The me-Phone
One day a new type of phone that you could use to call yourself appeared on the market. All one had to do was dial a certain number and one would be connected straight away with oneself. The quality of the reception was so good that the voice on the other end of the line sounded as if it was coming from the very same room.

Writing Midrash for the Book of Ruth
My husband Milton and I will lead a Midrash writing group based on The Book of Ruth, the Hebrew Bible’s shortest book, actually a short story. In ancient times, rabbis wrote elaborations on biblical lines as if they were writing prompts. Midrashim, from the Hebrew root “daras” meaning “expound, ”are imaginative extensions of biblical texts that fill in whatever the author senses can be added to extract deeper meanings.

TRAIN INTO THE VALLEY OF MADNESS E:8
By Donald H Roberts
Trevor Morris ran. He had no idea where he was going. All he cared about was Anna. They had boarded the train together. They were just married. She could not have died a year ago, they had only met six months before getting married.

The TRAIN into the Valley of MADNESS Episode 7
The night dropped down upon the valley floor like a deep dark cloud falling from the sky, and though the stars still shone bright shards of lightning streaked across the heavens like jagged swords. The wind howled like a chorus of banshees, and somewhere off down the canyon, out of the valley, steel screeched on steel and countless souls screamed in horror.

Train Into The Valley of Madness: E6
Trevor stood there staring at Anna, rather where Anna had been standing just seconds ago. The valley was alive with activity again but now he was alone. Anna had simply vanished. Then, a moment later the Conductor approached him. He inquired cautiously, “Is there a problem Trevor?”

Train into the Valley of Madness : Episode 5
Lassiter Leeks eyed everyone like they were staring at him. His conscience was playing games and his mind, he thought was breaking. None of this was supposed to happen. He didn’t have luggage. Everything he needed would be in a SUV on the road above the Valley. It had all been arranged. Now all he had to do was make like he was going sightseeing up one of the trails and disappear into the wilderness…at least that is what it was supposed to look like.

Train into the Valley of Madness: All Aboard!
The ancient steam locomotive chugged into the station. The seven passenger cars emitted dozens of chattering, cheerful, grumpy, and noisy passengers with a hundred different versions of their experience aboard the Valley Of Dreams tour train. When the platform cleared the five passenger cars were removed and next group climbed into the remaining two passenger cars. A typical manifest for the final tour of the season.

I WROTE THE STORY OF MY LIFE BUT NEVER ONCE DID I STOP TO READ IT
Words, plots, characters gushed out of me yet never once did I take the time to see if the words were apt; if the plot had inner consistency; if the characters were realistic and likeable.

DATING CAN BE MURDER…a true story
It’s been three days since I woke up, naked on a park bench. Well nearly naked, save a hospital gown, where I exposed my birthday suit to anyone who wanted a free peep show. I remember opening my eyes and having a splitting headache and a blood soaked bandage affixed to my wrist.

Grandpa’s Writing Legacy
After my grandfather’s death, I helped my mother sort through her father’s trunk. Stuck inside were ration cards from the early 1900s with pencil scribbles in his familiar hand. Written no doubt during WWI by firelight and faded almost beyond recognition.

Why Host a Book Launch Party?

Writing Biographies for Inspiration
Writing Biographies For Inspiration, by SHARON LEDER
I learned that Christina Rossetti, like me, became a bolder writer when she herself wrote biographies, poetic ones called monologues. She wanted to go beyond the bounds of “women’s writing”-- romantic lyrics, nature poems, and devotional hymns.
