Conversation with Ruta Olmane 🎊

Rita's moto: If this day was not your friend, it was your teacher!

Ruta was born in Riga, Latvia, but four years of her childhood were spent in Africa where her father was invited to give lectures at several universities. Since that time, Ruta really enjoys travelling.

During the pandemic she more than ever unknowledged that first-of-all she is a wife and mother of three children - 24 year old daughter, 18 year old son and 7 year old daughter, and only then she is a trade mark attorney.

Her professional life is linked with the intellectual property field for more than 20 years. She advises Latvian and foreign clients on protection and defence of IP rights. Her main activities include filing trademark applications, handling oppositions and appeals before the Latvian Patent Office and EUIPO, IPR infringement cases, seizure of counterfeit goods by customs or the police and litigation in Courts in all instances.

Since 2014 Ruta has her own private practice and holds a position of associated partner of METIDA in Latvia.

She is an active member of several professional organizations, including ECTA, AIPPI Latvian Group and Latvian Patent attorney Association, where she helds leading positions. Ruta was ECTA President as of 2016 until 2018. On 2016 Managing Intellectual Property included her in the TOP 250 list of the world's most important women in the field of intellectual property.

She likes spending time with her family, gardening, travelling, and spending time with friends. She very much looks forward to start travelling and networking with colleagues and friends in-person once again and attending real live cultural events.

Conversation with Anna Pasiut

Conversation with Anna Pasiut

Anna Pasiut is patent and trademark attorney with almost 20 years of experience in the field of IP protection gained in private practice and as an EUIPO employee. Since 2001 she has been working at Sulima, Grabowska, Sierzputowska Patent and Trademark Attorneys, Warsaw, Poland, where since 2019 she holds positions of a business development director and acting head of trademark department. Since 2011 Anna has been also a member of the ECTA Law Committee, which helps to shape the EU trademark and design law and practice.

Anna was born in beautiful mountain region in the South of Poland. As the oldest child and a sister to three younger brothers since the early years she developed her leadership skills and great sense of responsibility .

As a child Anna wanted to become a doctor to heal people and thus studied biology and chemistry as her majors during grammar school.

As a young teenager Anna started to travel abroad and this had made a really big impact on her and her future choices. During her travels she understood that she wanted traveling to be part of her work and that she wanted to work with people from different countries. This is probably one of the reasons why, shortly before the secondary school final exams, Anna decided to study law instead of medicine. It was not an easy decision and required a lot of courage and hard work, but she managed to get through all her exams with very good results and has become the first lawyer in her family.

Her “adventure” with the IP law started in 2001 when, quite by chance, she went for an interview with the firm she has been working ever since. Very quicky after starting to work in the IP field she realised that it was one of the most international branches of law, very interesting and with lots of opportunities to develop. The rest is history …

In her free time Anna likes to read books and watch movies, in particular independent movies from different parts of the world. She loves music and live concerts (opera, jazz, rock, ladino, etc.). She also loves travelling, meeting new people and experiencing different cultures and different types of food. Physical activity has been always an important part of her life – she likes running, bike riding and mountain trekking.

Anna believes that in life as well as in work it is important not only to be hard working, but also to be open and to look up for different opportunities. She also thinks that new, challenging tasks and duties are the ones that let us grow and learn the most.

She was moved to Baker McKenzie's Zurich office in March 2007 for a “brief exchange” but is still there today and perceives herself as a "European" citizen! Eva-Maria became a partner in 2015 and leads Baker McKenzie’s Swiss Intellectual Property practice group. She is admitted to the bars in Switzerland and Germany and specializes in consumer goods, particularly luxury products such as jewelry and watches, though she also has experience in sectors such as foods/agriculture and pharmaceuticals.

Eva-Maria has a son - 11 years old and in the midst of puberty - and is a founding member of an association which supports projects to improve reading and learning skills and motivation of children and young people from educationally disadvantaged families. The association collects donations (books) from exhibitors of the famous Frankfurt Book Fair and distributes them to schools in socially weak neighborhoods which want to expand their library collection and motivate children to read more. Apart from this engagement, Eva-Maria loves travelling - and on weekends spends many hours organizing trips to exotic countries like Myanmar or Cambodia and researching how she can best explore hidden places off the beaten tracks.

BLACKPINK - LEADERCHING RECO

BLACKPINK - LEADERCHING RECO

LEADERCHING RECO - ANNE WITH AN E

LEADERCHING RECO - ANNE WITH AN E

ANNE WITH AN E

Conversation with Mamta Jha

Conversation with Mamta Jha

Mamta Jha about herself: Serendipity! That’s the word I would use to describe my journey so far! The youngest of 4 kids from a very humble background, the only assets our parents bestowed on us were good education and deep sense of spirituality, and those have helped and guided us to become strong and stay humble in all situations.

Being a lawyer was not part of the plan at all! As a child I dreamt of travelling the whole world and wanted to be an Air Hostess! :)

My parents wanted me to be a civil servant as I was good at studies and always a topper throughout my educational journey. Law was just by chance as I was required to elect a second subject for my civil services exam. However, life has its own plan and it is full of opportunity provided you are open to it! I am happy where I am today, a passionate litigator and a senior partner in one of India’s leading IP law firms. I am a first generation lawyer and therefore grateful to my amazing mentors, having great clients and immense opportunities to do intellectually stimulating work every moment.

A litigating lawyer for over 20 years, I have been exposed to every part of the profession from the ground up. I firmly believe that learning and experiences never go waste and can only benefit, if not now then definitely in the future!

What keeps me going and the fountain of energy in me is my meditation practice every day for last 25 years.

Travelling is my second love! Of course, work my first love, I admit I am a workaholic but that's what I love. I am a total adrenaline junkie, whether its skydiving or paragliding or bungee jumping or sea-diving, I am always game!

I had no worries when I started, and I have no worries, wherever I am. The only mantra which I follow is, make the most of the day and live day-by-day! I am a proud mother of a brilliant 15 year old who wants to go to Mars and be part of NASA. Love to see the passion and happy to offer this world another generation of wild dreamers!

Recomendación GREENBOOK

Recomendación GREENBOOK

GREEN BOOK

No perdérsela y recomendarla.
