[Audio Quicktakes] E67: Let's Talk To An Investment Pro! - On The Edge Podcast
Today with On The Edge Podcast we have Paul Sloate, founder of Green Drake Advisors. Paul coaches CEO’s and trademarked the term ‘The Accidental Economist.’ We’re excited to talk about bringing corporations to the next level and having a great economics chat. What is the standard entrepreneur you see out there that you see succeeding? How do you find the clients you work with and how do they know they need you? What is a private equity deal? We discuss an example of a private equity deal and how it works for both the business owner and the investor. How do they make money? What are economies of scale? So family owned, vs private company or family business, which is the best to invest in and buy? How do you make the decision of which one to take over? From somebody on the outside of this world, we see it dramatized on TV in shows like “Billions.” What’s the real world like in this business? Would it be fair to say that in some companies, there is tension between the CEO and the board regarding investing in the future and maintaining income goals? Again the media makes us believe that there is constant tension, how does that all work? What is actually the CEO’s job? You said ‘inflation is not coming, inflation is here.’ What does that mean for growing companies? Is this where we see the beginnings of a recession? How have the government stimuluses affected the market and the economy? Scott discusses how even purchasing a car has changed a lot since last year. The dealerships have the advantage now, they are charging markups on normal cars and not including features that used to be standard. Is this because of inflation and the government stimulus? Where are smart people putting their money right now? What are some examples of ‘real assets’ as opposed to paper assets? What is your favorite movie and why? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)   Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket.  This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized. E66: Growing Your Business with Rob Coldwell - On The Edge Podcast
Today with the On The Edge Podcast, we’re talking to Rob Coldwell, one of my GoBundance friends who owns a company called Rent Well, which is all about property management. He’s evolved it to a fully integrated business and has opened up an investment wing of their own. Today we’ll be discussing the process of growing a business and the pros and cons of vertical integration. We also talk about addiction and how it affects a person working in a successful business. WARNING: Discussions including suicide, addiction, and death occur during this conversation. 2:00 - What is a good property management company and what are you doing to run a good scaleable company? 9:00 - You mentioned that you have 4 different offices and it’s labor intensive. Where is this labor involved, is it with inspections, or actually fixing things? 14:50 - What does vertical integration mean, and why does it matter? How does it matter in a property management company? 23:40 - Where are you currently operating? 24:00 - Give us an example of something that was exciting to accomplish, one of the benefits of being directly involved with the clients 30:30 - What are some negative things that you have had to deal with, in the same regard. 38:30 - How many people are on your team? 39:30 - We discuss addiction and how Rob decided to join a program to help him escape that situation. 53:50 - You mentioned that success can mask a lot of problems people may have, which include addiction. Popular media has led us to believe that the only addicts out there are low-lifes, or people with no jobs. It’s fascinating to hear a story about a successful addict, do you have other stories about this? 1:04:30 - What are some takeaways you have from the book “The Untethered Soul?” 1:13:30 - This is an important story to hear because I feel that many of our listeners feel like the recovery process for you was easy because ‘you already made it’ or ‘because you’re rich,’ some kind of dismissive thought. Do you find trouble getting apathy from other people regarding the situation? 1:20:50 - How much has this journey helped you be more present with the challenges of raising children? 1:26:00 - Meditation and the GoGiver mentality. 1:34:30 - What’s your favorite movie and why? This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)   Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket.  This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized.   I am a Mortgage Loan Officer & Loan Officer Coach in real life. [Audio QuickTakes] E65: Justin Skinner, Author of "Professional Failure" - On The Edge Podcast
Hello Friends! Today with On The Edge Podcast we’re talking to Justin Skinner, who works in commercial real estate as well as short term residential, but more importantly is the Author of “Professional Failure.” We’ll covers some politics, health news, real estate chat, and growing pains of owning a business. Come join us! We start the chat off talking about StarLInk. I’ve put money into it but have no idea what it is. What does rural life look like living with the unspecified virus of YouTube demonitization if mentioned? Are people following the same safety protocol? Lets talk about your journey into the commercial real estate world. How is it different than residential real estate? Is it harder, or actually easier? What did the journey look like for you? How much of your work is actually helping a client acquire a property versus being their business advisor and psychologist for what they actually need? What is a triple net lease? Why don’t companies get into the real estate game? Why do huge companies like Dollar General and Starbucks lease instead of owning their land? McDonalds seems to do really well with that business plan. What does a big commercial deal look like? Why would it take over a year for you to get paid on it? You mentioned ‘Don’t fall in love with the property, fall in love with the opportunity,” what do you mean by that? Seems like almost the opposite of how buyers work in the residential real estate market. What does financing look like when you purchase a commercial building? Your book is called “Professional Failure,” let’s talk about some of your business failures and what inspired the book. Let’s talk about one of the lessons you provide in your book “Professional Failure.” You own some residential properties in medium-market areas instead of tourist areas. How did you decide to go with that market instead of cashing in on potentially big dollar markets? Has the short to medium term rental market provided you any benefits, like financial freedom? Anything you’re looking forward to in 2022? Tell us something interesting about you outside of business.

[Audio Quicktakes] E64: Make Your Small Business a HUGE Business - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Today with On The Edge Podcast we’re talking to Darius Mirshahazadeh, who is a master at growing small businesses. Featured in The New York Times, Forbes, Fast Company, and Entrepreneur Magazine, he’s kind of a big deal and we’re proud to have him with us on the podcast today. This is a bit of a 2 part podcast, the first half we talk about current events and politics, and the second half we talk about Darius’s business successes. To skip to the business half, go to 53:30 Darius is from Iran. We talk about the background of his name, where he’s from, and some details about the area he grew up. Why do so many people refer to themselves as “Persian” when there is no current place on the planet called Persia? Scott talks about Crypto Currency Darius owns a condo in Iran, and he explains what he can do with it to get some value out of it. We discuss the intricacies of doing business internationally from the USA to Iran. There are a lot of risk evaluations when it comes to traveling to Iran from the US, and that brings up another subject of risk that we can’t specify directly in the notes. How do you think the USA is doing in terms of evaluating long-term risk regarding the current unspecified thing going on in the USA? Nobody in the USA is actually as politically aligned with what they think they are. For example, the same people that want ’vaccine freedom’ also want to restrict abortion. Just an example. We talk about pronouns and the evolution of communication between generations and how rapidly its changing. People think we’re more divided than ever, but are we? We certainly have a ton of opinions and even more ways to share them, but less than 100 years ago, there was rampant murder and justice was much more swift. Are we really as divided as we think we are or do we just like to think that way? Why do we give so much attention to the crazy people? Does the USA incentivize crazy? How is that Q group that we can’t specify actually in existence…how do they have people in the actual government? What information is real and what is manufactured? Is what we hear from politicians and the media actually reflecting reality? What’s it like talking to entrepreneurs about the state of financial America? Darius introduces the concepts in his book and how business is different today than how it was when our parents were our age. The barrier of entry to start a business has never been lower, and it will keep getting lower. It’s much easier for people to start a business today. Naturally, we are seeing more business which means we are seeing more businesses fail as well as succeed. How do you see this changing over time and what can we do to prepare for the changes? Is outsourcing helping or hurting our economy? Is it helping or hurting China’s economy? Do we have a grasp on what a modern war between the USA and China would look like? Perhaps it will be much more digital than our traditional understanding of war. Scott discusses how we’ve already heard about this from previous presidential candidates.

