Patrick Kling | How To Break Into The Themed Entertainment Industry, Black Out Tuesday & More

On June 2, 2020 Blackout Tuesday was a collective action against racism and police brutality. The action, originally initiated within the music industry in response to the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. Other industries followed suit to acknowledge the moment. Nickelodeon demonstrated support for the Black Lives Matter movement by going off the air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds and sharing a message about kids' rights. Patrick Kling, The Associate Art Director for Nickelodeon Experience Design decided to take this initiative a step further by going to Twitter and creating the space for individuals to connect with him one on one about how to break into the industry and support.

In this episode, Patrick shares his journey along with some tips, resources, and advice on how to break into the themed entertainment industry.

Not Your Average Culture Lifestyle Topic: Making TheMost Out of Your Waiting Period Hi everyone! This week I decided to cover a topic called the waiting period. The waiting period is the time in between now and the next chapter of your life. It's the little bit of time that feels like forever from transitioning from high school to college, college to career, or maybe even from being in a relationship to being single. I got a chance to sit down with Shantia Morgan, also one of my best friends and discuss how she is making the most out of waiting period and her journey to be a guidance counselor. While pursuing her Master's she experienced some dramatic situations such as losing loved ones and an unexpected lay off. In this episode she shares how she overcame those challenges while still remaining focused on her goal and has created a flexible schedule to help fit her lifestyle.

Now Introducing: Not Your Average Culture (NYAC) Podcast

Now Introducing: Not Your Average Culture (NYAC) Podcast

The very first episode of Not Your Average Culture!

The aim is to break down things we have normalized in the world and reintroduce the various cultures avenues that are accessible to us all. Especially in today’s society where everyone is becoming more consumed with what others are doing online opposed to taking progressive action towards their personal growth and development. I realize this podcast will serve as my testimony as well as encourage others to follow their dreams.

Here are some specific examples of each topic I will cover.

Dating: When it comes to dating it’s always assumed that the guy should ask the woman out.

I want to explore the idea of other ways people can approach dating and expectations from relationships.

Creative: There are some people who believe they have to be born with a special talent such as singing or being athletic in order to have a creative outlet.

I want to share with people new events, ideas, and other interesting things that are occurring
