Hey guys! We've got some X-tra Factor for you. We're back with Cristina for some extra content. Our reality pop music chat got so deep and off piste that we created an X-Factor chaser. In this episode we voice our opinions freely on how these music shows affected all of our lives and changed the music industry forever. It gave the public a power they had never had before that we unfortunately, more often than not, abused. Hey friends! We're back refreshed after a lil' break and while we were gone some things happened in the world. Things that we felt we'd like to and should talk about. Firstly, we discuss the latest developments in the Britney Spears conservatorship honestly and openly and sensitively as always. Which then leads us into the horrible mucky, innards of the pop machine once more. Why are we obsessed with making narratives out of people we don't know's lives? Turns out we're all in a massive conservatorship with the pop machine and J and I unapologetically will not stop coming for it. Hey friends! This week we take you on a little trip to underappreciated album city. We are going to give some love to albums that got did dirty at the time of release by fans and critics alike but now, with the passage of time, are viewed in a more positive light. First stop I take you on a chaotic spin around Good Charlotte's 'Good Morning Revival'. After their earlier pop-punk efforts this weird dance pop album wasn't received well by many. It was, however, received very well by me. Moving on to the second stop J takes us on a beautiful far more coherent tour around Midlake's 'Antiphon'. She gives an open and honest outpouring of love for Midlake and speaks sensitively about changes in the band that resulted in the very different 4th album Antiphon. Music and we as people are constantly in flux and our opinions constantly change over time. There are many misunderstood albums that deserve more love than what they received and J and I give all the love we can to Good Charlotte and Midlake here. Come join the cathartic earnestness y'all. Hey friends, (Christians and non-christians alike) welcome to this week's service where J and I discuss our experiences with Christian (crietsen) music. J shares the beautiful story of Keith And Melody Green. Two wonderful people who opened their hearts and homes to those in need and Jesus himself in the 1970's. Even for me (an ex-catholic and current atheist) their story is one of endless inspiration on navigating the human experience. It's the end of the K! Sessions. You may all heave a collective sigh of relief but we're sad to say goodbye. Back again for more torture I see? Welcome to the K! Sessions part 4 in this episode I hop onto Kerrang's radio site and read an article about metal covers of ABBA songs. J and I both love a bit of ABBA and are luke warm at best with regards to metal in general (sorry not sorry). Will this article change our minds? In short, not really, but boy do we have fun along the way. Step inside to hear my pitiful attempt at "screamo" vocals, repetitive guitar tones I dislike after 0.5 seconds and why oh why is everything in a minor key? Light at the end of the tunnel however is provided by two fans who give us way better recommendations than the actual article. Great. Here we go again...Kerrang! Files part 3. This episode we explore facts about Dave Grohl...some of which cause me to have a minor existential crisis. Then I discuss the 'war on emo',an insane moment in time where The Daily Mail basically told the parents of any kids that listened to MCR that they should be very worried...*eye roll intensifies*. Back again for the chaotic and largely plotless Kerrang! Session sequel. As most sequels go (bar a few shining examples) this one falls into the abyss rather quickly and we wouldn't have it any other way. We start by addressing the strange music choices on Clyde 1 for the passing of Prince Phillip and from this point it quickly slides down a slippery McPhilly Cheese Steak lined slope. In this session I read an article on underrated 90's albums and we then move onto 90's movie cameos made by bands. These articles provide scaffolding that we desperately try to cling to whilst discussing much more important issues as J's painting intensifies furiously. J savagely damns people to die in holes. Frank Carter or Frank Turner? We're unsure tbh but both are quite bad. I get confused between two films called Jack Frost and the iconic alcoholic beverage Frosty Jack's. And *plot spoiler* we finally reveal the origins of the 'ghost duplicate Mark' I'm going to have tattooed on my body in 190 episodes. You just had to be there guys.
