Navigating Life With Parkinson's

Navigating Life With Parkinson's

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors, Claire White Claire is a trained and Registered General and Obstetric Nurse in Timaru, New Zealand. Returning to French Polynesia, she was a Registered Nurse in a cosmetic surgeon’s clinic saving for travels. Born in Leeston, New Zealand, she was immersed in the local farming community with hardworking and generously community-minded parents who continue to serve others. Claire was told by many to write about her adventurous life on land, sea, and air as she has a zesty, enthusiastic passion for life. Embracing her time as a teenage exchange student in French Polynesia profoundly influenced her life. Immersed in the vibrant culture, she found herself drawn to the brave, adventurous yachties who fearlessly explored distant shores, inspiring her own sense of adventure. As a young bride in Western Australia’s outback Derby, she started her own Girl Guide Company and learned to fly and paint. However, due to her marital status, she was not able to continue as a nurse. She was instrumental in changing this discriminatory judgment of others. Saddened by leaving the Kimberley region for Darwin, she faced the challenges with courage. In Darwin, she thrived in Accident and Emergency Nursing, enjoyed camping in Kakadu, and led Brownies. She pursued diverse interests like music, midwifery, and sailing while overcoming fears, performing on the piano at The Cool Spot and embracing singlehood anew. Claire embodies compassion and resilience, consistently exceeding expectations in her work. She acquired expertise in hyperbaric medicine, providing care for divers with the bends, patients with carbon monoxide poisoning, and those with anaerobic non-healing wounds. Her dedication led her to attend a hyperbaric medicine conference in Baltimore, USA. Through house minding, she financed a year of travels, exploring destinations such as Tahiti, Europe, the USA, and Canada. Using frequent flyer points, Claire returned to Darwin for her fifth International Yacht Race combining a flotilla of the world’s majestic Tall Ships with 50-year celebrations for Indonesia’s independence from Dutch rule. Between international yacht races, Cairns to Papua New Guinea and Darwin to Indonesia, she met Errol whilst wearing a Can-Can outfit at Darwin Sailing Club. She gained her radio operator’s license, and assisted with twice daily position checks for the next three annual Darwin to Ambon Indonesia yacht races until civil unrest caused them to voyage the Kimberley for about 20 years. Denying Parkinson's Disease for years, now after a reverse sea-change for safety, Claire offers creativity through yoga, piano singalongs, and ukulele jams as they passionately raise awareness and funds for research and a cure. 3 Takeaways: 1. Proactivity - How life’s experiences and attitudes can shape us into who we are. If it is to be, it is up to me. 2. Hope, help and inspiration for those dealing with Parkinson’s from the perspectives of the sufferer, spouse/family member, carer, nurse and first mate. 3. Golden Rule - Life is full of challenges, and it’s how we react and navigate that teaches us. Don't Report Rape

Don't Report Rape

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors, Trish Wyatt.

Trish Wyatt is an experienced social worker turned author and activist. She is passionate about raising awareness of sexual violence and our archaic “justice” system where it is almost impossible to convict dangerous sex offenders, and where victims of sexual crimes experience further trauma.

Trish provides a raw and very personal insight into her lived experience after surviving an extremely violent and life-threatening rape and assault in regional Queensland in 2018.   The assault itself was disturbing and shocking, but what followed – from the moment she tried to report the crimes and the more than three years wait for the trial – beggars belief. So horrendous was her post-crime experience, that her genuine advice to survivors is not to report rape.

Just recently, Trish published her first book entitled "Don't Report Rape".

3 Key takeaways:

1. The book is not just a book, it's about the issue and my fight to change the system

2. Listeners to gain insight into why I titled my book 'Don't Report Rape'

3. Insight into what the writing process has been like for me and hopefully inspire other survivors to share their stories

Dreams into Reality

Dreams into Reality

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring a special guest, Terri Adams-Munn, who is the founder of Dreams into Reality.

Terri Adams-Munn started Ten Thousand Dreams after realising incidental guidance she was offering to business contacts was transforming the way they operated, and the goals they were reaching.

Having grown up in a rural family in Queensland, ever inspired by being surrounded by people who live their dreams every day, Terri discovered her own dream and passion (beyond loving her family) was to guide others through the process of clarification, not just of personal goals, but also practical steps to arrive at that new lifestyle.

Terri's experience in the personal development world started early, beginning with pulling self-help books out of the library as a socially awkward 15 year old at Boarding School.  She is a life-long learner, up-levelling every day to build better relationships and enhanced business approaches.

Terri shares her myriad of skills with those in or starting small businesses, helping her clients to create their own lifestyle success stories through identifying what they truly want out of life, and helping them create the change needs to bring their Dreams into Reality.

The New Way of Resolving Stress & Trauma

The New Way of Resolving Stress & Trauma

Monday morning live with Natasa Denman featuring one of her amazing authors from the 2015 Retreat, Anita Bentata.

Anita Bentata is a highly skilled mentor facilitator with nearly 30 years experience in western and eastern science, psychology and neursocience. She is the author of The Wolf in a Suit, and soon to be released, The Truth about Love, Abuse and Therapy, as well as The Inner Essential Journey.

In this time, Anita has explored the relationship between love, stress and trauma, through research, clients, followers stories, and her journey out of trauma. She realised why people become stuck in stress/trauma, and difficult thought patterns, habits, and relationships. This led to developing The Essentials MEthod™ which is transforming lives and freeing people from relying on time consuming ‘techiques and therapy/coaching’ to manage stress.

With her calm, comforting approach, Anita inspires and imparts clarity through a practical blueprint to move beyond current perceptions into generative possibilities, free in the moment, no matter the past, or current environment.

Anita's Take-Aways:

1.  We're trained by society and family to listen to others who don't know what is best for us or in alignment with our inner calling, and so lose track of our inner guidance. When we see an 'expert' we continue the pattern from our parents that outisde of us, others know best, and we lose the incredible opportunities to discover more than we conceive is possible when going inwards.

2.  We live in a society that focuses on and values the left brain qualities: thinking, logic, rationality, concrete reality, learning from the past. But the left brain does not know the unknown, and so it repeats what is known.

3.  Little Red Riding Hood was told to stick to the path. We are often told 'what the right path' should look like, whether in business or relationships.
