What happens when Rastafari culture meets Human Design? Introducing Gilbert Simpson

What happens when Rastafari culture meets Human Design? Introducing Gilbert Simpson

Gilbert Simpson met Human Design a little over a year ago via a mystical experience that involved a dreaming of the bodygraph before he knew what it was. Naturally inquisitive, he followed his intuitive guidance which led him to meeting Ra Uru Hu, the founder of Human Design via Youtube. Discovering his design offered Gil affirmation about his very nature and enhanced his ongoing journey toward self empowerment, mastery and creation. This 5/1 emotional Manifestor from Costa Rica is a musician, digital marketer and mentor who experiences a profound sense of joy and peace living a free life in alignment with his unique Human Design. In this episode Gil shares how he discovered Human Design, how it's supported his personal evolution and we learn about the correlations behind this school of thought and Rastafari culture. Gil even sings a Bob Marley number for us!

Discovering grace in life's ups and downs

Discovering grace in life's ups and downs

Caitlin Smith has known about Human Design for a little while now, but discovered a deep resonance with it relatively recently. This emotional 3/5 Generator has weathered vastness in her life experience, coloured by emotional depth and a strong relationship to her intuitive responses. Her experimental journey has led her to living her dharma as a solopreneur providing personalized, guided meditations to her community. Inspired by the wonder of her natural surroundings in North-east Oregon, she trusts life to pulse through her - whether it's being open to receiving and delivering the gift of guidance in the meditations she creates, the coffee tonic recipes she shares or the inherent zest she has for living purposefully. She'll be the first to tell you that arriving at this place was not without pain, struggle and heartache, but without these experiences, she'll also tell you she wouldn't have discovered grace for her process or the depth of gratitude she has for the life she's built now. In this episode, Nikki offers commentary on how the aspects Caitlin shares of her journey relate to the inherent energies of her Human Design.

The cost of men being out of integrity: A mens coach's view

The cost of men being out of integrity: A mens coach's view

As we experience a global slow-down, there's no better time to envision how we can impact the evolution of humanity in this next chapter. We know that if if great change is to be made in our lives, we have to start with ourselves first. Mike Campbell, Australian-based mens coach is passionate about challenging the narrative around "masculinity" and what it means to exist as a man in integrity in our world today. From sharing his own experiences that led him into deep self enquiry and ultimately the work he does, Mike delivers insights around some of the key areas where men (and women) are disconnected, and how this impacts relationship. He sheds light onto the differences between how men and women process problems and communicate and how in understanding and embracing these differences, the feminine and masculine can co-exist harmoniously.

A great episode for men, inviting them to use this time to dive inward and also excellent for women, who can better understand what drives the masculine energy in their person.

Facts NOT Fear: Relating to Coronavirus... and Friends

Facts NOT Fear: Relating to Coronavirus... and Friends

Bram Levinson is a yoga and meditation teacher, acclaimed author of two books, coach & mentor and the host of The Examined Life podcast. Bram's introspective nature and irreverent perspective toward human constructs and systems is humorous as hell and grounded in yogic philosophy. In today's episode, Bram and Nikki discuss fear and how it manifests individually and collectively, particularly at the moment with the spotlight on Coronavirus, which has been deemed a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. Bram suggests the anxiety toward potentially contracting COVID-19 is an opportunity to re-examine our relationship to fear itself and whether or not we are taking full agency in designing our lives to be what we want it to be. This conversation provokes us to wonder; how do we choose to show up in times of stress? And why are we allowing perspective and humanity to fly out the window? Bram sees this current pandemic as a wake-up call for us all, listen in to discover why.

