The Story of Juneteenth:  Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States by  Alliyah Agostini is a beautifully illustrated children's book.  Afriware Books owner Nzingha Nommo had a lively conversation with Ms. Agostini about the inspiration for her book and how she started embracing her calling as a writer.  Since she was raised in Bufallo, NY, she also mentioned how the community was impacted by the recent gun violence at the grocery store she remembered frequenting as a child.

#teachtruth This post was originally made on Afriware Books' owner Nzingha Nommo's facebook page on June 14, 2022 in solidarity with #teachtruth.  #Teachtruth was a call to action by the Zinn Education project to draw attention to historical sites wherever we are that though "uncomfortable" for some, mark important points in our history.  The idea is to make sure information like this is never banned from history books in spite of the desire of some politicians to do so.
