New Age Christianity

By Austin Fletcher
We all know the world is changing faster than ever. New Age Christianity is an attempt at embracing this change and figuring out just what Christianity looks like in this new age of history. Understanding there are universal truths, there is always the challenge of making those truths meaningful to the current trajectory of man. This is not a wishy-washy attempt at watering down the truth to make it 'relevant'. This is an acknowledgment that mankind is growing ever-closer to its original purpose, and in the age that is upon us, we must realize that we aren't the same race we've always been.

It is a rare moment when someone is able to get a clear view of a blind spot in their life. By the very nature of 'blind spots', we can't usually SEE them. And no matter how many times we have loved ones point them out to us, it seems that only Spirit can truly unveil the full extent of how they influence our lives.  In this episode, Kat Wilden shares her experience from the first ayahuasca ceremony and how that experience illuminated a major blind spot in her life. Namely, the fact that she is overly concerned with how people are perceiving her and her actions. As someone who has worked a lot on being confident in herself, not worrying about what other people think, and moving forward with strength and passion in the midst of naysayers, this revelation came as quite a shock to her... as one might expect when a blind spot is being clearly highlighted.  The revelations that came out of this ceremony for Kat have been highly enlightening for her, as well as other people in her life that grow with her. While there are many smaller concepts that we could have discussed in this episode, we primarily cover: - The fact that all of us are born into a world where we feel unsafe, and how we deal with that lack of safety can greatly determine who we become as adults. - The consistency with which we attract people into our lives who are there to serve as a 'mirror' of our own shortcomings... if we have eyes to see.

The intention of this episode is the help you regain your sense of identity in its PUREST form. Your true 'I AM-ness' is not found in your mind. Your true 'self' is something higher than your mind, and while you engage with it every day, it is VERY easy to overlook.  In all honesty, the content of this episode is extremely difficult to convey in words, and in a lot of ways, it may not be possible to convey from one person to another. It can only be talked around... hinted at... alluded to... etc. The only way to TRULY know what we're discussing in this episode is the EXPERIENCE it for yourself.  In short... you are a 3 part being; body, soul, and spirit. Each part of you has its own 'brain'; your gut (body), your heart (soul), and your brain (spirit). And while these 3 are often very distinct from each other, most of us haven't taken the time to differentiate their functions as they pertain to our sense of self. We think of ourselves as 'one' entity, and we fail to take the time to figure out how US actually works. And here's the kicker... YOU aren't actually any of these 3 parts. YOU are actually the 4th part that brings these 3 parts together. You reside OVER these other 3 parts.  Your 'I AM-ness' is the TRUE genius behind the curtain, and we do our best to introduce you to that genius in this episode. Hopefully, we've done enough to lead you to the path, but only you can find the way.

Kat and I are back from our Ayahuasca retreat and we are here to share our experiences.  We will be doing individual episodes on each of our 2 sessions (4 episodes in total) over the next month, but we wanted to share our overall impressions of the experience right out of the gate. In short... we both LOVED IT! We both experienced the process very differently, but it was exactly what we needed, and we're excited to share what we can with our NAC family.

In this episode, Kat Wilden and I discuss our upcoming weekend of Ayahuasca ceremonies (two of them, to be exact) in an attempt to have some version of a 'before' and 'after' snapshot of our thoughts on the journey. (We will be recording another episode AFTER the ceremonies.) For those who don't know what Ayahuasca is, we cover that pretty early in the podcast. For those who DO know what it is, hopefully, you'll find this episode useful for your own considerations as to whether or not you should participate in a similar ceremony someday. Either way, Kat and I share our thoughts and our own intentions around doing these ceremonies as well as our overall thoughts about hallucinogenic drugs and their effect on consciousness as a whole.  And to be clear... Ayahuasca is a hallucinogenic. It is a spiritual ceremony... led by a trained shaman... but it is, nonetheless, a 'trip' that we will be taking. DISCLAIMER: As we both stated in the recording, neither of us would be doing this without feeling 'led' to do so by Spirit. Thus, it must be stated that we would never recommend someone doing something like this without a similar sense of purpose and leading from their own intuition.

As the final wrapup of this accidental 5-part series with Ronnie Herrema, we do our best to 'land the plane' with a little bit of encouragement for those who find themselves looking for freedom from religion and fear. In our experience, there are 3 major phases to the process of finding freedom: Questioning Rebelling Resting The NAC community is filled with people in different phases of this process, and many people get stuck in one of the phases for years (sometimes indefinitely). Ronnie and I want to encourage those who are still in one of the first two phases to KEEP GOING! Heck, you can even give yourself permission to walk away from the process completely... JUST DON'T STOP! In this episode, we discuss: The top 3 realizations that Austin had in his journey to freedom There is no such thing as sin, as far as God is concerned.  If God is not everything (including the 'bad' stuff), there is no such thing as God.  Becoming personly authentic is the true goal of growth and existence. Who is in the audience of your life that you are performing for? Rebellion is not the point. Rebellion is a part of the process.  I'm not going to try to work on you. I'm going to work on myself to let you be you.  NAC is a safe place to explore your authenticity.

After 3 episodes (Episodes 82-84) of deconstructing so many of the ideas that we all grow up with, Ronnie wanted to take some time to share a bit of encouragement with the NAC community. As seems to be the new standard for the NAC podcast (not on purpose... it just keeps happening), this interview went pretty long and has been split into 2 episodes.  I personally loved having this chat with Ronnie after the first 3 episodes. While I already knew that Ronnie has great thoughts on what life can look like, post-Christian, I knew that much of the first 3 episodes needed to be 'concluded' with some coherent ideas about 'What now?', and this interview did not disappoint! In this first episode, we discuss: Will there be sex in heaven? What about emotions? Will we have our 5 senses? Etc. The process of gaining our 4 names. The process of growing in consciousness and its ultimate manifestation in rebellion. Thinking for yourself is THE POINT.
July 12, 2020
As the final discussion of this 3-part interview with Ronnie, I ask him the same question I ask anyone who endeavors to articulate their beliefs through thoughtful discussion... "How's that working for you?" In my experience with beliefs, religious or otherwise, it all comes down to the energetic reality of whether or not the things you are engaging with are ACTUALLY working for you. Is your life full of abundance? Are you happy? Do you love being YOU? Etc. Etc. Etc. ... You know ... that 'life, and life abundantly' thing that Jesus talks about? Are the religious practices and spiritual perspectives you engage with actually finding their part in improving your life? Well... In this interview, I ask Ronnie this question and he begins to share his answer. Hint... it's actually working for him way better than his previous set of beliefs ever did, but he'll explain it much better that I can. Enjoy!

Have you ever heard of the new 'religious' classification that's been showing up in studies called the 'Nones'? In short, Nones are people who no longer identify with ANY religious background.  You probably know exactly what I'm talking about... Those intake forms that ask you what your religious affiliation is, and the ever-increasing desire to simply mark 'none' because none of the options presented to you are representative of your actual beliefs. Yeah... that 'none'. Well, Ronnie Herrema is the most articulate 'Noneist' I've ever known, and I believe his journey will resonate with many of the New Age Christians in this community. Heck, the title of 'New Age Christian' really only exists so that a bunch of 'nones' can have some sort of wisdom tradition to point to in helping others understand what they believe... and even that title (New Age Christian) is intentionally flexible and customizable.  This interview with Ronnie is the second of 3 episodes with him. This one focuses on some of the big picture questions that Ronnie has been asking for the past few years and really comes down to earth regarding his thoughts about God and Spirituality in a way that a lot of 'New Age Christians' probably haven't heard. In full disclosure, there are things in this episode that I don't personally believe, but NAC has never been about the avoidance of difficult thoughts and diverse ideas. This episode will challenge most anyone who hears it... so... get ready to enjoy!
June 28, 2020
The episode is reminiscent of an earlier episode (Episode 23) I recorded with Christopher Teasdale about giving yourself 'permission' to change your beliefs, and as a fair warning, I must say... Listen to the next 3 episodes at your own risk!  Ronnie Herrema is a great friend of mine, and as always, he is loaded with insights and challenging observations in this interview. He has a way of putting to words the same things that we all feel, but never say. Whether it is because we are afraid to truly look at the things we're feeling, unable to articulate the energies we're experiencing, or too scared to start saying them out loud... we all struggle to tackle certain questions in our lives that Ronnie seems to effortlessly dance with.  In Part 1 of this interview, Ronnie and I start with 'deconstructing' fundamentalist Christianity. We are as respectful and honest as we know how to be, so don't worry about this being a 'bash the Church' episode. Nonetheless, the way that Ronnie talks about his own journey out of fundamentalism is ... well ... refreshing!  Enjoy!

As I look back over the last year and a half, it seems like a large number of the podcast episodes we produce at NAC are centered around this challenge of creating the life you want while understanding that there is a higher consciousness (a.k.a. God) that might now just a tincy-wincy bit more than you do about the best way to go about things. In many ways, as a New Age Christian, you may find that your ENTIRE quest of 'spiritual' growth has come down to the core question of, "How do I work WITH this higher consciousness in a way that most completely fulfills my desire to live an abundant and meaningful life?" (Or some version thereof.)  Once you've figured out that there is no one 'up there' who's judging your every thought and move, you begin to have mental space for other thoughts about the meaning of life, the connection between God and humanity, the oneness of all things, and the pursuit of liberty and happiness. When this new energy finally becomes your every-day-reality, you find out that any challenge to your continued connection to God really becomes about learning the best ways to communicate with the wisdom of the One, and how to implement the things you're 'hearing' in the physical.  So... In light of that broader sense of learning and growth, here is yet another episode about how to work with Spirit as you live your life. Enjoy!