[Audio Quicktakes] E63: Your Favorite Movie Probably Leans Libertarian - On The Edge CLIPS
Today with On The Edge Podcast, we’re talking with Matt Epenshade who has his own podcast called the Cut And Splice Podcast. Matt is a cinematographer, and for the most part, we’re gonna be talking about movies today. If you’re interested in movies, then this is the podcast for you! HEADS UP: I’m not sure what happened here, but the audio on this podcast is NOT GREAT. It’s a great conversation though so I still wanted to get this out there for you all to hear. We start off with some political talk about the movie industry. The industry historically leans left, but lately it seems like it’s maneuvered itself to more far left and less liberal. What does ‘below the line’ and ‘above the line’ mean in the movie industry? What does a cinematographer do? Scott and Matt discuss their favorite movies. Scott talks about why he never trusts the academy because Shakespeare in Love beat a much, much better movie, Saving Private Ryan. Because of this, Scott has avoided watching other Oscar winning movies because of their poor taste. A discussion about War Movie “Come And See” One of Matt’s must-watch movies is Dark City. It turns out that The Matrix is basically a rip-off of Dark City, down to even using some of the same set pieces. Why do people love the movies so much? A discussion about The Cohen Brothers. Movies are created to entertain, however some movies seem to exist to disturb people. The creators of these movies must know that they will never be a cinema blockbuster, so why are they made? A discussion about Libertarianism in the movie world. How do movies represent Libertarian values. Matt discusses that ‘the best libertarian movies are movies that are accidentally libertarian.’ A discussion about the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and outcome, and more importantly, the American people’s opinions about the whole situation that are largely misinformed. Scott discusses how he got his DUI. The story of what happened and manipulation that he experienced during the trial very well may be why he is a libertarian and not a republican. The discussion continues about falsely accused people and how there is an inherent bias in our justice system. There is a book called “Three Felonies A Day” which in short, is about how every American on average commits well, three felonies a day. Some people are still in jail for marijuana crimes in states where marijuana is perfectly legal. This is just another example of how our justice system is overblown and how our country has a love relationship with locking people up. Free Solo was a great movie that make your palms sweat the entire time. Scott and Matt discuss other movies that make your palms sweat! Best and worst Star Trek movies. What is the worst movie that you love?

E63: Your Favorite Movie Probably Leans Libertarian - On The Edge CLIPS
Today with On The Edge Podcast, we’re talking with Matt Epenshade who has his own podcast called the Cut And Splice Podcast. Matt is a cinematographer, and for the most part, we’re gonna be talking about movies today. If you’re interested in movies, then this is the podcast for you! HEADS UP: I’m not sure what happened here, but the audio on this podcast is NOT GREAT. It’s a great conversation though so I still wanted to get this out there for you all to hear. 1:00 - We start off with some political talk about the movie industry. The industry historically leans left, but lately it seems like it’s maneuvered itself to more far left and less liberal. 5:00 - What does ‘below the line’ and ‘above the line’ mean in the movie industry? 7:00 - What does a cinematographer do? 11:00 - Scott and Matt discuss their favorite movies. 16:00 - Scott talks about why he never trusts the academy because Shakespeare in Love beat a much, much better movie, Saving Private Ryan. Because of this, Scott has avoided watching other Oscar winning movies because of their poor taste. 21:00 - A discussion about War Movie “Come And See” 34:00 - One of Matt’s must-watch movies is Dark City. It turns out that The Matrix is basically a rip-off of Dark City, down to even using some of the same set pieces. 36:20 - Why do people love the movies so much? 39:00 - A discussion about The Cohen Brothers. 41:00 - Movies are created to entertain, however some movies seem to exist to disturb people. The creators of these movies must know that they will never be a cinema blockbuster, so why are they made? 46:40 - A discussion about Libertarianism in the movie world. How do movies represent Libertarian values. Matt discusses that ‘the best libertarian movies are movies that are accidentally libertarian.’ 56:30 - A discussion about the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and outcome, and more importantly, the American people’s opinions about the whole situation that are largely misinformed. 1:03:50 - Scott discusses how he got his DUI. The story of what happened and manipulation that he experienced during the trial very well may be why he is a libertarian and not a republican. 1:10:00 - The discussion continues about falsely accused people and how there is an inherent bias in our justice system. There is a book called “Three Felonies A Day” which in short, is about how every American on average commits well, three felonies a day. 1:25:00 - Some people are still in jail for marijuana crimes in states where marijuana is perfectly legal. This is just another example of how our justice system is overblown and how our country has a love relationship with locking people up. 1:31:20 - Free Solo was a great movie that make your palms sweat the entire time. Scott and Matt discuss other movies that make your palms sweat! 1:33:35 - Best and worst Star Trek movies. 1:40:00 - What is the worst movie that you love?

