well.. what Superman does in Jimmy Olson Comics.. absolutely jack squat to help the situation.
Also, we recorded a bonus episode on our Patreon that we are releasing free this week to anyone!

If you like getting some bonus content, we're out there doing our thing on the regs for about a nickel a day ($1.49/month to be precise...)

One of our favorites is back, and (per the usual) he's kicking major booty!
Spoiler alert - no besmirchment of Doop is allowed in our vicinity ever..
Doop is always gonna doop, and he doops mega hard in this episode of our podcast.

Superman got old, but he's always willing to save.. Gotham City? Where's Batman? Here's here.. kinda...
Oh, and we get introduced to 2 musky DNA Dictators
It's a longer episode than usual because.. well.. we have a lot to say about this EXTREME 1995 offering from DC

Issue 61 - Absolute Carnage - Symbiote Spiderman #1
We review a relatively new book for us (2019) but the story starts decades prior when Spiderman' Symbiote suite first came to earth and inhabited some rando judge while he was visiting New York
We also get to revisit one of our favorite burger joints, and get a surprise appearance from a MoB Squad favorite!

Issue 60 - Batman and the Outsiders #1
Mike bought 4 copies of Batman and the Outsiders #1 in 1983 off of the spinner rack assuming he would eventually buy a home with it
In reality, it only afforded him a "fancy" date night dinner with his wife at the Olive Garden 30+ years later
Because Zach is a decent dude, he doesn't insult Mike about this miscalculation, but hey both have a lot of things to say about this Bronze Age DC classic

Before we had the Secret Wars... we had the Marvel Contest of Champions! And boy.. I'm pretty sure we wish we didn't...
All of the Super Heroes in the Marvel Universe come together to compete against one another.. sounds amazing.. but was it?
Zach and Mike break down the details..

Our boy Swarm is back, so you know the fellas from the Back in My Day podcast can't be far behind... we are introduced to an absolutely smoking hot lab assistant, and the typical "hey, let's make a bad ethical decision in the name of science" storyline we have all come to know and love

Issue 56 - X-Men #1 (origin of the X-men as well as Magneto's first appearance)
The X-Men are amazing! Well.. not always.. Yes, they've have ups and downs, but the first issue is.. rough.
But at least we get Marvel Girl and Magnet... and Iceman.. in boots!

Ok MoB Squad - we planned on ending our break for the Christmas episode... but we kind botched that so.. now you get the Christmas episode one month late..

Issue 54 - X-Terminators #1 (Dazzler, Jubilee, Boom-Boom, Wolverine)
Season 2 of the Multiverse of Badness podcast is starting off with a boom - or more accurately a Boom Boom.. and a Dazzler, Jubilee, and Wolverine to boot!
We review the new Marvel X-Terminators #1 premier issue!
Issue 53 - Magpie (Superman Man of Steel #3)
We've been doing this for a year - Thank you MOB Squad! And, not to brag, we're getting even better at picking weird stuff! This issue, we review an issue that rewrote the history of Batman and Superman's introduction and, more importantly, introduces us to another "John Byrne Special" : Magpie! How does that name come about? Pull up a chair... or don't.. because it's ridiculous. But we're gonna have a good time talking about it anyway!
Issue 52 - Rainbow Raider (Flash #286)
Issue 51 - West Coast Avengers #46 (intro of the Great Lakes Avengers)
It can be hard to keep up with all the Avengers teams without a scorecard. Fortunately, Mike and Zach invite on an awesome guest (Josh from the Talking SMAC podcast) to help them work things out!
Smack dab in the middle of John Byrne taking over the comic and Hawkeye living in a scummy hotel after being released from the team, we get are introduced to the oddly entertaining Great Lakes Avengers. Sorry no Squirrel Girl, but being introduced to the wonky group of Mr. Immortal, Doorman, Flatman, Big Bertha, and Dinah Soar are probably enough for any one person to digest!
Issue 50 - X-Men #159 (including Dracula)
Issue 49 - WWE Seth Rollins comic (w/Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley)
Issue 48 - Justice League America 86-88 (1994 w/Dreamslayer and a grunge Superman)