I don’t hide the fact that I’m a ‘libertarian’ when it comes to political issues. I don’t hide the fact that I still identify as ‘Christian’ as my primary religious identification. If you meet me in person or watch these podcast episodes on YouTube, it’s easy to see that I’m white and male. While we’re at it… I’m a Scorpio I’m an American I have a 4-year college degree I’ve been divorced and I can be identified by about 20,000 OTHER collective ‘markers’ as well So now you know everything about me, right? Long pause for effect… OF COURSE YOU DON’T! Identifying individuals merely by the collective groupings that they fit into is one of the easiest things to do in our modern world, and is perhaps the most toxic social norm in existence. When I identify you by the groups you ‘belong’ in, I lose sight of YOU as an individual. In this episode, I share my thoughts on why I believe collectivism is the ‘cancer’ of our current societal breakdown, and why individualism is the ultimate answer for world peace and the oneness of all things.

Over the course of 13 weeks, I shared many stories, insights, perspectives, and examples of how I’ve learned to work with The Secret. Many of these ideas are universal in their application because they are based on principles. However, many of them are subjective to my own experience and personality. Thankfully… I have friends… This interview with Kat was SOOO loaded with insights and additional information I didn’t cover in the series, I had to split it into 2 separate episodes. This first episode is largely a philosophical discussion about the Law of Attraction, and the second episode is more nuts and bolts about how Kat engages with it. Enjoy!

In addition to hearing some of her stories, we have a great processing discussion about the need for a FULLY crafted ‘ask’, as opposed to cherry-picking changes that you want to make in your life one at a time. Truth be told… this episode exposes one of the biggest challenges I’ve seen people struggle with in this journey, and I’m very glad it came up.

Saying No To GodAlthough bumper stickers abound that propose otherwise, the Bible itself reveals that just because “God says it,” does not, in fact, mean “that settles it.” On the contrary, a close reading of Scripture reveals that God does not want us to blindly obey him, but rather, invites us to “lock hands” with him and fight. The purpose of this book is to show another way to understand the Bible, one in which readers are not asked to accept what God says, but on the contrary: to say no to it, not because they merely want to, but because the God of the Bible actually requires it. In this episode, we get to know Matthew Korpman, author of Saying No To God. If you’ve ever wondered what to do with moments in scripture where people seem to defy God and ‘get away with it’, this discussion is a great place to start.

As a wrap-up to our series on Unpacking The Secret, I wanted to fill in some of the gaps that these episodes may not have covered to this point. When you combine the fact that your life is a perfect reflection of your beliefs with the fact that the Law of Attraction is always working, you’re left with one not-so-obvious dilemma… The ONLY way to change your life is to change your beliefs. This reality is why I started Belief IQ. Once I figured out that lasting life change requires belief change, I set out on a 5-year journey to find the most thorough way to address my beliefs and set them in the positions I needed them to be in order to create the life that I WANT. In the course of this journey, I’ve discovered a few things: If you want to change your life… you need to be willing to CHANGE your life The fact is, you already have the life you’ve wanted You must let go of your desires and trust their inevitable return Wishing is powerless. Decision is creation itself. Hacking the Law of Vibration is a must.

Assuming you’ve been listening throughout the last 11 episodes of this series, you already know that the universe can only CREATE. It can certainly create destruction, but it can’t create a ‘not’. Telling the universe to create a ‘not’ is like me telling you to not think about a pink elephant. The mere fact that I’ve mentioned a pink elephant dictates that the overall energy of that command is ALL ABOUT a pink elephant. Regardless of my desire to have you NOT thinking about a pink elephant, every time I mention a pink elephant, you can’t help but think a little bit more about a pink elephant. I can even assume that you don’t even WANT to be thinking about pink elephants, but have you noticed that the energy of this entire discussion is now 100% about pink elephants, regardless of our desire for having it be energetically about pink elephants (or not)? Do you know how we can get the energy of this ‘discussion’ off of pink elephants and on to something else? You guessed it… just stop thinking about pink elephants. You know that pink elephants are not fun to think about, so obviously the best way to not think about pink elephants is to start talking about how NOT to talk about pink elephants. Everyone knows this is how you stop making people think about pink elephants. Just start telling everyone to stop thinking about pink elephants. …. And now you know how the universe feels every time you bring the things you don’t want into the discussion. (I hope it wasn’t too annoying.) For those who are stuck on pink elephants now… start thinking about black stallions… that should help. LOL In this episode we discuss: How to focus on what you DO want… not what you DON’T want The importance of vibration over words The lie of scarcity Stop ‘fighting’ things

Off the top of your head… Can you guess what the most successful drug of ALL TIME has been? I’ll give you a hint… It’s fake. Well… It’s not actually fake in of itself. It’s just fake as a ‘drug’. If you guessed, Placebo, congratulations! … You already know what this episode is all about now. The relationship between the Law of Attraction and Health is perhaps the most readily accepted application of The Secret that you’ll find, but it is also one of the most difficult to understand in the world that we live in. Just look at the Placebo Effect and you’ll see what I mean. In this episode we discuss: How everything is frequency, including sickness and disease How your heart and mind CREATE frequencies The reality of trapped emotions and their effect on the body How your beliefs attract external sources of sickness Stress is the ultimate disease

One of the hardest truths to wrap your head around about the Law of Attraction is that YOU have attracted EVERYTHING into your life. While people love taking credit for the good things in their life, it becomes a much larger pill to swallow when you begin to realize that you’ve also attracted the bad things. In my experience, the most difficult thing to accept about the principles surrounding this entire discussion is that you have even attracted the negative dynamics connected to the OTHER PEOPLE in your life. Yes, they are responsible for their own actions, but you are responsible for being the one in that relationship. So… what can you do about this? In this episode we discuss: The fact that it is YOUR job to make you happy… no one else’s ‘You’ exists 100% in your head Becoming the person you want to be Loving others 100% authentically Finding relational patterns that repeat themselves in your life

It’s time to kick-off Part 3 of Unpacking The Secret where we start to apply the things we’ve covered in specific areas of our lives. As the title suggests, in this first episode we’re going to discuss how the Law of Attraction applies specifically the Money and Success. Let me ask you… do you KNOW what your dreams REALLY are? You know… those things you ‘wish’ you had or those goals you imagine yourself accomplishing someday. Have you taken the time and intention to artfully define EXACTLY what those are? In this episode, I share my favorite financial ‘dreaming’ framework from Tony Robbins’ book, Money Master the Game where it lays out a 5 stage path to absolute financial freedom. The basic premise of this framework is to get you to think TRULY think about how much money you would need in order to never have to work another day in your life and only be living off of the interest your investments (not depleting your principle). We then focus on what to do once you’ve actually figured out what your dreams are. Following intuition, adjusting your energetic focus, and thinking through your ONE THING are all tools that you can use to start getting yourself lined up for the shortest path from where you are to where you want to be.

Time and time again, I watch people get introduced to ‘The Secret’ and get SUUUUUPER excited about the fact that they can change their lives on purpose, only to watch 90% of these same people slip right back into their same lives in a matter of weeks with zero change in site. Sometimes these people regain their excitement at a later date, but for the most part, I’ve found that working with the Law of Attraction takes practice, and most people don’t like to practice. For the rest of us who have understood the true value that is buried within the concepts of the Law of Attraction and refuse to give up working with it just because it takes extended effort, I’ve put together my best attempt at a ‘Troubleshooting’ episode that I hope will cut your ‘practice’ season short. In this episode we cover: How the idea of pregnancy and expectancy can help your mind find the perfect balance between what is coming and what is still not here. The value of being BRUTALLY HONEST with YOURSELF about what you REALLY think. How to use the Feng Shui of your life to show you what vibration you’re truly carrying. Some uses of Muscle Testing as a tool to help you troubleshoot.

Like many of us, I’m still finding it hard to believe (and a bit frustrating) that I even need to put out an episode like this, but as an emergency preparedness ‘expert’, I couldn’t just sit back and do nothing. This episode covers 3 different aspects of what you might consider doing in an emergency situation like this. As you might have guessed, it covers all 3 dimensions of life: Spirit: How to work with the Law of Attraction and Spiritual skills during this time. Soul: The importance of following intuition above ALL else. Body: Practical things you can do to help prepare you and your family.

