What should and what shouldn’t we change when revising a colleague’s translation?
We all hate it when revisers change our translations unnecessarily. But what if we're protesting too much? Isn't it time we became more client-focused rather than translator-focused in our revision approach? We discussed this topic in the hosted session of the Group Translation Chats in November 2020.
Do translations only have to be good enough?
What does good enough mean to you?
Do you apply that definition in your work?
Does applying this definition make you feel guilty?
Members of the Group Translation Chats (GTC) discussed the answers to these questions in a hosted session. This is my reading of the write-up I did of this chat for my blog, My Words for a Change.
