All there is to say is that star-power alone does not a movie make.

She's a mess and he avoids making messes. She's a paleontologist (in theory) and he's a hitman (in theory). Will this unlikely pair make it while dealing with New Orleans organized crime? Yeah, probably. That's the genre after all.

We kept referencing it, so it was finally time to review it. A tad more style over substance, when we finally looked at it closely there is a lot to be said. It just doesn't always execute it as well as it could.

Some call it the greatest sport to grace the Earth. Others say that its the thing that one annoying kid was really into. Either way, it makes for a surprisingly funny movie with just a smidge of racism.

Kinda light on the horror, because its too cheesy to get the spooks and scares you might want. But, as a human interest story equivalent, this is shockingly impressive.

Hey kids, you wanna see a dead body? What if we explored the mystery of why that body was dead, kind of. Not in like a forensics sense like a procedural. More like if Inspector Clouseau was tasked with solving a murder.

Football is a classic premise. Typically either high-school or professional, so we're shaking things up by looking at college ball. Oh, they also aren't very good, so shaking up the formula even further. Ah well, at least this one got buried in the sands of time.

We really just watched a man have a breakdown. And then Jim Carrey went on to make this number-obsessed nightmare.

⁠⁠⁠We don't do adaptations typically, much less adaptations of anime. But here we are, bursting out of the gate at mach 5. Strangely focused on business minutiae for what should be a racing movie.

Not quite a biopic, as they're very willing to be wrong to make a better story. Will Forte plays a man who platformed some of the funniest people that we know from the 70s. Surprisingly, we get a little opera lesson.

Confusion! That's the name of the game for this one. We almost had a near expert who may have been able to help us navigate, but life had other plans. Sophia practices deep breathing to retain some sanity.

Mostly historical, but kinda not. Unbelievable acting and occasionally very funny moments. Bring your own copy of 1984

We had a lot of fun watching this movie where the actors clearly had a lot of fun. You've very like heard of this movie. Hell, there's a real chance you've seen this movie. But have you ever really thought about it. Well, neither did we! Sit back and enjoy the lambasting.

The underrated powerhouse Sam Rockwell leads this unfortunate film. Fair warning, we are pretty mean to Christians and Christianity in this episode.

Believe it or not, people used to try to get work being in the audience of infomercials. And for some, they might've actually been able to make something close to making a living. For one such man in the early 00s, he found that getting noticed on these shows was not a road to stardom, but a hindrance to his livelihood. This movie also weaves in a romance that isn't the typical hetero-nonsense.

This jam packed musical nearly has an idea to communicate. We got so swept up in the fragmented ideas, we forgot to address one more thoroughly, namely parallel approaches to legacy with regards to Shiloh and Rotti. Ah well, we'll get 'em next time.

What's more dangerous to the world than a priest? One that uncontrollably transforms into a dinosaur. Lets get silly with this shitpost on film and have an excellent time.

Funny people failing to actually be funny is more common than you think. This is one such movie, which also has a distinctly indie movie flair about it. Still though, an enjoyable watch.

We could only dream of having this much money to lose. So lets point and laugh at the two jackasses who gotta rough it for a week. That said, their misery is much more of their own doing than for most people.

A romance with People's Sexiest Man Alive of 2022? Color me intrigued. Though after watching this one, I'd be a little wary of going down that path. We bring back our in-house rom-com expert to tackle this one along with us.

Tense. Focused. Mysterious. All apt descriptors, but missing that this is also needlessly complicated and a bit self-important. However, just like all the neon signs throughout, we light the shadowed narrative path, and look good while doing it.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Not in the slightest, because only one of these superheros has anything close to flight. A great send up of superheros and vigilantes that was surprisingly prescient, considering what the next two decades of cinema would look like. This also gave the world the banger that is All Star by Smash Mouth as well as the 2nd grossest thing Paul Reubens has ever done.

