EPISODE 100 Reshared: How DigitALLy Fit Are You? (Live Recording Event)

This episode was a live podcast recording in honour of the 2023 Women's History Month. This episode delves into the subject of women's digital rights and the obstacles encountered by them in the digital realm. In it, we break down what causes the majority of online violence directed at women, what kind of women are most frequently targeted, and the best ways for women to succeed in digital environments without facing discrimination. The Media Challenge Initiative's CEO, Abaas Mpindi, and Pollicy researcher Bobina Zulfa were among the panel of experts.

Bobina highlighted the necessity of a systemic shift, urging governments to enact rules and regulations that safeguard women's rights online and guarantee them equitable access to the digital realm, while Abaas urges us to assess the weight of what it is we intend to communicate before we publish it. "...For me, it's just the humanity that we need..." he stated.
"How DigitALLy Fit Are You?" was, is, and always will be a time for us to pause and consider if we are the ones abusing others, the abuse victims, or just well-meaning people who want to make digital environments safe for everyone.

How To Maintain An Emotionally Healthy Love Life (with Dr. Denis Agaba) - EPISODE 131

This specific episode had a live audience whose questions were answered by Dr. Denis Agaba. For a while now, love or relationships have not been given enough attention on the podcast but now that Valentine's Day fell on a day new episodes get published, there is no way I was going to avoid it.

While prepping for this episode, though, I had to ask around for what questions people wished to ask the psychiatrist (in regards to love and mental health) and I think the question that struck me the most was "Does love have to always be painful?"

There are more questions you may have that the doctor answered and you can catch them on this episode.

EPISODE 63 Reshared: Normalise Difficult Conversations

EPISODE 63 Reshared: Normalise Difficult Conversations

Gratitude is a noun. It is a warm feeling of thankfulness towards the world, or towards specific individuals. In such a turbulent world that constantly challenges our ability to stay on our feet, the smidgens of gratefulness are like droplets of water on a dry leaf. They repair our brokenness. They refill our cups.

In this solo episode, I pointed out some of the moments that inspire gratitude and went on to answer the common questions related to Hash Time with Nabuguzi Kiwanuka.  Why the podcast? Why Mental Health? What took me so long to start? (Touching a bit on Imposter Syndrome and how to thrive beyond it).

I hope that as a result of listening to this episode, you manage to create moments that allow you to be the starter and a willing participant in difficult conversations. Whether with yourself or the people you keep experiencing in life.

Once There Was A Star (with Meshack Yobby) - EPISODE 130

Once There Was A Star (with Meshack Yobby) - EPISODE 130

What is so bad about home that you cannot go back there and settle? Meshack answers this question in his debut novel, Once There Was a Star, and in this episode.

Once There Was A Star, made me realize what privilege looks like and to appreciate how we indeed experience life differently. While there were real victims of war, I only experienced the tragedy of war in a book.

When I read the book, I found myself so fully immersed in it that I almost failed to draw the line between my real-life experience and what was in the book. I found myself leaving home while looking over my shoulder so that anything looking suspicious of another war would find me alert. It required me to keep reminding myself that the war was just in the book I was reading.

Weeks ago, I sat down with the author, Meshack Yobby, to talk about the relevance of this book, why he chose war for his debut novel, and how heavy the creation process was.

If you have read this book or are a lover of a good story, this is the episode for you.
