My viewpoint: Failure is not a swearword
During this podcast series, I’ll be covering specific themes like 'Are you friends with your inner critic?' 'Multitasking doesn’t work' and 'Why failing is good'. My special guest for this series is my inner critic, Vera. She is a lovely old lady who just wants to keep me safe. This episode is Failure is not a swearword When I worked in the corporate world, making a mistake and failing was not an option. I felt like I had to be two steps ahead of my peers. Have the ability to read the minds of my seniors. And be the shield between my team and our leaders. Failure was not acceptable. I look back at my time now, with wiser eyes and having experienced the world on my terms, realising how limiting that environment was. Yes, I accept the part I played. But I also acknowledge that it was part of the culture and not just my imagined reality. The only time failing doesn’t serve us is if we don’t learn from it and, more importantly, then don’t do something with that learning.  If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Is what you’re thinking right?
During this podcast series, I’ll be covering specific themes like 'Are you friends with your inner critic?' 'Multitasking doesn’t work' and 'Why failing is good'. My special guest for this series is my inner critic, Vera. She is a lovely old lady who just wants to keep me safe. This episode is Is what you’re thinking right? Are you okay with where you are right now? Is it where you thought you’d be? Have you taken responsibility for where you are now? There are times in life, when we feel that we’re not where we should be. But we are where we are because of just one person. That is ourselves. It's the thoughts that sabotage us and stop us from getting to where we want to go. If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Multitasking is nothing to be proud of
During this podcast series, I’ll be covering specific themes like 'Are you friends with your inner critic?' 'Multitasking doesn’t work' and 'Why failing is good'. My special guest for this series is my inner critic, Vera. She is a lovely old lady who just wants to keep me safe. This episode is Multitasking is nothing to be proud of We’re busy busy busy, trying to do 101 things. We’re so busy we try and do things simultaneously, so that we can tick more things off our ‘to-do’ list, which seems never ending. What if we stopped being so busy? What if we focused on what was important? What if we tried to do one thing at one time? Wouldn’t life feel calmer? Wouldn’t we be happier? Wouldn’t we be living in the here and now? The answer to being less busy is not multitasking. If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Are you friends with your inner critic?
During this podcast series, I’ll be covering specific themes like 'Are you friends with your inner critic?' 'Multitasking doesn’t work' and 'Why failing is good'. My special guest for this series is my inner critic, Vera. She is a lovely old lady who just wants to keep me safe. This episode is Are you friends with your inner critic? We spend so much time in our own heads. Listening to that voice that is trying to keep us safe but also stopping us from moving forward. It’s that inner critic that is neither good nor bad but not necessarily helpful either. Vera, my inner voice, is just trying to stop me from making a mistake, making a fool of myself or getting hurt. But that means she is stopping me from fully experiencing life. I've found the best thing is to become friends with her so I can better understand myself and decide what is best for me. My viewpoint: How can we be more courageous?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. Life is about having amazing experiences. Life is about living. Life is about being brave and trying new things, even if you’re scared. It’s also about being your true self and genuinely not being bothered by what others may think or being concerned about how you may be judged. For this to happen, you need to be courageous. But how? My viewpoint: Why do we doubt ourselves?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. Self-doubt can happen to anyone at any time. It doesn’t discriminate. It can, seemingly, appear out of the blue. Or, it can be a slow burn that builds over time. But once the seed is planted it can be difficult to remove. We start to doubt ourselves for several reasons. It might be that we lack confidence. It might be the fear of failure. It might be that we’re scared. It might be that we fear being judged. Whatever the reason, the result is that you end up holding yourself back. Whether this is not fulfilling your full potential. Or not realising your dreams. Or simply taking a back seat and becoming an observer of your life. But this doesn't have to be your reality. If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Why is it difficult to break a habit?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. I don’t need to tell you that a habit is something we do automatically. It’s something that we do without thinking. And it’s something that can happen subconsciously.  Good or bad, we all have habits. Good or bad, there are ones we like and ones we want to change. Good or bad, the choice is ours. The choice is ours on what we do next. If we want to change a habit we can. The power to do something different is ours. The question is, do you want to change? Are you willing to practice? Are you willing to practice for as long as it takes until you form a new habit? If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Why is confidence not about being loud?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. One of the things we have control over is what we think of ourselves which in turn determines what we project to others. It's these thoughts that either give us confidence or make us shy away. I believe that if we are confident in who we are on the inside then anything is possible. Today I want to focus on what it means to be comfortable in your own skin and why this is what confidence is about. If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: Why is being creative not about being an artist?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. Do you believe that creativity should be left to the artists? Being creative and allowing ourselves the time and space to express ourselves has so many benefits. Allowing ourselves to be free to create whatever we want is therapeutic. It’s a form of expression. It’s a way to unload all the burdens and stresses that weigh down on us. Today I want to focus on why we shouldn’t be scared to have a go. So today we’re going to talk about the benefits of creativity If you enjoyed this podcast then please like, share and subscribe. My viewpoint: What's the point of being a good role model?
This podcast series is all about how to help yourself. We are bombarded with messages telling us how we should be and what we should do, when actually we already have the answers. It’s just about giving yourself some space and time to think and then decide what is next for you that best serves you. One thing that is really important to me, is to be a good role model to my kids. Not just because they're my kids but I want to show them that I mean what I say. They are not empty words. Plus if I'm not a good example for them to follow I know they will look for it elsewhere and I have no idea where that path may take them. What happens when you ask your kids, what would you do if you could be invisible for the day?
So the pandemic happened, which meant that we were in family lockdown 24/7. To start with it was really frustrating. Trying to do the mummy juggle with what felt like watermelons. But also the most amazing thing started to happen. I actually started to get to know my kids a lot better. One thing that became really obvious was how much they like to talk. I mean honestly, I thought I talked non stop but my kids seem to have constant verbal diarrhoea. So I thought it would be amusing to hear what they had to say mixed with my serious take on life. So here it is. This is what my kids have to say about being invisible for the day. And believe me when I tell you I haven’t edited this.
