The Breakfast Club: National Side Chick Day
National Side Chick Day is not on any official registries, and there’s a bit of back-and-forth on whether to celebrate the day on Feb. 13 or Feb. 15, but the sentiment is always the same: get romantic time in with your main person, or spouse, on Valentine’s Day and then catch up with your side piece the day before or after. This is some BS but the reality is, people cheat. People will make up anything they can to have their cake and eat it too.  In the liberal spirit of egalitarianism, we can drop the “chick” and call it National Side Piece Day. It’d be sexist to assume a woman can’t have a midnight friend, or that an undercover boyfriend isn’t seeking lavish appreciation. If you feel great about being a side chick....shame on you. Step your game up and find your own man.  Make sure you share this episode, it may help the side chick back up. Thank you for listening. OWN Networks “Ready To Love” Star Courtney Larisa: Watch The Reunion Special on 12/29
Watch full episodes, clips and extras -  http://www.oprah.com/app/ready-to-love.html Courtney Larisa, flight attendant by day and soul surfer in her free time, joined the cast of OWN Networks newest series, Ready to Love. Larisa said that she wanted to test the waters and see if she could find her perfect match. However, she didn’t learn about the rules to the dating hoopla until the first day of filming. Ready to love is an unscripted dating series from a male perspective. "Ready to Love" features successful black men and women in their 30s and 40s as they go through the steps of courtship. These men and women are looking for everlasting love. The men bring their observations and experiences to the forefront as they search for true love. Thomas "Nephew Tommy" Miles hosts the show.  Courtney Larisa is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Nevertheless, while filming Ready to Love, she was stationed in Atlanta, Georgia, because of her full-time gig with the airline. The 37-year-old is a credit restoration’s professional, who works closely with real estate agents to help first time buyers purchase their homes. She got into the business about 11 years ago. Courtney wanted to buy a triplex, but she had terrible credit. At the time, she was engaged to be married. Even though her credit wasn’t the best, her beau had A1 credit. Before they could finish the process, her fiancé pulled out of the deal, which crushed Larisa’s vision of owning the multiplex. She is a driven person to helping others with their credit, and soon, we hope she will be back on NikiMarie Radio to help our listeners understand the importance of credit, and find solutions to fix the economy, one credit lesson at a time. Stay tuned for more from Courtney on NikiMarie Radio.  Follow Courtney on Instagram: @iamcourtneylarisa For bookings email: mnsmediagroup@gmail.com

Entrepreneurial Thursday: Live With The CEO Of TkACTN LLC/Recording Artist/Songwriter
Many artists in today’s music scene struggle to not only establish themselves as great entertainers, but allow their peak of success to stabilize them as only that, and not venture on the path of a mogul. One of the few that embodies both traits is Hip-Hop Artist & Songwriter, ShotofADRENALIN! With as much energy as his name entails, he’s set out to leave a throbbing mark in music while creating a legacy as a business man who knows the music industry inside and out. “I don’t want to be known just as a rapper, but a force that shifted the culture forward every time I touched a microphone." Penning his first song at 9 years old, his influences included Nas, Biggie, Michael Jackson and DMX among others. Watching gifted artists like these, sparked a fire in ADRENALIN. That same spark has pushed him to be in full command of his craft, identity and music. Growing up on the dividing line of cultural class in Long Island, NY, he experienced the effects of living in low, middle & high class communities. Ultimately, he took those lessons & turned them into relatable content which can appeal to the masses. Since then, he’s gained notoriety for his lively stage presence and equally vibrant lyrical content. Enabling him to grace a multitude of stages, release a number of singles including his debut project For Better or Worse, and even create the theme song for his alma mater, Berkeley College. As he continues to evolve as an artist, he’s able to share those experiences while presenting his versatility, depth and appreciation for the art form. You’d be hard pressed to not feel his presence either in person or through your speakers. Website: http://www.shotofadrenalin.com/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shotofadrenalin/