The title of this episode pretty much sums it up. If you’ve enjoyed the series so far, but you’ve been wondering what you can actually DO to start working with The Secret (The Law of Attraction), this is the episode you’ve been waiting for! In this episode we discuss: How every tool we use for spiritual manifestation is ultimately a ‘hair’. Visualization Muscle Testing and Energy Work Vision Boards Mirroring and Thought Hacking

Over the past 6 years of teaching The Secret, I have found that no matter how many times I say it, inevitably people still fall into the trap of thinking that it’s not working for them because they don’t have enough faith. The energy of this though is almost always in line with the feeling that they simply need to do a ‘better job’ at believing so that the universe will ‘reward’ them with the thing they’ve asked for. In other words… they feel like they need to EARN their desired results. Feeling like you need to ‘earn’ the things you desire from the universe is akin to feeling like you need to ‘earn’ the right answer from a calculator. Your behavior and conscious effort have NOTHING to do with it. It is simply a matter of what inputs you have employed, and what outputs you are hoping for. If you put in the right data, you will receive the desired answers. Put in the wrong data, you will receive whatever answer correlates to that data. It’s really that simple. (This, by the way, is the answer to why good things happen to bad people and why bad things happen to good people.) In this episode, we discuss why receiving is actually the EASIEST part of the entire process of working with the Law of Attraction. If you’ve done the first two parts ‘correctly’, the third part is 100% (receiving) a natural result that comes easily… just like getting the right answer from a calculator.

If I’ve quoted it once, I’ve quoted it a thousand times: JesusWhen you pray, believe that you have what you’ve asked for and it shall be given to you. Have you ever stopped to consider the idea that maybe this isn’t JUST a formula for how to get the things that you want? Yes… It is certainly the energetic reality of how to pray and get the things you want. I regularly refer to this truth on The New Age Christian Podcast, but it isn’t the only implication of the statement. Underneath the primary intention of the statement, I believe Jesus was pointing us to a deeper truth of the fact that this is how the universe works. Simply put… You HAVE everything you’ve BEEN believing for! You might be thinking, “But Austin, I never prayed for sickness, debt, and turmoil.” To which I say, sure, you might have never officially gotten down on your knees and ‘prayed’ for those things, but have you ever considered that prayer NEVER stops? If you’re a New Age Christian (or you’re at least listening to this podcast), I’m going to assume that you’ve started to understand just how ‘normal’ our spirituality really is. There is no separation between you and God. You ARE the physical manifestation of God in individual form. As such, what you think IS prayer. In the Bible, Paul encourages us to ‘pray without ceasing’. I would argue that you’ve been doing that your whole life; you just didn’t know it. In this episode we cover: That you ALREADY have everything you’ve BEEN asking for. Beliefs do not reside in your conscious mind. Do you TRULY believe that NOTHING is impossible? True belief is followed by action.

It may be a surprise for you to hear that Jesus talks a lot about the law of Attraction. He tells us that we can ask him for ANYTHING, and He will do it. Jesus, again, tells us that those who ask, receive, those who seek, find, and to those who knock, the door will be opened. And my personal favorite, “When you pray, believe that you have what you’ve asked for, and it shall be given to you.” In short… Jesus (and the Bible) affirms the reality of the Law of Attraction over and over again. So why do so many Christians doubt it as a viable law of the universe? I believe the reason that so many people doubt that the Law of Attraction actually works can be found in James’ biblical statement that, “You have not because you ask not, and when you ask, you ask amiss.” Just stop and think about this statement for a minute. Is James really saying that the reason our lives don’t look exactly how we would like them to is that we don’t ask for the change we desire, or that when we do, we’re simply doing it wrong? Yes. That is exactly what I believe he is saying. In this episode, we discuss the ART of how to ask, which includes: The 2 prerequisite steps one must take BEFORE asking The signs that you haven’t actually believed what you’ve asked for Mental math that you can do to make sure you’ve decided on the thing that you truly want

So many of us who have grown up in Christian homes or spent a lot of time around ‘spiritual communities’ have become keenly aware of just how important the thoughts of our heart and the words of our mouth may be. We have played our part in helping our friends catch negative confessions or inverted thought patterns by calling them out on what they think and say. We’ve asked others to help us catch our own lack of belief and not let us spiral into depressed thinking or faithlessness. In a word… we’ve TRIED! Yet… For all of our ‘trying’, most of us haven’t seen any REAL change in our lives in the areas that we’ve been trying to work on for years. Why is this? Because thoughts and words are primarily conscious, and conscious activity accounts for only 5% (give or take) of the overall vibration that you carry with you in this world. And NO MATTER HOW MUCH you work on your thoughts and your confessions, if you don’t address your EMOTIONS and FEELINGS, you will NEVER bring those positive desires into the NOW. In this episode, we discuss the reason why FEELING is the secret to working with the Law of Attraction to intentionally change your life. Thinking about it won’t suffice. Envisioning it won’t cut it. Affirmations won’t change a thing. NONE of these tools will work on their own. But ALL of these tools are useful for getting you to the place where you FEEL that you have the thing you’re asking for. And FEELING that you have what you’ve asked for is the only way to vibrate the proper version of your desires so as to set the creative process in motion that will bring your desires to fruition.

In my journey of studying the Law of Attraction, I have learned one VERY important truth that I find to be consistently overlooked in most presentations of the Law at its principles. Namely, the fact that while thoughts do, indeed, become ‘things’, not all thoughts have equal creative power in their process. In other words… Not all thoughts are created equally. For the purposes of making this point, I have distinguished the two major types of thoughts that we have as ‘thoughts’ and ‘beliefs’. Thoughts are conscious. Beliefs are subconscious. The question then becomes… which ones are more powerful, and how can we change them? In this episode we cover: The difference between thoughts and beliefs and how they relate to the conscious and subconscious How to address subconscious beliefs Pointers on how to figure out what you REALLY believe The Biology of Belief

This is the first episode of our 13-week series on Unpacking The Secret. In this episode, we begin our philosophical introduction to what ‘the secret’ is (The Law of Attraction) and how it works. Details discussed in this episode: The Law of Attraction is one of 12 Universal Laws This creative process ONLY works in the affirmative Thoughts are frequency, and thus, attract everything that vibrates at the same frequency

We’re about to embark on a new series called Unpacking the Secret. What secret? THE Secret. The Secret is a book written by Rhonda Byrne in 2006, and it was made into a movie a few years later. It has sold well over 30 million copies and has changed the lives of countless individuals who have applied the principles it shares. The Secret is, simply put… The Law of Attraction… and we’re going to do a 13-week series that breaks down the finer details of this Universal Law so that you can be better equipped to change your life ON PURPOSE. This episode is simply an introduction to the series that will start next week, and at the end of the episode, you can listen to the audio version of the movie if you’ve never read the book or watched the movie itself.

Is God a man or a woman? In Gen 1:27 the Bible states that we were made in the image of God as male and female, and in the verse before that, it even says, “Let US make man in OUR image…” which seems to imply… that there is more than one God? Wait, that can’t be right… right? If you’ve never taken the time to break down the idea that humanity is made in the image of God, but that humanity ALSO has two distinct genders, the question of God’s foundational makeup may not be all that big of a deal to you. On the other hand, for those of us who’ve spent any decent amount of time contemplating this mystery, I believe the perspectives shared in this episode will not only shed light on this question but will also touch on many other foundational ideas about humanity that we don’t often even think about. In this episode we discuss: The 2 Creation accounts of Gen 1 and 2 The spiritual reality of male and female (beyond the physical) The reason that men and women must BOTH exist as a full expression of God The role of Spirit and Soul

Have you ever stopped to think about why we celebrate Christmas on December 25th? Supposedly, it’s Jesus’ birthday, right? Even if that were true, have you ever wondered why we put all of our lights outside, bring trees inside, and stay up all night to catch a glimpse of a man who supposed to break into your house and leave presents? There are an awful lot of crazy traditions around Christmas that don’t make a lot of sense when you stop to think about it. But that’s just it… I don’t think a lot of us even WANT to stop and think about it. We would rather just enjoy the traditions that we grew up with and remember what it was like when we were kids and the world was kinder and the gifts were free. For my part, I have always been someone who values intentionality, and holiday traditions are one of the best places to start looking if you want to find a meaningful purpose behind what we do and why we do it. And after researching the history of Christmas and combining it with my existing understanding of the story of the ages, I’m more excited about Christmas than I’ve ever been. In this episode we discuss: The common thread of Christmas throughout history The true meaning of the winter solstice and Yule The potential for a broader celebration of Jesus and the New Year

As I’ve gotten older I’ve noticed that the holiday season seems to be garnering more and more negative attention. Whether it be well-meaning Christians who feel the need to point out every little flaw in the historical accuracy or legitimacy of a particular holiday, eco-conscious individuals who lament the tradition of Christmas trees and non-biodegradable tinsel, or budget-minded families who can’t stand the consumerism of Black Friday and gift wrapping; it seems that everywhere you turn, there is a reason to boycott holiday traditions and humbug your way through the next family gathering. In this episode, we discuss some of the deeper reasons why feasting, gift-giving, and parties are actually a major part of the human story. We were created for many things, chief amongst them, to enjoy living. In my opinion, the constant degradation of the holiday spirit has stemmed from a lack of understanding the basic purpose of these types of celebrations at their core. This, in turn, has set us on the EXACT OPPOSITE path in our attempts to fix ‘what’s wrong’ with the holidays by trimming down and being basic. Instead, I think we should re-frame how we think about these seasons and spend even more time and money on them as we indulge in the beauty of living a celebratory life. In this episode we cover: What role parties and celebrations played in the true Biblical ‘tithe’ How to re-frame the holidays and potentially change your life in the process The reality of consumerism and it’s challenges

