Having been at Ross Video for 30 years, David knows a thing or two about culture and he quoted – from something he read recently – that ‘Culture is what you ignore’. The premise being, that what you ignore will become normalised, and that will become your culture, either good or bad, reminding us all of the importance to highlight the good bits and to call out anything that does not meet your company standard.

In a wide ranging interview, we also cover how and why he joined his father’s business in 1991 (it hadn’t always been the plan!!), his thoughts on the industry and the tech that will affect things moving forwards. In addition, he raised the important issue of sustainability around Broadcast as well as having some excellent advice for those entering the industry – have two great skill sets, not just one!

Mohammed Akhlaq, ITN’s current CTO had an early desire to work for the BBC and was fortunate enough to make that a reality in the late 80’s. He recalls some wonderful memories of his time there, along with some amazing people who inspired him along the way.

From the BBC, he went on to join Al Jazerea where he played a key role in launching their first US studio and channel. He talks with passion, and authority, and you have a real sense that his experience results in a very level-headed leadership style.

Obsessed by television and technology as a child, Pedro Bandeira to that passion and turned it into a dream career. Fast forward to the present day, and he’s still trying to make dreams come true, only now that manifests itself in an endless quest to deliver the ultimate content consumption experience in his role as VP New Products at Deutsche Telekom.

One of our favourite parts of the interview was his recollection of him being the very first IPTV customer for Portugal Telecom, a fitting tribute to his ideas and efforts to make that release a reality – the default pin for the service remains the date of that installation to his home nearly 20 years ago!

From professional rock climbing and snowboarding to the EVP of Chief Marketing and Sales Officer at the Kudelski Group and Nagravision, Nancy has walked a very different path to most people in her position. Nothing in her life was pointing to a corporate job or indeed to the Content and Media Industry. But after meeting her musician husband and being inspired by her mother, Nancy was encouraged to be fearless and always bring that quality to the table. In this episode we discuss how leadership has evolved during the pandemic, what drew Nancy towards a role within an organisation that has a security focus, the importance of culture within teams and the opportunities emerging in the current landscape.

This week we’re joined by Jamie Dunn, COO of Lawo a pioneering IP-based video and audio technology company for broadcast production. John Clifton and Tegan Lloyd Williams hosted an honest and fantastic episode and one of the key messages that shone through was Jamie’s great advice about taking opportunities when they present themselves. He’s taken this advice himself on several occasions which has led to a rich and varied career and the chance to travel and live overseas. It was also wonderful to hear Jamie extol the virtues of just how powerful and longstanding radio and audio really is – visual content is having a boom right now, but Audio has never been so popular.

From model, to CERN Engineer, to CEO of one of the most well-liked businesses in the satellite industry…just how did Alvaro Sanchez get himself into the position he is today? Well, this week the neuco podcast sheds light on the how, the why and the who!

As well as that, Alvaro shares his views on the ever-changing world of satellite and his feelings on why his business, Integrasys, has been so successful for so long when so many other businesses have faltered.

He talks about how he has made Integrasys a software business with 35% female staff and how excited he is for the future of the business.
