Cases were then reported in the United States an across the globe, with the World Health Organization eventually declaring the outbreak a public health emergency. What's the Deal With Aducanumab?

New and effective therapies are sorely needed for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Dementia. When the FDA approved the first new drug for Alzheimer’s Dementia in 18 years though, it was met with unprecedented criticism from experts in the fields of neurology and gerontology. So, what’s the deal with aducanumab? Join us and panelists Ashley Campbell, Pharm.D., BCPS and Shannon Rice, Pharm.D., BCGP, as we discuss the data behind aducanumab’s efficacy, safety, and whether or not this medication should be used as a standard in clinical practice.

Gloria Cheng, Phar.D., BCPS, APh graduated with her Pharm.D. from the University of California, San Francisco in 2012. After completing her Pharmacy Practice residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center was hired on to work there as a clinical pharmacy specialist. Over time she found she wanted to use her training to make macro, organizational level changes. She broke through in to an administrative role and is now a pharmacy clinical coordinator with Comprehensive Pharmacy Services! Not long after graduating, Lieutenant Commander Emily Winans, Pharm.D., a pharmacist and commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) got a job doing just that! Dr. Winans graduated from West Virginia University in 2011 and, after a brief stint working the community setting, commissioned as an officer in the USPHS. The USPHS is one of the eight uniformed services in the United States government, tasked with promoting the health and safety of the country. Join us as we talk with Lieutenant Commander Winans about how she got to where she is today!

He now serves as a Clinical Toxicologist and Director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center. Jaci Karpen, Pharm.D., CSPI earned her doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona in 2015. She now serves as a certified specialist in poison information at the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center.