In 1997, Pastor Rick Warren wrote a book called The Purpose Driven Life. This book took the Christian world by storm, and 22 years later its ideas are embedded deep within the subconscious framework of how many people view human existence. The question is, are they accurate ideas? As the title of this episode suggests, I don’t believe that everyone on the earth has been assigned a specific, divine purpose (as presented in Pastor Warren’s book). Do I think SOME people have a divinely ‘assigned’ purpose? Yes. Do I think 7.7 billion souls are all meant to create a deep and lasting impact on the world as we know it? No. To be clear… I think The Purpose Driven Life is a great book… for some people. But for many, the central idea that it carries has created nothing but condemnation and striving in their lives, all the while, causing them to miss out on the true meaning of life. In this episode we cover: The downside of the ideas behind The Purpose Driven Life The true purpose of life How to know if you have a purpose How to interact with others who may or may not have a big purpose

Jesus gave us a ‘formula’ for getting the things we want out of life… “When you pray, believe that you have what you’ve asked for, and it shall be given to you.” Simple enough, right? For a formula that seems so simple, there sure are a lot of people who don’t appear to have the things they are asking for, so what’s the deal? How does this formula actually work? Was Jesus just kidding? Is this REALLY how things work? In my experience, the real point that Jesus is making is can be unpacked by examining the feeling of gratitude. Why? Because gratitude is an energy/emotion that can only show up AFTER you have the thing you’ve been wanting. Thus, if you can feel true gratitude in advance of having the thing you’ve been wanting, you can rest assured that you have fulfilled the requirements of this ‘formula’. In this episode we cover: The role that gratitude plays in the creative process/law of attraction How to activate gratitude in advance of having what you want How to keep the feeling of gratitude over time Why gratitude is the cornerstone energy of prayer

Well… I’m back from being stuck in Ohio, but I’m still not caught up with normal life stuff yet, so this is another short episode. As I sat here in my office trying to sort out what I was going to talk about, I realized that I was feeling that old familiar ‘pressure’ of religious leadership where you ‘HAVE TO’ have something to say because it’s Sunday and everyone is expecting it. Well… I’ve punched that demon in the face too many times to count, so what’s one more, huh? In short… I ended up sharing my thoughts about being authentic and why having 2 weeks of short episodes back-to-back is something that I ‘need’ to be able to do in a community of spiritual fellowship. It’s short and sweet, but I believe it’s an important episode for the long-term reality of NAC.

Wow! What a crazy few weeks it has been. I’m on the road and have been stuck in Ohio for a full week longer than I had planned. 1 New Truck and thousands of dollars later, I at least wanted to send out a quick episode for our weekly listeners to catch up and stay in touch. As a reflection on the events of the past week, I wanted to share some thoughts I’ve been meditating on about the idea of Feng Shui and the fact that your life is a perfect reflection of your beliefs. Nothing that happens in our lives is a reflection of God’s ‘opinion’ of us. Everything is a manifestation of the vibration we cary.

As someone who has experienced very tangible paranormal encounters and spiritual warfare, Halloween has always been a bit of a sketchy subject for me. I’ve seen real demons. I’ve ministered to people who have been stuck in true darkness. I’ve even found blood altars where black cats have been sacrificed in the middle of a pentagram drawn on the ground (as a kid). Point being… Evil is real, and there’s nothing anyone can say to convince me that its “not that big of a deal”. At the same time, I am also very aware of the power that I hold as a messenger of light. I know that fear of demons accomplishes nothing but giving them more authority over my mind. I know that the only way for love to win is for those who carry the power of God to walk into the dark places and turn the light on. In this episode, we talk with Elaine and Cody Johnston about their love of Halloween, and what viewpoints they hold about the overall energy of the holiday. We discuss their experiences with the demonic and other forms of darkness, and why those experiences haven’t kept them from enjoying the Halloween season. I really enjoyed getting to talk with the Johnstons about this holiday, and I hope you get as much out of their perspectives as I did.

We all know the saying made famous by Jesus Christ, “The truth shall set you free.” But have you ever really taken the time to consider the depth of what He’s saying? If so, the chances are that you’ve spent 100% of that time trying to figure out what the ‘truth’ is. But have you ever considered meditating on what freedom is? Most of us don’t spend any time thinking about the ‘freedom’ portion of this statement because we don’t have to. We KNOW what freedom feels like. We don’t have to wonder or pontificate or search for it. When freedom shows up, we know exactly what it is. That is, of course, unless religion has sufficiently locked you into a prison of rules to the point where you don’t even know that you’re in bondage… but I digress. Let me get to the point… What would happen if you pursued freedom instead of truth? What if, instead of THINKING your way forward in life, you decided to start FEELING your way forward through life. Do you think, at the end of your pursuit of freedom, that you would be surrounded by more truth or less truth? Jesus said that the Spirit of Truth would lead us into ALL truth. Paul states that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. It seems to me that truth and freedom go so hand in hand that you might be better off pursuing freedom over truth… But that’s just me. SHARE THIS:

As the final episode in the path to enlightenment series, I wanted to leave you with some parting thoughts about how I view life and what major perspectives I hold that have underpinned the last 10 episodes of this series. As we all search for a better experience of being human, I’ve found that there are a few simple concepts that I’ve picked up along my journey that I can easily take for granted that other people ‘know’ them too. The truth is, I had to LEARN these things along the way, so the chances are, so will other people. In this episode, I share 4 of my favorite books/concepts that have fundamentally shaped the way I think (plus 1 bonus idea that I discovered in the past year that has helped a lot). In this episode we cover: The reason for honoring EVERYONE The value of vulnerability and its role in expanding your options for growth Why YOU are truly your greatest obstacle to growth The MAIN question that you’re always asking, even if you don’t realize it Assesment tests and how they can help you go further, faster

The problem with needing to connect with the Spirit of God as your guide is not that He doesn’t speak to you or She only communicates to super-spiritual people. The problem with connecting with Spirit is that spiritual communication is incredibly subjective, and correspondingly, very difficult to pass on from one person to the next. Every one of us has our own natural bents/skills when it comes to spiritual communication, but very few of us have taken the time or had the privilege to be shown how to master these bents/skills or how to ‘turn on’ new ones. In this episode, I attempt to share 3 of my favorite spiritual communication tools and help you gain a larger understanding of how spiritual communication works. The truth is, Spirit is ALWAYS speaking to those who know HOW to listen. In this episode we cover: How to turn on a particular form of Spiritual Communication Tips and tricks about dream interpretation How synchronicities work and how to customize them to fit you The difference between signs and omens and how to use them

We’ve all been told by spiritual gurus and doctors alike that mediation is good for you. We all know that it’s something we ‘should probably do’, but for some reason, most of us never really make it a priority enough to even try. But if we’re honest with ourselves, we feel an almost primal pull to some level of desire for mediation… if only we could find a way to naturally add it to our daily lives. I believe mediation is way more simple than most people have been led to believe. We all do it, all the time. There is only one missing ingredient for most of us. In this episode we cover: The missing ingredient to meditation (intention) Different types of meditation and why to use them Tips and tricks for improving your mediative practice Why it is important to find what works for YOU

Although we’ve already done an episode on The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of the Law of Attraction, I felt like it was appropriate to spend a full episode attempting to unpack the basics of the Law of Attraction as a tool for creating the life you want on your way to enlightenment. This universal law is something that is ALWAYS at work in your life, whether you know it or not. It works at all times, for all people, in all things. Good things. Bad things. Trivial things. Important things. The Law of Attraction can be your greatest ally for change and creating the life you desire, or it can be the cause never-ending malaise of normalcy and ‘stuckness’ that you can’t seem to shake. Given the role that the Law of Attraction plays in our lives, I tend to think the understanding how it works and learning how to work WITH it is a goal worth having. This episode is simply an intro to the concept, but it is loaded with nuggets and insights that can only come from years of working with it intentionally. In this episode we cover: What the Law of Attraction is The difference between “trying” and “doing” How to use the Law of Attraction Ask – be specific Believe – do not waver Receive – watch for natural gratitude to come from within What being “Anti-fragile” has to do with creating the life you desire

Now that we’ve covered the different paths to enlightenment for different personality types, it’s time to start sharing some of my favorite tools/concepts that I’ve found useful for my own journey. In this episode, Grant Porteous and I discuss a book by Raymond Charles Barker, The Power of Decision and what role your decisions make in your journey. Truth be told… This may be my favorite episode of the NAC Podcast yet. I always love talking with Grant and I’m very excited for the NAC audience to hear more from him and his unique insights into life. If you want to connect with Grant directly, check out his website at, and be sure to tell him that you heard him on the NAC Podcast. In this episode we cover: How every decision is essentially a belief How decisions flow ‘down stream‘ to their ultimate end Some trouble shooting tips on how to change limiting beliefs and make different decisions Tons of small insights into the internal mechanism of the creative process in the individual

After doing 4 individual episodes on the DISC Personality Assessment methodology, what does a Conscientious (C) podcast host do … How about 1 more episode just for the fun of it?!?! As the title suggests, in this episode we wrap up the discussion about the different paths to enlightenment for different personality types by diving into some tips and tricks, if you will. Namely, most of us are a mix of personality types and depending on how that mix plays out in your life, you will likely deal with things quite differently than other people who may have your same primary personality flavor. In this episode we cover: Insights on how your secondary personality type will influence your primary The definition of ‘work’ for different personalities Tips on how to build around your strengths and weaknesses How understanding the quadrants of the DISC diagram (below) can help you easily see insights into your actions and the actions of others

