Tip of the Week- 6/19/2023

Human resources professionals, particularly those who work for employers with locations in multiple states, are fully aware of the importance of compliance with labor and employment laws. They are also equally aware of the difficulty of keeping abreast of all of the latest changes in the law. Areas where there has been increased legislation and protection for employees include: paid sick leave laws, pay transparency laws, the use of AI in hiring and other employment decisions, and an increase in the number of protected classes for purposes of employment discrimination. Human resources professionals must keep up to date on changes in federal and state law. In addition, particularly for employers with locations in major metropolitan areas, there are local ordinances that must be followed when creating employer policies and making decisions regarding employees.