[Audio Quicktakes] E62: Childbirth Isn't Always Sunshine And Rainbows - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Today with On The Edge Podcast, we’re excited to talk to Author Suzanne Yatim Aslam. She’s here to talk about her book ‘ Post Pardon Me.” The book is about a woman’s spiral into post-pardon depression and anxiety and how she found her way out of it. We’ll get into the book and a whole bunch of other stuff so stick around for this great interview! Suzanne introduces herself and her background. Suzanne is a first generation American who’s parents came from the Bethlehem area. How does one go from escaping the Upper Peninsula to becoming Miss Arab USA? Let’s talk about Human Rights. I get the impression that sometimes the USA is taking the definition of ‘human rights’ a little too far, which devalues the meaning of actual human rights worldwide. What do you think? Scott talks about a trip he took to Palestine and Israel, one of the best and most informative trips he took in his life. Suzanne and Scott discuss religion and politics in the Middle East. Where did the idea for your book come from? Was it easy to make the decision to have children? Why did you decide to move forward with having kids instead of not having them, especially if you weren’t confident about the decision? It’s a lonely world after having a child and finding out that the whole situation is just super depressing. There’s this inner guilt that you’re supposed to be happy about the situation but for a lot of people it just isn’t. Before Scott had kids, one of his friends gave him some great advice about the first few years of being a father. The truth is, it sucks most of the time. It seems like men seem to have this ‘bro talk’ with each other, but women don’t. Do you think that’s true and why do women do this to each other? What was it like tackling the first emotions of having a child? Again, while the world says that everyone is supposed to just be super happy, that’s not the reality for many parents. Dads worry about providing, moms worry about losing their entire work and social life. Traditional roles vs different solutions become a problem. How long does this last and how do you get over it? It takes a village to raise a kid. Is this really true? Did you experience this in your life? Nobody says the truth about parenting when they’re going through the hard part. The truth is, many of us have the thought ‘I don’t like my kid.” You’re not supposed to say you don’t like your kid. This was part of the inspiration for Suzanne’s book, allowing parents to see that in print and know that they’re not the only ones having the thought. We discuss the power of communication and couples asking each other exactly what they need and want.

This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Dave is here to talk to us about making enough passive income so we can all reach our big goal…retirement! Join us today as we learn about the world of Real Estate in the Great Smokey Mountains. What motivated you to leave your normal job and start selling homes? What got you into Rental Arbitrage? What is “Cash on Cash?” Where do you make the most amount of money with the least amount of payment? Short term rentals can net 2 1/2 times what long term rentals pay, so how do you leverage this and start making additional income? Let’s talk about the Great Smokey Mountains and why they’re an attractive investment for you? What do rental properties cost in that area? Is now a good time to invest in that area? People are always saying we’re at the top of the market, things are going to go down. The news is saying that the virus of unspecified origin is going to have a negative effect on the airbnb market. Is any of this true? Scott and Dave discuss a real life example of the type of income Dave is seeing in the Great Smokey Mountains area. What do the risks of investing in that area look like? Is the market susceptible to global pandemics, or ebbs and flows in visitation? Let’s talk about the math of spending a little more to make a lot more in income. We use specific real world examples on how investing in your short-term rental home can result in larger returns. Dave discusses a really cool short-term rental market tool called AirDNA. This is a service that can let you know what the market in your area is like. What are other rental homes renting for, based on size, location, and a ton of other criteria. Where do you see the next big market emerging from? Do you see the market in the GSM shrinking? Are there any investment plans for the future? What is your favorite movie and why? Give us some examples of real life businesses that you helped take it to the next level. Show off a little bit! What is something you’re looking forward to in 2022 with your business? [Audio Quicktakes] E59: Bringing Military Precision To Your Business - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Our first in-person guest in what seems like forever is Jedidiah Wallace, owner of Wallace Keystone Consulting group. Jed is an Air Force Veteran who worked in logistics and now runs a company that helps companies thrive through logistics. It’s an awesome conversation about evolving companies to perform their best! How do you become somebody who finds inefficiencies with the military and get paid for it? What exactly did you do for the Air Force? How did we end up “losing” the war in Afghanistan considering our air superiority? It seems like we had to try to lose. What happened? What were some interesting things you found during training that were different from real life situations? Soldiers today are actually able to pilot a drone remotely, close to their homes. They can actively engage in combat and still be home for dinner with their families. What has this done for the psychology of the soldiers? After spending 8 years in the military, you decided to leave. You enjoyed it and made a bunch of money, what compelled you to leave instead of staying? What does ‘going from E3 to E4 to E5’ mean in the military? What does that all stand for? Can you talk about some examples of our Military’s excellent logistics capabilities? How does your experience in logistics with the military help you to create the successful company you run today? How do people come to the realization that they need to contact you for your help in their company, and how do they even find out that somebody like you exists? Tell us about your journey actually creating your business after leaving the military. How did it come to fruition that you’re an expert at what you do and other people need your help? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-) Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket.  This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized. [Audio Quicktakes] E58: Success Is Easy With The Right Mindset - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available HERE! Today we’re talking to Steven Dossou, a Youth Advocate who has spent his life traveling the world and spreading positivity. With everything going on in the world, I’m super excited to interview somebody who’s life work is making other peoples lives better! What is your origin story? How did you your life get you to play the role that you play today? We discuss how Steven moved from a place where the average income is $50 per month to begin his journey around the world. You mentioned growing up in a house with 9 siblings, and used words like ‘dreams’ and ‘hope’ which is somewhat unusual for somebody in that kind of position in a family with such a low income. What was unique about your upbringing that filled you with optimism? How old were you when you walked from Togo to South Africa? Did you run into any issues? “Opportunities never go away, they just transfer to other people.” What opportunities have come your way between your first job and where you are today? How does motivating those around you actually become your job? How do you evolve from ‘really good manager’ to motivational speaker and world traveler? You keep saying “faith and hard work,” and I’m honestly seeing less and less of that in today’s growing society especially here in the United States. What do you see in your experience in the rest of the world? Social Media is a HUGE part of our lives today, I get business from it, you get business from it, but in some ways it may be making people think that they can magically become something they can’t. You mention ‘fear, self doubt, and self esteem,’ do you see Social Media playing into those negativities in young people today? What are you excited about going into 2022? What’s your favorite movie and why? ----------- Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)   Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket. Today is PART TWO of our Podcast with Matt Hermann, who is a Radiologist, worked in the largest “walled” prison in the USA, rode his bike across the USA, and is currently getting ready to move to Puerto Rico. You might say he’s the most interesting man in the world. Let’s dig in! Hilary Clinton says that Crypto is going to replace the US dollar as the dominant currency, and while she was trying to be negative, I think she’s right. We discuss why disruption of currency and why decentralized currency is important for the future. Why do you think the fact that big banks can’t fail is wrong? Yeah, one or two may go down here and there, but as a whole, we still believe they can’t fail and trust them with our money. Why is that? Banks know that if you have upwards of 5 banking products within their bank, the chances of you leaving the bank are virtually zero. Wells Fargo even went as far as to open accounts for customers without them even knowing. Is this the banks admitting that their business model is at risk of failing? Environmentalism should be a bigger concern than it is. “Carbon Certificates” seem to work well with corporations and voters, but are they really good for the country? Tell us why you decided to ride your bike across the USA? What are some takeaways that you gained from biking across the nation? What did you listen to while riding? What did you learn about physicality during your ride? Was it all physical or was there a mental aspect as well? Why did you move to Puerto Rico? How did you convince your wife that it was a good idea? What’s your favorite movie, and why? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)   Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket. This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized.   I am a Mortgage Loan Officer & Loan Officer Coach in real life. [Audio Quicktakes] E56: Discovering The People of Our Country - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Today we’re here with Matt Hermann, who is a Radiologist, worked in the largest “walled” prison in the USA, rode his bike across the USA, and is currently getting ready to move to Puerto Rico. You might say he’s the most interesting man in the world. Let’s dig in! Matt worked in the hospital at the Largest Walled Prison in the USA, which is in Michigan. What did you see working in that environment? How old were you when you worked in the prison hospital, and why did you take the job? Do you have more sympathy for prisoners since you have first hand experience working with them? What is the “Opioid Crisis?” In my understanding, it’s an addiction to medication but not hardcore drugs, but how does it happen and what are we doing about it as a nation? In the 90’s we were supposed to like opioids, what happened? We seem to go back and forward on whether or not the pharmaceutical companies are good or evil. They’re getting sued all the time. What is your opinion on what they’re doing? Scott discusses some of his own health problems and how pharmaceuticals will most likely allow him to live longer. People don’t realize we are living in the future, and that is to the detriment of many people’s health. Do you see this as a major problem? On the vein of us living in the future, Scott discusses some alarming priority issues that exist in his family. Americans seem to be getting more and more complacent and are not even realizing it. Inflation is out of control, our world footprint is shrinking, our government can’t maintain a budget. Meanwhile, China has a 100 year plan and a ton more experience than we do. Do you think our citizens are ready to not be in the same worldwide position we’ve been in in the near future? I understand the “why” of crypto, but I don’t understand the “how” or “where.” Can you shed some light on this? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-) Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket.  This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized.   I am a Mortgage Loan Officer & Loan Officer Coach in real life. [Audio Quicktakes] Moving Your Money To Better Markets - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Today we’re talking to Adam Jason, who moved from the USA to Colombia to run a Coffee startup. He’s doing really well with his business and he’s here to talk about the changes he encountered moving his business from the USA to another Country. His company finds investors in the USA to contribute to his business in Colombia. How well is he doing, does he recommend it? Let’s find out! What does ‘Private Equity’ mean? What about ‘Venture Capital?’ What does that mean, and why is it beneficial for US dollars to be invested in Colombia? It seems like it’s easier to get in on an emerging or even dominant market in Colombia for far less money than attempting to do the same thing in the USA. Is it really that simple or are there hurdles that somebody in the USA may not have thought of? What’s the risk of losing everything in this kind of investment? What can go wrong? Is it hard to negotiate business as an obvious outsider to the country? The USA Stock Market is riding an all-time high valuation. Are your investors people that are interested in getting in at the ground level in another country? Are your investors accredited in the USA? What does it look like staffing a farm in Colombia? What does hiring look like for you? What are the ‘boots on the ground’ dynamics? What does the social and government structure look like in Colombia? What are the economics of that Country? What are some other industries do you think are ripe for investment in South America? How much did “The 2020 situation” accelerate globalization in investments? What allowed you to see a future moving to another Country and investing there? So many people in the USA rely on getting and keeping that corporate job, what made you move away? You mentioned that the minimum wage down there is US$250 per month, what does that mean for the cost of living? Do you save money on your day-to-day life by living in Colombia? Many USA residents immediately think of the drug traffic market in Colombia. Have you noticed that industry creating a problem for you? Is it still affecting the economy there? How does it play a role? What's next for your company? Do you plan to diversify outside of the coffee industry?  58:10 - You mentioned “Vertical Integration.” What does that mean? Does being an English-first speaker hold you back from doing business in a primarily Spanish country?  1:07:40 - What are you looking forward to in 2022? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)   Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket. The Quintessential End-Of-Year Podcast - On The Edge Podcast
Our guest with On The Edge Podcast today is Adam Stock. Adam is a Certified Financial Planner and runs his company The Next Level Planning Group. In one of the best conversations we’ve ever had on the Podcast, we cover a wide range of subjects from personality checks, financial checks, and trading checks, to annual planning and making the right decisions for your future. I urge anybody who is looking to make some changes in their life to give this one a serious listen.    4:00 - Why is it important to be interested instead of interesting? So many people just love talking about themselves in a conversation, but something that might get you ahead in life is to be the one listening, asking questions, and learning about the people around you.    9:10 - As far as investing, is it better to be constantly trading or to sit on a portfolio and let it play out in the long term? Is there a pro or con to either strategy?   16:25 - What is inflation and why does it matter? Does it make a difference in your investments? How has the printing of money throughout the pandemic affected inflation rates in the last year?   29:40 - Savings are up in the United States, which is great! Do you think it’s going to stay that way or is spending about to start up again now that we seem to be headed back into a process of normalization in the USA?  34:40 - You may be a very intelligent individual, but don’t try to outsmart the market. [Audio Quicktakes] Getting Ahead With Content Creation - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast for those of you on-the-go, but the full podcast is also available here! Today, we’re talking to Paul Xavier, who is an online product creator who made his first million dollars before he turned 30. We’re both part of a great group called Go-Bundance and I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to learn about Paul’s somewhat unique rise to success in the online world. Check Out Paul's Website: www.contentcreator.com Get in touch with Paul: paulx@mrpaulxavier.com What does ‘build cool products’ mean to you? What happened in your youth that launched this entrepreneurial attitude? Paul discusses the simple way he found success early on, and the simple secret is that anybody can do it with some simple steps. Talk about the mentality shift going from a government contract worker to a freelance worker. What about the hustle changed? Can you walk us through a successful implementation of creating an online income? How does the creation of a sales process work? Paul walks us through an example using Scott’s coaching platform. How do you know you’re working with a trustworthy online assistant? There are SO many people out there that don’t fulfill their promises, so how do you know you’re picking the right one? How do you solve situations for parts of the job you don’t like doing? Like if you LOVE creating content but hate selling it, how do you find the right fit for that position? How do you build a team of people to push a product? Do you like short term help or long term help? How many clients do you like to work with? You mentioned earlier that you had a speech coach earlier in life, do you think that experience ‘set the table’ for going after your goals at an early age and helped you find success quicker than most people? You’re crushing it now and I have no doubt you’ll do better and better, but were there any failures along the way? Things you wished you could have done better? ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-) Because I think these kind of long form conversations are valuable, I pay for 100% of the production of this show out of my pocket.  This channel is FAR from monetization and because of the subject matter, may never be monetized.   I am a Mortgage Loan Officer & Loan Officer Coach in real life. Let's talk about Inflation, Class Action Lawsuits, Kyle Rittenhouse, and Pronouns!