If you got excited when you first found out that we were going to be doing a 12 episode series on The Path to Enlightenment, there’s a really good chance that was the ‘C’ part of you. If you’ve been purchasing every one of the different books that have been recommended throughout this series, I want to say, welcome to the ‘C’ side of life my friend, I’m glad there’s another well informed New Age Christian out there in the world… Some might say… too informed… but still, I’m glad to have the company (I am a ‘C’ myself). As a continuation of our 4 episodes focusing on the 4 personality types within the DISC personality profile system, this episode focuses on the ‘C’ of the DISC acronym, the Conscientious individuals amongst us. Conscientious personality types are data hounds that are so glad the internet was invented. Got a random question you don’t know the answer to, Google it… Oh wait… your ‘C’ friend already did. Why? Because the most important thing in the world is having the right answers to every question, that’s why. In this episode we cover: What a Conscientious (C) is The pros and cons of being a ‘C’ The best tools (according to Austin Fletcher) for ‘C’s to use in their journey to find enlightenment The role of The Creative Process in the Individual as a tool for freedom What traditional ‘enlightenment’ concepts probably won’t work for a ‘C’

You know those people in your life who you just love hanging around because they are so easy going and a delightful to talk to, the people in your network of friends that almost nobody has anything bad to say about… Yeah… They are almost definately an ‘S’. As a continuation of our 4 episodes focusing on the 4 personality types within the DISC personality profile system, this episode focuses on the ‘S’ of the DISC acronym, the Steadfast(s). Steadfast personalities are the salt of the earth, loyal friends who are always there for you. If you have an emergency at 3AM in the morning, they are the friends that you call first. They are the ‘glue’ that holds our society together, and they would rather talk about your life than theirs… but we’re gonna talk about them anyway. In this episode we cover: What a Steadfast (S) is The pros and cons of being an ‘S’ The best tools (according to Austin Fletcher) for ‘S’s to use in their journey to find enlightenment The role of The Power of Now as a tool for freedom What traditional ‘enlightenment’ concepts probably won’t work for an ‘S’

If the idea of pursuing enlightenment has ever sounded boaring to you, you’re probably an Influencer personality (an ‘I’) and this podcast episode is for YOU. As a continuation of our 4 episodes focusing on the 4 personality types within the DISC personality profile system, this episode focuses on the ‘I’ of the DISC acronym, the Influencers. Influencers are largely driven by fun and the desire to change their environment through having an impact on others around them. Less focused on tasks, Influencers want… you guessed it… INFLUENCE. In this episode we cover: What an Influencer (I) is The pros and cons of being an ‘I’ The best tools (according to Austin Fletcher) for ‘I’s to use in their journey to find enlightenment The role of The 4 Agreements as a tool for freedom What traditional ‘enlightenment’ concepts probably won’t work for an 'I'

In the first episode of this series we discussed what enlightenment is and why there are multiple paths that we can take to get there. In this episode, we continue the discussion by diving deeper into the enlightenment journey through the lens of the DISC Personality Profile. In the DISC Personality Profile, the “D” stands for ‘Dominant’. Dominant personalities, like all personalities, have specific traits that make them tick. They like to move fast, take charge, know their boundaries, and change their environment. There is hardly a major world leader in history that didn’t have a significant amount of ‘D’ in their makeup. In this episode we cover: What a Dominant (D) is The pros and cons of being a ‘D’ The best tools (according to Austin Fletcher) for D’s to use in their journey to find enlightenment The role of Radical Honesty as a tool for freedom What traditional ‘enlightenment’ concepts probably won’t work for a ‘D’

This is the first episode of a new series entitle “The Path to Enlightenment”. In the episode I introduce the series as a whole along with explaining some of the major concepts one will need to have in place in order to FULLY understand the episodes that are to follow. The main question addressed in this episode as it pertains to introducing the overall series is defining what ‘enlightenment’ even is. Throughout history there have been two primary answers to this question: Enlightenment is manifesting heaven on earth. Becoming at peace with all that is, and living in such a way as to transcend all emotional pain and turmoil, no matter the circumstance. Enlightenment is emptying yourself of all limitation and transcending your very life itself. Being able to leave the body and enter into unity consciousness with God. Personally… and for the sake of this series… I define enlightenment as being BOTH of these states combined. After all, isn’t that exactly what Jesus showed us? In preparation for the coming series, you may want to purchase some books that I will be discussing over the coming weeks. Each week I will link to the book(s) from that specific episode, but in this introductory episode, I wanted to give a full list of books that we’ll be going over throughout the series.

The New Age Christian community is growing, and as we grow, I want to continue introducing you to more and more of your fellow ‘New Age Christians’. Luke Lints is a spiritual son of mine that I’ve known for the last 5 years or so. He is one of those people who looks at things from a different angle than most, and a few of his answers in this interview will prove what I’m talking about. As always, I’m sure you will be able to identify with different parts of his story. Enjoy!

NAC’s goal is to generate an identity (of sorts) the people can rally around. In creating this identity, one of the things that we value is the fact that no one person or group of people should be the ones to define it. That’s why we will be adding BONUS episodes into our podcast lineup as we develop more relationships with other groups that are on the same journey. We’re not sure where this will take things, but we know you’ll enjoy hearing from other people who see things in a complimentary way to you. This episode was an interview that Austin Fletcher did with Cody an Elaine of The Reckless Pursuit. They are an awesome couple and we’re really excited to share their stuff with the NAC community. Check out their site at and their Facebook page at This episode can be found on their site at Their podcast can be found on all the major podcast outlets as well, so subscribe to their channel and lets build this community! Have you ever felt like what you were taught about faith was based more on a list of what not to do more than a freedom you feel Christ offers? Or have you ever wondered why we preach sermons of fear more than sermons about overcoming? If so, you are not alone! This week, we are talking with Austin Fletcher, host of New Age Christianity. We are discussing the freedom of true spirituality versus the controlling fear religion can lead to. Whether you realize it or not, God has set us free from sin nature and law. Austin shares with us his life mantra of trying to live by the verse which states “Everything is permissible”. Most of the time, our first reaction would be to quickly try to finish the second half of the verse but let it sink in: Everything is in fact permissible. Sure, there are things we should not dabble in. This is not an excuse to justify sin. But when you are living according to the Spirit our desire falls in line with God’s purpose. It’s been over a year since we have done an episode on this very topic and this time, we brought the guy who created the podcast about it! We have entered into a new age of Christianity so let’s explore what God is offering up. Austin’s words are strong and can challenge us but let them sink in. Just because it’s different from what you have always heard doesn’t make it wrong.

In this episode, I interview Cody and Elaine Johnston, hosts of The Reckless Pursuit Podcast. Cody and Elaine reached out to me a few weeks ago after they found the NAC Podcast on iTunes, and after a few messages and a Zoom chat, we realized we had a TON in common. While our visions are slightly different, the amount of overlap is perfect for cross-pollinating our communities and projects. If you get a chance, check out their website at or their Facebook page at I know you’ll enjoy getting to know these two and I highly recommend joining their Nomads Community if you’re looking for more great relationships and content from fellow spiritual journey junkies like yourself.

Have you ever sat down an examined your own spiritual journey? Have you ever considered the ways in which you learn your lessons, and that maybe you could chose to learn them more quickly or with greater ease? You know, the ‘school of hard knocks’ doesn’t have to be the ONLY source of growth in your life, yet, for so many people this seems to be exactly the case. It is so easy to just sit back, relax, and let life happen to you… especially when it comes to spiritual growth. Sure, you may intentionally learn new skills, pick up a new hobby, or even pursue professional success on purpose. But have you ever thought about how you might go about engaging that same sense of intentionality with your spiritual walk. In this episode I want to help you do just that… grow spiritually, ON PURPOSE. We cover: How to judge a message by its fruit. Giving yourSELF permission to grow. What it means to be ‘wrong’. The importance of following intuition. All things are permissible. The dangers of ‘making camp’ and settling.

Have you ever found yourself really frustrated with someone else and you’re not ever sure why? Have you ever gotten in trouble with a friend or loved one, only to find out that you crossed some invisible boundary that you never knew existed? Have you ever made an agreement with someone, only to find out that their interpretation of that agreement doesn’t match up with yours? Assuming you can identify with at least one of these scenarios, I feel confident that you will find value in this discussion. In this episode, Ron and Kaylee and I discuss the following: Expectations VS Agreements The general toxicity of expectations and where they come from The power of agreements and the value of doing your best How to make changes to your agreements as you go along How to find unspoken expectation and what to do with them once you’ve found them The 5 Agreements of the Toltec wisdom tradition

Finally, 36 weeks into the New Age Christian podcast, I am very excited to introduce you to my spiritual father, Jamie Englehart. While he will certainly be a regular guest over the coming years, I think it’s pretty cool that the NAC podcast has the privilege of being one of the first forums to feature Jamie’s new book Myths and Mistranslations: Unpacking 70 Misconceptions About God and the Bible. In this episode, I ask him what some of his favorite myths/mistranslations are from his book, and what ones he thinks are the most important for the world to hear today. If you or someone you know has any interest in understanding the Bible a little better, but you don’t have time or know-how to tackle such a big book… THIS BOOK IS PERFECT FOR YOU! Split into 70 ideas (chapters), you can easily read just one a day, and after 70 days I can almost guarantee you that you’ll be a different person. Not because the knowledge in this book is a new message, but because it is the TRUTH of the message you’ve supposedly been told, and the TRUTH shall set you free! BOOK DESCRIPTION Is Lucifer really the devil? Is God in control of everything that happens on the Earth? Will the righteous all leave planet Earth one day, and will it be destroyed? Does faith come from reading the bible? Will God say to some Christians in the future, “away from me I never knew you”? Are women really not allowed to lead or say anything in the church? If you have ever asked any of these questions on your journey of faith then this is a book that will unveil 70 of these kinds of questions to help you on your path to maturity.