We are joined by What's Shaking with Shaner host Shane to review a comic from a uniquely Asian American point of view in regards to relations between Japan and China prior to and around the time of World War 2.
Issue 43 - Brother Power the Geek (Brother Power The Geek #1)
The best comic book creators are willing to take risks. Regardless of what you think about the character introduced in this comic, he is undoubtably one of the wildest DC inventions ever. This week, Zach and Mike invite on professional streamer / comedian Pap Glitch (aka Chris) to help dive into the man, the myth, the legend : Brother Power the Geek!
Issue 42 - Skrull Kill Krew (v2) and the consequences of eating tainted Skrull meat
Issue 41 - X-Men 244 : Jubilee and the X-Gals visit the strip club
Love her or loathe her, Jubilee is an X-Men legend at this point. Stew from the cool AF Stew World Order podcast joins Zach and Mike this week to dicss he first appearance, as well as her tussle with the pesky mutant hunting, Ghostbusters jock riding M-Squad. Oh - and Dazzler talks the other female X-Men into taking a shopping spree and she also purchases some strippers.. it's as off the rails as it sounds...
Issue 40 - Daredevil vs Leap-Frog (Daredevil #25)
Issue 39 - Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe
Before Preacher.. before The Boys.. Garth Ennis wrote a Multiverse variant where The Punisher kills the Marvel Universe...
It's everything you expect from Garth, and Mike and Zach are here to review this wild ride!
Issue 38 - Cannibal Billy and his famous siblings (The Incredible Hulk #222)
The Incredible Hulk comes comes across a couple of small children named Donnie and Marie and their toxic-waster swigging sibling Billy...
..which of course gives him super powers and makes him a direct threat to The Hulk...
...and of course things go off the rails...
Per the usual, Zach and Mike are here to review this bizarre story.
Issue 37 - Dr. Bong (Sensational She Hulk #5)
..as well as one of the oddest (yet suprisingly powerful) villains named... Dr. Bong?
Join Zach and Mike as we break down a fun little jaunt through this John Byrne classic!
Issue 36 - Batman / Elmer Fudd Special #1
Warning #MOBSquad - the first of the two stories in this comic is totally noir.. Join Mike and Zach as they review a surprisingly gritty tale involving Elmer Fudd facing off against Batman... and the reasons may surprise you!

Issue 25 - Spider-Man meets Dracula (Giant Size Spider-Man)
Issue 24 - Boris the Bear w/Adam Wallenta (co-creator of Punk Taco and Public Enemy comic)
Support Adam's Kickstarter for Punk Taco V2 at -
www.kickstarter.com/projects/adamwallenta/punk-taco-volume-2-and-punk-taco-coloring-book
Issue 23 - El Jaguar (Daredevil #120)
This comic is.. kinda sexist and toxic. And, shockingly, the worst offender is.. Daredevil? Black Widow gets hit with a full barrel of misogyny this entire issue, and Mike and Zach want nothing to do with it. Also, we get introduced to a Sabretooth / Kraven mashup named El Jaguar and, while he sounds stupid, he's actually a pretty tough opponent for our blind pig-headed attorney.
Issue 22 - The Walrus w/Frog-Man (Defenders #131)
Issue 21 - Composite Superman (Worlds Finest Comics #142)
What happens when you take 2 heros, split them down the middle, and then make a new hero with a green face? Well.. I'm not sure, but I'm going to guess you would get something a lot like the Composite Superman. Mike and Zach dive into this jerk's first appearance this week.
Issue 20 - David Letterman (Avengers #239)
We have the dynamic duo of Mike and Jessika from the Ten Cent Takes podcast to help us review one of the more baffling comicbook crossovers in Avengers history.
Issue 19 - Zegors (Green Lantern #8)
What happens in 5700 AD, when Gila Monsters attempt to overthrow the world? Well - nothing good... sexism against is still rampant, and the best leaders are too weak to fight off the threat. So the solution is : Bring Green Lantern 3700 years into the future, mind wipe him, pimp out one of your female assistants to cosplay as his love interest, and hope he can resolve this entire thing before the 24 hour charge on his ring expires. Yea...
