Staying Centred: Rooted at the centre of the cyclone

Staying Centred: Rooted at the centre of the cyclone

Welcome back to the Soul Surgery podcast. This week is a solo episode where I talk about ways in which we can stay centred.

Here in New Zealand we have been in lockdown for the past 10 weeks and increasingly we are being subjected to a lot of intense measures of control. The purpose of this episode is not to be political or to take sides, rather it is to share how this has impacted me and the process I have been through in order to be responsible for everything this has brought up.

I share about how, when we find ourselves in the centre of a storm, we cannot only find our centre, but stay centred. How we can stay connected and rooted in our truth despite all the noise and chaos raging around us. This is a fundamental practice for your life, but especially now as we navigate a huge paradigm shift.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

· When we stay in our power, we have the ability to make conscious choices rather than choosing from a place of fear and terror.

· Listening is not hearing the noise in your mind or projecting what you think you already know. To listen deeply to life, we cannot already know what is coming next.

· We cannot respond differently in challenging situations if we are not conscious that something from our past is being activated.

· Consciousness requires you to lean into the experience as it moves through you and taking full self-responsibility for it.

· If you can surrender the resistance, the fight and the running away from your human experience even though it is painful, it will begin to dissolve.

· Every single one of us has the power to find the stillness within the storm of our experience.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

SURRENDER will walk you through a life changing process of maturation. Of breaking free of the vicious cycle of repeated stuck patterns, stories and belief systems, trauma and ancestral wounds.

It’s more than just a book. It’s a guide through a deep healing journey of SURRENDERING of who you are NOT so that you can unfurl into who you were BORN TO BE.

Surrendering to the deep feminine and letting go of the old with Koya Webb

Surrendering to the deep feminine and letting go of the old with Koya Webb

Welcome back to the Soul Surgery podcast.

We return with another episode of our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the wonderful Koya Webb. Koya is an internationally recognised yoga teacher, celebrity holistic health coach, author, speaker and vegan activist. Her core mission is to promote daily self-care, oneness and eco-friendly living. She is a force for love and healing.

In this episode we talk about surrendering into the feminine – coming out of the place of knowing and into a place of listening. This is a powerful discussion for all beings, showing how we can come to a place of feeling, softness and nurturing.

Koya shares how in the process of writing her book to share what she had learned with her readers, she was gifted with the opportunity to really learn the lessons she needed to in order to heal at the deepest level. It was an invitation for her to surrender even further into the feminine and find her true power.

Episode Highlights:

· We are being invited to step out of our knowing and our survival into a space of feeling and vulnerability.

· We are the solution and the key to our own healing.

· We are all in a constant cycle of shedding the old so we can birth the new, we can’t hold onto the way things were as they are in a constant state of change.

· We hold onto the past because it is painful to transition into someone new, but when we acknowledge and can go through that pain and fear we open ourselves to love, growth and expansion.

· Being willing to be vulnerable and open up about our fears and struggles we invite others to do the same. This is where we can connect and create space for collective healing.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Learning to receive what I said I wanted with Emma Mumford

Learning to receive what I said I wanted with Emma Mumford

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the wonderful Emma Mumford. Emma is an award-winning life coach and mentor, bestselling author, speaker and the UK’s leading Law of Attraction expert.

In this episode Emma shares how at her lowest point, when she was suffering from depression, in debt and coming out of a bad relationship, she had a spiritual awakening where she realised she needed to surrender the control she felt was necessary in all aspects of her life. This pivotal moment led her to realise the patterns that had been living her life and keeping her stuck. It was also the point where she discovered the power of manifestation.

We discuss how much as human beings we can push away the very things we want the most if they don’t fit in with the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we are capable of in our lives. But when we can begin to relinquish the control we seek to have over our lives we can begin to heal what we have been resisting all along.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

· We all experience repeating patterns throughout our lives and often we identify with them to the extent that we believe this is who we really are.

· The work to overcome these patterns involves seeing where in our past we have made decisions that helped us to survive difficult, painful or confusing experiences. These decisions create the story of what is possible and available to us.

· Sometimes getting the things we want feels like the hardest thing for us to accept because it doesn’t fit into these stories.

· To truly live an aligned and authentic life we need to see beyond these stories and learn to trust.

· The key is in allowing ourselves to feel everything we have been resisting.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Surrendering the masks and healing codependency with Emmy Brunner

Surrendering the masks and healing codependency with Emmy Brunner

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the wonderful Emmy Brunner. Emmy is a Personal Empowerment and Transformation Coach, Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist, CEO of The Recover Clinic, Author and Speaker. Her work focuses on dynamic and ambitious women and inspiring them to reconnect to their true selves.

In this episode Emmy talks about growing up in a family dynamic that meant she found her role as a healer or fixer. In line with this she trained as a psychotherapist, but her experience was that her clinical training didn’t really give her the tools to create real shifts for her clients. It was only when she continued to do the work on herself and saw how much of a role people’s reactions to trauma and the stories they subsequently created were fuelling their struggles that true healing became possible.

Emmy reached the point where she was tired of fighting to survive and realised that she needed to let go and surrender. When we resist what is and try to avoid the pain of our realities, we actually cement them even further. By surrendering we create the opportunity for a new possibility to unfurl.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

· Although as humans we can be very different, beneath the surface we all have the same struggles, the same feelings and the same needs. We’ve all just been trying to survive.

· We all have 3 versions of ourselves: the one we want to project to the world, the one we don’t want anyone to see and the one we truly are beyond all of the stories.

· When we realise how much we share with others it can heal our feelings of loneliness and isolation.

· In the moment we say no more to something in our lives that has not been serving us, we simultaneously are saying yes to something else. These are pivotal moments when we step outside of our survival patterns.

· As we become more conscious we are able to listen beyond the noise of our minds and tune into a deeper knowing. When you can trust and be with yourself you can birth a completely new way of being.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Letting go of pictures and surrendering to peace with Poppy Jamie

Letting go of pictures and surrendering to peace with Poppy Jamie

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the lovely Poppy Jamie. Poppy is one of Forbes’ 30 under 30, UN Global Goals advocate, British wellness entrepreneur, TV host and author of the book ‘Happy Not Perfect: Upgrade Your Mind, Change Your Thoughts and Free Yourself From Anxiety’. She is the founder of the award winning Happy Not Perfect mindset app and host of the Not Perfect podcast.

Poppy’s mission is to empower people to look after their minds and health.

In this episode Poppy talks about how her inability to surrender and the longing to hold on and control so many aspects of her life caused her to have a physical and mental breakdown. Poppy shares with us how she thought that to surrender meant to give up but realised it is in fact the opposite.

In this conversation Poppy tells her story of becoming addicted to working and the drive behind the need to work. Poppy thought that working was the solution to her problems and that by working hard she would get what she wanted. It was only once she was able to surrender and let go of the ideals in her mind that she entered a state of bliss.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights

· We are programmed from an early age to believe the more we achieve and push ourselves and the more control we have, will result in us ‘doing better’ or ‘getting more’ but ultimately, it just creates more suffering in our lives.

· We can never have enough of what we never really wanted. The things we strive for, like working hard, will never give us what we really want which is why it will never be enough.

· We get born into a world that doesn’t educate us in self-trust and self-acceptance, instead we are taught that we need to keep on bettering ourselves.

· When we are holding on so tightly to the pictures of what it is we think we want, it can block us from seeing other possibilities.

· We have to experience some pain to realise that what we’ve been doing isn’t going to give us what we want.

· What’s meant for you will never pass you by.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

How death transformed my relationship to life & immense possibility with Nathaniel Solace

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by Nathaniel Solace. Nathaniel is a leadership coach and transformation coach and he is just a really wise and smart, powerful being. Nathaniel’s mission is ‘to bring simple, tangible and empowering methods to the masses for engaging with the most fundamental and fulfilling aspects of life so that every human can naturally live their greatest purpose’.

In this episode Nathaniel talks about how he surrendered to the cards he had been dealt and his commitment and dedication to his own maturation. Nathaniel shares his story of being adopted and the death of his mother and how the trauma he went through has made him the coach he is today.

In this conversation Nathaniel shares with me how he came to realise that the only thing he was afraid of was how uncomfortable he was in his body and that all healing is on the other side of being uncomfortable, which requires surrender.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights

· Everything we live through can be an opportunity for us to be able to use it purposefully.

· We are all in a process of growing, we are either stuck or we’re growing. It is human nature that we will find a way to grow.

· In every single present moment we really don’t know what will be unfolding next. The thing that blocks us from the magic of that is the mind and the stories.

· If you don’t have a relationship with death it impacts your relationship with life.

· Childhood experiences shape the creation and birthing of the characters that become who we are.

· To just be with ‘what is’ is the doorway to surrender.

· Real freedom is to be human and to be able to be with our story but not have it live us.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Forgetting who I think I am & birthing who I was born to be with Richie Bostock

Forgetting who I think I am & birthing who I was born to be with Richie Bostock

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the incredible Richie Bostock. Richie is a breathwork coach, author and speaker. He was introduced to breathwork when his father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and after seeing the incredible effects it had he was hooked. It is now his mission to spread the lifechanging possibilities of breathwork to the world.

In this episode Richie shares how a corporate career that gave him all the things he thought would make him happy actually left him feeling empty and lacking in purpose. He realised that he had been living his life based on an unconscious pressure for him to have a certain identity that would make those around him feel comfortable and in control.

When Richie began to ask himself the big questions of who am I and why am I here? He found that the biggest discoveries came when he allowed himself to let go of knowing and questioning. Instead, he allowed himself to be surprised by what came up and to trust.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

  • By not letting our fears and doubts take us over, we create space for something else to emerge. Something we may not have even realised was possible.
  • When we can surrender who we think we are or who we think we should be we open up the opportunity to find out who we really are away from our conditioning and stories.
  • Letting go of the “me” we think we are changes how life appears to us and how we can respond to everything.
  • In the shedding of who you thought you were there is a birthing of something new, all you need to do is listen.
  • When we release our attachment to how we think things should be we allow life to flow and we can truly experience the present moment.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Saying YES to Life & Surrendering to the greater plan with Kyle Gray

Saying YES to Life & Surrendering to the greater plan with Kyle Gray

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the incredible Kyle Gray. Kyle is a spiritual teacher, international speaker and bestselling author. Kyle brings a down to earth approach to his purpose as a modern spiritual guide, bringing an authentic and accessible feel to spirituality and living a high vibrational life.

In this episode Kyle shares how he had to surrender what he thought was the way his life should look and, how by doing this and releasing control he was able to fulfil his purpose via a path he had initially rejected.

In this conversation we reveal that by trying to force our lives in one direction we can block so much of our potential and limit the possibilities that are open to us. In order to really allow life to flow we need to let go of all the things we think we know and be willing to listen to something completely new.

Kyle shows that despite feeling uncomfortable with the idea of surrender and feeling how much resistance our identity can create at the thought of letting go, it is possible for all of us.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

· Surrender is an active process which requires dedication and consistency. Surrender requires you to continually show up for yourself and do the work.

· Sometimes our biggest acts of surrender can be saying yes and allow life to unfold rather than clinging on to the pictures of how we think our life should be.

· So much of our power is blocked when we focus on who we think we should be rather than embracing the truth of who we are.

· When we are able to embody all the parts of ourselves life begins to open up in the most incredible way.

· It is part of the human condition to look for answers and clarity, and often we need to open up to something completely new in order to find them.