Its the late 2000s. What comedy genres have had their time in the limelight recently? Teen sex comedies and road trip movies. Does combining them work in this instance? Barely, if at all. This may be the most dating advice with aunt Sophia heavy episode to date, because when you watch a train-wreck of relationships, its easy to point out all the ways to not fuck up.

We keep it rolling with movies made in the 20th century. But this one is not nearly as enjoyable, at least not sincerely. Anyway, we just complain a lot about a movie that features Sean Connery in one the strangest costumes to come out of Hollywood.

We're going back to an older time. A stranger time. Dare I say it, a ... weirder time. A very fun look at some old school TV style and some solid comedy.

Usually all three people here enjoy musicals, but only one of us liked this movie. This may actually be an elaborate, roundabout marriage proposal from Sophia to Alona Tal. Trevor introduces the idea of butchering actors' names and we run with it like we're Olympic sprinters.

So this movie is very funny, but a bit light on plot content. So we have to make our own fun in this episode at times. You might think its getting distracted from the point, but its definitely making our own fun.

Another comedy that deals with social issues, and we naturally treat it with 2% more levity than we should. Honestly, a bit of a blur, just like real college.

Its that one farting corpse movie. Would you believe us that this is actually a pretty deep and touching movie? Well buckle in and let us make a believer out of you? We also say "society" enough times that even the Jared Leto Joker would tell us to tone it down. Make a drinking game out of it if you want.

Seems puberty makes you act cringe. But lets make this funny by doing something like that but unexpectedly, like with a grown man. Is it funny? Absolutely not! Cringe is always cringe, even though cringe is dead. As well anyone should, we ignore the main nonsense to focus on the main characters dumb-dumb buddies.

We've been trying to do less movies about high school teenagers and their silly problems. But, for 90 minutes a year, all cringe is legal. Complaints are aplenty. Will they get resolved by the end? Tune in for a very special episode of Off the Film Path. (This is actually not particularly special and the preceding sentence is written to ape the writing of early 2000s MTV teen dramas)

So...we make an almost absurd level of references to other media, especially movies we've covered previously. That may be the sugar that helps discussion of this otherwise not great movie. 

Lonely Island doing what they do best, making good songs and knockout jokes. The mockumentary style helps it stand out from plenty of other movies and the absolute glut of cameos is a constant delight.

So we thought we were walking into a movie where two attractive ladies...hang out, I guess. That was not the case. This was a disturbing portrayal of a person giving into their worst instincts, driven by loneliness. A gripping balancing act that also gives us a bit of relief with Ice Cube's son.

Do you kind of like America because its the only place you've ever lived but also deeply despise many goings-on of the country? What if there were a movie that made you both appear to care about America in the bizarre manner of a zealot, but actually just showed you bonkers animation with a shockingly bizarre sense of humor. Come with us on this journey as Kyle gets a kick out of this production and Sophia works very hard to not to get stuck in the weeds about actual history.

Hey, here's the student film on our list. Kyle is like two degrees separated from the creator. We get a hat trick of Dating Advice with Aunt Sophia™. The movie acts as a fun little tour of St. Louis suburbs if you know where to look.

There's a reason this one was a Sundance darling. Truly incredible movie that is a delight to watch. Y'know what's cooler than time travel? Learning to open up emotionally to others.

A Bible anthology. Doesn't sound too bad as long as you're fine with a biblical movie right? No this thing is rough. Which is almost too bad because there are parts that could've made it halfway decent.

Hey, did you know George Lucas made two movies before Star Wars? This is arguably the better of the two, according to Sophia. Perhaps the best book report on Orwell's 1984. A bit slow moving and opaque, but it is as it is.

Well we lost a host for this episode so we've reached our inevitable form, two cishet white men talking about movies. It was almost three but there was a last minute scheduling issue. To talk about the movie, Barney Fife sends Peter Parker and Elle Woods to live in some black and white family sitcom. But as the 90s 'tudes go back in time, things get a little strange.
