Here we are, lockdown 2.0! As in the Spring we will be releasing a weekly podcast service during the time we cannot meet in person and this week Angela leads us with Nicola sharing some thoughts on this Remembrance Sunday. We'll also be having get togethers on Zoom, do get in touch for the details to join in with that.

As I was preparing for 'in person' church this week I decided to record my sermon for those of you who aren't able to make it. Here it is, I hope you enjoy!

Have you ever wondered what the Christian faith is all about but you weren't sure where to start? In this episode I give a very brief history of the Christian faith, where it came from and what it is like today. I then discuss three values of Christianity that, for me, are at it's heart - love, forgiveness and hope. Do get in touch if you have any questions, enjoy!

Today we continue to think about the story of Jacob from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament. Jacob during his life was renamed 'Israel' - which means 'one who struggles with God'. What does it mean to struggle or wrestle with God and what can we take away from Jacob's story for our own journey? Brenda leads us in prayer and we have a new contribution from our music group. Today we think about Jesus' parables, particularly his parables about the Kingdom of God.  Brenda leads us in a reflection and Nicola leads us in prayers. 

Today we think about a parable that Jesus told about wheat and weeds and reflect on the character of Jacob from the Old Testament. Angela, our new curate, leads us in our reflections and Brenda leads us in prayer. We are also meeting together at St Mary's today (Sunday 19th July) at 11.30am. Today on Thatcham Voices we have the great pleasure of hearing from our Mayor Councillor Mike Cole. Mike shares his own experience of lockdown life and what the council have been doing, through their band of volunteers, to support the community in Thatcham.

This week for our Sunday service we think about Jesus' famous words 'come to me all who are weary, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light'. Brenda leads us in a reflection on these words and Alison leads us in prayer. This week we tackle the controversial but iconic story of the sacrifice of Isaac from the book of Genesis in the Old Testament. This story has perplexed and amazed generations of scholars and people of faith so we're going to have a bit of a think about what we might draw from it today. We also spend some time praying and enjoying another beautiful arrangement by our music group. Thanks for joining!

I give you a basic bio of Jesus' life followed by three things that for me make Jesus such a fascinating and compelling figure. We finish off with some book recommendations for you to explore.