· The answers we are all seeking cannot be found somewhere out there, we can only find them within ourselves.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Dissolving the masks of masculine programming with Ben Bidwell

Dissolving the masks of masculine programming with Ben Bidwell

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender Series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the wonderfully wise Ben Bidwell. Ben is a mindset and purpose coach, a writer and public speaker. His purpose in this world is to open up and strip back the conversation around mental health and release the stigma that still exists here.

Ben is on a journey to dissolve the story around what it means to be a man in this world. He shares how in service of his truth and authenticity he has had to surrender the ideas, pictures, conditioning and stories that he had absorbed around what it means to be a man.

Ben courageously faced judgements and losing friends as he learned to truly let go and trust. He came to realise that this was in fact a way to connect with people on a much deeper level.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

· When we live our lives trying not to be a certain way what we are creating is a huge amount of resistance which blocks us from being our authentic selves.

· Conditioning can become stronger and have more of an influence over how we live than what feels natural and this causes huge confusion.

· It can feel easy to stay stuck in our way of being, despite the suffering it causes, it feels familiar and safe. But we will get to a point where the discomfort of staying the same is worse than the discomfort of changing.

· To truly become free we have to let go of everything – the stories, conditioning and who we have known ourselves to be.

· Our most important relationship is the one we have with ourself.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

Surrendering all my material world to discover what was left with Prema Gaia

Surrendering all my material world to discover what was left with Prema Gaia

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.

This week I am joined by the amazing Prema Gaia who shares with us her mind-blowing and incredibly moving transformational story. Prema is a Woman’s leadership and business coach, meditation teacher, visionary writer and plant & spirit ceremonialist.

In this episode Prema shares her inspiring journey to embracing her soul’s calling. Having encountered a lot of trauma in her childhood, she turned to alcohol and recreational drugs during her teens to numb the pain she was unable to process. She later moved to Hollywood and began living what appeared to be a very glamorous life, but inside she knew it wasn’t truly nourishing her in the way she needed.

Prema’s spiritual awakening in 2006 saw her give up all her possessions and money to begin a walking journey to meet spiritual teachers and communities. It was at this point she was able to see how she was not fulfilling her soul’s purpose. It was time to release all the attachments she had to who she thought she was in her life and align with a higher plan.

Prema beautifully highlights how it is possible to transcend our fear and fully surrender who you thought you needed to be and embrace your true authenticity.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

  • We can never have enough of what we never really wanted - when we feel unworthy we often feel the need to constantly seek external validation, but it will never fill the hole inside us.
  • When we are always trying to prove something to ourselves or others, we are not living our true, authentic lives.
  • When we release our masks people can finally see us for who we really are and we can create powerful connections.
  • Liberation comes when we can let go of fear and learn to trust in ourselves and make peace with our mortality.
  • When we can learn to be with and show compassion to the parts of ourselves that cause us pain we can find powerful transformation.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

When my Father died and old identity died too with Jessica Huie

When my Father died and old identity died too with Jessica Huie

We have another episode of the Surrender Series, where I get to sit with the wonderful Jessica Huie.

Jessica is the author of "Purpose' and a transformational visibility teacher, encouraging people to breathe life into why they are here and helping them connect with their purpose.

In this episode, Jessica shares with us a very personal story of when her father was passing away... and the huge transformation that came out of his passing that also enabled a real death of the character that she once thought she was.

If you ever feel like you're stuck in the persona that's always striving, pushing, and relentlessly getting things done... the story of the birthing of who Jessica is today will guide you towards the path of deep authenticity and surrender.

Remember - surrender is not a weakness. In fact, it takes a lot of courage to surrender our picture of how we thought our life should be or who we thought we needed to be.

In other words - it takes courage to surrender to something even greater and deeper.

And at some point in your life, you will be invited to go through that transformational process.

So may this special episode help guide you through these challenges and point you in the right direction.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Episode Highlights:

- Surrender is not a weakness. In fact, it takes a lot of courage to surrender our picture of how we thought our life should be or who we thought we needed to be.

- Out of chaos comes order - our biggest transformation can often come from our greatest challenges.

- Giving up the persona that's always striving and pushing forward in order to unfold who you really are may be one of the most difficult tasks you will ever face but the rewards of authenticity and massive personal evolution are worth it.

- And at some point in your life, you will be invited to go through that transformational process. Because it is inevitable - it is a good idea to start peeling off the layers of who you thought you were meant to be and start connecting with your true purpose.

If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.

My Gateway into Motherhood with Zoe Blaskey

My Gateway into Motherhood with Zoe Blaskey

Join us for a new episode of the Surrender Series with the amazing Zoe Blaskey, founder of the MOTHERKIND podcast.

In this episode Zoe shares with us the huge process of surrender that she had to go through when she became pregnant with her first daughter.

We'll talk about the healing journey she went through when she was pregnant that led to her having the homebirth that she dreamed of, as well as the huge transformational process of actually learning how to be a mother.

And it wasn’t easy...

Perfectionism, obsession with routine, high expectations of self…  All these things can lead to struggle, relationship challenges, and loss of spiritual connection. Especially during challenging times such as moving to a new city or giving birth to a child.

The thing is - it's perfectly normal.

When we have babies it is the ultimate opening of love. It is the purest, most intense love that we experience.

And love is the trigger point for all the aspects that have been unhealed wounds in the past.

Suddenly all the demons of the past wake up inside of you and start screaming...

And when you're in it you can't see the wood for the trees.

But the good news is - deep healing is possible.

There's a moment when we are ready to say to ourselves: "I can't... I don't know how to do this"

And that it is the moment when healing begins. It's the beginning of the transformation.

It takes a certain amount of humility because we live in a society that perpetuates the idea that we should always have the answers.

Otherwise, our egos will try to protect the illusions of our fake identities and keep us from ascending in life.

But there are tremendous gifts at the other end if we can just put one foot in front of the other...

Because as soon as we surrender and let go - we open up the doors to living from the place of joy, authenticity, and true inner power.

So if you'd like to hear the inspirational surrender story of Zoe Blaskey, I warmly invite you to listen to our new Surrender Series podcast.

Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.

Parenting Yourself

Parenting Yourself

Welcome to the latest solo episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast where I focus on the topic of parenting ourselves.

If we want to change habits, change patterns and break cycles we will have to face the uncomfortable parts of ourselves that we have been hiding, resisting and running away from.

People who are able to navigate through these challenging phases of the transformational process are able to do it because they could hold themselves through the painful, the scary, and the unknown. They may not do it perfectly, it’s not without resistance but they are able to hold space for themselves which allowed a shift to occur.

Episode Highlights:

· You simply cannot allow the opening of a new possibility without simultaneously experiencing the ending of the old story or the old way of being.

· The ability to hold ourselves, show up for ourselves sacredly and unconditionally is founded on our relationship with our mother.

· Being our own mother is the key to healing and allowing change to occur.

· Self-parenting creates internal safety and allows us to grow out of the victim and into a mature, empowered adult.

· If we don't feel safe and trusting in our own internal home, our life becomes about surviving in safety rather than being about creating space for continuous expansion.

If you are you ready to be your own loving mother, the possibilities become limitless as you stop living in fear.

Those of you who want to dive deeper into this healing work with me can find The Homecoming Process on my website – an eight week transformational process that you can purchase to guide you on your healing journey.

We Are All Nature with Rebecca Campbell

We Are All Nature with Rebecca Campbell

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast where I sit with the inspiring Rebecca Campbell, world renowned writer, mystic, poet, mother, channel and creative.

Rebecca believes that we ARE nature and all her creations are in devotion to the beauty of nature and weaving the soul back into everyday life.

Rebecca and I have an inspiring conversation about life; how our souls have chosen to be here at this time of global upheaval and change, and the intensely beautiful, painful and almost other-worldly experience of childbirth that can be a direct comparison to life itself.

Episode Highlights

- The transcendental experience of birthing a child that can be both painful and mind-blowing at the same time, exactly like what we have been experiencing around the world in the last couple of years

- How childbirth invites the possibility of healing and transformation on a deep level

- Opening ourselves to the pure love of being a mother, also brings along the realisation that we need to simultaneously open ourselves to loss and an unimaginable depth of pain that has not been felt yet

- The moment we awaken to a new phase of our consciousness, something in us dies to make place for the new

- The birthing energy exists in life itself and one of the most courageous things we can do is to breathe through the agony and stay open to life and love

- Our souls have chosen to be here now and we all have our own purpose to be here during these difficult times that are so triggering and childhood traumas are coming up to be healed.

I’d appreciate if you’d drop us a review to share your feedback. I love hearing from you. Thank you for listening.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast. In this solo episode I speak about forgiveness – about how the healing, transformational maturation process of forgiving requires full surrender into what we are suppressing, hiding or resisting around the thing or person we need to forgive.

We need to be willing to truly face and be with all that is present and dive into the complete unknown with the intention to forgive to come to a place of wholeness, freedom and peace.

Episode highlights:

- Forgiveness is not a place to get to – it’s the intention of bringing completion to something that is incomplete.

- What we’ve left behind may not be complete in our heart, mind and soul and if we don’t heal and release the pain within us, we start feeling stuck and our survival strategies get more intense.

- Forgiveness is so important because it allows us to fully and freely express ourselves in flow with our life force.

- Underneath all the resentment, anger and unmet expectations is heartbreak, which is the root cause of blame and powerlessness.

- I offer you a 4-step process to practice forgiveness to help you heal and create a feeling of wholeness and peace in your life.

- When we truly forgive and end the cycle, we don’t have to pass this pain and resentment to the future generation; we don’t have to take it out on our partners or on our bodies.

Forgiveness takes time and one thing to keep in mind is you may not be ready to love yet, but you can offer yourself compassion and understanding.

Thank you for listening. If you have any aha moments from this episode, please do share them with me. I love to hear about your healing experiences.

Transformational Communication in Relationship

Transformational Communication in Relationship

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. Thank you for tuning in to listen to this episode where I sit with my husband Kevin to speak about communication in relationships.

We talk about all the areas which block our ability to communicate, to hear, to listen to each other and how to be able to have a certain kind of communication that creates life, love and feeds the relationship so it can thrive.

We tend to get into relationships with an expectation around communication based on our own personal childhood experiences. However, we discuss the possibility of communication with such peace, freedom and nourishment that there’s no need to hide any part of ourselves, including where we are coming from.

Episode Highlights:

· We speak about the different layers of communication in relationship

· How our childhood experiences create certain unconscious expectations in our communication as adults that affect the relationship

· How important it is to bring conscious awareness to our communication so that our partner feels safe enough to fully express themselves and disentangle the mechanical expectations of communication from what is actually being said in the present moment

· The polarity between masculine and feminine and the dance to navigate those dynamics in a relationship

· We all have our shadow sides but when we bring consciousness to our own and our partner’s programming, we can become so much more compassionate and considerate of the other person, instead of being judgmental

· How the commitment to be in a loving enquiry with the other being creates a spirit of partnership coming from conscious awareness

If we are able to suspend the idea that our partner is to blame for our unhappiness and realise that we are often looking at an intimate mirror that shows us where we need to heal, a relationship can actually offer a massive opportunity for growth.

I hope this episode has helped you. Please share with me any aha moments that you had as I love hearing from you. Thank you for listening.

