Tackle Your Most Pressing Daily Tasks. Save Your Time, Save Your Life.
Tackle Your Most Pressing Daily Tasks. Save Your Time, Save Your Life.
Commit To Less And Less: The main source of anxiety and overwhelm comes from how we manage our expectations of ourselves especially in front of others. We find it difficult to say no, either because we don’t want to disappoint the other person, or because we fear repercussions. And when it comes to taking up tasks, and filling up our calendars, some of us feel special excitement in keeping ourselves busy all the time. We’re constantly checking off all the boxes in a timely fashion, and performing for others instead of living for ourselves. But, one way to look at our greedy selves wanting company desperately is because we simply can’t stand having tough conversations with our own selves. The problem is we live like we will live forever, when the reality is that our time on this earth is the thing we absolutely cannot be sure of. There’s a great need to simplify irrationally. Because micro decisions are mostly the reason for overwhelm. And when we think of our lives with the urgency of our imminent mortality, we can start to see things clearly. We can begin to appreciate how in fact time is really a very limited resource of ours. Read more HERE.

Progress not Perfection. Why Embracing Our Imperfections Makes Us Stronger.
Progress Not Perfection: Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, but he also filed some 2300 other patents in his lifetime, majority of which remained obscure and unimpressive inventions. Bottom line, be free of judgment – of what you should be doing and where you should be at on the path. Keep moving without applying the brakes of self-doubt. Your daily assignment is incomplete? Submit it. Your hair is messy? Be kind to it. Your kids are raising themselves? Thank them for their compassion and understanding. Have a looming deadline. Communicate your situation to the party who’s expecting results. Everyone understands. Read more HERE.

Parents Here Are Words And Actions That Can Help Propel Your Child’s Self Confidence
The Golden words that every child should hear: As adults, we don’t consciously draw a line at where we will stop in pushing our children. Its when we as parents don’t strike a balance with our expectations, our children suffer. Once in a while, tell your child, “Sweetheart, you’re good enough.” Irrespective of whether they seem to be listening or not, tell your child over and over again, “I believe in you. My goal is to see you realize your highest potential.” Here are a few strategies that we can practice while enabling our children to follow their potential and achieve their goals. Read more HERE.

Affluent Parents Are At Risk Of Raising Children Who Can’t Cope On Their Own
Affluent Parents Are At Risk Of Raising Children Who Can’t Cope On Their Own
Tech parents love their children more than they love their customers: Children of Big Tech entrepreneurs from eBay, Apple, Uber and Google attend Waldorf schools – where technology is not allowed on campus or in classrooms. Waldorf schools teach complicated concepts like the Sciences and math using story telling, hands-on activities and play. Their Wikipedia page says, “The overarching goal is to develop free, morally responsible, and integrated individuals equipped with a high degree of social competence.” This is an excerpt from a The Times article written by British political journalist Alice Thomson, “Melinda Gates’ children did not have smart phones until they turned 14 and only used computer in the kitchen. Her husband Bill spends hours in his office reading books. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg says he wants his daughters to read Dr. Seuss and play outside rather than use Messenger Kids. Even Steve Jobs strictly limited his children’s use of technology at home. The more money you can make out of the tech industry, the more you appear to shield your family from its effects.” Read more HERE.

What Is Missing? First, thanks to our personal devices, we’re living lonelier and more fragmented lives. What has happened to the concept of our collective potential? Second, there is so much help all around in the form of physical sports activities and mathnasiums to help our children shine in schools. There are metrics that can tell us how their grades are and which skills he needs to be working on. But, we need infrastructure in the area of developing our children’s emotional and social wellbeing. Why Fragility Of The Mind Is Dangerous, And How To Build Yourself Unbreakable Resilience
Why Fragility Of The Mind Is Dangerous, And How To Build Yourself Unbreakable Resilience
Attitude Matters In Times Of Uncertainty:   Whatever might be the problem, here are some cold hard facts. The world will always keep changing and we will always have problems. That’s the only constant in our lives. Then why not think solutions and not worry about problems. Why not think of the next steps ahead of us instead of mulling over the persistent condition? Let’s start with thinking of ourselves as problem solvers. That’s an empowering thought. Now, let’s internalize this. “I’m down for anything. That’s just easy instead of fighting everything.” When faced with an adversity, challenge or catastrophic situation, thinking of what we can do instead of what could have been is going to be imperative. Self Care 101: Men And Women Must Practice Self-Love & Honor Their Life's Journey
Self Care 101: Men And Women Must Practice Self-Love & Honor Their Life's Journey
Imagine you’re trapped inside a burning building and the heat from the engulfing fire is almost killing you. But, you’ve an opportunity to save just one person. Who will it be? If you answered your 85 year old next door neighbor, it’s official, you’re a saint. You’ll forever be praised for your martyrdom. Well, the rest of us common folks will jump the hell out of the building to save our asses that are on fire. That’s just how much we really love ourselves. I’m not talking about the kind of narcissistic selfie love that a few of us seem to exhibit while making duck, fish and other shapes with our faces while in the bathroom or in the car. Now, that’s just bizarre. Jokes apart, have you ever caught yourself off-guard by your own kindness towards others? That surprising way in which you’re so respectful and patient towards complete strangers on the street. And then you come home and get into extreme self judgment mode and turn on the inner monologue rant of how you’ll never meet your own expectations about yourself. How does it feel when you can’t feel your arms hug you and extend themselves to pat you on the back for living through one more day of working yourself to extinction?

