Wider Conversations with Obinna Ekwuno

By Obinna Ekwuno

As we journey through life, we gain experiences. which is great but if we share these experiences we will be able to make another individual's journey even better and more effective. Wider conversations is a podcast where we share experiences with others to help each other out. Maybe at the end of the day, we can get the whole world talking.

On being, rather than seeming: It's a start.

On being, rather than seeming: It's a start.

I have been reading (a lot more recently than I usually do). My most recent read, Letters to a young poet by Rainer Maria Rilke has me doing a lot of introspection as to why I do the things I do in the arts. One of the things I have consciously tried to do in the last few weeks is to indulge my creative urges and explore whenever I get a spore of creativity.

In this episode, I share a few thoughts on "What really drives us to search" and how we must look inwards to manifest the things we want out of life. "Live the questions for now".

The world is yours, Amen.

Giving to the Water

Giving to the Water

This year has been long for me in many ways, but it has also been one of the best years because I learned lessons that have helped shape me into a better version of myself. In this episode, I discuss the year from the angles of Self, Friendship, and hobbies, emphasising the lessons from these places. I hope some of them resonate with you.

My Goals are more feelings than things.

My Goals are more feelings than things.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about what dreams mean to me. What I actually want to be doing versus what I am currently doing. I am fully aware that my dreams are valid and I thought I would share my thoughts on these things. Also, the Off-Season is upon us, it is time to think about what you've always wanted to do. If you let them kill your dreams it will hunt you still.

Moving is Long

Moving is Long

Sometimes I ponder on a lot of things, today it's about the concept of moving and what I have learned. Moving is long, but my soul needs to know peace. It is important to note that growth comes with a lot of realizations and some of them might not be so welcoming but you are put in that place for a reason. Explore and remember to enjoy the process.

2020 - Connecting the dots . . .

2020 - Connecting the dots . . .

In this episode, I talk about 2020 in retrospect with my friend Ore Ogundipe, we really just focus on how the year made us feel and the lessons we got and "plans" (If 2020 taught us anything is that plans should be in the air quotes ) for 2021.
Listen, enjoy, tell your friends.

Dear boys, if you are listening

Dear boys, if you are listening

This episode focuses on the pressures of being a "man" in this modern society and offers some advice to introspect on your toxic vices. I also have a guest on this episode to offer some perspective on this subject matter. I hope you can relate and in general we can all become better humans together. 💜

Be Free.

Be Free.

This episode has a lot of context on why I stopped putting out poetry and what has been going on in my life for the past two weeks. Also, there is a lot of reference to Jcole's "The climb back" song. Enjoy!

First day of the rest of my life

First day of the rest of my life

I finally did it!! I finally started a podcast. This is just the intro and I would love it if you stuck around for more episodes.

Transcript :

0:05:  Hello! what's going on? Welcome to my podcast! emm, I never really thought I'd be doing this but here I am. I am doing a podcast and I am calling it finding balance obviously.

0:21: So, why am I doing a Podcast? So for like the past year, I have been struggling with finding balance in my life as a software developer and also as a young adult, I am very open about my age, I am like 23 years old so Please I really don't have all the answers, to be honest, I am figuring this life this out but then, I make mistakes and I am here to share what I have learned to form my mistakes and how we can be better humans together.

0:54: I have always been like the guy to always try to work, work work work, even when I chill with my friends I am thinking about work in my subconscious, when I am sleeping I am trying to work and this is as a result of the environment I had to grow up in and I mean it's cool and all but then It takes a toll on you when your life is so one-sided.

1:24: When people say, Oh my God Obinna you have to take time off work, you have to relax, I am like "what are you talking about" because all I know how to do is work, so when people say work-life balance it's weird because how do you get a work-life balance when all you know how to do is work.

1:43:  Anyways I am not going to bore you all about all my personal problems right now, this podcast is me navigating life as a young Nigerian boy, telling you about working as a software engineer and writing poetry and chilling with my friend and discussing issues and my opinions and having thoughtful disagreements about different things.

2:12: I really hope that we have a good time together and I will see you as soon as I start recording full episodes and fleshing out what I am going to be talking about. Love you guys, thank you so much for listening to me rant. Peace.