The Wisdom of Nature with Richard Good

The Wisdom of Nature with Richard Good

Welcome to the latest episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. Today I’m speaking with Richard Good. Richard has studied the human condition through the acting, healing and martial arts. His relationship with, and love of nature unfolded alongside a deep resonance with the ancient ways carried by men and women from the East and the West who honoured the Earth and all of Life. He has worked at the educational charity called the Eden Project for the last 20 years, the largest rainforest in captivity, in Cornwall UK.

Richard has recently created a new project called the Imaginal Collective, a network that connects people who are doing work that is having an impact on shifting consciousness, healing the earth and creating a more beautiful world.

In this insightful episode we speak about the innate wisdom of nature and how most humans are so profoundly disconnected from nature, when in fact we are nature. Unfortunately the complete disconnect that most societies and cultures have from nature is directly reflected in the problem we have in the world today.

We go into how the design function of the mind is survival so it will hook onto information that is related to any source of threat, instead of realising that we are energetic flows and when we work and dance with plants and nature, we can embody the same aliveness and regeneration that happens in nature so naturally and majestically.

Episode highlights:

  • Expansion of the Eden project across the world, currently in China where a dam is being built and another development coming up in New Zealand.
  • How most humans identify nature with nouns, as separate from us. We have no sense of nature being alive and how this deeply affects our wellbeing.
  • Eastern cultures and indigenous tribes describe life using verbs and there’s an aliveness to it – there’s a relationship where people and nature are not separate.
  • In today’s world, we are guided by the mind when in fact we can be guided by nature as a compass to navigate our path and take action.
  • We speak in depth about the Imaginal Collective and how it offers the possibility for people to be inspired by each others gifts and visions to then working together to create a better world.
  • Nature doesn’t compete in crisis – instead it flips and all species collaborate to survive and this is where humanity is right now.

It is essential that we hold a state of love, joy, peace and unity. By merging this state of being with aligned action, our collective vision will have its own consciousness for us to create from.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would love to hear if this episode has resonated with you. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review so that we can share these messages of wholeness and healing with the world.

Transforming Fear

Transforming Fear

Welcome to the next solo episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast where I speak about a topic that affects every human being. I speak to you about fear – one of the most dominant aspects of human nature that has the ability to completely block and disempower us.

If we allow fear to make our decisions, we will be destabilised and disconnected from our truth. Fear can block any kind of change in our lives.

One of the biggest misconceptions that I’ve noticed is that many believe that if we do enough work on ourselves, enough meditations, breathwork, classes etc – then we won’t feel fear anymore. Well, that’s not true. The mindset that there is a magic cure to make fear disappear, that something outside of us can eradicate our fear, is so disempowering as there is a state of survival that accompanies this feeling of trying to find a fix for our fear.

Episode Highlights:

  • Fear is essentially useful and is a sign that keeps us alert to danger.
  • Fear is not something that we need to eradicate as it’s deeply ingrained in our DNA for our survival.
  • One main problem that allows fear to guide our decisions is our relationship to fear and if we are unconscious, fear can keep us passive and stuck.
  • The second problem is very often, our inability to distinguish whether the fear rising in us is from a past memory or if it is attached to the present moment and we react as if it’s happening now.
  • The solution is not eradicating fear but learning to be aware of and consciously being with the fear moving through us.
  • Fear is a sign that we are on the edge of real change and if we can transform our relationship to fear, then imagine the incredible number of experiences we’ll be able to create in our lives.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I’d love to hear from you if you have any aha moments or shifts. I would also be so grateful if you could leave a review so that we can share this message with the world.

Shifting our External Reality from Within with Regan Hillyer

Shifting our External Reality from Within with Regan Hillyer

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am honoured to have you here. This week’s guest is the extraordinary Regan Hillyer. Regan is a quantum transformation coach, an MLP Therapist, counsellor, entrepreneur, CEO, philanthropist and an incredibly inspiring conscious human being as well as one of my mentors.

Regan challenges the conditioning which we identify with that is limiting our immense potential. She just knows that who we are is infinite possibility. She teaches that when we are brave enough to go in and shift internally and expand our field to greater capacities, we are able to start receiving more than we’ve ever imagined.

Regan is THE most expansive human being I have ever had the honour to learn from. She runs 15 businesses and brings in a revenue of multiple millions of dollars every year. And I promise you this, she does it with the utmost ease, grace, relaxation and peace. I am constantly learning from her about what abundance and service truly is. She teaches me how to expand to these levels from the purest space of love and alignment more than anyone else.

Regan also uses this abundance to do infinite good in the world and is teaching me to do the same.

Regan and I dive into a very deep beautiful conversation about how much our ability to stay centered in an energetic, emotional storm is the key to unlocking our biggest gifts.  Can we be in that place of stillness while everything is spinning in perceived madness around us?

Episode Highlights:

· In trying to escape, fix, hide from the storm, instead of sitting with it in stillness, we create more suffering and disconnect from our power

· 80% of creating our life is in our mindset, our energy and our frequency

· How our unconscious conditioning can block our potential to grow and expand as our subconscious is programmed to keep us safe and alive

· We speak about Regan’s journey and how her ability to listen to and act on her intuition has set her on the path of deep fulfilment, success and wealth

· The power of trust and surrender when it’s time for us to follow our calling

· 5 steps to begin shifting your internal reality about money to start creating the abundance that you desire

Uncovering Blindspots 101

Uncovering Blindspots 101

The next episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast is now live! In this solo episode I address the subject of blindspots – something that every human being will be able to relate to as we have all created stories of who we are in the world based on our childhood experiences.

Some key questions that I speak about are: What is a blind spot? How does it impact our lives? How does it rob us of our power? What creates a blindspot? How to start actually disentangling a blindspot?

A blindspot is where we are unconscious to how our past is entangled with our present,

and therefore having a significant impact into how we experience our life, how we know ourselves in life, how we identify who we are in life and how life shows up for us in relation to that identification.

As long as a blindspot stays unconscious, it will continue to have the power over our life. As our blindspot robs us of our power to create our lives, we don't have the ability to make conscious change or conscious choices; to create a new reality. We will be unable to create a life aligned with what is true for us, what is authentic, nourishing, abundant and feeds our soul.

True power is where we get to have a conscious, alive relationship with our ability to relate and dance with life. Real power is our ability to impact the unfolding of our life in a way that is aligned and authentic to who we truly are. It's led from a place of wholeness, not fear. It stems from a place of healing, wholeness, authenticity and truth, not fear, pain, lack and unworthiness.

We can't see what's generating how we experience what we're seeing. The person seeing the piece of truth that is being revealed is getting the experience filtered through the blind spot. The present experience then gets entangled with that person's past and that’s creating their perception of what they are seeing as real and true.

Episode highlights:

  • To create maturation, understanding is not enough
  • The older we get and the longer we stay unconscious to the blindspot, the deeper the wiring goes, and so the stronger the pattern goes.
  • The first way to start disentangling this wiring is you have to experience the original moment here in the present. Once you do, it’s like a frozen state from that moment in time that starts to dissolve.
  • Experiencing the original occurrence with full consciousness and distinguishing that this is a story from the past and it’s not your reality
  • By bringing conscious awareness to the trigger/ past story every time it happens, you will start re-wiring the neural pathways in your brain and start creating a new story. Your whole perception of your mind starts to shift and you access a whole other level of power to generate a new life.

If this episode has resonated with you, I invite you to pre-order my book Surrender here: https://nickyclinch.com/book/ If you feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, SURRENDER is THE book for you.

How to have a Conscious Transformational Relationship

How to have a Conscious Transformational Relationship

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so happy you are here. In this episode I speak about a three major blindspots that are rarely talked about that occur within relationships and if left unconscious, can create conflict and suffering where we really want to be creating more love.

Gaining awareness over these blind spots shifts how you see the ‘problems’ that show up for you in relationship. We cannot heal what we cannot see and so uncovering these blind spots opens up the possibility to heal and transform.

The first blind spot is our tendency to believe core life incidents from our childhood are in the past, all gone now and no longer get in our way. But actually our brains cannot distinguish between our past and our present. So we repeat experiences and patterns from the past around intimacy right here in our present.

The second blind spot is our experience of ourselves in adult relationships directly mirrors our original childhood experience and understanding of intimacy with our mothers. As adults, if we haven’t done the work on our past wounds and stories, the imprint of our childhood relationship with our mother can be living our lives.

The third blind spot is the relationship itself is its own entity. There are the two people plus the relationship itself, which is happening simultaneously. The relationship is evolving and moving in unity with how each person is reacting to the other person’s trigger within the relationship. Each partner cannot help but show up exactly how the other experiences intimacy.

As Eckhart Tolle says, the purpose of a relationship is not to make each other happy – it’s for spiritual transformation. If we are able to bring consciousness to our relationship and use it as a tool for our evolution and maturation, we will experience the greatest gift of love and intimacy.

Episode Highlights:

  • How the mind and body reactivates in our adult relationships as if we are reliving moments from childhood.
  • The consistent factor in any relationship is our own self. With honest self-analysis, we will see that we are each re-enacting our own childhood patterns and it’s not about the other person.
  • How we carry with us our original experience of intimacy with our mothers into all our adult relationships.
  • When we can bring insight and awareness into how we truly experience ourselves in a relationship, that’s when we’ll be able to dissolve and heal the unconscious patterns.
  • When the initial cocktail of hormones fizzle out and the veil of the honeymoon phase is lifted, that’s when the opportunity for true intimacy begins.
  • To heal the existing patterns and triggers within a relationship, both individuals have to bring awareness to the present moment to literally grow out of who we thought we were inside relationships. Once that happens, a new relationship can be built upon a new and stronger foundation.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would love to hear if this episode has resonated with you. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review so that we can share these messages of wholeness and healing with the world.

What is Love and how do we recognise it with Michaela Boehm

What is Love and how do we recognise it with Michaela Boehm

Welcome back to our intimacy series with Michaela Boehm, the founder of The Non-Linear Movement Method® and expert embodiment & intimacy coach and therapist.

This is a really juicy episode where we talk about love. We come into adulthood with mixed messages and expectations for love that we have to unlearn to really open to love. We look at the misconceptions around romantic love, the meaning of love and how it differs for everyone; embodiment and its impact on our ability to allow love in.

Love can be described as the ability to be open, feel and connect to your heart and another's heart. This openness is not an easy thing to practice, because our experiences happen during the course of our individuation and we decide that it is too painful. Most of us will close our hearts to avoid pain and reduce our ability to welcome love in.

When we allow love in, we become vulnerable to pain, loss and grief. If we can fully feel all our feelings, then with the exalted positive feeling of love comes the reciprocal shadow side where the feelings might not be so pleasant to experience. Because of this tendency that many people close themselves to the possibility of pain and grief, when we actually get the love that we want, we can't accept it because we are not a big enough vessel for the abundance of love that we receive.

Episode highlights:

  • Deconstructing how we fall in love and diving into this wild cocktail of survival mechanism and a primal need for reproduction.
  • How women unconsciously go through a chemically induced selection process and look for someone at the most basic level, who can keep her children alive and safe (supportive, helpful, status, power, health, wealth are all markers for the survival of the off spring).
  • We dive deep into attachment styles and previous experiences and how for some people love is equal to chaos, abuse, victimhood – a person tends to consciously or unconsciously look for our childhood patterns to be played out in adult love relationship.
  • The differentiation between the love feeling where you genuinely like the person that you are with and sexual tension/ attraction – which is not love but chemistry.
  • The different level of intimacy that’s possible when the infatuation has worn off and when the chemicals have stabilised – this is where the intimate relationship starts if we are willing to engage in it.
  • We talk in detail about the importance of the daily practice of embodiment so that the body and nervous system can integrate to become a bigger vessel for love.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review on iTunes so that we can share these messages of healing with the world.