Gender fluidity, plant medicine & the essence of entrepreneurship

Gender fluidity, plant medicine & the essence of entrepreneurship

It’s so fun to talk about topics society has deemed taboo. Jay Win was born in Burma and always resented the patriarchy there. She speaks openly about her experience with gender fluidity and sexuality and the awkward dinner conversation that was had when she came out to her parents. Jay is light, reverent, funny, honest and together with Nikki Jae, they dive into curly topics ranging from moving countries, the healing benefits of regular meditation, mental illness, plant medicine and entrepreneurship. Jay recently founded the IOS application Bagation, a service for travellers to Australia looking for a safe place to store their luggage. Everyone is on their own path and this is a slice of Jay Win’s journey.

This episode has a trigger warning for its content discusses mental illness.

As Above, So Below: Connecting Past Traumas to Present Responses (Plus Oracle Reading)

As Above, So Below: Connecting Past Traumas to Present Responses (Plus Oracle Reading)

It's easy to think, "that happened so long ago, it can't possibly be impacting me now!" Whether it's a small childhood trauma, big adolescent wound or you never quite healed from your first boyfriend or girlfriend cheating on you - past, un-processed hardships are stored in the body and can cause us to respond in some potentially unhelpful ways in the present. Ashley Berry is a healer from Ojai California and her work involves the use of a variety of modalities to support her own healing and that of others. As a young girl, Ashley was forced to grow up quickly upon experiencing pervasive trauma in the home. Her formative years led her down a path of great understanding, spiritual growth and cultivating strong and meaningful ties to her community. Pain and suffering is the great equalizer and so often the fastest route to becoming self actualized. The grace and humility with which Ashley shares her story is nothing short of touching.

What It's Like to Have a Malignant Narcissist for a Father

What It's Like to Have a Malignant Narcissist for a Father

In this personally revealing episode, Nikki shares some of her experiences being the only child of a malignant narcissist - her father.
Carving out her own path in life has gone hand in hand with healing from the emotional and psychological trauma caused by her relationship to him.
The aftermath of her traumas has involved, at different times, dealing with Complex-PTSD, depression, anxiety, hypervigilance, a pervasive sense of toxic shame, emotional flashbacks and often a feeling of going crazy.
Nobody should ever feel alone in their response to trauma and this type in particular can be wrapped in secrecy.
After engaging in a wide variety of healing modalities in a bid to integrate disowned parts of her self - and most recently having her Akashic records read - Nikki felt deeply compelled on a soul level to shed light on some of the darker parts of her story, in the hope of increasing awareness of malignant narcissistic abuse and its impact.
It is her intention this episode reaches those who most need to hear it.

Personifying Objects in Art: What Do Your Things Say About You?

Personifying Objects in Art: What Do Your Things Say About You?

Canadian artist Libby Oliver is fascinated with objects as a form of communication. Her photography begs the question: What do our things reveal about our humanity? Libby's latest series called Soft Shells was exhibited at Musée de la civilisation in Quebec, Canada last summer and garnered media attention from The Guardian, CBC and many other outlets. Libby sat down with Nikki Jae at a busy, Brixton cafe at the end of last August to ponder questions about identity, how "things" communicate to us and the synergy that exists between our personal expression and the material world. Perhaps most importantly, this conversation reveals that all people are extraordinarily multi-dimensional and it is with the acceptance of this knowledge that we, as a collective, can begin transcending our own judgements towards others and hopefully heal the "us against them" mentality that permeates media messaging and our way of being in this world.