This week we’ll be talking about this crazy inflation streak we’re on, the real impact of class action lawsuits, Kyle Rittenhouse, and some new protocol in hospitals for patient pronouns. Let’s get into it!   3:46 - Inflation is taking off right now and it’s impossible for anybody to ignore. Is our democratic system to blame? Is it the alleged 40% of all currency being printed in the last 18 months? Do we blame Coronavirus? Or Donald Trump, or Joe Biden? Who’s fault is it, how can we fix it, and where do we go from here?   15:00 - This “Pencil Speech” about the benefits of the free market should be required viewing for every human being in the USA.   33:15 - Why do things get more expensive? I believe that an underlooked part of it is unneeded regulation and frivolous class action lawsuits. Think about it, even if you do get to participate in a class action, it destroys a company resulting in higher prices for you, and for what payout? You and a bunch of people get a few bucks, the lawyers make millions, and the company could be crippled beyond the point of no return. Is it really worth it?   46:10 - I have some very brief thoughts about the Kyle Rittenhouse situation. Not a huge amount to say but I know some people have been waiting to hear my opinion.    50:20 - We’re going to discuss the DHR Pronoun Toolkit that has just been sent out to doctors and hospitals in California. I am 100% here for you and your identity, however you want to live is your life. It’s just, we’re in a time of a global pandemic with tons of medical emergencies going on. It just seems like a weird time to start having 85 different identities for hospital patients. Again I’m not against people using their preferred pronouns, but in a hospital setting, it just seems like there are higher priorities than catering to peoples feelings. Let’s go over the whole list together. [Audio Quicktakes] What Is REALLY Happening With Your Credit? - OTE Podcast with John Mackey
Today, We’re talking to John Mackey, who is an expert on Credit Reset, Credit Education, FICO Scoring, and Debt Collection. We have a fascinating conversation about the things consumers often miss about understanding their credit, myths about the power of a ‘consumer credit score,’ and other serious financial issues going on in the United States What does FICO mean? How does it affect me? What is wrong with America’s dependance on Credit Karma? In so many situations, most consumers think that their Credit Karma score will help them buy a car or a house. Unfortunately, the truth is that Credit Karma just provides a ‘consumer score’ which basically rates your ability to get another credit card. These credit scores have nothing to do with other, much larger loans. Did you know there are 43 Credit Bureaus? There’s even one for Medical Debt. Why are they collecting this information? How are they profiting off of it? Hove you ever heard the advice to just ignore the Debt Collector? We discuss why this is terrible advice, and what exactly is going on behind the scenes regarding your money, your debt, and your financial reputation. Scott discusses a story with debt collectors that he is dealing with as we speak! What are the major components that go into crafting a good credit score? Why do credit pulls have such an impact on your credit score? What’s the difference between a hard pull and a soft pull?  55:10 - Why does your credit score go down when you pay it off early How do poor people get ahead in todays banking climate? Is all hope lost or is there some kind of solution to make what money you DO have grow? There seem to be two thoughts on how to live live, either save up and live poor your whole life, or live well and hope for the best. Do you think one is better than the other? Which makes more sense when considering the world of credit? Do you think education in the credit world is up to par with what it needs to be? What can we do to shift the mentality of Americans when it comes to debt and credit? It seems that there is a generational gap between those that save and the current consumers. [Audio QuickTakes] All About The Mosaic Life - The Happy Podcast with Trey Kauffman
Today we’re talking with Trey Kauffman, host of the Mosaic Life Podcast. His podcast is all about happiness and how to find your version of it in your life. I’m so excited to have this positive change of pace on our show and share it with all of you!   What is the key to life and the secret to happiness? Trey outlines what his version of happiness means and what it means to you. Your version of happiness is not the same as everyone else, and that’s the first step to finding it.   Trey talks about his journey about removing things from his life that do not serve him, starting with drinking. It wasn’t because he had a problem, but just something to try. As time went on, it snowballed into more and more self discovery and success and is really what put this project in motion.    We discuss the pros and cons of being driven by ego. A book called ‘Ego Is The Enemy’ was part of the inspiration, and ego should not be ignored, but utilized.    Do happy people watch the news? How do you remain informed without going insane with all of the crazy opinions and interpretations of current events?   As Americans, it seems like we’ve moved away from the idea that we have a ‘higher purpose.’ Politics have split us and made us fearful of our neighbors more than ever, which is something we used to be able to control but we’ve forgotten that we as people CAN control this. When do you think the switch was made? How can we get along as human beings because, after all, we’re all more similar than we are different.    What have you learned about the power of having one on one conversations?  29:57 - Have you gotten any cool or useful tips on how not to go sane in this new age of being alone a lot more often?   What do you know about a ‘growth mindset?’  36:45 - Trey talks about the shift from listening to the radio to listening to podcasts. The radio, nor podcasts, were serving him. What are your takeaways from having your own podcasts?  44:50 - What is serving you well and what is not serving you well?   How does minimization translate to creating happiness? We’re all home a lot more, and have less ‘going out’ distractions, do you have any advice for making that change?   Check Trey's Podcast out at onemosaic.life, here on YouTube, and everywhere Podcasts are streamed   ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. [Audio Quicktakes] - Tilly Storm: Making America "Sleep Together" Again 😜
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! This week with On The Edge Podcast we’re talking with Certified Love, Sex & Intimacy Coach Tilly Storm. Normally, you would find the chapters of the podcast listed here for easy click-thru navigation, however due to the sensitive nature of the conversation, we will not be listing all of the subjects. WARNING: Sexually Mature Content. Raised Southern Baptist, Tilly was taught that desire was sinful and that sexuality was a source of shame. She had internalized these messages and didn’t begin questioning them until after freebirthing her first baby at 23. By the time she was 27, she was divorced with two kids, feeling frustrated because she could only orgasm in one way, was uncomfortable with her body, and bumping up against the limits to her pleasure. Tilly realized there must be more to sex than this!  So began her long journey researching ways that one could feel more confident and comfortable in their body and the bedroom. Tilly voraciously devoured every book she could get her hands on about sexuality, signed up for a class that taught her the jade egg practice--which led to a kundalini awakening, and to her becoming multi-orgasmic--and learned the sacred art of tantra. Working seven years as a doula shed light on the struggles that women have with their sexuality when moving through transformational life events, such as giving birth, menopause and divorce, and ingrained cultural and religious messages. Seeing these issues, and having worked through her own sexual challenges and hangups, she was inspired to assist other women in doing the same and help them to reclaim their desire, reignite the flow of their sexual energy and connect to their divine feminine essence. Tilly used this inspiration to go from a $20,000/year birth doula, to building a six figure coaching business in the span of two years. Now she is a world-renowned expert in the Tantric and Toaist arts, helping individuals and couples change their narratives around sexuality, move through their blocks to pleasure and increase their confidence and connection, helping them step into their power and authenticity in the bedroom and beyond.   Tilly is a proud American, doting mother of two amazing boys, and devoted romantic partner. Her no-nonsense attitude, traditional family values, belief in hard work, meritocracy and personal responsibility, and willingness to speak the truth at all costs sets her apart in a field dominated by the enshrinement of victimhood culture, the overuse of ‘safe spaces’ and the fear of saying anything that might upset or offend someone. Tilly is assisting in creating a world where everyone has access to feeling and experiencing their body and sexuality as sacred and pleasurable, and where relationships strengthen and grow because individuals and couples have the tools and understanding to come (and cum) together despite differences in sexual preferences and libidos. Tilly has helped everyone from marriage and family therapists, religious practitioners and high level executives/entrepreneurs to strippers, single moms and couples married for decades to finally own and embrace their sexuality, become multiorgasmic, reignite passion and desire in long term relationships, and even have their own spiritual awakening, initiating individuals into the inner sanctum of the sacred, tantric arts.