Sensuality: Creating Inner Safety with Michaela Boehm

Sensuality: Creating Inner Safety with Michaela Boehm

I am so excited to share this conversation with you where I sit with Michaela Boehm for two consecutive episodes in which we are releasing an intimacy series this month. In this episode, we dive deeply into allowing in sensuality by creating internal safety within ourselves. Michaela is an expert in her field as an embodiment and intimacy coach and therapist. She is the founder of the Non-Linear Movement Method® and has been featured on some well-known platforms such as Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett and on Netflix series ‘Unwell’.

We talk about the difference between sensuality and sexuality and how according to Michaela, sensuality means complete engagement with life through all our senses. This intimate relationship that we have with life internally then allows us to be more alive in our external world.

Michaela explains how through the activation of the multiple layers of positive engagement through all our senses in our daily life experiences, our body fully opens and how that sensual openness is the prerequisite and amplifier for sexual pleasure.

We speak about how sensuality and embodiment are intricately connected because in embodiment we are listening to the messages of our five senses that our internal landscape sends us. And so, when we engage with our senses, life is so much more pleasurable.

We go into how the practice of embodiment exercises and how connecting, working with and caring for the body in natural ways enables the body to release stress and the nervous system gets regulated with the release of old emotions and stories that got stuck in the memory of the body.

Episode Highlights:

· How creating a landscape of internal safety allows us to be more alive and engaged with life.

· The importance of creating internal safety to develop trust within ourselves.

· The ability to trust in our internal self opens up so much more possibility to make the choices to create an externally safe environment for ourselves if we have those choices.

· We delve into how if we want to feel safe in receiving all the good that life has to offer, we also need to learn how to be with our own pain so that when the goodness comes we can allow it in because numbing out pain will also numb out pleasure.

· We go profoundly into the positive benefits on the nervous system of having our environment set up in a way that our body is relaxed on an ongoing basis, which makes a huge difference relationally as well as sexually, sensually and in our personal development.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would love to hear of any aha moments you had after listening to this. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review on my social media pages, website or iTunes so that we can share these messages of wholeness and healing with the world.

Transformational Relationships: from Crisis to Rebirth with Kevin Helas

Transformational Relationships: from Crisis to Rebirth with Kevin Helas

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so happy that you tuned in to listen to this very special episode that is so close to my heart and aligns with the personal journey I write about in my new book “SURRENDER: Break Free of Your Past, Realise Your Power, Live Beyond Your Story”.

For the first time ever, my husband Kevin and I sit together to speak publicly about the breakdown of our marriage and how that crisis in our relationship turned out to be one of the greatest and deepest phases of transformation and growth for us both and for our individual selves.

I feel that this is an ideal time for us to share this episode with you considering the kind of immense pressure people have been feeling in their relationships because of the lockdown. The last year of lockdown has intensified frustrations within relationships to such an extent that it has felt like a crash course in intense isolated relationship.

We dive so deeply into the complex layers of what creates the vicious cycles of misunderstandings, emotional struggles and repeated patterns and pains that cause so much strain between two people that are meant to love each other. How unconsciously, in trying to match up to the pictures in our mind of what love is, what marriage and relationships ‘should’ be, we end up suppressing so much of our true individual selves.

We speak about how all this creates blocks to truly giving and receiving love. And how the unhealed wounds of our childhood are contaminating our experience of our partners here in the present and how to heal this

And the enormous act of SURRENDER that was required for us to truly allow a rebirth of our marriage to become possible.

This story is a taste of the deeper writing I share with you in my new book SURRENDER.

Episode Highlights:

How deeply rooted memories and traumas from childhood experiences were affecting our marriage but we couldn’t see it until we were willing to truly surrender to a much deeper process.

Trust and feeling safe in relationships becomes available the more you are both willing to truly tell the truth about yourselves with the other.

The conditioning of relationship that has been sold to people and requires the two human beings to somehow suppress themselves in some way to be able to allow the relationship to work.

How in a relationship you have 3 entities – each individual and then the relationship itself which is an entity on its own – all 3 must be worked on to continue evolving, healing, growth and alignment.

It often appears that the other person is to blame and yet as we explore, we realise that our reactions are mechanical and we stop seeing the other person and vice versa.

How space apart and doing the deep healing work created a completely new dynamic, new love and new relationship to unfold.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would love to hear of any aha moments you had after listening to this. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review on my social media pages, website or iTunes so that we can share with the world how these messages of wholeness and healing can change people’s lives.

Shamanism in the Modern World with Ya'Acov Darling Khan

Shamanism in the Modern World with Ya'Acov Darling Khan

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast. I am so thrilled to share this beautiful episode with you where I speak with the amazing teacher, authentic being and modern day shaman, Ya'Acov Darling. If you are remotely interested in learning how to invoke the power and the shaman within you, then please listen to this episode.

Ya'Acov is someone who has been in my world since I came into recovery from my addictions around 20 years ago. He is the founder of Movement Medicine and is the best selling author of Jaguar in the Body, Butterfly in the Heart and the brilliant new book Shaman Invoking Power, Purpose and Presence in the Core of Who You Are.

Ya'Acov is absolutely committed to the embodiment and integration of the wisdom and teachings from shamanism and how we can bring this into our everyday lives.

In this episode, Ya'Acov and I dive deeply into the practice of initiation, the process and commitment to bringing shamanism, its teachings and wisdom into our everyday lives and how that can serve us right now.

Episode Highlights:

  • How can we begin to educate ourselves and our children about something that is already inside of us
  • Life is a series of initiations all the way through to death and right now, we are in a time of collective initiation of really having to face things that we haven't had to face before
  • We are a creative part of an extraordinary creative universe and we have a role to play.
  • Getting through these times by bringing together the best of all wisdom, whether it's scientific, therapeutic, spiritual, emotional.
  • How education plays a key role in teaching us how to use all these brilliant ways of seeing how we can be in a more harmonious relationship with ourselves, with each other, across tribes, cultures and different belief systems.
  • The crucial need for us to start listening - as basic as learning to talk is learning to listen.
  • How to move with fear and be a vessel for the fear to move through us through dance, breath and movement instead of freezing up in fright.
  • We also take a close look at shamanism and why there’s so much mistrust around it.

You can check out Ya’Acov’s resources on www.21gratitudes.com where him and his wife have created a number of free courses for self-study to deal with the feelings coming up during the pandemic. He is also offering a membership at a very low cost where teachings and live online workshops are on offer during this time.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I always love to hear from you so please do let me know if this subject has resonated with you and provided you with some valuable information. Healing Trauma through Breathwork with Rebecca Dennis

Healing Trauma through Breathwork with Rebecca Dennis

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so excited to share this week’s episode with you. I’m speaking with Rebecca Dennis, an international author, coach and workshop leader who provides formidable space for transformation.

She is on a mission to teach as many people as possible the absolute power within each one of us that comes with our ability to breathe consciously and with awareness in a connected, aligned and integrated way.

In this episode, Rebecca and I focus on healing trauma through the breath, and we speak about how fundamentally important it is right now, in such challenging times, to be able to learn how to breathe.

The breath is something that is already available in every single one of us. Unfortunately, more often than not, we do not know how to breathe properly, certainly not consciously and in an empowered way.

In this episode, Rebecca and I speak about how we can use the breath in order to empower ourselves, and also to heal trauma triggers and old wounds that are coming up.

If there was ever something to discover at this time in people's lives, it's to discover that they have this gift, which is their breath, that is available all the time and it's right here.

Episode Highlights:

  • How can we use our breath to create healing.
  • Empowering people to have a deep inner knowing where they can really listen to the sound or the feeling of their own intuition, because no one can teach you intuition. Only you can experience that - as a voice, a feeling, a sound or a sense.
  • Self-love and self-empowerment when you breathe consciously.
  • How children naturally know how to breathe - being so present as they have no fear or embarrassment. The breath is just open and flowing in the present.
  • How our different experiences that come with conditions and instructions start causing little traumas in us on a mental, physical or emotional level.
  • How the different rhythm of patterns in our breaths are changing with different experiences and all the microscopic little muscles in our body contract and memorise different experiences.
  • Listening to the different parts of the body where the breath is held or stuck – it might be the jaw, throat, neck, solar plexus etc.
  • To live freely, there is uncomfortableness to experience first.
  • Coming back to your breath and to live free, is coming out of survival mode and letting go of various coping mechanisms.

You can check out Rebecca’s audible book titled Breathe to help you on your breathwork journey. This beautiful book is a guide packed with the very foundations of Rebecca’s teachings to support you with your breathwork practice.

Keep an eye out for Rebecca’s published book that is coming out in June 2021 called Let it Go, which is a book about the human experience.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I always love to hear from you so please do let me know if this subject has resonated with you and provided you with a new insight into the gift of your breath.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

5 Powerful Questions to Dissolve Triggers & Transform

5 Powerful Questions to Dissolve Triggers & Transform

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so happy that you are here. In this solo episode I am diving deep into a very fundamental topic that everybody will identify with – our triggers and how sometimes, when we are unconscious, we tend to live our lives from this place of unhealed wound from the past instead of actually living in our present.

Any human being experiences triggers. We may not be conscious of it and it has nothing to do with whether we are good or bad or whether we have done the work or not - as part of being human we will have experiences where we are triggered.

A trigger is when something in the present (it can be anything from a smell, a look, a word etc) has any kind of similarities to a point in your past that is unhealed and inside of you. The sameness triggers what’s already inside of you and you will find yourself having an absolute identical repetition of the unhealed wound from my past. It often feels like it is about the person or current situation but what is happening has already been there waiting to be reactivated.

I want to show you how to eradicate any stigmas about triggers and highlight that there’s nothing wrong about being triggered. The only distinction is whether we are aware of the triggers or whether we are unconscious about them, which means that we are being lived by our triggers.

As Carl Jung says, Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.

I am here to guide you to become conscious of your triggers and when they are activated, to consciously remove yourself from the situation to gift yourself the time and attention that your unhealed wound is needing from you. This is the process of healing and maturation.

I offer you a 5 question process to give you an opportunity to break out of the grip of the  past and start coming home to who you truly are:

1) What am I actually seeing right now

2) Where am I seeing from right now. How old am I?

3) Is what I am seeing true or is my sight contaminated right now?

4) What do I truly want and need in this wound?

5) Can I be with what is moving through me right now?

If you are willing to make these 2 commitments:

1) You have to really want to heal – not to win, not to be right, not to fight

2) You have to be willing to be 100% responsible and acknowledge that your trigger is yours and what was coming up was always already there,

I promise you that you will go through profound growth and healing with this conscious exercise that offers you the chance to sit with your triggers, heal them and allow you to come back to the present to see clearly without the veil of the unhealed wound.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I would love to hear of any breakthroughs you had after listening to this. I would truly appreciate if you would leave a review on my social media pages, website or iTunes so that we can share with the world how these messages of wholeness and healing can change people’s lives.

Why do we need to prove ourselves with Suzy Ashworth

Why do we need to prove ourselves with Suzy Ashworth

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so excited to share this week’s episode with you – I am talking to my business coach, the amazing and inspirational Suzy Ashworth. Suzy is an incredible business mentor and quantum transformation coach who truly embodies and lives all that she teaches.