In this episode, I’m excited to introduce you to my good friend and fellow spiritual traveler, Grant Porteous. Over the past 7 years, Grant has arguably been the most skilled craftsman of the soul that I have had the pleasure of walking with. Sure, I have known many unique and powerful individuals in my life, all of whom have left their own signature on my life (some more than others), but Grant has a unique ability to dig past all of my philosophical bull shit and get to the heart of a matter with one series of questions in a way that no one else can… and he’s done this over and over again in my life. Like all of us, Grant has journeyed in his life. But unlike most of us, he is STILL journeying in his sixties and has no plans on stopping. In this discussion I wanted the NAC family to meet Grant, here a bit of his story, gather some nuggets, and get to know yet another journey that likely resonates with your own. I always love having a good chat with Grant because I always walk away with something new to think about or something that was a bit fuzzy becoming more clear. Enjoy!

Thanks to books/movies like The Secret, the Universal Law of Attraction is something that most people have heard of. By and large, I've found that a majority of those people haven't actually studied the Universal Laws, and often conclude that the Law of Attraction is just a bunch of fluff and stuff that doesn't work. Unfortunately for them, for something to be a Universal Law in the first place, it kinda has to be something that works whether you 'believe in it' or not. The Law of Attraction works! That's the good news. The Law of Attraction WORKS! That's the bad news. After 4 years of working with the Law of Attraction and studying the principles that underpin it, I have seen some of the inner-workings of this 'secret' that no one really tells you in the beginning. There are certainly good things about it. But there are also realities to using it that many people find out the hard way. And there are some ugly truths about how it's often presented that has turned many Law of Attraction junkies into judgemental jerks that live in a constant state of lack. In this episode we cover: The Good parts of the Law of Attraction How the Law of Attraction works and why it is true The Bad parts of the Law of Attraction How your life is a perfect reflection of your beliefs The difference between Enlightenment and the Law of Attraction

Have you ever struggled with the idea of ‘hearing from God’? Has it ever just pissed you off to hear people talk so flippantly about what ‘God told them’ as if they just got off the phone with Him a few minutes ago? Have you ever wished you could have regular communication with Spirit, but not sure how it works? In this episode, I share some of my favorite spiritual communication tools that I use every single day, without fail. While there are dozens of ways by which the spiritual realm communicates to us, I have developed a few specific tools that work really well for me. This episode covers: Muscle Testing: What is it? How does it work? What is it good for? The difference between signs and omens What tools you need to use signs and omens as a regular communication source Digital Clock Synchronicities and how to program your own day to day, hour by hour spiritual language

Have you ever tried to reconcile the differences between the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament? You know, the God who tells Joshua to kill every man woman and child in multiple instances, and the God who says to forgive your enemies. Have you ever asked yourself, what the heck? How can God be “the same yesterday, today, and forever”, and seem so schizophrenic? Perhaps the perceived changes we see in God have less to do with who He is and more to do with who we THINK He is. Perhaps there is a different way to look at the ever-changing picture of God that Humanity sees. Maybe the changes aren’t on His end. In this episode we discuss: The 3 different types of Biblical covenants: Vassal, Kinship, and Grant Covenants The 7 different covenants in the bible What these covenants meant on a larger scale in the story of humanity How this progression of covenants correlates to your personal life

Although there are other resources on this site that talk about this subject in greater detail, I wanted to do a podcast episode on the true meaning of Israel for the sake of many New Age Christians who aren’t really aware of this major topic inside of the Christian world. The Christian Church spends millions and millions of dollars every year in efforts to support Israel as the ‘chosen people of God’, and for the life of me, I have no idea why. Let me first say… I love Israel. Why? Because they exist. Loving conscious beings isn’t that difficult actually. Still, I don’t love them any more or less than I love China. I don’t love Jews any more or less than I love Muslims. I love Israel and Jews because they are human, not because they are ‘chosen’. Do I believe that Abraham and the nation of Israel WERE chosen? Yes. Do I believe that modern-day Israel is STILL chosen? Sure. And so is China, and Iran, and Australia, and every other nation. Christ died for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD, not just yours and mine only (1 John 2:2). We’re ALL chosen now. Which leads to another question… Why WAS Israel chosen? For what? For how long? When? How? … and so on. In this episode we cover: What Abraham was originally promised What historical Israel was really chosen for The modern views of Israel according to some Christian perspectives What people are still waiting for Israel to accomplish What Israel already accomplished The Kingdom showed up with its King, 2000 years ago

So… if you listened to Part 1 of this episode, you know that I ended up outlining two different classifications of ‘sin’ last week: Your sin NATURE (internal) Your sinful ACTIONS (external) Last week’s episode was largely a discussion about your internal sin nature. This week we’re going to take a much deeper look at what it means to be sinless in your external actions. Namely, if there is no longer a list of rules that we all must follow, how on earth do you define what is and isn’t sinful? Do Christians get to define what sin is for the whole world? Do Muslims get to define it? What about politicians … after all, they’re the ones that make the rules aren’t they? Or maybe… Perhaps there is a more intimate, decentralized source of ‘rules’. Instead of a list of rules written down by other humans, maybe we ALL have equal access to a system of guidance that goes with us wherever we go; through every scenario, every moment, every shift, and nuance of life and morality. Maybe, instead of an external list of laws, we have an internal list of principles. In this episode we discuss: An overview of Part 1 The Holy Spirit is to the New Covenant what the Law was to the Old Covenant The definition of sin What is the Holy Spirit exactly? (Holy Spirit 101 – Episode 15) Practical advice for HOW to live this way in a world with other humans who are also trying to live this way.

It’s been a long time since I’ve even worried about the idea of sanctification and the definition of sin, but many of us in the New Age Christian community are surrounded by friends and family who can’t seem to get past this simple question. Thanks to guys like John Calvin, the power of the cross and the simplicity of its message have been buried under miles of fear and judgment. What started out as news that was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE (that’s what the word ‘gospel’ means) has turned into news that the world doesn’t even want to hear. And when your gospel doesn’t present a message that is easy and light, you might want to double-check your righteous religious privilege. In Part one of this discussion we cover: Can God and sin be in the same place? What is the definition of ‘sin’? When exactly is Jesus coming for his spotless bride again? The difference between internal perfection and external perfection. The different types of sin.

What an amazing thing LIFE is! In one day on my Facebook feed, I got to see the mourning of the passing of my spiritual brother Christopher Teasdale, the celebration of the marriage of another brother Arun Bulchandani, and the commemoration of the birthday of my wife Joanie Fletcher. I have made new friends in these past few days. Reconnected with old friends in the moments that really matter. Laughed, cried, and laughed some more. There are no words… but the feeling is true… GRATITUDE for LIFE… in ALL its forms. In this episode of the NAC Podcast, I do my best to explain what I believe the meaning of human existence to be. As the experiential member of the Godhead, humanity’s job is literally to LIVE… at least that’s how I see it these days. In this episode we cover: The role of humanity in the Godhead The skill and purpose of living in the NOW Understanding the interplay between spirit and matter The roles for your spirit and soul, mind and emotions How to be present in the moment and not be addicted to your thoughts

In most spiritual communities, discussions about ‘normal life’ tend to be seen as fluff and self-help type subjects, but no matter how spiritual you become, learning how to ‘adult’ is not really up for debate. You’ve probably heard the saying about super spiritual individuals who are “so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good”. Yeah… no… the NAC community is NOT that. In this episode, Ron Hale is back in the studio to help lead a discussion about goal setting and some of the tricks that he has picked up in his journey to help him become increasingly successful in ‘normal life’. In this episode you will learn: Why you may want to become the type of person who sets goals on a regular basis How to set goals and avoid some of the more common ‘traps’ of goal-setting How to achieve your goals once you’ve set them Why goal setting is arguably the best tool you have to start living your life ON PURPOSE

The idea of ‘Salvation’ has one major underlying assumption in the minds of most religions; we are the ‘problem’. – Why We Need to be ‘Saved’We are the problem and the natural consequences of being the problem are that we need to be punished or at least pay a price of some sort. If we don’t want to be punished or we can’t afford to pay the price, we must be ‘saved’. In order for this core idea to exist, we need to have a few supporting ideas: Judgment – God is unhappy with us, and is judging us accordingly. Accounting – Everything you do is tracked, and all of your bad deeds are recorded for all eternity. Rules – If you are tracked and judged, you must have a list of laws by which your actions are measured. Interestingly enough… Jesus came to GET RID of this entire idea. THIS idea… THIS is what you need ACTUAL ‘salvation’ from! In this episode we discuss: What salvation REALLY is. The lie of substitutionary atonement (God killed Jesus instead of you). The idea of Hell and how to get out of it. What Romans 10:9 means. Ultimate Universalism

