Community Conversations Should be Fun
If we make the right changes, I believe we will become better a working in collaboration and better at providing for all of our needs as a community.
For a recent public meeting I adapted a game I created a number of years ago to make learning about community building and urban design more approachable and interesting, while hopefully also facilitating conversation. This game is called the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon the planning edition.
It’s a way of making conversations about community building less technocratic and fun to take part in.
Are we talking about Affordable Housing or Attainable Housing?
Many communities are facing challenges to providing housing for all persons across their life courses. Two categories of housing "affordable" and "attainable" are often used interchangeably in discussions, although they mean very different things. In this episode of Local Motive we explain the important differences of these types of housing.