Create Mental Speed Bumps. Ask Deep Questions. Stay Motivated.
Be Your Own Mental Warrior: Inspite of our trying our best, sometimes two kinds of thoughts are usually persistent. One that’s directed inward. “Can I do this? Am I capable of living a better life?” The answer is simple, have you tried doing something about it, like a 1000 times before giving up? The second one is directed outward. “What will others think of me?” OK, this one is a good one. Sorry to burst your self obsession bubble, but I’m equally busy not really thinking about you. LOL. If you’re 40, you have less than 14000 days left of your life, assuming you will live upto the current American life expectancy of 78 years old. But, nothing’s lost yet. Because, inspite of everything, you are here. You’re alive. So you must not just survive, but thrive. What are you waiting for? Take the reigns and charge ahead! In the end, I want you to ask yourself “How badly do I want to live a good life?” Read more HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/how-to-stay-motivated-inspite-of-bitterness-disappointment-and-low-self-esteem/

Victim Mindset: Ditch The Excuses And Take Ownership Of Your Wonderful Life
Victim Mindset: Ditch The Excuses And Take Ownership Of Your Wonderful Life
Why We Fail: Many of us carry a wrong perception of failure. We often take it as a final sign before we give up on our goals and aspirations. We see it as an irreversible milestone that has put a stop to our forward momentum. What we don’t realize is that often times, we haven’t prepared enough for the task at hand. Or we haven’t used the tools at our disposal correctly. A needle can be used to repair, or stitch a brand new suit. Likewise, we can use technology as a means of distraction and entertainment and not to our advantage as a tool for learning and growth. Here are the ways we can rethink failure and become unstoppable. Read more HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/redefine-failure-and-become-unstoppable/

The Truth About Technology And Ways To Digital Detox
The Truth About Technology And Ways To Digital Detox
Remember guys, Notifications are like dirty laundry. You’re allowed to let them pile up. Lack of physical connection is manifesting in adults needing attention via their TikTok videos and teens sharing their despair over SnapChat and Instagram. Until we can ease back ourselves into the real world without trepidation, our online lives must sustain our wellbeing. ONE: We confuse digital cheers for connection. TWO: We confuse 24/7 connectivity for deep communication. THREE: This is a big one. We confuse arm chair activism for civic engagement. To read more, CLICK HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/rethinking-our-online-behaviors-to-sustain-our-wellbeing/ Some great news that was promised by Instagram is actually being put into action starting this week. Going forward, the platform, famous for curated posts by influencers, will be making the number of likes on posts invisible. It’s time for other coveted symbols of social validation, like the blue verification check marks that can give us insecurity of our personal worth, to go. Of course, our celebrities are already starting to worry that it might be taking away their power to show off their reach to fan bases. But, for the rest of us mere mortals who barely get by with 5 likes a day, it’s good for our mental health. Don’t you think? Double tap if you like. ;) For more on Digital Detox practices, CLICK HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/how-to-practice-digital-minimalism/

Instead Of Chasing Happiness, Pursue These Timeless Qualities Of Your Personal Wellbeing
My definitions of success and joy are my own and I must not forget how I will be remembered. I must work daily on retaining my originality, my integrity and my undying resilience. And I must self-preserve if I have to strive for freedom, justice and equality for our future generations. I must not give up and not wait for another moment to buy a meal for anyone less fortunate than I am. Yes, I can feel unbridled joy even in the middle of social isolation. Like Nature that is continuous, eternal and unyielding, I can seek refuge in my present moment. Even in the presence of a pandemic with no end in sight. Say This Not That. Discipline Children By Connecting First And Imposing Rules Later.
Say This Not That. Discipline Children By Connecting First And Imposing Rules Later.
Words Matter:  Believe it or not, having rules, expectations and boundaries to follow, makes children feel loved and protected. Without rules, they begin to question if they even matter to us. Parenting is of two types usually. Permissive parenting is where the parent is less controlling and willing the child to fail and learn on their own. On the extreme, the child is usually indulged in whatever he or she desires. Authoritative parenting is where the parent is less likely to accommodate the child's wishes. There's usually a lot of discipline and less room to "play" under such strict conditions. There's a third kind, which is a blend of both. A parent can be indulgent and permissive as far as the child's wishes and desires are concerned. The parent can then try to show reason to the child and come to a common understanding. For example, the child wants an expensive gift and the parent can reason with him to consider a less expensive one. On the other side, the parent can also set expectations such as non-negotiable rules on certain types of unacceptable behaviors. For example, all electronic devices have to be put away by 9pm. What type of parent are you?