Tilly Storm: Making America "Sleep Together" Again 😜
[Audio Quicktakes] What is AN ACCREDITED INVESTOR & Why Wealth Management Is So Important - On The Edge Podcast
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Why do ACCREDITED INVESTORS get access to investments that rest of us don't have access to? WHAT is an accredited investor? Why do ACCREDITED INVESTORS make greater returns with LESS RISK. We've got the guy to answer those questions!!! Frederick is an accomplished entrepreneur with more than 25 years of success spanning financial services and technology. He is responsible for founding Creative Capital Wealth Management Group, growing the firm to 15 states, and building a unique retainer-based wealth management program. He also president of Retainer-based Academy LLC, a coaching and intellectual property firm.  Frederick is an innovative leader with a keen eye for unique solutions and vast knowledge in alternative wealth creation strategies. He received his Behavioral Financial AdvisorTM, BFATM for short, certification as of July 2018. As a seasoned board member Frederick has held board positions with Phoenixville Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation, Rotary, Kiwanis, LGBT Equality Alliance, the Phoenixville Senior Center, Cornerstone for Hope, Phoenixville Area Community Services, and the West Chester School of Business Advisory Council. He is married to Elizabeth, has nine-year-old twins James and Abigail. His hobbies include technology, cigars, eagles’ football, and cars (mostly Tesla). Why do Ivy League Universities need to invest? The investments in colleges go toward their foundations and scholarship programs, and also the investments keep their accreditation status. There are only a few business that qualify to be in an upper tier of status, and many of these colleges sit in this category. WHAT is an ACCREDITED INVESTOR?  For a person to be accredited, you need to have a certain amount of income or net worth to qualify. Once you qualify for accreditation, the world of investing really opens up to you. As Frederick explains, it’s like being in the same restaurant but you get a different menu when it comes to investing. What is retainer based planning? What does your company do that makes it unique from other investment companies? Scott clarify’s exactly what Fredericks company does and he puts it into simple terms. Learn about the advice they give to their clients, which help them invest their money properly while keeping their current investments in themselves active. Things like your business and 401K remain the same, but other income can be dispersed more effectively for passive investment. When you bring an accredited investor idea to a client, what exactly are you referring to? What are these investments and why haven’t most people heard of them yet? Who can access them? How does inflation play a role in investing these days? It seems everything is at an all time high, so how do you decide what to invest in? It’s hard to ‘buy low’ these days so where do you find your in? Frederick provides some examples on how the rich are investing their money to remain in the upper tier of society, and how they can infinitely increase their holdings based on making the right investments. Frederick further explains the benefits of being a AAA accredited investor, and what you can and can’t invest in UNLESS you’re in this group. Frederick explains the concept behind the (so far non-existent) “Debt Jubilee.” Frederick goes over some life stories that led him to the conclusion to always say Yes when provided with an opportunity. ------------ Quickly- I'm Scott Groves - Husband, Father, Loan Officer, Coach, Author, Podcaster, and Recent Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.   This podcast is paid for and brought to you by.... by me, Scott Groves :-)

[Audio Quicktakes] The Guns N Roses Podcast - Episode 43
This week our guest is Jason Porrath, who has an amazing podcast called '50 First Gigs' where he chronicles the beginnings of Guns n Roses! Who is Mark Canter? Mark was the “Angel Investor” for Guns n Roses, aka the first roadie, the first investor, the first photographer, and in a way the first fan. Without Mark Canter, there wouldn’t be a Guns n Roses. The way he first connected with Slash is a classic gnr story. Mark Canter took a ton of pictures and video of Guns n Roses, and they have sat in storage until very recently. Because of the 50 First Gigs Podcast and Reckless Road book, they are finally being seen by the fans. Mark trusted Jason with this process of bringing this valuable content to the public.  We discuss the beginnings of the book and how it evolved into the project that exists today. Why was Los Angeles the epicenter of music in the 1980’s? It seems that punk, classic rock, hair metal, new wave, hip hop, rap, and several other genres were centered on the Sunset Strip and other parts of Los Angeles. Why was this happening, and why specifically in Los Angeles? What role did KROQ play in all of this? A discussion about Axel Rose and his road to releasing Chinese Democracy with his newly formed ‘Guns n Roses’ band. We talk about the changes the band went through, especially regarding Axel Rose and Slash. Guns n Roses still has a grip on fans today, old and new, and we discuss why that might be. There are fans in their teenage years as well as lifelong fans, and very few bands still have that influence. The book originally released was an ‘enhanced book,’ which was part of the reason the book was able to get published in the first place. With today’s prevalence of Podcasts, we are given the opportunity to have a new era of learning the bands history. Jason’s original vision was to have a Netflix style documentary, however it was going to be impossible to get the music rights for it. We discuss the production and story that Jason wants to tell with the series. How did it all come together to tell this story of Guns n Roses origins? As of now, the podcast isn’t making any money, so it was a matter of finding fans to come together and volunteer to build it. This also helped because Jason was able to make sure the content they were creating was content that the fans wanted. Jason tells the story of how this all came together, what content he had to build from, and where it all came from. Scott asks if the 2005 interviews from Guns n Roses still exist. We learn about them, and what their role will be in the 50 First Gigs Podcast. Right now, the podcast is only available on Patreon. The reason for that is because it needs to be funded by the fans. It’s not about making money, it’s about funding the project in the first place. What is compelling you to create this history of Guns n Roses? Why is it so important to provide this information for the fans?