Suzy has been an integral part of the expansion of my business and the most important thing she has taught me is to always remember who I am. This week we will be looking at why so many of us constantly feel the need to prove ourselves. This is a topic that EVERYONE will be able to relate to and I’d love to know what you think and whether you have any insights or aha moments.

The energy of not feeling enough and wanting to manipulate the way others see us is such a common concern. How often have you been in a situation when you feel “less than’ the people around you? Wanting so much for people to know who you are, what you are about and that what you have to say is important. But then not recognising or feeling aligned with this version of yourself that you are presenting?

These personas that we create in order to feel as if we belong are coming from a place of survival; they drain our energy and life force. Because when we come from a place of needing to prove ourselves, we are actually creating a separation rather than a connection. This separation is a mirror of the separation between your true, authentic self and what you are presenting to the world.

Individually and as a collective we are going through a realisation that these versions of ourselves that we are presenting to the world no longer fit. We are beginning to see that there is another way for us to be.

Highlights

  • Understanding that the need to prove ourselves to others comes from a place of survival and fear.
  • That having a strong desire for people to see us in a particular way can lead us to create a façade which feels inauthentic.
  • Recognising that imposter syndrome is a denial and limitation of our power and greatness. When we are out of alignment and integrity with our true and full selves we feel a sense of deep shame.
  • How we can drop into a place of knowing that we are enough and have nothing to prove – even to ourselves.
  • How we can only become true leaders when we come from a place of truth and not needing to been seen in a certain way.
  • That true power does not come from manipulation or force, it is already within all of us when we can surrender and allow ourselves to be.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I always love to hear from you so please do let me know if this subject has resonated with you and provided a sense of possibility of a new of being. healing is accessible to you.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

The Shadow Side to the Wellness and Spirituality Industry

The Shadow Side to the Wellness and Spirituality Industry

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so excited for you to hear this special solo episode where I take a look at the shadow side of the wellness industry.

There is an unsettling ideology being perpetuated by some parts of this industry that “negative” emotions like anger, grief, pain, or sadness are somehow wrong, unwanted and should be avoided at all costs. There is a pervasive toxic positivity that send the message that it’s only acceptable to be interested in love, light, and kindness. But in truth this avoidance and dismissal of the full spectrum of normal human emotions can be deeply harmful.

The topics of wellness and well-being are often surrounded by beautiful images of shiny, positive people. And while ALWAYS being happy might sound incredibly aspirational, the real underlying message being shared here is that anything that isn’t in this kind, nice, shiny, comfortable, pretty, smiley box is wrong, unhealthy and bad. There is a suggestion that any “negative” emotions do not have a place in the wellness industry and that is EXTREMELY dangerous.

We are being shown and, increasingly, conditioned to buy into an extremely narrow picture of what it means to be well. But in some cases niceness, kindness, and positivity can actually be used as a form of suppression and control, encouraging us to avoid and hide from what we are really feeling.

In this episode, we will discuss how in order to have a full human experience we need to accept and allow space for all of our emotions. True wellness is about honouring our whole, full and authentic selves. This episode is a love letter from my heart to yours and I can’t wait for you to listen.

Highlights

  • Why love and light is not something that we need to do or get. It’s something that we already are.

  • When we release the picture in our mind of who we think we NEED to be (good, kind, and NICE) we allow space to step into our power.

  • There are four parts of every person that exist - who we show to the world, who we don’t show to anybody, who we don’t want anybody to see (including ourselves) and who we are behind the mask.

  • What it means to have true well-being in your life and how to achieve that.

  • Why we aren’t meant to live a life we can only tolerate while rejecting all of the pain inside of us and how to release the fear of authentic self-expression.

  • Love does not look like shiny and light all the time. Sometimes love can be nurturing, soothing, loving, and caring, and sometimes love is a raging lioness that will kill for her babies.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. If it has brought up any feelings inside of yourself that are not bright and shiny and that scares you, I invite you to sit with those feelings. The greatest and most generous gift we can give to ourselves is our awareness and attention, so look deeply inward, and you just might find a different type of healing is accessible to you.

Grief - The Portal to Power & Freedom with Donna Lancaster

Grief - The Portal to Power & Freedom with Donna Lancaster

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am so excited to have you here today as we dive into the topic of grief. This week I had the pleasure of being joined by Donna Lancaster, who is so aptly known as the Queen of Grief. It's a subject that most people would prefer to ignore because it understandably brings up many painful emotions. But Donna manages to bring light and joy to a topic that is so often avoided.

You will hear us dive deeply into the wounds that we unknowingly hold in our bodies and how grief can serve as the gateway to transformation and deepen our ability to love and live in joy.

Donna explains how she was  initially drawn to this work after a diagnosis of depression. She dealt with this for over 20 years, carrying that label and not understanding what it meant or how to heal. It was only after sitting with this for a long time that she had an aha moment and realised that she wasn’t depressed but was dealing with unprocessed grief.

This episode will teach you to view heartbreak as a transformative portal to let in light and joy. This episode is one of my favourites so far and I can’t wait for you to listen.

Highlights

  • Why grief is not always related to bereavement, there are many different types of grief a person can experience.
  • Grief is not the price we pay for love. GRIEF IS LOVE. It is an access point, and it’s another way to honour the life of those we love.
  • How to support your body so that it feels safe to release grief in a healthy and supported way.
  • When your heart breaks, it also opens. A heartbreak is a beautiful opening for change, transformation, and rebirth.
  • Why depression, anxiety, IBS, and other health issues can appear when we don’t allow ourselves to sit with and process our grief.
  • How we can sit with and move through the communal grief going on in the world right now and how to find the courage required to let go and surrender.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. So many of us are experiencing collective grief right now, and I hope this episode provided you with some tools to BE WITH the pain and allow it to be your access point to an abundance of love and joy.

How to work with your Spirit Guides with Yamile Yemoonyah

How to work with your Spirit Guides with Yamile Yemoonyah

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am so excited to have you here today honouring your maturation journey. This week I had the pleasure of being joined by Yamile Yemoonyah, a powerful Spirit Guide and a Channel of deep connections with beings in other realms.

I had a reading with Yamile last year, and I can honestly say that in all my years of working with energy, ancestors and spirit realms, this reading was the most profound I have ever experienced and changed the way I connect with my guides.

In this episode, you will hear something that may surprise you. That the power you may be looking for by trying to connect with your spirit guides is already inside of you. This new paradigm we’re moving into as we move away from the old way of being in this world is an invitation to start dissolving borders and to begin opening our whole selves up to a deeper connection with other realms.

The main message that Yamile touches on again and again, is that the power we are searching for in our Spirit Guides already lies within us. We are moving into this new Aquarian age where I firmly believe that having a connection to other beings and realms beyond what we currently recognise will be normalised. A new type of human being is emerging on this planet, one that is evolved and open-minded. I can say without a doubt that Yamile is one of these beings.

You will hear the story of how she discovered her gifts and how she was guided to embody and align with her soul’s purpose. I also share what I experienced during my reading with Yamile and how I could connect to a being from another galaxy. Getting to meet my star being Spirit Guide was like remembering a part of myself I had long forgotten, and I can’t wait for you to hear all about it.

Highlights

  • What a Spirit Guide really is and the seven different types of guides you can have.
  • How the only limitations that exist in our lives are self-imposed.
  • A meditation to help you invite your Spirit Guides into your life.
  • The new kind of human being that is emerging on the planet and how to connect with your inner gifts so that you live and serve the planet in alignment with your soul’s purpose.
  • How to align yourself with the universe and Mother Earth so that you can connect to your power.
  • The best types of questions to ask your Spirit Guides and how to understand the messages they give you.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I hope that you were able to gain some deeper insight into how powerful it can be to connect with your Spirit Guides and that you now have some incredible tools to help you do so.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Money & Intimacy

Money & Intimacy

Welcome to the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am deeply honoured that you’re joining me here. This week is a SOLO episode where I dive deeply into examining the correlation between our relationship with intimacy and our relationship with money.

I share intimately my own journey through this work and how I saw the direct link between my fear of being vulnerable and how I showed up in my intimate relationships, and how that inhibited me embodying my full power in my work and increasing my revenue.

There is a reason why the process of maturation is life long. It’s not something that you can briefly engage with and then suddenly you’re “fixed” or “healed”. It’s a living, breathing, and ever-evolving journey where you will continue to uncover new layers that need to be felt, processed and released. Each time another layer of your story will surface and so the journey unfurls.

It’s beautiful and intricate, and it can bring you to your knees at times, but there is no greater or more powerful work you can do.

This episode is all about how our relationship with money is inherently tied to our self-worth and our fear of full self-expression. When we allow ourselves to be seen that opens up us to judgment, and that terrifies us. I am excited for you to hear my radically honest experience as I continue to learn to live beyond my story.

Highlights

  • How to live your soul’s purpose and share your gifts without fear of judgement.
  • Why learning to fully express yourself is the bravest and most worthwhile thing you can do.
  • How to release limiting beliefs, start living beyond your story and open up to receiving love and money with unlimited abundance.
  • The importance of realising your blind spots so you can feel and heal.
  • Why our relationship with money is directly linked to our relationship with intimacy, and how to heal in both areas.

Thank you so much for listening to this SOLO episode, I hope you found it useful and enjoyed hearing what’s been in my heart recently.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

My Emigration During a Pandemic

My Emigration During a Pandemic

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here. This week is a SOLO episode where I share the whole story around my family’s emigration journey to New Zealand during a global pandemic.

The emigration process reaffirmed what I already knew but at some times resisted which is learning how to let go. Despite all of the roadblocks and detours that occurred while trying to make this move happen, I continued to be led by intention. I also share how in the process of 5 years my entire life (and marriage) had to change in order to allow this process of alignment to occur.

I share intimately about the stories I personally had to shift in my own self around money, work, love, possibility and how I did that.  And how much none of it ever made ‘sense’ in my mind yet felt absolutely right within me.

This episode is a message of hope for those of you who are still learning to listen to life and figure out how to live beyond your limiting beliefs and story.

Highlights

  • How the pandemic allowed me to go deeper and surrender while listening to my heart’s whispers of desire.
  • How the limitations to our happiness are self imposed by living in our story and not in the present moment.
  • When you are willing to take that “leap of faith” you create the possibility to open up an entirely new way of being.
  • How we have been steeped in and conditioned to live in survival, and how the pandemic has offered us the opportunity to mature and live in a new paradigm.
  • The power of synchronicity, letting go and trusting in the timing of your life.

Thank you so much for listening to this SOLO episode, it was a true joy recording it for you and I hope you find this message rich and meaningful.

My Journey with Plant Medicine & Psychedelics - Part 2

My Journey with Plant Medicine & Psychedelics - Part 2

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here. This week is another SOLO episode where I continue to share my journey with plant medicine.

This episode begins ten years on from my initial experience with plant medicine.  For ten years, I truly believed that my relationship with ayahuasca had finished after my first trip to Peru. I had learned so much and had such a profound awakening and experience with aya, but it had also been extremely challenging. The hours of purging, facing my dark night of the soul and the deep, unrelenting introspection was a lot, and I felt certain I could close that door for good.

That was until one day, ten years later, when I was driving, and a song came on from a CD I had purchased in Peru. The music awoke something in me, and I just knew, “I need to go back to the jungle.”Once again, I heard the call of plant medicine loud and clear.

Suddenly, everywhere I turned, these messages kept appearing, each one telling me that I needed to sit with ayahuasca and listen to her teachings again. I received a serendipitous email from my dear friend Emma Cannon about an alignment master training in the Amazon for healers. The incredible Gabor Mate was hosting the retreat, and I knew immediately that I needed to be there.

