Palou Delivers but Power Reigns Supreme

Palou Delivers but Power Reigns Supreme

Although much of the rambling nonsense was put on display this week. We still talked about some motorsports. Indycar was put on full display as the American open wheel series had it's season finale this weekend with Will Power claiming his second title of the Australian's career in Indycar. Newgarden placed second in the race and points after starting at the back of the field this past weekend in the foothills of the California countryside. Alex Palou captured the race win cementing him fifth place over teammate Marcus Ericsson.

Nascar had a duel that wasn't touched on quite enough by the boys. Bubba Wallace becomes the winningest African American driver in Nascar's premiere division with his win at Kansas that was undisputedly a great win and well deserved. No one can take that away from him or the 45 crew. The win for the 45 also marked the first time since 2002 where a car number won multiple races with different drivers. This also is the first time since 1972 where the same number won at the same track with different drivers.

Monza was, maybe not as thrilling up front with Verstappen winning under SC as the Mclaren of Ricciardo had dirvetrain problems. Vettel also had a less than stellar result in his final Monza race in F1 that happened with a DNF even earlier in the race. Shoutout to the young Dutchman in Nyck De Vries to bring a Williams home in P9 for Alex Albon as Albon had to miss this weekend due to health reasons.

Amazing Racing and Amazing Beverages

Amazing Racing and Amazing Beverages

What a week for the boys and the racing world as we all witnessed Zanvoort live up to great highs with an epic finish to a great race of strategy. Another tough day was witnessed for the Tifosi as Ferrari not only messed up on Sainz strategy, pit stop and release all at different times of the race as Charles couldn't compete with Max in the process. Verstappen truly extends the title lead.

Indycar saw an amazing strategy play out. The Penske duo of Power and McLaughlin really showed this on perfect display dominating the field. While Newgarden would struggle with the tire strategy and cost him in the end now sitting 20 back of Power while McLaughlin sits some 41 points barely in the title shot.

Nascar then had a chaotic race on Sunday which we discuss how this can be the start of pure uncertainty for many drivers the next two races.

Hot Takes in a Hotspot

Hot Takes in a Hotspot

Nascar's action in the rain and dry for the weekend at Watkins Glen International. Seeing the field full of international drivers. But one fan had a much better experience than some ever get to witness at Nascar events. thenascarhotspot on Instagram joined the show this week to discuss not only his time at The Glen. But also other forms of racing he enjoys and how as his page is one trick pony, he himself is not.

Stick around as we make picks for this weekend's events across the globe.

A Bit of Nonstop Action

This week @nascarnonstop from instagram joined the show! We talk about his liking of Nascar and what really drove him to not only start a page but keep growing it. From stories of childhood to his take on the sport these days. There's many topics discussed and just how his views as a college student make for great timing in today's media society.

Cj unfortunately missed the show this week but with great reason as work is always a main focus for all.

Tell All from Michigan

Tell All from Michigan

As one watched on the couch the other experienced speeds we haven't on a non superspeedway in years. Nascar was in the Irish Hills of Michigan for a date with the track faster than the rest. Chris tells of his experience at "Nascar's Fastest Track." From the speeds they carried as driving right on by him and friends from the stands. To what it was like being at the race where his most purchased adult beverage was the race winning sponsor.

Then we discuss the chaos of Indycar and what happened down in the Music City. From the tangles of Newgarden and Grosjean to the amazing finish between the Kiwi Scotts. Another action packed weekend for the highest open wheel series in America.

A New High for the Boys

A New High for the Boys

This week was a way more interesting turn of events. The boys sit down to discuss what happened over in Hungary and how Verstappen almost has one hand on the title at this point. Ferrari masterclass strategy leaves everyone in shock with blunder after blunder it seems almost every race coming to Hungary where it seems that this past Sunday truly exemplified how it's like to to be a Ferrari fan.

Over in the states, Indycar and Nascar had a double header on the Indy Road Course which started with Indycar on Saturday. A great showing of racing with Alexander Rossi scoring his first win in three years.

Then on Sunday Nascar took on the Indy road course. It wasn't quite the chaos of last year but tempers were flaring. Many wrecks and many spins but one man got it done in the end. Tyler Reddick scores his second win of the season and second road course win in the month of July.

At the end of the episode the boys give their picks for this weekend's races of Nascar at Michigan. Indycar on the streets of Nashville and IMSA at Road America.

Unorthodox Results to Unorthodox Sports

Unorthodox Results to Unorthodox Sports

There was a lot to unpack from a wild weekend in the racing world as Cj and Chris did their best to hammer out every detail that they could. The boys start the episode breaking down their weekends and what all happened in their crazy lives that lead to a late recording and even later release to this week's episode. From the fast thoughts of Cj's round the clock and round the region job. To Chris heading to the Irish Hills of Michigan to do some Country A$$ $#!t at Faster Horses where the music wasn't the only thing that was fast.