Here's A Bio Hack That Can Provide Sustenance And Propel Your Personal Growth
Here's A Bio Hack That Can Provide Sustenance And Propel Your Personal Growth
The Dichotomy Of Life & Our Existential Angst:   When our minds and hearts can’t put a finger on our deepest insecurities, a feeling called the existential angst is born. Unlike many of our seemingly fleeting emotions like sadness, hate and hurt, this feeling seems to linger around longer. It shows up as deep anxiety when we’re faced with uncertainty, and makes us battle our instincts and our intellect with gusto. Arthur Schopenhauer, a philosopher, wrote, ‘Man is the only animal which causes pain to others with no other objective than causing pain… No animal ever torments another for the sake of tormenting: but man does so, and it is this which constitutes the diabolical nature which is far worse than the merely bestial’. And that’s to say that for no apparent reason, we humans, choose to complicate our lives with purposefully inflicting suffering. One minute we’re reveling in food, entertainment and gossip, the next hour, we’re dwelling in life’s deepest mysteries, “Why are we here, what’s our purpose?” And these aha moments can even occur in the 4 boring seconds before the next Netflix recommendation starts playing. Read more HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/there-is-a-possibility-for-existential-angst-and-mindfulness-to-coexist/

Reasons Why We Fear Death People who don’t know what to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon want to live forever. That’s the lure of immortality. All throughout our lives, we strive for wealth, fame, knowledge and happiness. And we want to also live on forever so we can enjoy our lives. We want to avoid the inevitable, we fret about it and we feel abnormal about the most normal aspect of everyone’s lives – our death. Yet, inspite of all this, death is the greatest equalizer. So, instead of worrying about it, let’s focus on making the most of our time here with one another. Because in our quest for redeeming ourselves forever, we jeopardize the chance of the impact we can have in this world. Here’s what I missed out saying in the video. My apologies. We fear death because of two reasons primarily. Death is this unknown that will be the end of everything we can do. Death is the one that will take away from us everything we love and hold dear to us.

Think Violence And Hunger Are The Source Of Injustice To Children? Think Again.
Think Violence And Hunger Are The Source Of Injustice To Children? Think Again.
Years ago, there was an experiment that was conducted by an American Developmental Psychologist named Edward Tronik called the Still Face experiment. Children as young as 1 year old are put in front of their mother who suddenly in the middle of a play session turns insensitive and cold to their emotions and reactions. It's a cruel experiment to watch, even for those 2 minutes that it lasts, but the fight of the child to convey their emotions, intentions and reactions to their mother are truly gut wrenching. As parents of our modern busy world, we've so many things beckoning our attention in addition to our children. Children want to be seen and valued. The tender attention they seek can either build or the lack of it can crush their self-esteem. So much of how children are nurtured depends on the mental well-being of the parents, especially, the mother. Children thrive when the mother is physically fit, mentally strong, and emotionally available. Believe it or not, you can ignore the dirty dishes, piles of laundry and slimy kitchen floors to go outside and watch them cart wheel or bike yelling out their favorite songs. Because, no one can be a bad mother - only a good one or a spontaneous one. Whether it is intentional or unintentional, the emotional damage of parental neglect can be long lasting and life altering for children. Love is not just a want, it's an undeniable need for our children to thrive in this world. It is a tool in their social interaction toolkit that helps children process their emotions and helps them deconstruct how they're feeling and why they feel the way they do. So, once in a while, let's put those phones away to really engage with them.

Lose Yourself In Deep Wonder. Mindfulness Lessons For Parents From Their Children.
Lose Yourself In Deep Wonder. Mindfulness Lessons For Parents From Their Children.
What Children teach us about Mindfulness: Children are mindful creatures. Their definition of daily success is simplistic and filled with bursts of creativity. Being present with them teaches us to be childlike with our thinking. a. They don't rule anything out.  b. They take baby steps never answering anything big and overwhelming.  c. They go for the obvious rather than over-complicate every situation. d. They have no preconceptions or biases. Read more HERE. https://futurestrong.org/how-children-teach-us-to-be-mindful/

Our Duties And Our Work: Do They Make Us Prisoners Or Set Us Free?
Nuns Fret Not at Their Convent’s Narrow Room By William Wordsworth Nuns fret not at their Convent’s narrow room; And Hermits are contented with their Cells; And Students with their pensive Citadels; Maids at the Wheel, the Weaver at his Loom, Sit blithe and happy; Bees that soar for bloom, High as the highest Peak of Furness-Fells, Will murmur by the hour in Foxglove bells: In truth the prison, into which we doom Ourselves, no prison is: and hence for me, In sundry moods, ’twas pastime to be bound Within the Sonnet’s scanty plot of ground; Pleased if some Souls (for such there needs must be) Who have felt the weight of too much liberty, Should find brief solace there, as I have found.