For better or worse, I am a spiritual seeker who doesn’t stop. I find truth, I share it with my friends, family, and now my New Age Christian community, and then I keep going. Often, this journey creates a sense of insecurity in those who ‘follow’ my teachings because no idea feels ‘safe’. But the truth is, there are two different types of ideas: principles and conclusions. Principles are ‘safe’. Conclusions are subjective. I’m currently experiencing what I perceive to be my ‘most important’ series of spiritual lessons for living, and while I’m keenly aware that many of the ideas I’m thinking in this journey are subject to change, there are 3 principles I believe I have learned that will never change as I move forward. All communication is filtered and distorted by our knowledge. These filters and distortions are NOT the ‘truth’ of a matter. They are simply our personal attempt to convey the truth we are feeling. Happiness only comes when your external circumstances confirm your internal agreements. Thus, any pursuit of happiness must bring change to either the external circumstances or the internal agreements. The Kingdom of Heaven within you is happiness that stems from a system of internal agreements that removes external caveats from being required. All of humanity is looking for this system of agreements. All of humanity knows this is where heaven truly resides. These ideas have largely come from my exploration of a series of books authored by don Miguel Ruiz and his two sons Jose and Miguel Jr. This series of books convey ideas from their family’s Toltec Native American heritage. The original book that started me down this path was their most famous book, The 4 Agreements, but I highly recommend ANY of there books for those who want to consider what their internal world might look like if they were truly living ‘in heaven’.

In this episode of the New Age Christian podcast, Ron Hale shares a bit of his story and insights into what being a New Age Christian looks like to him. In my opinion, Ron has ‘cracked the code’ when it comes to understanding and answering the ‘millennial question’ that the world is asking right now. No longer motivated by greed or a need to be better than everyone else, millennials have presented the current system with a unique set of challenges, and I think Ron has discovered some of the answers.

When it comes to personal development and spiritual growth, I have found that there are many different ‘tools’ one needs to pick up along the way if they want to make any sort of progress with speed. I recently wrote an article for The Epoch about how awareness and intentionality are chief among these tools, but there is something that comes even earlier in the process of change that can stop you from making any movement in your life in any particular direction. Intentionality and awareness are only useful in the process of change if you marry them with a moment of decision. You can be aware of all sort of things in your life that feel like they may need to be addressed, but if you never make a decision, you will never activate intention. Instead, you become someone who ‘knows’ that you have a bunch of ‘problems’ but never ACTUALLY does something to address them. Does this sound familiar? In this podcast episode, we have another interview with Christopher Teasdale and we discuss how to build a bridge between your awareness and your intent. As you might guess from the title of this episode, permission is that bridge, and it comes in 2 major forms. Permission from other people and/or systems Permission from yourself In this episode we discuss: Permission in the form of cultural norms How domestication from your family can stop your growth How you can become your own worst opposition to change The role of fear and beliefs in gaining permission The skills of ‘How to be FREE’

Why is it do you think that people are so prone in religious discussions to try to define ‘who’s in and who’s out’? When did being ‘right’ become the symbol of someone’s Christlike nature? The simple fact is that there are a basic set of assumptions that most people believe to be true, and it is from those assumptions the humans feel the need to frame their ‘right-ness’ (notice I didn’t say ‘righteousness’) by defining why everyone else is ‘wrong’. Theses assumptions go something like this: God is unsatisfied with humanity… therefore Humans must DO something to please God and ‘fix’ it… therefore Because there is a ‘fix’ needed, not everyone is going to find that ‘fix’… therefore Some of us will find it, and some won’t… therefore Some of us are ‘in’, and some of us are ‘out’… therefore We need to figure out what to do to be ‘in’, to get it ‘right’… therefore We must frame our ‘right-ness’ with everyone else’s ‘wrong-ness’… therefore Being ‘wrong’ means God is unsatisfied with you… therefore Go back to #1 This never-ending cycle of assumptions happens so fast in our minds, and yet, it is nothing more than an endless cycle stemming from our knowledge of what is ‘good’ and what is ‘evil’. Quantifying what beliefs and behaviors make one right with God is the original challenge of the garden, and modern religions are still playing the same game. How do we break this cycle? Glad you asked… In this episode we discuss: How to break the endless cycle of the knowledge of good and evil How to bring heaven to earth… TODAY What Jesus meant when he laid out the roadmap to heaven in John 3 What exactly the earth is waiting for from YOU, and how to bring it

With a name like ‘New Age Christianity’, you knew it was just a matter of time before one of these podcast episodes was going to dive into a decidedly ‘new age’ topic. So, without further ado, here it is! As promised in Episode 18, Kat Reece is back in the studio with us again to talk about Crystals and Stones (not rocks) and why they are such a big deal in the New Age community. What are they used for? Are they scary and evil witchcraft? Why are Christians so afraid of them? Is there any biblical evidence of their value? Kat also shares with us her personal journey into developing an appreciation and understanding of stones and their usefulness in our lives. I, personally, found this discussion to be very enlightening and a lot of fun, and I believe you will as well.

Other than my wife Joanie, Christopher Teasdale has been my most consistent companion throughout my spiritual journey over the past 14 years. As an experienced missionary, prophet, and international man of mystery, Chris brings a unique perspective to just about any conversation. Chris has been a major part of this New Age Christian journey, and I am looking forward to you meeting him.

Have you ever stopped to consider the value that darkness plays in the universe? Better yet, have you ever considered the value that darkness is playing in your life? In this episode, we again have Kayleen Hale in the studio and she and I have an amazing conversation about just what a gift ‘darkness’ can be in your life. If you have the mindset to actually SEE it while it’s happening, darkness can not only become an amazing teacher but can also become something you get ‘excited’ about when it shows up. If you don’t have the mindset to see darkness as a ‘good thing’ in the midst of it, the next best thing is to give yourself the gift of freedom by re-framing your past and assigning ‘value’ to all of those moments where darkness still looms. In this episode we cover: Finding the value of darkness IN the moment of darkness Re-framing the past to find the value of your worst experiences The reality of the ‘spring-back’ that often accompanies growth The fact that darkness is required in order for us to comprehend the light (Yin and Yang) Becoming the type of person who is unafraid of darkness

Kat is one of the original “New Age Christian” crew members as far back as 2015. Of all those who identify as a New Age Christian, Kat is easily the most comfortable one I know when it comes to exploring ‘new age’ ideas and concepts without any fear or judgment. With a unique sense of humor and some seriously valuable insights into what it means to be a human on this planet, we’re hoping Kat can become a consistent voice in the New Age Christian discussion.

What does the Bible mean when it says that “perfect love cast out fear”? Beyond just the Bible… almost every sacred tradition in the world teaches that fear is the antithesis of love, but for most people, that concept just doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense. The opposite of love should be hate, right? And the opposite of fear should be courage… ? The truth of the matter is that fear is most definitely the antithesis of love, but the words themselves fall entirely too short of their energetic realities. In this episode we discuss: The reason why fear goes against the very essence of life. The potential of living a completely fearless existence, and why you might want to. How fear and love are directly tied to our identity. How all things work together for the good of those who are one with God. How the 4 Agreements can help you become fearless

Have you ever wondered why the Holy Spirit wasn’t given to humanity until AFTER the cross? I mean, it kinda seems like a big deal to have the Holy Spirit, so why wait thousands of years before letting humanity experience him… her… it… whatever… ? As you may have guessed already, I believe the Holy Spirit is largely misunderstood in the world, and in this episode, I take a crack at setting the record straight. In this episode we discuss: Who/what the Holy Spirit really is Holy Spirit’s relationship to Satan and Christ Why the Holy Spirit couldn’t be given to man until after the cross Practical ideas regarding your personal relationship with the Holy Spirit and why it’s way easier than you think

About 7 years ago I started to realize just how REAL Jesus’ life actually was. He had to learn who he was. He had to make a living. He had to go to the bathroom. And according to the Bible, he was even tempted in every way, just as we are. Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe that verse about Jesus being tempted in EVERY way wasn’t just a vague reference to being human, but might actually have been a hint toward examining the specific temptations he faced in the wilderness? (this is a rhetorical question) In this episode, I share some of the insights that I’ve gained from studying and meditating on the temptations of Jesus. Here are some of the things you’ll hear: All temptation comes from within (where the devil actually lives) What 2 concepts are found at the starting point of every temptation Why is the temptation of Jesus recorded differently in Matthew and Luke When did Jesus actually ask his disciples to follow him full time What where Jesus’ temptations actually about

This is the first ‘Question and Answer’ episode for the NAC Podcast. Every few weeks or so, we want to engage with the NAC audience in this format in order to continue building a complete identity around the concepts of NAC and its community. In this episode I address 3 specific questions that I have been asked about previous episodes: If all we are supposed to do in our quest for a ‘perfect world’ is focus on the good, how does that actually address all of the bad that’s currently going on? In other words… How do we start to fix things NOW? What are we supposed to do with all of the other religions and the idea that Jesus is ‘non-negotiable’? What are some of the details about the continued growth of NAC and its vision?