In this episode, I share what I learned in these ayahuasca ceremonies and how I healed my most profound trauma through the power of plant medicine. Through these lessons, my marriage was given new life, my self-worth renewed, and I was finally able to heal at the tap root of my pain and genuinely love myself.

Highlights

  • Why I decided it was time to go back to the Amazon and re-engage with plant medicine healing.
  • How the lessons I learned in Peru completely transformed my marriage, my business, and aligned me with my soul’s purpose.
  • The powerful messages that ayahuasca can share with us and how to properly prepare your body and soul for a plant medicine journey.
  • Why it’s so important to find the right facilitator for your plant medicine experience.
  • How to integrate the shifts and wisdom you have received from plant medicine into your daily life once you return home.
  • Why I feel this experience prepared me to fully show up in the world during this global pandemic and enabled me to hold space for others as we move into this new paradigm.

Thank you so much for listening to Part 2 of my Plant Medicine Journey. Psychedelics and plant medicines have changed my life in such a profound way, and I hope that as soon as the borders open again, I can return to the rainforest and continue this powerful maturation work.

If you want to experience plant medicine, I encourage you to work with the right people who lead with integrity and pure intentions. These plants aren’t a  game. They are tremendously powerful teachers. Approach them with an open heart, a desire to learn and complete humility. If you do so, they will treat you well and serve your deeper maturation.

My Journey with Plant Medicine & Psychedelics - Part 1

My Journey with Plant Medicine & Psychedelics - Part 1

I am so happy to share my latest solo episode for the Soul Surgery Podcast. Here I talk about the beginning of my plant medicine journey and my first ceremonies with ayahuasca. This was such a beautiful, sacred experience for me, it literally cracked my heart wide open, healed deep trauma, and directed me onto a more authentic path.

After I got clean from my addictions, I did everything I thought I SHOULD be doing. I was going to 12 steps meetings, abstaining from drugs and alcohol and eating nourishing food I told myself I SHOULD feel healed and whole, but I didn't, something was missing. Then I turned 30, and it hit me; just how trapped and broken I felt.

I was experiencing enormous shame and fear deep within my soul. People around me assumed that because I wasn’t high or drunk all the time any more than I was “better”. And  I was doing better on the outside, but inside I wasn’t free and I had not healed.

There was still a huge shadow inside me. I wanted to be a mum and wife, but every time I got close to that dream, I failed. I chose the wrong people, or I sabotaged my own happiness because deep down I didn’t feel worthy.

I was dating a man who had done a lot of work with ayahuasca, and one day I heard her calling me. The signs appeared everywhere and the message was clear - I NEEDED to experience ayahuasca myself. I met the man who would become my shaman and everything fell into place. Before I knew it, I was headed to Peru for 5 life-changing weeks. The minute I stepped off the plane my whole body exhaled and I knew I was where I needed to be.

Ayahuasca showed me exactly what was blocking my freedom and told me with everything I needed to hear.

My heart told me to follow and trust, and I am so glad I listened. It was a profoundly challenging 5 weeks. I spent the first few ceremonies in absolute terror as my veil of victimhood was finally lifted. I was forced to face the parts of myself I had abandoned.

After that trip I was a completely different person, but it was then the hard work began. The true shift came as I started to integrate everything I had learned and it was hard. I  broke up with my then-boyfriend, leaving at at 2 am.  I drove away leaving behind something profound; my self-doubt and the denial of my innate value and worth.

I became a powerful person who knew her value. I vowed never to give away my power again. The next phase of my life was fundamentally transformational, and I met the man of my dreams and gave birth to the daughter I dreamt about in the jungle.

Highlights

  • How I first felt called to plant medicine and how to know if it’s right for you.
  • The importance of going into an ayahuasca ceremony with clear intentions and how to ask the plants to reveal your most profound truth.
  • I discuss the variety of plant medicines I experienced and their healing properties.
  • Why you must experience ayahuasca under proper guidance and how to find the right facility.
  • The shifts that took place in my life after experiencing plant medicine and how I integrated them into my life.

Thank you for listening. That trip helped me step out of child-like thinking and into an embodiment of womanhood.

If any of this resonated with you, or you’ve had a transformational experience with ayahuasca, I would love to hear from you.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes so we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am so glad that you are here. This week I am thrilled to introduce the beautiful soul that is Michaela Boehm. She is, without a doubt, one of the most extraordinary, brilliant, and heart-led women I have ever met and it was such a pleasure to speak with her.

Michaela Boehm is a world-renowned relationship intimacy and sexuality expert and is the creator of The Non Linear Movement Method®, a somatic release modality which utilises principles of trauma therapy, polyvagal theory and movement for nervous system regulation. Michaela was also educated in a female held Tantric Shakta tradition (Kashmir Shaivism). Mentored by her female teacher, she is now the lineage holder of this tradition and dedicated to passing these teachings on to the women she mentors.

During the recent COVID crisis, Michaela has pivoted her mission to online teaching to support people through emotional, health and relational challenges.

In this episode, we discuss how the pandemic has forced us to engage in examining our inner world. What we’ve previously used to fill our lives and our time has been removed, and many of us have had to face our whole selves and our relationships head-on for the first time.

For the first time in a LONG time, we are all having to face our shadow and examine the parts of ourselves we don’t want to acknowledge, the parts that are raw and painful. The parts that we don’t want to show to anyone, not even ourselves.

For many of us, lockdowns have put our closest relationships under a microscope. We’ve had to adapt to staying indoors, not travelling and being with our partners a lot more than usual and this isn’t easy.

Michaela and I share how you can learn to find a new flow in your marriage or partnership by reclaiming your power and providing yourself with an unwavering base of self-love and self-trust.

Being at home has shown many of us how dependent we are on validation from our partners, our jobs, our social lives and our hobbies. Now we are being called to shift the lens through which we view our lives and our purpose, and to understand that your self-worth must come from within.

In this episode we discuss….

  • Why self-love and pleasure is quite literally an inside job.
  • How your innate worthiness never diminishes and how you can learn to tap into it.
  • The importance of slowing down and listening to what your body needs.
  • How relationship dynamics are influenced by our upbringing, our previous relationships, and our trauma patterns.
  • How compassion, collaboration, and cooperation is what we need to grow through this new dynamic and thrive in our relationships.
  • How we can reassess our self-worth and our value and find peace.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode.

I hope we have helped you to realise that your pleasure and sense of self-worth comes from within. You hold the keys to your own satisfaction and happiness.

I would love to hear from you if any of this episode moved you, so feel free to send me an email or reach out via DM’s on Instagram.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

How to Align with Your Purpose: Living from the heart

How to Align with Your Purpose: Living from the heart

I am so excited to share with you this week’s episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast! This week is a very special solo episode that I felt called to share with you, all about how to get out of your head and start listening to your heart.

All of the experiences and collective memories inside of our minds are steeped in the past. The whole nature of vision and dreaming is about expanding and growing beyond the limitations of our minds. To step into our expansive futures, we need to learn to move beyond our comfort zones and be willing to face our fear without judgement.

It’s about learning to envision something that doesn’t yet exist and realising that it is within our power to pursue it. If you can dream it, it can happen.  As humans, we are programmed to want to stay in our comfort zones where things feel safe. We like to know how things will turn out, and it is often the fear of the unknown that prevents us from ever pursuing our wildest dreams.

What we think we know in our minds keeps us “safe”, so dreaming and visioning can only happen in the heart. Because in the heart, there is no story, no limits and no memories, only spaciousness and stillness.

In Chinese medicine, the heart is known as the house of all answers and the seat of consciousness and truth. There is no language or conditioning, only truth. The heart isn’t concerned with understanding. It just is interested in flying and soaring beyond what we deem as safe towards our deepest desires.

If you already have a picture in your mind of how you want life to be, you aren’t dreaming. You are planning! There is a time and a place for being organised and planning the life you want, but that is not how you will achieve your biggest dreams and most powerful visions.

In order to fly, you must be willing to take that first step into the unknown. The number one thing that prevents people from listening to their heart is that nagging inner voice saying “You don’t know how to get there, it’s not safe”. It’s this not knowing and sense of fear that kills so many of our  dreams.

The beauty of leading a heart centred life is daring to step into the unknown and create something from nothing. To be a visionary who can build something that doesn’t yet exist.

Highlights

  • How to go beyond your conditioning and get out of your story to listen to your heart.
  • Why you don’t need to to try and find your purpose if you just slow down and commit to honouring your heart. Your purpose will find you.
  • How alignment is not something you need to find, it’s something that you need to allow to take place. Every step into the unknown that you are willing to take, the more into alignment you will become.
  • Why your dreams and goals should be bigger than who you are right now. If they don’t scare you, then they aren’t big enough.
  • How to step into the unknown, listen to your heart, and fly.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode, I am so honoured to have you here.  I am so grateful that you are committed to doing the work of maturation alongside me and I hope this episode spoke to your heart. It’s where your magic lies.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Honouring 2020 - Letting Go, Healing Deep & Growing Big with Tamu Thomas

Honouring 2020 - Letting Go, Healing Deep & Growing Big with Tamu Thomas

Welcome to the final Soul Surgery Podcast episode of 2020! This year has been unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, and I hope this podcast has provided you some refuge from the storm and a little soul nurturing.

I knew that I wanted this episode to go DEEP, and that I needed a guest who could uncover the valuable lessons we can take forward from the events of the past year. It is so important that we not only acknowledge the many obstacles we have all faced, but also take time to celebrate our wins and the moments of joy and connection. This is an opportunity for us to appreciate what we can learn from our biggest challenges, and how these shifts can contribute to  our evolution.

I couldn’t think of a better person to share this with than the incredible Tamu Thomas. Tamu is a somatic coach and entrepreneur as well as being a soulful, powerful, honest, heartfelt and truly authentic black woman.

It’s so important for us all to take the time to process and make sense of this crazy year and closeout 2020 with wholeness and completion. The intention being that we can move into the new year with an open heart and a feeling of peace and safety. In order to do this we must FEEL it all.

What we resist persists and what we don’t feel fully can become stuck in our hearts, bodies and souls. An integral part of ceremony is facing and honouring what has been so that we can then release what we have been holding on to that no longer serves us.

Learning how to ground ourselves, soften and bring awareness into our bodies is key for healing. When we are living from a place of survival we limit our opportunities for allowing this healing. We need to create space, stillness and drop much more deeply into our bodies.

Tamu and I share our own challenges from this year and how we have grown through them. If you can allow yourself to sit with your experiences  and feel all of your emotions, even the darkest most painful ones, you create the possibility to alchemize those experiences. Your hard times really can become an opportunity for enormous growth.

Highlights

  • As painful and challenging as this year has been, the invitation to grow, heal, expand and release what no longer serves us has never been greater.
  • How to close out this year from a place of wholeness and enter 2021 with a fresh perspective, clear intentions and an open heart.
  • How to create the life we want by dismantling the systems that made us sick in the first place.
  • To come home to ourselves, we must drop deeper into our bodies and actively choose to not give in to our conditioning.
  • Why sitting with your own humanness can be your greatest teacher and the richest nourishment for your maturation and healing.
  • The importance of allowing yourself to have “messy moments” so that you can feel your emotions and heal them at the tap root.

Please take the time to ask yourself some of the questions we discussed in this episode about what you can take away from this year. How have you moved through the challenges that 2020 has brought into your life to grow and further your maturation? I want to know!

