Circle Back: The Podcast

By Networks4Change

After 7 years of powerful work that has created numerous agents of change, Networks for Change’s fieldwork is coming to a close with an Imbizo Ceremony on July 15, 2021, along with their fifth publication. However, this is the first collaborative book with the works of women and girls in South Africa and Canada together. This podcast will provide an accessible platform for the girls to share their work and pieces of art that have been published within Circle Back: Stories of Reflection, Connection and Transformation.

Reflections on Personal Spaces

Episode 2 includes reflections from young South African women on the concept of personal space. We hear from Elethu Ntsethe Melissa Lufele, Amahle Day, and Nozinga Nyamakazi. The notion of personal space is explored in relation to violence coming from those who are close to us, gender roles, occupying spaces that not made for us in order to make change, and COVID 19’s impact on the home and self. These reflections are also found within the Circle Back book.

Episode 1 includes recordings of young women in South Africa reading their written pieces from the Circle Back book related to Transformation. This notion of transformation varies from personal agency and social change, to how they have been affected by COVID-19, both directly and indirectly, as well as the transformations they hope to see in the future. We thank Takatso Mohlomi, Bongiwe Maome, Zikhona Tshiwula, Lelethu Mlobeli, Asisipho Mntonga & Elethu Ntsethe for sharing their voices.
