Off The Reels

Lots of great movies are turning 40 this year, and so are we. Since we recorded this in between our birthdays, we take a look at all the movies and actors that are turning 40 or started their career in the good ol year of 1981. But first, we have to discuss LOKI. It is shaping up to be the best Marvel show. Hopefully it wont let us down.

That's one of John's Wife's favorite sayings. This week we talk about a new release, some new overdubbing technology and we mention a few things about Starwars. Also, Warner Bros. and Discovery Networks released their new merged name. Hope they didn't pay someone a lot of money to come up with what they did. Lastly, John has been re-watching one of his favorite old shows and noticed something good about it.

First Disney scooped up big IPs and Fox. Then AT&T, which has WarnerMedia and HBO, merges with Discovery Networks. NOW Amazon wants MGM. If that happens, what will Amazon get with that? Pretty soon they will all be just one company! 

This episode we talk about Disney released new Star Wars content on Disney+ for "May the 4th". Then we discuss this years delayed start to the "Summer Blockbuster" time. That leads us down some odd rabbit holes. What were we talking about?

Episode is a little late but it helped with some topics. We get to talk about the Oscars, the original Predator writers are suing for the rights back and how far will Studios take retro fitting product placement into older shows and movies. Then we get into The Falcon and Winter Soldier. WARNING...there will be spoilers!!!

This episodes starts out talking about Netflix buying Knives Out, AI possibly writing scripts in the future and some journalist trying to mess with people by saying Horror movies can not be set in space. Then John makes a statement that causes a discussion about Horror movies. We have not had a debate like this in a while. "Where'd you get that hat? A friend gave it to me. - Who punched you in the eye? Same friend."

Zack Snyder's Justice League finally releases and the fans love it. But why cant the critics. Also, The Falcon and Winter Soldier just aired its first episode. Is Marvel on to something. Finally, RIP Yaphet Kotto. In honor of his awesome appearance in Live and Let Die, we give our top 3 picks for James Bond Intro songs and almost make the same list.

WANDAVISION WAS AWESOME! We discuss the finale and overall how great the show was. Also, we talk about Coming 2 America. Was it as good as the original? Depends on what your looking for. And, HBO Max had a leak and one of us finally watches Captain Marvel. 

On this episode we talk about Paramount+ copying other streaming trends, who owns the Jack Ryan character, and take a few tangents. I, John, recently went on at trip to Disney World and got to see Star Wars Land. If your a star wars fan you MUST go see it! I also saw Pandora while i was there but meh. 

This week we start with some film makers stealing ideas, more remake news, and CBS rebranding their streaming service. Then we picked our top 3 composers and discuss how they effected us. When is a score more than just music...listen and find out.

We start with topics like WandaVision, possible James Bond Reshoots, and a few other but we keep getting side tracked and follow the rabbit hole where ever it takes us. But that's on par with how our conversations usually go. 

SPOILER ALERT: In this episode we discuss Season 3 of Cobra Kai. If you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? We give our opinions about the latest season and does it live up to the previous two. But first we talk about WB/DC release schedule along with Netflix's announcement about releasing 1 movie a week. 

What a year it has been. We look back at what we have watched this year and discuss what we feel was the best things we watched. Then we give our Top 3 Christmas movies that we just cannot miss, and what the mean to us. Lastly, how does a movie get to be considered a Christmas movie. This week we discuss Netflix's newest investment and does it mean Hollywood is loosing its golden shine. Also, We discuss the latest Mandalorian episode. The season keeps getting better and more exciting. But how long can it last and how far do you take it? Of course we have our opinions.

On this episode, we talk about the current state of Movie Theaters or Cinemas or The Shows or how ever you say it where you are from. We look at how the pandemic is effecting the industry, what they mean to us and why they need to stay around. RIP Sir Sean Connery. We each give our top 3 list of films we enjoy to watch Sean Connery in and talk a little about his career. Also, Mando is back! We give our spoiler free (which wasn't easy) opinions about the first episode of The Mandalorian season 2. 

Hello and Welcome to the first episode of our new podcast. We start off with a little introduction and then jump right into it. Right off the bat we give our thoughts about the new streaming trend, DC movie universe potential, what makes a good reboot/sequel and more.