Donte Savage Talks About NFL Career & Being An Entrepreneur
Founder & CEO of Prolinked http://prolinked.net My name is Donte Savage. I’m originally from Northeast Portland and grew up on Dekum St. I was raised by Albert Savage Jr. and Jamie Savage and am the youngest of three siblings. I had a rough up bringing due to issues in my household. For a long period of time, my father was addicted to drugs and alcohol, which brought a lot of stress on our family. My mother is a strong woman and kept everything together as best as she could. She always pushed me to be great and do great things with my life. My father always told me that education was the key to anything. I was a pretty shy kid until you got to know me. I spent my time as a kid playing sports and hanging out with my cousins. When I was a kid, I used football as my outlet to deal with all the things I saw at home. From the first day I played, I fell in love with the game. I knew I wanted to play professionally when I got older. I pushed myself daily to be the best player I could be. After high school, I landed a scholarship to Fork Union Military Prep School and then a full ride college scholarship to New Mexico State University. After college I played for the Green Bay Packers, in addition to a number of other semi-pro leagues. It struct me, toward the end of my football career, that I may not get to play football for the rest of my life and would eventually need to find a way to make a living. I knew, whatever I did, I didn’t want to work for anybody else and I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. I got to thinking about how hard it was for me to get into college, play for the NFL, ect. It is a long and rough road to get teams and coaches to notice you when you don’t have the right resources and the right people in your corner. One morning, while a free agent, I was at the house with my fiancé and got the idea to create a business to help other free agent athletes in my position. I told her “I’m going to make a website and app to help free agent athletes” and she said “make it happen”. That is when I sat down and started working on my idea for Prolinked. I began by making an idea board with my girl. I then got on google and taught myself how to make a business plan. It took me two days to get everything done. From there things started to fall into place. ProLinked is a social media site for players, trainers, agents, scouts, and coaches that connects everyone and helps find opportunities all over the world, for all sports. My app caters to Football, Basketball, soccer and baseball. There are so many recruiting sites that are just for one sport, so I wanted to be different. I want to help people who are in the sports industry or wanting to get in the sports industry to get noticed all over the world.

Syleena Johnson: Grammy-Nominated Singer, Songwriter, Actress & TV Host on Sister Circle
Syleena Johnson's highly anticipated book shares her compelling journey toward self-love and discovery, while chronicling her battles with body image birthed in adolescence and carried throughout her music career. An ode to obstacles faced and conquered, this self-help book sets an indelible tone for reflection, resurgence, and redemption. Syleena Johnson is one of those undeniable talents whose unfaltering truth shines through every note she sings. Undoubtedly one of the best singers of her generation, Johnson has collaborated with everyone from Kanye West and Common to Anthony Hamilton and R. Kelly. In recent years she has enjoyed mainstream exposure appearing on such television shows as TV One’s “R&B Divas: Atlanta” and WE TV’s “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” and as of September 18, 2017 Syleena is featured on the new TEGNA Media/ TV One daily live talk show “Sister Circle.” On November 10, 2017 Shanachie Entertainment will release REBIRTH OF SOUL, a recording that Syleena has long wanted to bring to fruition. Conceived and produced by her father, the legendary soul/blues singer and producer Syl Johnson, whose original hit version of “Take Me To The River” was covered by Al Green and Talking Heads. Everyone from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Wu-Tang and Usher has sampled Syl Johnson’s recordings. REBIRTH OF SOUL features Syleena Johnson’s searing interpretations of classic R&B songs, mainly from the Fifties and Sixties, recorded in real time with live musicians just the way “real music” used to be made. As Syl Johnson notes,“people don’t use live musicians much anymore; but every musician brings his heart to a recording.” Recording in Chicago, Syl Johnson’s long-time base and Syleena’s hometown, the sessions include musicians who played on hit R&B recordings there over the years and a majority of the album features songs associated with Chicago artists, songwriters or record labels. Syleena shares, “The inspiration behind REBIRTH OF SOUL is my father. I wanted to honor him and classic soul music in a time when auto tune and electronic beats reign supreme. While I am not against this kind of creative musicianship, there is so much more to the real thing. True Soul music tells stories…stories that can heal a nation.” As an artist who came of age during the 90’s hip-hop era and broke through in the early 2000’s, Syleena had never actually recorded live in the studio previously. “The difference with this album,” Syleena relates, “ is that I had the opportunity to record with live instrumentation as well as actual musicians from the (classic) era. On this album I didn’t write any of the songs and it was the first time in a while that I worked with my father. I had to tap into the soul and spirit of the era of each song to bring authenticity to the project.” The songs on REBIRTH OF SOUL, hand-picked by Syl Johnson, run the gamut from lesser-known gems such as Betty Everett’s “There’ll Come A Time,” Syl Johnson’s “We Did It” and Bettye Swann’s “Make Me Yours” to such landmark hits as “Chain of Fools” and “I’d Rather Go Blind,” done definitively by Aretha Franklin and Etta James respectively. Syleena manifests an uncanny ability to get inside of each song, digging deep to deliver passionate performances that bring a fresh spark to even the best known selections. “For each song I channeled the emotions of the record,” Syleena confides. “I put myself in the mind of each storyteller and in doing this I was able to merge myself into the story of each record. This is how I was able to put my own personal stamp on each record.” "The Weight is Over" is now available through Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HRQM89Z/ https://www.syleenamusic.com http://www.sheleanlife.com Social media @syleenajohnson *Thank you Syleena for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with me. Many blessings to you; I hope to work with you again soon. Warmest Regards, NikiMarie @nikimarie_radio (IG)

