I am excited to have my uber-talented friend, Amanda Adams-Louis, on the show! We talk about her work in street dance culture from documenting through her photography to her educational programs that continue to bridge the generational gap in street dance in NYC. I always learn new things in our conversations and it's important to have someone like her in the culture to always shine a light on our beautiful culture. Happy New Year! This month's guests are Tony Riggins and  Marta Riggins who are in executive recruiting and employer/talent brand, respectfully. We chat about the importance of the human side of "Human Resources" and how crucial it is to have empathy with the people you work with. Those in the workforce are pulling 40-50 hour weeks and understanding how to have a rapport with your fellow co-workers is key. My latest conversation is with Akinwole "Aki" Garrett GM of the newly launched REVOLT Podcast Network. We met through chance back in my freelance days in NYC and he was one of the first external critical/constructive feedback of my previous podcast, The Table of Truth. Now, having launched his second podcast network, he is excited about providing a space for black creators, support, mentorship, and resources. Great conversation with writer and spirits enthusiast Rashaun Hall aka Bar Time Stories. We talk about his journey from the music industry to the spirits industry and what led him there. The common thread is the stories these great people have and highlighting them. We also work together on The Whiskey Lifestyle along with other amazing black creatives. My conversation with Mycs Villoso was illuminating. She is an Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dancer, and Educator from Manila, Philippines who collaborates with other Dance community leaders in different islands of the country and develops hip-hop dance programs in the academic community that centers on community building, cultural sensitivity, and professional responsibility. Had an amazing conversation with the brothas Terrence Moline and Dave McClinton from the African American Graphic Designers (AAGD). We talked about black mentorship, shared experiences in the design world, and the importance of community amongst black designers with veterans and the up-and-coming new designers. I sat down with Artist, Educator, and all-around amazing human Sophia Domeville. We talked about her time as an Abstract Expressionist artist and the hustle and grind that it was. Being a Haitian immigrant and the differences in how they view the arts as a profession. She then transitioned into education through the arts and learned new skills on the job. My conversation with the founders of Abusia Radio focused on filling a void they saw. Kwab, Datchka, and Josh wanted a home for the music lovers, the marginalized, the misfits, and the House-Heads. On top of amazing house music, they've curated a diverse set of DJs, all with the goal to continue the house music experience we miss from the clubs.

Had an awesome conversation with J. Harris aka DJ Brown Boi of FinerTouch/GeekChic DJs. We spoke about creating value as a DJ, the difference between a Wedding DJ and a DJ that does Weddings, how he curates his sounds, and why he still loves what he does. Bringing happiness to thousands of people.

Artist, Creative Director, B-Boy Lance Pilgrim, and I chat about his digital art NFT work through Super Rare and Foundation. Wonderful conversation with Artist/Dancer/Teacher/Choreographer James "Cricket" Colter. We talk about the importance of the Black experience in Street Dance culture, sharing and passing history while teaching dance, and the work we in the Black Community need to do own and catalog our creations. I chatted with one of my favorite art couples, Nikki and Dela Longfish, who create accessible affordable art for the public. I attended San Jose St. University with them and studied under the same teachers. Taking those lessons and applying them to different mediums is a specialty of ours. We talk about how they started selling their art that was different from their 9-5, managing a creative job burnout, the origin of Nikki's "Miso Soup" art series, and Dela recounts his time putting together The Art of God of War art book. I had a great "dance nerd" chat with two of my favorite dance nerds, Brian Polite of Afro Mosaic Soul and Byron Cox of The House Dance Project. These brothas are people I would talk to about dance, black culture, and its evolution into the wee hours of the night after dancing all night in the NYC house clubs. We talk about the black experience in street dance and black culture being capitalized and commodity. We offer critiques, observations and some solutions. My conversation with Chef Quynh Lai & Chef Ben Wiley of stock&candor centered on being authentic in sharing their experiences through food. Based in Grand Rapids, MI, they use stock&candor as their culinary playground to present great flavors in home pop ups around the city. I sat down with Mars Murkin (aka DosMef & J-Drizz) of Il Arte Museo and talked about how they met through dance and bonded over music. My chat with Anna Sarao, alumni of Culture Shock SD and creator of Body Rock Dance Competition, centered around her evolution from dancer to dance leader to event creator to dance leader coach (I'd say "Dance Therapist", trademark pending). I sat down with my man DJ Commish! A stable in the NYC nightlife scene with his signature parties like Hav Plenty Brunch, South N the City, and New Jack. I've rocked many parties with this man and he was impacted greatly along with the nightlife industry when COVID hit. We talked about how he had to adapt, pick up some new skills, new fans, and evolve how he communicates with his audience in this new era of DJing.
