Revelation Response

Tim and I used to be on staff together at Fellowship, and on this episode we discuss his vocational shift into Shepherding Ministry with Standing Stone. We also explore his experience with sobriety and how that has shaped his understanding of grace and community.

We also hear a bit of Brian's story, from childhood through college into his adult career leading worship and writing songs for the church. 

I sit down with April and Emily and discuss the song "Whatever Is Good." We talk about where the idea for the song came from as well as get into each section of the song and dissect what they mean to us personally. 

I sit down with Jon and try to answer the question "what is music for?" We talk about the way music has functioned in our lives through the years, and also discuss how one bible study can change the whole trajectory of your spiritual journey. 

Jennifer shares her incredible experience being saved through worship singing. We also unpack how our response to God's revelation often needs to turn outwards to those around us, as we pass on to them what we have received from the Lord. 

Aaron shares his story of being in touring bands, going into vocational worship leading, and now working in church marketing and communications. We discuss potential pitfalls of the modern worship culture, and unpack the importance of our responses being real and not coerced or done out of obligation or expectation. 

Rob Sweet walks us through a bit of his history with music and how he got into ministry. We talk about the art of preaching sermons that reflect who God is and lead people to a natural response. We also unpack how all response is expression, and cover the importance of the church gathered-- Christ embodied together. 

I sit down with Joe Blair and discuss the work that goes on behind the scenes in church production. We unpack the importance of visuals to our congregation and the impact that look and feel have on a service or event. We also get into the “why” behind sermon illustrations, and how tangible pieces can make our response deeper and longer lasting.

Mandi and I talk about the challenges that come with raising a child with special needs and what response looks like in the middle of suffering. God often reveals unique things about Himself when we are in crisis. We also get into leading worship during dark or disappointing seasons and how to think about approaching that with vulnerability.