Boris L Henson Foundation: Tracie Jade Jenkins
Thank you for tuning in. This is Ep. 1 for Season 2. Please listen to the phone interview that I had with Tracie Jenkins. She is the Executive Director for the Boris L Henson Foundation. She is also shares 35 years of friendship with the Founder, Taraji P. Henson. The Boris Lawerence Henson Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2018 by Taraji P. Henson and led by Executive Director, Tracie Jade Jenkins. The foundation is named in honor of Ms. Henson’s father, Boris Lawrence Henson, who suffered with mental health challenges as a result of his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. A Letter from the Founder Each of us at some point in our lives, has pondered God’s purpose for us. After much prayer and discernment, I truly believe I’ve found mine, The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation. Our work will focus on eradicating the stigma around mental health issues in the African-American community. This means everything to me. I named the organization after my father because of his complete and unconditional love for me; his unabashed, unashamed ability to tell the truth, even if it hurt; and his strength to push through his own battles with mental health issues. My dad fought in The Vietnam War for our country, returned broken, and received little to no physical and emotional support. I stand in his absence, committed to offering support to African Americans who face trauma daily, simply because they’re black. BLHF is breaking the silence by speaking out and encouraging others to share their challenges with mental illness and get the help they need. African-Americans have regarded such communication as a sign of weakness and our vision is to change that perception. I ask you to join me on this journey. This is our legacy. This is our chance to make a difference. Together, we will break the silence and break the cycle! -Love, Taraji P. Henson

I Am More Than A Hashtag
What happened to me, has happened to millions of girls around the world. I am no different with how I feel. But that is how I felt. It does not define me nor does it make me weak. I stand with you #MeToo. I may not agree all the time but I understand why you stand together. Don’t allow your past to cloud your judgment. Let’s heal and protect the next generation of young girls so it doesn’t happen to them. I want them to be more than a hashtag. I want them to be powerful, confident, beautiful inside and out, and divine. I want them to respect themselves and know that they deserve respect no matter what.

Caller Opinion - R.Kelly
We are human with different opinions, beliefs, and feelings. I am a writer, and I may fall but my writing and my words come from a place of love and living. I don’t agree with Robert Kelly, and I believe he needs help but I cannot deny whatever gift he was blessed to have. I believe our voices are powerful, however; we choose to live is not mine to judge. I will not stop listening to R.Kelly. The songs that are played on Anchor are just some of the songs written by R.Kelly. If you turn on the radio, it may not be his voice but check the credits. You can’t stop listening to all of the music written or produced by R.Kelly; if so, you may need to stop listening to the radio.