[Audio Quicktakes] What Is A Property Syndicate
This is an abbreviated version of our full podcast, also available here! Today we’re talking with Property Syndicate Manager Andrew Cushman! Join us for this enlightening conversation on a method of investing that few people even consider, instead going with the classic forms of investment via stocks or real estate purchases. 1:00 - What is a property syndicate? How is this different from just buying some real estate and going from there? What is your role as the ‘leader’ of the syndicate? 4:50 - What are some of the key differences with closing on a $50 Million property? Is it different than closing on a ‘normal priced’ property? We get some pretty crazy answers and numbers here! 8:00 - How do you know that you’re under-contract for the right properties? These are huge investments, how are you sure that they aren’t going to go south? 13:00 - What’s the #1 disqualifies that you see on these large purchases? 28:30 - Why is the sponsor, or the ‘who’ so important? What does cash-flow have to do with a purchase or what the books look like. What role does management play in the value of a property? 34:00 - On the $50 Million property investment, what kind of jump in value did you see? Was there a jump at all? Did the rent increase at all? How do you actually get the added value in the property? 39:00 - What about the investors? What kind of interest or dividends do you see projected for your clients? 43:30 - What is the ‘black swan’ event that can cause returns to diminish on these property investments? What are the ramifications for large scale loss potentials? For example, this last year the federal government allowed people to not pay rent. Did this affect the way you operate your business? Is it actually be better to be part of a syndicate in this situation or just a single property owner? 51:50 - How many properties do you manage? Is this a situation where an investor can just provide the money and ‘set it and forget it?’ What work is required by the investors? 55:00 - Why is there hesitation in going into a property syndicate versus investing in the stock market? Do property syndicates have a bad reputation? Why is the stock market seemingly preferred when you do a bit of research? 1:03:30 - Have you ever lost money in your investments? What’s the worst syndicate you’ve been involved with? 1:08:14 - What is your plan for the next economy downturn? It will happen eventually, is property syndication sustainable through a downturn? 1:19:30 - What is the minimum for an investor to join your syndicate? How about minimum net worth or income to be considered for joining? What is a 506-B? What is a 506-C? 1:23:50 - What’s up with the Evergrande real estate problem with the Chinese Government? Does it have any reprocuctions here in the USA? What do you think will happen with that?

This Week In Media - Scott's Thoughts - OTE Podcast Episode 41
It’s time for Scott’s Thoughts! 2:06 - Let’s go over some of the current events that have at least interested me. First off I wanted to say that I think it’s cool that it seems Americans are on the rebound as US Household wealth has appeared to rise to record highs in the 2nd quarter of 2021. This doesn’t seem to be reported on much, as most of the news focuses on those that unfortunately have not experienced the wealth as much as others. 10:30 - I’ve been organizing my ‘desktop’ on the computer my entire life. I found an article about how Google has effectively killed the folders and organization because searching has become so common now. There’s a screenshot in the article you can’t miss showing a desktop that would literally kill me. 14:50 - Disney’s Flight of the Navigator is being remade by the Mandalorian Director Bryce Dallas Howard. All I really want to say about these Disney remakes is, I don’t understand why all of the movies from our childhood need to change the lead character to a strong female. I think it would be much cooler if the children of our generation have role models to follow in new and original stories. That way we can share some memories together about something new. 20:35 - I’ve been reading a lot of uncomfortable books that I’m probably not allowed to list in these notes, but one that’s gained my attention is called The Tragedy of the Commons. The idea is that if something is available for everyone, you should utilize as much of it as possible to better yourself, to a fault. Everybody else should as well, which ultimately leads to depletion of resources. This is an ongoing scholastic debate that’s been talked about for at least the last 50 years. Anyway, it turns out that he was apparently a racist, among some other faults, so naturally, people are questioning everything he studied in the first place. Naturally, his faults as a human make him completely un-trustworthy and now all of his research is being disputed. Why? Why can’t we focus on his contributions to the world while recognizing his faults instead of cancelling everything? Our friend Jumane talked about this in a previous On The Edge episode that can be found here: https://youtu.be/Tk3ppc9Kqfo 33:34 - Time to talk about Biden! I’m starting with the debt ceiling issue going around, and don’t get me wrong. I think the Republicans are completely hypocritical saying they’re the party of being conservative while they spend like drunken sailors. At least the Democrats admit to what they’re doing. And what they’re doing this week is attempting to restructure tax rates to include more Americans. They are even calling people that make over $600K “millionaires,” which, if you’ve passed 3rd grade math, you know is incorrect. I feel that if everything they want to pass this week does, this number will creep lower and lower. I think the corporate tax rate should be 0 dollars. As a corporation, you are already taxed quite a bit, from paying out employees, to product purchases, and other reasons. The current administration wants to raise corporate taxes by 7% but do you think these corporations are going to just take a 7% hit? No, their prices will go up by at LEAST 7%. Welcome to one of the main causes of inflation. Additionally, who can’t afford a 7% increase in the cost of goods? Here’s a hint…it’s the same people the administration is trying to ‘help’ by raising taxes. 55:40- There is a proposal for the federal government to be able to audit mobile money transfer apps that have more than $600 in transfers per year. $600! This is pretty much anybody that uses these services. This is potentially huge for privacy laws here in the USA. If this actually passes, where does the evolution end up? With your actual bank account? Why not, right? Why does the government even need to know where I spend my money? Why do they care?

An Interview With Scott Groves - What Drives Me
So this week will be a little different. I sat down for an interview a couple years ago with Mike Eaton about my motivation for being a coach, to recap my thoughts on the mortgage business, and to look into my crystal ball and see what 2020 and 2021 would bring in the business and mortgage worlds. Was I right?   I wanted to do something special for our 40th episode and I can't think of a better way than to let you all get to know me a little better.   If you'd like to learn more about what drives me to be a coach and succeed at what I do, then light up a cigar and join me for this great interview!