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

5 Steps to Radical Self Love

5 Steps to Radical Self Love

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here. This week I have recorded  a solo episode discussing how we can give ourselves the gift of radical self-love.

Last week I woke up feeling empty, exhausted and so drained, to the point that I could feel the effects were impacting upon  my whole outlook on life.  I realised I had stopped seeing any possibility and wasn’t  appreciating  any of the good in my life.  Instead I had become focused  on what was triggering me and how I was being lived by my stories. It felt painful to realise this, but at the same time it was a gift;  a moment of real clarity. I uncovered a deep  awareness of how much we all shame and judge ourselves if we aren’t feeling happy or positive.

We live in a world where a constant state of happiness is the ultimate goal. So much so that  feeling any negative emotion can often trigger a sense of failure and shame.  If we aren’t feeling happy something must be wrong, there must be  something we need to fix. This is apparent almost everywhere. Increasingly we are being sold an incredibly narrow picture of the  “ideal” way to live. Social media, the internet, magazines and ads are selling us the same story.  It tells us we are not enough. That we need to be  prettier, more successful, happier. We need to buy more and we need to be more.

But this picture we are being sold is not the truth and it is diminishing our ability to be with and accept the full spectrum and beauty of our feelings.

Over the past few years, the conversation surrounding weight and body image has begun to change  and challenge the way we have historically measured beauty and worth. Until now we have been fed a similarly limited  narrative about what it means to live a happy life and how we should be living as human beings. We need to challenge this narrative that tells us  if we aren’t happy all of the time, then we are somehow “doing” life wrong.

In this episode, I explore how to radically love and accept yourself so that you can allow and BE with all of your feelings without shame or judgement.

Highlights

  • How being with your feelings and releasing judgement is the key to healing.
  • How to feed your mind, body and soul with nourishing experiences, connection and joy.
  • Why your rock bottom moments can serve as your greatest teachers and help you heal and grow.
  • How to get off the hamster wheel of self-doubt and step into your power.
  • What steps you can take to accept yourself completely and wholly in this present moment.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode, I am so grateful that you are committed to doing the work of maturation alongside me. You are allowed to have low moments, and you deserve to FEEL it all, without judging yourself or telling yourself that these feelings are bad or wrong.

When we are able to give it to ourselves, our radical self-love is what heals us when we are willing to give it to ourselves.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Love,

Nicky x

Growing Beyond Comfortability: We Can Do Hard Things

Growing Beyond Comfortability: We Can Do Hard Things

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

This week I wanted to share a topic that has been weighing heavy on my heart. How can we learn to sit with discomfort and grow through it, rather than reject anything that doesn’t fit our worldview? It is this rejection of discomfort that limits the growth and evolution of humanity and society as a whole.

Since the onset of this pandemic, everything feels heightened. I feel I’ve recently experienced a vast metamorphosis and I’m just beginning to come out the other side. It’s like another part of me has disintegrated, and now I am seeing things from a new place. I am waking up to the insanity of how we are currently  existing as human beings.

We are living in a world where what we are taught to celebrate and promote and aspire to, is often out of alignment with what is true and heartfelt.

The stories and narratives our society celebrates are based on competition, comparison and judgement. Our egos become addicted to the drama and adrenaline. We crave it, and without it we lose interest. It’s how our 24 hour news cycle operates; it’s why gossip magazines are in every supermarket, and it’s why online comment sections are becoming a source of so much conflict.

How have we become a culture where we only want to be around people who think the same as us? There is a reason why confirmation bias makes us feel so good - it reaffirms and reinforces our beliefs. We feel validated when people agree with us.

Anything that challenges our worldview and core beliefs can feel like a threat and a challenge to our worth. So we can end up only accepting people who continually communicate that we are right in our actions and thoughts, while dismissing anyone else. My way of thinking is right, and yours is wrong. This polarisation is how our world is currently operating, and this has only been exacerbated by the current pandemic. We don’t want to accept feeling anything other than comfortable and good, but this mindset will not provide fertile ground for growth and evolution.

In this episode, I explore how we can lean into discomfort and prove to ourselves that we can do hard things.

Highlights

  • Why exposing ourselves to information that doesn’t fit our worldview and belief system feels so threatening.
  • How the majority of our leaders are experiencing the world through the lens of their unhealed childhood trauma.
  • Why society is being run in a way that feeds our trauma rather than promotes its healing .
  • How we can reclaim and tap into our power.
  • What we can teach the next generation about their ability to do hard things.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode and allowing me to share my heart. If this message resonates with you or raises any questions, please reach out to me on Instagram.

How We Can Access JOY with Shannon Kaiser

How We Can Access JOY with Shannon Kaiser

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. This week’s is a VERY special episode, where I introduce you to entrepreneur, thought leader, mentor, and beautiful soul Shannon Kaiser. Shannon is a life coach, speaker and retreat leader who helps people awaken and align to their true self so they can live their highest potential. She is also the author of 5 best-selling books on the psychology of happiness and fulfilment. Her latest book Joy Seeker draws from her own experiences to help find meaning, connection and joy in day to day life.

In this episode, Shannon shares how living with a spirit of joy and happiness is a conscious choice that is available to all of us  each day. When we can align with who we truly are, we all have the potential to live as this expression of love and we can demonstrate what living from a place of love looks like for the rest of the world. Shannon also shares how we can learn to navigate and move through fear, so it doesn’t limit us but instead allows us to flourish.

Everybody is living their own experience of Covid-19 and the accompanying  lockdowns and restrictions through their own lens. However, we have the opportunity to experience this as sitting in ceremony together.

Shannon embodies the beliefs that joy comes when we let go of expectations, co-create our own reality alongside source, and accept the reality of others even if  it doesn’t match our own. Through surrender and going inward to uncover what it is that serves  our highest good, we can choose to live from a place of joy.

When we live from a place of fear we lower our vibration and remain stuck in the past, but we need to release the judgement we place on our  negative emotions. Shame, fear, hate, anger, sadness  and frustration all serve a purpose, and if we can give ourselves permission to feel these emotions fully wee create space for these feelings be transmuted through us, rather than getting stuck. these emotions have the power to become direct channels to our higher self.

You can find joy in silence, joy in the present moment, and joy in the simple act of connection with another human soul. In this episode, Shannon and I explore what living in joy looks like, and how we ourselves can bring joy into our everyday life, rather than seeking it from  others.

Highlights

  • You will learn what it looks like to choose joy every single day and live in love no matter what challenges you might be facing.
  • How to choose unity, connection, and compassion to rise above self-doubt and fear.
  • Shannon shares how she overcame an eating disorder, harmful drug addiction, and emotional pain to live a life of authenticity connected to spirit.
  • How to use these trying times of Covid-19 to completely transform your life and choose a new reality beyond anything you could ever imagine.
  • Why following your heart is always the right decision and how to co-create your dreams alongside the universe.
  • How you can become a beacon of joy for others and share your light with the world.

When you realise that you can be the creator of your own destiny and happiness, that is when you can fully step into your power and live a life of limitless possibilities. I hope this episode gives you the confidence and the tools to help you go out and live in love.

You Are the Medicine with Emma Cannon

You Are the Medicine with Emma Cannon

Welcome to an extraordinary episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast with my soul sister, transformation partner, medicine woman, and beautiful best friend, Emma Cannon. It was an absolute joy to be able to sit down and record this episode with such an incredible healer, and the insights that I gained from our conversation were profoundly transformative, and I hope they will be for you as well.

Emma Cannon is a Master Acupuncturist in her field of fertility and has helped hundreds if not thousands of women get pregnant in circumstances where they were told that wasn’t possible. She’s opened up doorways for life to be born for SO MANY WOMEN.

She is also a medicine woman and wise teacher, and I am privileged to have her as my friend.

Today’s episode is something special as Emma recently received the terrible news that her breast cancer had returned and since then she has been on a journey of treatment and healing and awakening. Not only was Emma told that her cancer had returned, but she was also made aware that it had spread to her brain. There was a time this year where we thought she only had a few weeks to live.

And in true Emma Cannon way, she has faced it with such courage and power, navigating through the whole process as if it were a medicine and transformational process. Hearing Emma teach and speak about Surrender is worthwhile for anyone to hear.
She has so much wisdom to share, and I am so grateful she allowed me the chance to sit with her.

In this episode, Emma is sharing it all. Her heart and vulnerability, her wisdom, and what it means to surrender and let go of who we think we are to come home to our highest self.

Highlights

  • Emma shares what it truly means to surrender and let go of what you think your life was meant to look like so that you can embrace what is.
  • Why letting go of our physical appearance is a brave and necessary step to personal evolution.
  • How we are the medicine and healing that we so desperately seek and how out of illness and facing her own mortality, she felt more alive than ever.
  • Through illness and having her cancer return, Emma was able to heal childhood wounds and fears. She learned to let go and receive and allow others to hold her.
  • Why accepting help isn’t a sign of weakness, but a sign of immense strength and courage.
  • We speak about what medicine truly is from both a western perspective and a more spiritual perspective and how embracing chemotherapy with love allowed Emma to heal deeply by being one with the medicine.

This week’s episode shows you that everything can be medicine and how you are the medicine you so desperately seek. Emma’s courage, heart, and wisdom are on full magnificent display in this episode, and her friendship is the medicine I never knew I needed.

I hope this podcast can give you strength in difficult situations and help you find that medicine that already exists inside of you to help you heal and grow.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Healing Blocks to Intimacy

Healing Blocks to Intimacy

Nicky Clinch | Soul Surgery: Healing Block to Intimacy Show Notes

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

This week I am sharing a peek behind the curtain at one of the most transformative coaching sessions I have had the pleasure to facilitate. My lovely client Sarah came to me struggling with creating and maintaining relationships. She was always able to connect with people initially and be that fun and sparkly person others loved to be around. However, when people tried to move beyond the surface and develop meaningful relationships, she pushed them away.

In this session, we get to the root of Sarah’s issues and why she is so afraid to be her authentic self with others. Being vulnerable and open requires a great deal of courage, and when you have experiences in your past where you’ve been rejected, it can lead you to put a wall up.

The truth is that without vulnerability, real relationships can’t form.  Vulnerability is showing up as your flawed and wounded self, still knowing that you are entirely worthy of affection and love.  It’s what takes relationships beyond the surface level and builds a sense of trust between two people and relationships can’t thrive without it.

Letting people in puts us in a scary position, and that is why Sarah pulls back when she feels people are getting too close to seeing her authentic self. It requires a great deal of bravery because pain and rejection in relationships are inevitable, but it’s a part of being human.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of leading with your heart, having immense courage and embracing vulnerability as a necessary and beautiful part of relationships.

Highlights

  • Why we fear vulnerability and how to approach relationships with courage and authenticity.
  • While there are people in this world who will reject you when you reveal your true self,  it says more about them than you.
  • We can’t heal something that we can’t see or aren’t aware of and how that awareness can help you heal and dissolve the pain.
  • Why meaningful relationships require us to let down our walls and let other people in, even when it’s terrifying, and we fear rejection.
  • The risk of friendship and intimacy is to reveal your true self with all of your flaws and scars and wounded inner child pain and allow others to see you fully.
  • Why the vulnerability we try desperately to avoid is the key to successful relationships.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode and holding space for Sarah to step into her power. This work is never easy, but it is so incredibly worth it.