Screw the Details, Not All Dreams Need 'em to Come True

Screw the Details, Not All Dreams Need 'em to Come True

There are a plethora of high performance coaches, motivators and gurus banging on about how necessary it is to get specific about your goals and dreams so you can deconstruct them into actionable steps. Here's the thing, for some people, that's super effective, but guess what, not all of us are designed to operate this way. According to Human Design, some of us are created with a non-specific way of manifesting our dreams and desires. I am one of these people. I may have clarity around what I want, but I cannot describe it in explicit detail and that doesn't make me any less of an effective pursuer of my dreams. In today's episode, I talk about my mantra for the year LAISSEZ FAIRE, and how letting go of a specific outcome can in fact create space for something even better to manifest. It can be a hard notion to swallow, for we are so conditioned to work and hustle and plan for the future. But, if you can suspend your reptilian brain for just a moment, you might just see how life can truly surprise us in some very unexpected, yet aligned ways. I talk about how I quickly manifested access to a cabin in The Catskills last year in response to a soul yearning and how injecting positive consciousness into our actions will result in our desired outcomes. I also share a little update about the Australian bushfires and my connection to them. And for the month of January, 25% of all Human Design readings will be going to Australia's national wildlife rescue organisation WIRES. You can also head to www.wires.org.au to donate. If you'd like to book a Human Design reading with me to discover whether you're a specific or non-specific creator of your dreams, head to www.nikkijae.net to select a time that suits you.

Rock Bottoms + Realizations: This Man's Path to Purpose

Rock Bottoms + Realizations: This Man's Path to Purpose

Nathan Shultz is the founder of Elevate where he offers purpose-driven executive coaching and is also living his best life. He's met His Holiness, The Dalai Lama, continues to traverse the globe following the guidance of his heart, is a certified yoga instructor, facilitates men's groups with Evryman and engages in ecstatic dance. But it wasn't always this way, Nathan spent most of his adult life following the "shoulds" of society until it all came crashing down with an unexpected divorce, the announcement of his father's terminal illness and being fired from his executive, corporate role. It was the brokenness and acknowledgment of dormant emotions that set him free. Nathan talks about how re-examining what it means to be man in today's world underpins his purpose personally and professionally and allows him to live a whole, integrated human experience.

From Drug Dealing to Spiritual Healing

From Drug Dealing to Spiritual Healing

Teri-Ann Carty was 37 when she awoke from an alcohol-fuelled haze, and now, at almost 45, she admits she feels younger and more vibrant than ever. Teri shares her colourful journey moving from a small Ontario town to Toronto to pursue a career as an actress before a dalliance with the rave scene led her to greater heights where the beats of house and techno still echo in her bones. She tells tales of paying off student loans with drug money and the crippling grip alcohol had over her life for more than a decade. Surrendering to a 12-step program saved her from spiralling out of control and meaningfully connected her to a power greater than herself where true healing began. Today, she's a thriving yoga teacher, blogger, vegan foodie and photographer. This one's for the books and a reminder that all of us have the power to change for the better.

Reframing What It Means To Live Well

Good things come to those who risk. Holistic advocate and personal trainer Caitlin Smith admits she never quite felt like she fit within the framework of the familial and societal matrix she was born into. The Messy Truth About Moon Cycles

The Messy Truth About Moon Cycles

Period talk can be a bloody mess (pun intended). While we are making steps toward healthy conversation around menstruation in the current discourse, many women still struggle with this topic; it's been considered taboo for far too long. Communication artist and adviser Nikki Jae gets real with Cheri Johnson, a holistic nutritionist, yoga teacher and doula about the messy reality of the female experience including PCOS and the magic of synching our cycle with the moon.

Welcome to Wild Hearts Club

Welcome to Wild Hearts Club

Hey guys,

Nikki Jae, here.

So, I made a thing!

Well, a podcast to be precise. After spending the better part of a decade working as a news journalist, then deviating into the land of self employment as a content producer and consultant, it feels good to get back to my questioning roots.

Wild Hearts Club is a passion project where I interview people from all walks of life about their path to wholeness by taking aligned action. So often these journeys are messy, they contain opposing truths; but to life fully is to be wild - dancing with the highest highs, lowest lows and everything in between.

In sharing these stories, my hope is that you see parts of yourself reflected back - to know that we’re all in this together. I also hope to encourage more people to embrace their vulnerabilities, see the value in communicating consciously and taking action in their lives from a place of personal power and alignment.

I believe we’re all here for a reason and it sure as hell isn’t to schlep through life, working for the weekend, being something we’re not and accumulating stuff that nobody’s going to give a shit about we when we die.

So tell me, what drives you wild?