California Recall, Afghanistan, CoronaNumbers, Guns N' Roses Update! - Scott's Thoughts
Welcome to another episode of Scott’s Thoughts! Today we’ll be talking about an AWESOME upcoming guest that we have booked, some follow-up conversation about Afghanistan, and my thoughts post-recall election in California.    1:03 - As many of you know I’m a HUGE Guns N’ Roses fan, and there is a great podcast out there called “The First 50 Gigs.” It can only be found on Patreon and I highly recommend listening to it, as I have. I also reached out to the creator who is often referred to as ‘The 6th Member of Guns N’ Roses’ and long story short, we’ll be talking to him on the Podcast shortly! Stay tuned!   6:30 - I wanted to talk a little bit about the ‘Pineapple Express’ group that was working in Afghanistan. It’s a group of ex-military members that banded together to create a special forces team in Afghanistan that worked ‘outside the wire’ to rescue people. The Atlantic has a fantastic story about the whole situation that many people may not know about. As of right now, we don’t know much.    From what we do know right now, though, is that it seems like it might be setting a dangerous precedent for what the government is able to do without letting us know they’re actually doing it. I think the implications can be felt at home with our own laws and regulations sooner than later.    13:28 - Everybody pretty much has their mindset on what’s going on with the coronavirus situation, we’ve all read the numbers, and we are all concerned about what we’re going to be concerned about. You can be banned from one group and welcomed into others depending on your thoughts, and it just keeps progressing.    I wanted to give another shout-out to The Atlantic for their great read about the numbers of Coronavirus, and regardless of their politics, I agree with what this article has to say. People don’t seem to care about the numbers anymore.   29:21 - My big rant of the night is of course about the recent Recall Election in California. My biggest issue is that the entire campaign was based on more of a National story instead of, you know, California. I think there’s a dangerous trend of local events becoming national events and the influence of the nation plays too much of a role in everything. Part of the magic of the United States is that there is probably a state that aligns with your politics, and ultimately you should probably live there. These days, it seems like everybody wants to spew their way of life, whether it be left or right, all over the nation without respecting where they are targeting.    A prime example of this is the Texas Abortion Law, and I go into detail about my thoughts about that. In short, it’s Texas’s problem and Texans have a choice as to whether or not they want to embrace it.    Reminder: Everything I talk about here at On The Edge Podcast is my opinion and while I use the most reliable sources for my information as I can find, I highly encourage you to look up the information on your own and draw your own conclusions.    Our Most Reliable Pandemic Number Is Losing Meaning: https://medium.com/the-atlantic/our-most-reliable-pandemic-number-is-losing-meaning-cc8ad63b293b

[Audio Quicktakes] 7 Steps To Be A Better Leader - On The Edge Podcast with Nicole Jansen
This week our guest is Transformational Leadership Coach Nicole Jansen. With her company Leaders of Transformation, she helps people do just that, transform in even better leaders and better version fo themselves. This podcast is going to focus on self improvement, leadership strategies, and how one becomes a "coach!" No ‘edgy’ politics this time. However, after listening to today’s episode, you’ll have a good feel for what a top notch coach can do for aspiring leaders. Are we facing a leadership crisis? It seems that more and more leaders aren’t seeking to lead, they are trying to win. They have their own agenda to further themselves instead of whatever goal they originally set out with. What do you think caused it and what can fix it? I have the world’s longest patience fuse but when I blow, I don’t handle it very well. How do you not just explode at people you are working with that just aren’t getting it? How do you gracefully get past your breaking point? What can leaders do to regain trust that they’ve previously lost? In a day and age where leaders try to change the subject and deny the past instead of owning up to their mistake, are we past the point of no return with leaders rebuilding their integrity? 7 Steps To Be A Better Leader - On The Edge Podcast with Nicole Jansen
8:00 - How do we get over the failures of our teenage years and our 20’s? Most of us have had some kind of devastating thing happen to us whether it be getting fired, not being able to pay rent or something else. Those experiences shape us when we get older in life, but how can we make those a positive in order to create a better life experience? 18:00 - Are we facing a leadership crisis? It seems that more and more leaders aren’t seeking to lead, they are trying to win. They have their own agenda to further themselves instead of whatever goal they originally set out with. What do you think caused it and what can fix it? It may surprise you to know that polls are meant to divide us, by the way. You may feel some unity in identifying with the ‘majority’ in the poll, but really, it’s meant to plant the seed of another idea in your head, that maybe you’re wrong, that maybe you don’t agree with your neighbor or community. 31:30 - Our parents grew up in a transformative period and it resulted in many of us perhaps being taken care of a little more than we should have been. Is this creating a scenario where there is no real leadership being taught? 43:25 - Have you ever noticed that ‘new’ ideas on how to better ourselves are just ideas that have been pushed from basically all religious institutes since the beginning of time? Is meditation really that much different than prayer? Why do we think we need to reinvent the wheel all the time? 54:30 - I have the world’s longest patience fuse but when I blow, I don’t handle it very well. How do you not just explode at people you are working with that just aren’t getting it? How do you gracefully get past your breaking point? 1:02:50 - The best thing you can do in a heated argument is to breathe and bring yourself out of the situation. Remember, it’s not about you, it’s about people expressing their opinions. Don’t ruin a friendship or a business relationship over something trivial! 1:14:45 - What can leaders do to regain trust that they’ve previously lost? In a day and age where leaders try to change the subject and deny the past instead of owning up to their mistake, are we past the point of no return with leaders rebuilding their integrity? [Quick Takes] Creating A Team For The Self Employed - On The Edge Podcast with C-Roc
This is an abbreviated version of the full podcast, also available here! Our guest this week is serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Blooprinted. Blooprinted is all about connecting mentors and mentees to give them a detailed blueprint on how to accomplish any given task.  This is the next evolution of the ‘masterclass’ - with built in accountability and support from the creator. One of my favorite things about C-Roc is that he’s humble yet eccentric, which is a tough thing to pull off these days, especially in the online world. He explains how he navigates this odd world. We have critics all around us, our coworkers, friends, and even family are always the biggest ‘what-iffers’ when trying to start a new idea. The truth is, that you are your own biggest critic. Overcoming this step is one of the most important things you’ll do in your life. “All people are unstoppable at living their dreams.” C-Roc talks about the process of “10xing” your goals. Instead of backing off and compromising like most people do, you should be doubling your goals. Then quadrupling. Then going for the 10x. What does it take to COMMIT to success over failure? With so much going on, how do you prioritize what to fully commit to?  18:35 - C-Roc talks about how Blooprinted works, and how it enables creators / architects to create their business while benefiting from a community of other creators to help and support them along the way. C-Roc has a different concept of team. What does that mean to him? What should a team be instead of our current concepts? Here’s a hint, it’s not a competition. We should be working together to achieve success for everyone. What is next after Blooprinted? Serial Entrepreneurs always have a next plan, and a plan after that. What’s yours? -------------   New Full Episodes are released every THURSDAY at 10:00am and clips are released frequently throughout the week.     -------------   Thank you for checking out the Podcast.