But the fast thoughts didn't end there. As Formula One was over in France, this lead to what the boys thought of the F1 circus visiting the track made of 167 configurations and the land of Lavender fields. For one driver it was anything but fields of flowers and where rubber met the road a little too much and a lot too little.

Back in the state Indycar was taking on their final oval race of the season with a double header weekend in Iowa. Where the race winning car on Saturday didn't quite make it to the end of the race on Sunday in a very sad and dangerous way. This leads many to speculate the idea of what if that racer can't race this coming weekend for the Harvest Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

Lastly, Nascar headed to the mountains of Pennsylvania where the Tricky Triangle of Pocono took one competitor from racing on Sunday leaving the door open for a very early intro to the Cup Series for a very young, up and coming driver that now after recording we know will race again this weekend at Indy.

There's many talking points this weekend and we try to crack down on all of them. Be ready to sit back and relax as we talk all things motorsports here at On the Chip.

Under the Lights on a Saturday and Sunday Night

Under the Lights on a Saturday and Sunday Night

Nascar had a couple suspicious calls this weekend at Nashville but none more than the final laps. SRX let the emotions take over just two weeks and the IMSA boys had to endure some weather at Watkins Glen. Many things to break down in this week's short episode as the boys discuss the weekend and give their takes on everything motorsports.

1- Discussions of what NASCAR could have done better in the final stages of the race

2- Tony lets out some Smoke in South Boston en route to his first win of the SRX season

The Lion, Spiderman and a Well Earned Fathers Day Present

The Lion, Spiderman and a Well Earned Fathers Day Present

The boys gathered this weekend to talk all things motorsports and get a little off topic at times. First was obviously to discuss the happenings of Montreal and F1 returned to the Canadian street circuit for the first time since before the Covid-19 pandemic. The race discussion was rather in and out of topic but always a fun listen. We discuss the events that were the first SRX race of the season that saw a always fan favorite Helio Castroneves win on Saturday night. Along with Todd Gilliland giving his father's team the win in the first race that Todd has ever raced for his dad David.

Stick around later on as we give our picks for this upcoming week for the Cup Series along with IMSA's DPi and GTDP classes. But we couldn't forget about the SRX drivers as they head to South Boston Speedway for race 2 of 6 in the SRX season.

The Road Course Warriors Were in Full Display

The Road Course Warriors Were in Full Display

This weekend the boys sit down to discuss all the happenings in the wide world of motorsports. Nascar both the trucks and Cup Series tackled Sonoma Raceway with a feel good win that had the whole community in Nascar rally together for a long awaited first win in the Cup Series with Daniel Suarez. We also had the 24 Hours of Le Mans that happened this weekend showcasing again why endurance racing is some of the best out there. Indycar took on Road America where we was the field show off the worse side of their talent levels in the beginning portions of the race. While Formula One attempted to take on the fast and abrasive streets of Baku. Many headlines throughout so be sure to listen as we discuss everything in this week's show!

The Belle's Grand Finale and a New Beginning at the Archway

Nascar had a great first showing for the cup series at WWT Raceway at Gateway. With many drivers trying to show just how good they could be on this mission to be the first to win in cup at the Illinois track. Later on, Chris gives great details to his weekend at Belle Isle and just how fun the racing was all weekend long for the final time before IMSA and Indycar move to the streets of Detroit and away from the island that's had so many iconic moments in the years past.

A Blast form the Past, a Star of Now and a Glimpse into the Future - Allstar, Indy Qualy and Spain GP Review

This the boys had many fun topics. The return of Brandon to the show was among the midst of them. This week was essential for the rest of the duration that we run the show as we will be taking a major leap next week with the news at the end of the show. Be sure to stick around as we showcase why things are changing.

The races of the weekend showed that every motorsport is in the process of a change. Formula One with more stability than the rest. They had a rather organized dumpster fire to their race. While Nascar, none of the three series really knew what was going on. Meanwhile in Indy the drivers and teams of the fastest motorsport on four wheels showed just how tight and amazing the action is in their sport.

The Indiana Kid Wins in the Arizona Desert and Brandon is Going Racing

This week the boys breakdown all the happenings at Phoenix Raceway. Pointing out events that happened in all three events at what could be the most unorthodox track the national series goto. A track of Phoenix level requires a lot of skill that people don't necessarily see and boy was it on full display. We start with talking about ARCA and the heart warming victory for Taylor Gray after such a sad and emotional week for Gray and the whole DGR family. Then we move to the Xfinity Series where Noah Gragson puts on a almost iconic Noah Gragson burnout. While the Cup Series sees its newest and 200th different winner in the history of the series. There are many talking points to discuss and we can't wait for you to hear.

Later on the boys give their takes on who is the right guys to pick entering Atlanta. While we also discuss who might be that driver you don't want to come close to. The list is interesting and the picks just might be crazier than we think. We will breakdown those picks and explain why each one seems to be the right choice from each of our perspectives.

Finally Brandon has some news for us! He will be in the Five Flags event hosting the ARCA East race this weekend for the Pensacola 200. Look out for him and the rest of the field this Saturday night starting at 8pm EST on FloRacing.