As always, I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Breakdowns to Breakthroughs

Breakdowns to Breakthroughs

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here.

This week I am speaking about a topic I have had much personal experience with and also believe to be a truly transformational part of the process. Hitting rock bottom.  Now you may think I’m the Queen of Doom and Gloom but I promise I am not.  There is such gold that can come through in a breakdown; as we are humbled, our ego begins to dissolve more, we are in the alive active process of surrender… and THAT is when real transformation becomes possible.

In this episode, together, we’ll explore how it's possible to use these low points in your life as a way to move from having a breakdown to a breakthrough.

Many aspects of our life are dissolving right now. To be truthful this is how it is in all of life as you simply cannot have life without death. Death and rebirth, breakdown to breakthrough, endings and beginnings, love and loss. To truly live we must be willing to welcome both as they are both sides of the same coin. The one constant in life is change and so how do we need to shift our relationship with this in order to learn to flow with the changes rather than resist them?

And so with this year being all about dissolving, dismantling, letting go and change I speak in this episode about how we can use these moments as pivotal opportunities for growth,  healing and transformation. You’ll uncover that disintegration and breakdowns are a part of the healing process, allowing you to dissolve what once was so that the new may grow.

This is how your soul continues to evolve. This is how you welcome new possibilities into your life.

Highlights

  • We discuss why old ways of being must dissolve for new possibilities to grow.
  • Why living in the unknown and a place of despair can be necessary for us to mature and reach the next step of our lives.
  • When we as human beings are in this pit of despair, we must learn to stop avoiding it and instead sit with it and let it be.
  • Why death is a natural and beautiful part of life and how we can change our relationship to it.
  • When we invite the possibility of holding death as a part of life we can hold space for our despair as part of our healing.
  • Why we must allow ourselves to feel the actual depth of our feelings to move through the rock bottom phases of our life and be reborn.

Thank you so much for listening to this episode. I am so proud of you for being committed to doing the work and moving through difficult times with grace and a desire for growth.

Break Free of Any Addiction

Break Free of Any Addiction

Nicky Clinch | Soul Surgery: Gabor Maté Show Notes

Welcome to an extraordinary episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am joined this week for a powerful soul-filled conversation with the incredible Dr Gabor Maté. He is a world-renowned speaker and bestselling author and is highly sought after for his expertise on a range of topics including addiction, stress, and childhood development.

Gabor does not merely offer quick-fix solutions to these complex issues. Instead of offering quick-fix solutions to these types of complex problems, he instead offers his insights and experience to present a broad perspective that enlightens and empowers people to heal themselves.

In this episode, we speak about how childhood trauma is at the root of all addictive behaviours and how you can heal yourself of addiction by addressing the underlying trauma.

As a recovered addict myself, it never sat well with me this narrative of “once an addict always an addict,” and I was lucky enough to have a therapist who encouraged me to explore this feeling deeper. Gabor and I bonded over our shared belief that addiction isn’t a life sentence that we have to carry with us forever. We can heal it.

Through his years of research, Gabor discovered and saw very clearly that at the root of every single addict he’d ever met was childhood trauma and emotional pain.

We dive deep into these roots of addiction and how addicts are not just people who use heroin or abuse alcohol. Addiction is rifled through our western living today, and we discuss how to heal the world from this collective disconnect we must first heal ourselves.

Highlights

  • How childhood trauma is at the root of all addiction and how that trauma changes our neural programming to shift our perception of the world.
  • Learn what you are trying to gain or the emotions you are trying to manifest from addictive, and how you can healthily meet those needs.
  • Why addiction is not some disease of the “other,” and how it can show up in any of our lives regardless of social class or financial status.
  • Why compassion must be the foundation for healing trauma and addiction.
  • We discuss why trauma is not what happens to you, but what happens inside you as the result of what happens to you.
  • How trauma impacts brain development and how to rewire your brain to heal for good.
  • Why the classic addiction treatment model needs to shift towards focusing more intensely on healing trauma.
  • Why healing the planet must start with healing ourselves.

Thank you so much for listening to this profoundly insightful episode that I had the pleasure of recording alongside my dear friend Dr Gabor Maté.

I hope that this message helps you break free from the stigma surrounding addiction and allows you to bring a bit more compassion into your healing. Addiction does not have to be a lifelong struggle, and I hope this episode has allowed you to see that.

Nobody is above addiction, and nobody is safe from its grasp as long as unhealed trauma is present within us.

I would love to hear any aha moments you have had after listening to this episode. I adore it when you send me your breakthrough moments. It’s so exciting to hear how these episodes are changing lives.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes, and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Racism inside of me and you

Racism inside of me and you

Nicky Clinch | Soul Surgery: Episode 5

Solo Episode - Racism Inside of You and Me

Welcome to a very special SOLO episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast. I am honoured to have you here. In this week’s episode, I will be sharing my own journey of recognising and addressing the racism and oppression that lived inside of me for far too long.

The racism that I had been directing towards my own brown skin without even being aware of it.

This is such an important topic, and I understand that I could never possibly understand the full weight of the oppression and violence that BIPOC experience in the world every single day as a white-passing woman.

However, I felt called to share my own story as a half-cast brown skinned woman and how  my own whiteness and privilege had blinded my own view.  That the work in healing racism and oppression in our world begins when we are willing to look deep inside of our own selves.

If we are going to heal our planet, let it begin with you and me.

Racism is a symptom of trauma. A symptom of the parts within ourselves that have been conditioned to reject and separate  by white patriarchy. And it is insidiously present within any one of us that gets to live in this world as a ‘chosen one’.

It’s not just someone putting a knee on the neck of a black man. It’s how we see and think of ourselves and others.

It’s the conditioning within us that teaches us that those of privilege, those who can get away with atrocious acts without consequences, are the chosen ones.

It’s a symptom of the condition that has caused us to behave and try and prove that we are better than another, but it’s not who we are. If we are going to heal the separation and the oppression on this planet, we must heal how we are turning that oppression on ourselves first so we no longer  project it into the world.

Highlights

  • You will learn to identify how you might subconsciously be harbouring racist or oppressive thoughts towards yourself or others.
  • How racism is a symptom of the trauma and white ancestral pain and how it took hold in this world to create more separation than ever.
  • I discuss my journey and awakening to the realisation that I and my ancestors had been racist against our own brown skin and how I worked on healing from that trauma wound of my mother’s oppression.
  • The tools I have been using to educate myself more on the systematic oppression of people of colour and why being an ally is not enough.
  • How ancestral wounds can affect your life and where to start to heal.
  • The ways you can hold space for yourself and create a compassionate experience as you work through these feelings.
  • How to bring healing, awareness, and radical responsibility to those areas of racism and oppression within yourself so that you may participate in the healing of separation in the world.

This week’s message is incredibly powerful and so necessary right now to discuss, as uncomfortable as it can be, the work to undo and heal racism in the world starts with you and me.

Dissolve the Fear of Being Seen - Coaching Session

Nicky Clinch | Soul Surgery: Episode 4

1:1 Coaching Session with Ali- Fear of Being Seen

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am so thrilled to share this episode with you where I pull back the curtain and share an inside look at what actually takes place in my 1:1 coaching sessions. This episode was incredibly transformative and you get to witness some of the live breakthroughs and aha moments that took place for Ali who’s struggled with big waves of shame and terror whenever she is really seen.

This pattern has blocked Ali’s ability to share her voice, experience intimacy and make choices and decisions aligned with what she wants and believes. So it was SO important to help her transform this so she can truly begin aligning with her truth, her worth and fulfilling her purpose and dreams.

Living like this is debilitating and trying to make decisions based on the opinions of others, not based on your inner truth and wisdom is painful.  In this session, you will see and hear how our experiences from childhood directly impact our ability to trust ourselves, creating an internal conflict between the head and the heart.  Literally FREEZING you and shutting you down.

When we can heal and dissolve the root of trauma, we shift the entire space we stand in our life, re-aligning us with who we were born to be.

Highlights

  • How childhood trauma contaminates how we experience life today.
  • How the unresolved wounds repeatedly play out in the body and mind until the root trauma is healed.
  • What fear and shame are often connected to and how it blocks our ability to trust our intuition.
  • The best way to start listening to and trusting your inner wisdom and intuition again.
  • Why patterns keep showing up in different ways in our lives and how to finally break free.
  • How to talk to your inner child to create and establish safety and the ability to trust yourself.
  • The way you can finally change your relationship to uncomfortable feelings so that they no longer keep you stuck and how to approach triggers when they come up.
  • Change the way you approach the same situations that trigger you to rewire your brain and create new neural pathways to truly heal and change the way you show up in the world.

Thank you so much for listening to my first coaching session episode, I am so excited to finally be able to take you behind the scenes of what it looks like to participate in 1:1 coaching with me.

I hope that this message of learning to trust yourself again and show up as your most authentic self free from fear and shame resonates deeply within you.

Meet yourself with utmost love and compassion wherever you are in your maturation process.

It is a lifelong process, you don’t suddenly reach a point where you are healed, and triggers don’t affect you anymore. I still get triggered sometimes!

The difference is the awareness you bring to the situation, and how you watch those feelings of discomfort move through you, so you don’t get lost in the story. When you decide to not make those feelings a part of your reality, they can flow through you and leave.

That is the beauty of this work. I hope you enjoy this episode and I would love to hear any aha moments it inspires for you!

Please leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.

Freedom from Suffering

Freedom from Suffering

Soul Surgery Podcast | Episode 3

Solo Episode - Freedom from Suffering

Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery Podcast, I am honoured to have you here. This week’s episode is a SOLO episode, my first one since launching this podcast and I hope you enjoy our time together as much as I loved recording this for you!

In this episode I share with you all what it truly means to achieve freedom from suffering and how you need to be willing to get UNCOMFORTABLE in order to break free.

All people when asked if they want to be free will of course say a resounding “YES”, but nobody truly understands what is required.

We are commonly conditioned to resist, fix or escape the human experiences that rise within us in an attempt to be happy or feel better, whilst striving to fit the pictures in our minds of who we  SHOULD be and how we SHOULD feel.  But running from our experiences is the very root to enormous suffering.

It’s so easy to create an entire life and identity searching for that ONE THING that will make us feel whole and worthy of love. But in doing so we are rejecting who we are, where we are and how we feel right now creating a deeper cavern of unworthiness.

I make the bold statement in this episode that 100% of our suffering comes from our rejection and our resistance to the human experience we are having in the present.

In this episode

Highlights

  • You will learn what it truly takes to achieve FREEDOM from SUFFERING in your life.
  • Learn the two main ways that we as human beings deal with challenges or pain and how to find a better way.
  • Figure out how to get comfortable with uncertainty so that you may live in the present moment without trying to change anything.
  • You will realise why we as humans are so scared of uncertainty and prefer to live in a fantasy land inside of our minds as a way to escape.
  • Why escapism is the most intoxicating drug of all.
  • How to allow feelings to move through you instead of creating a narrative about why you are experiencing these certain emotions.
  • Learn why pain is inevitable but suffering is optional.

Thank you so much for listening to my first SOLO episode, it was a true joy recording it for you and I hope you find this message rich and meaningful.

Learning to be comfortable with uncertainty is perhaps the most challenging thing we as humans can do in this life and I applaud you for learning more about how to do so with love and compassion for yourself.

You are enough, you have always been enough and I hope this podcast can be a stepping stone on your road to transformation.

I would be so grateful if you could leave a review on iTunes and we can share this message of healing and wholeness with as many people as possible.