The 2 Creations and Becoming Like God – NAC:12
Where to begin? Hmmm… I know… Let’s start at the beginning! In this episode, we cover 2 major topics buried within one story. Namely,  the story of creation and the genesis of mankind in Genesis 1, 2, and 3. Have you ever noticed the 2 different creation accounts in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2? Have you ever wondered why the hell God gave Adam a commandment in the first place? Have you ever considered that there are two kinds of light? This episode answers all of these questions and more… or at least attempts to answer them. Enjoy!

The Key Principles of a Perfect World – NAC:11
What does a perfect world look like to you? Chances are, your answer is centered around a definition of things that no longer exist.  No more war. No more crime. No disease. No death. No pain. While these would certainly be major markers of a perfect world, have you ever stopped to consider what WOULD have to be in place in order for these things to happen? Is it about having just the right governmental system?  Just the right amount of enforcement? Just the right laws? Just the right amount of control over everything we don’t like and just the right amount of freedom to pursue things we do like? In the current political climate, I believe the world is in desperate need of a new way to see the world, and in this episode, I do my best to lay out some of the major PRINCIPLES of a ‘perfect world’ and insert them into our current context of broken discourse and collective thought. Summary In this episode we discuss: Libertarianism and the principles of self-government Collectivism and the human need to group others into easily defined segments Control: The ultimate goal for all governmental action Decentralization as the coming political system The principle of no-harm The definition of a perfect world and it’s relationship to the Kingdom of Heaven

A few years ago I embarked on a journey of discovery about who/what Satan really was. I say it was a journey of ‘discovery’ because where I ended up truly was a perspective I NEVER thought I’d have about this so poorly miss-understood concept. Simply put… One of my favorite movie quotes comes from a movie called “The Usual Suspects”. “The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” – Roger “Verbal” Kint (played by Kevin Spacey) While this is a really cool moment in the movie and is conceptually quite deep… the TRUTH is… The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he DID exist. SUMMARY What are the basic lies about who or what the devil is? What are the basic truths about who or what the devil is? Where do we get our doctrines about the devil? The devil may not be as basic of a concept as you think.

While I’ve never been a huge participant in the New Year’s Resolution tradition, 2018 has actually proven to be a pretty good lesson for me in the value of intentional life change. In January (of 2018) I decided I wanted to establish multiple streams of income and become a full-time entrepreneur. 12 months later, I have 4 companies up and running, 2 on the way for 2019, and a limitless selection of opportunities in front of me for the rest of my life. My income is certainly coming from multiple streams, and I get to wake up every day as my own boss. Changes like this don’t happen overnight, and they most certainly don’t happen on accident. In this episode, I share 5 specific concepts that I’ve used to change my life on a consistent, long-term basis. And while my income is still catching up to what my intentions were, my joy and my sense of fulfillment has never been higher. SUMMARY In this episode you will learn: What is the common denominator for every living creature and their interaction with ‘change’? 5 Insights for assisting change in your own life

In light of the upcoming Christmas holiday of 2018, I thought I’d share some of my favorite insights from my personal journey to find the truth about Christmas and its place in our modern Christian belief system. A few years ago I was on a quest to figure out why Christian traditions existed, and how so many religious assumptions found their way into our daily lives. Things like music-led worship on Sunday morning, tithing, altar calls, communion, and holidays… especially holidays. Why do we do these things? Do we HAVE to do these things? What happens if we do them wrong? Heck, for that matter, what happens if we do them right? It was during this season that I found out the Christmas day (December 25th) was originally a Pagan holiday, and that many of the traditions we embrace today in our Christian heritage were actually VERY Pagan in origin. The question then became… Should I still celebrate Christmas now that I know the truth behind the traditions? The answer to that question is something I’ll leave up to you to decide. But as for me and my family, the things I learned during that time have proven to be a source of deeper meaning and significance for Christmas. I hope these little tidbits can do the same for you. SUMMARY In this episode you will learn: What the star of Bethlehem REALLY was. Why the traditional nativity scene is historically inaccurate. Why we celebrate Jesus’ birth on Dec. 25th. How the wise men knew who Jesus was.

Church. Love it or hate it, almost every human alive has engaged with it to a meaningful extent. It is truly one of the most influential organizational structures in both the ancient and modern worlds, and I don’t believe that’s going to change any time soon. While the measure of influence that church exudes on our daily lives may not diminish, I believe it’s high time for that influence to undergo a major overhaul once again. SUMMARY In this episode you will learn: There are really two major kinds of ‘church’ as presented in the Bible. What the mission of the Church REALLY is on the earth. Just how simple it is to ‘go to church’. What I personally think ‘the church’ is supposed to look like in the coming age. What is the church at it’s core.

As a continuation of our opening ‘series’ about the foundational perspectives of New Age Christianity, the subject of today’s podcast is unavoidable. If any group chooses to have the word ‘Christianity’ in their name, it is automatically assumed that they have based their beliefs off a universally agreed-upon system of conclusions, not the least of which is the belief that the Bible is the most important source of truth we have available today. While this conclusion may not be overtly stated in the New Age Christian community on a regular basis, it is hard to overstate just how pervasive the ideas found in the Bible have been in the world as a whole, much less in the lives of those who would ascribe to being any sort of ‘Christian’. Even though the Bible has been a beautiful source of truth and change in the world, it has also been a horrific source of lies and pain in the lives of billions. Whether people know it or not, the Bible has likely been used as an excuse to create more division, death, dishonor, and daemons than any other mechanism in history. As such, we refuse to just let assumptions about this amazing book go unstated in this New Age Christian journey we’re embarking on together. SUMMARY In this episode we discuss: Is the Bible inerrant (perfect)? How should we view the internal disagreements that seem so evident in the bible? What does ‘inspired’ really mean? The difference between a historical view of the Bible versus a spiritual view. The #1 tool for finding spiritual ‘buried treasure’ in the pages of the Bible.

Money and religion go together like peanut butter and jelly. This is a problem… or at least it’s been a problem for most of the world’s experience of God. In this episode, I attempt to revisit some of the old ideas we’ve all be taught about giving to the church. Is tithing really 10%? Is tithing still required by God? Does God give you parking tickets to make sure you pay your fair share to his coffers? Why ‘should’ I give anything to the church anyway? SUMMARY In this episode you’ll learn: – What the Old Testament tithe REALLY was – How tithing and circumcision are related – What old testament principles we can extract from old testament laws – How giving is really all about working WITH the Law of Reciprocity

One of the most popular questions I get asked about what it means to be a New Age Christian is, “What do you do with Jesus?” In my experience, this question is asked by Christians and non-Christians alike and is largely the central roadblock in their minds when it comes to reconciling Christianity with ANY other form of spirituality. Where does Jesus fit into the equation? Was he a real person? Did he really need to die for our sins? Is he really the ONLY way to heaven? Etc. In this episode, my hope is that you will be given a perspective about Jesus that reconciles EVERYTHING you’ve ever heard about Him with EVERYTHING you’ve sensed was true ‘outside’ of Him. For we all know that truth can be bigger than one single story. And we all know that God loves those who have never even heard about Jesus. The question is… how important is He to YOUR story? SUMMARY In this episode we attempt to answer 3 big questions: Was Jesus a real person? Is He really the ONLY way to heaven? Why did He have to die?

Honoring others really isn't all that difficult, yet, for some reason, it seems to be a skill that is almost impossible to find in today's culture. Worse yet, it is often more difficult to find it in the 'church' than it is in the secular world. My goal with this podcast episode is to continue laying a foundation for what New Age Christianity aims to build as a community of believers. Namely, the type of culture we aim to build... a culture of honor. Podcast Summary Every group has a culture. You can either let that culture build itself over time, or you can intentionally build the culture you want from the beginning. 3 Keys to Not Being an Ass - If you get offended, realize that it is YOUR fault. - Discussions and/or arguments are not about finding 'agreement'; instead, they are about gaining 'understanding'. - Knowing who YOU are, makes you unafraid of other's ideas.

Our first ‘real’ episode! Yay! This episode is the first of a short series of concepts that New Age Christianity holds as foundational lenses through which we view EVERYTHING in the world. Namely, we don’t believe we are here just to pass some test and go to heaven or hell. Humanity is here for a very powerful purpose, and if our view of the future has ‘getting out of dodge’ as it’s central conclusion, why on earth would we even focus and what we have right in front of us? In this episode, we attempt to answer this question and explain a bit about the overarching ideas that give us our answer(s). Idea 1: Preterism – 99% of biblical prophecy about ‘the end’ happened in 70 A.D. when Rome COMPLETELY destroyed the Jewish system, and thus, the old covenant along with it. Idea 2: Revelation Revisited – The book of Revelation is not only true when applied to Preterism, but also is a prophetic book about all of us, at any time in our journey where Christ is being REVEALED in us. Idea 3: Hope for the Future – If we don’t have a reason to stay here, we won’t have a reason to bring the Kingdom to Earth. This has been the problem with the Church for a very long time, and New Age Christianity hopes to change this (at least in the lives of those who join us).

In this first episode, I go over a basic overview of the premise behind New Age Christianity (NAC) and what to expect from this podcast and the NAC community. So here we are… finally going public with this crazy idea called “New Age Christianity”. In full disclosure, this is the first podcast I’ve ever done and I’ve already learned a ton about what improvements I want to make in later episodes, but hey, you have to start somewhere right? Nothing is set in stone and things will continue to change as they need to, but this podcast is intended to be a cornerstone resource for the growth of the NAC community and its ideas.