Technology Creep Is Impacting Our Sanity And Our Productivity. It’s Time To Address It.
Technology Creep Is Impacting Our Sanity And Our Productivity. It’s Time To Address It.
Trust, Truth, And Technology:   Rabbit holes. Endless scrolls. That’s where we spend the majority of our waking hours – at the mercy of our smart phones and its endless content. There’s no better place to watch the dynamics of human behavior than on the internet these days. Because, we have all but stopped interacting with strangers anywhere else in real life. Just why are we addicted to Tech? Here are two basic reasons. 1. Humans, unlike animals, are driven by this intrinsic desire to fit in with other humans to have a sense of belonging. 2. Humans, unlike animals, like to have their beliefs and their understanding of the workings of the world validated. These natural instincts, that Big Tech companies understand so well, are the reason why we’ve naturally adopted the roles of compulsive clickers and swipers. Life First, Tech Next:   Be it class instructional time, watching YouTube videos for fun, or doing homework – Technology keeps creeping back up into our children’s lives from all directions. Be it the notifications on from your social accounts, breaking news alerts, or just the promise of “one episode only” of Netflix – Technology keeps creeping back into our adult lives. Combat Screen Creep in all forms. Become aware of how our temptations and distractions are impacting our mental sanity and our productivity. Checking emails or social feeds – do it with a self-awareness of what we want our lives to be defined as, because every single day counts to make up the entirety of our lives. Combat your own temptations before your combat your children’s screen creep.

Use Your Vocabulary To Be Your Agent For Positive Change In The World
Use Your Vocabulary To Be Your Agent For Positive Change In The World
Art As A Medium Of Expression: “…language is not merely a device for communicating ideas about the world, but rather a tool for bringing the world into existence in the first place. Reality is not simply ‘experienced’ or ‘reflected’ in language, but instead is actually produced by language.” Says Terence McKenna in his book, Food of the Gods. Somehow, art, as a medium of communication feels the same way as the spoken word. It’s a representation of our thoughts, our dreams and our wildest ambitions. The Importance Of Communication:  For most relationships to work, positive and nurturing communication is key. Communication is so important, especially the congruency of it, that it can mean life or death to most of our personal and professional relationships. Let’s see the characteristics of Congruent communication. * Active listening that seeks to validate the speaker’s feelings. * Restraint in a response until the speaker is done talking. * In times of conflict, it’s important to remember that the words of the speaker might be unacceptable, not the speaker themselves. * Keep in mind that the other person is equally capable of making sound decisions. * Setting clear expectations of behavior upfront.

The Skills Vs. Knowledge Debate Is Raging. But, Is It Relevant In Our Dynamic World?
The Skills Vs. Knowledge Debate Is Raging. But, Is It Relevant In Our Dynamic World?
Knowledge Economy And The Future Of Work: In this digital age of information overload, there is a greater need to teach our kids how to process information and how to make sense of it rather than giving them more information via curriculum. Technologies in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, UX (User experience) design are rapidly evolving. In fact, they are evolving at an exponential rate. As a workforce, if we want to stay relevant, we need to be constantly upskilling and reskilling ourselves. Knowledge is becoming cheaper and less important. In the near future, nobody will hire us because of what we know. We will be hired for our abilities to think, create and solve problems with what we know. Are We 21st Century Ready? Generation Z (those born between 1995 and 2015) has entered the workforce? Are they ready for it?! Here are the top 10 job market skills of 2020. Notice how none of them have anything to do with specific technology or hard skills. 1. Complex Problem Solving 2. Critical Thinking 3. Creativity 4. People Management 5. Coordinating with Others 6. Emotional Intelligence 7. Judgement and Decision Making 8. Service Orientation 9. Negotiation 10. Cognitive Flexibility Source: Future of Jobs Report, World Economic Forum, 2018. In A World Of Distraction Addictions, How Can We Make Focus Sustainable
Make Focus Sustainable: Focus sustainable is focus achievable. Before your sit down for deep work, go to the bathroom, don’t be hungry and run from your smartphone. It’s really that simple. Time box your essential tasks and leave some unstructured time for yourself for unforeseen emergencies. Simplify: The first step is to simplify your surroundings. Simplify the signals you are sending to your brain. Tame the monkey mind, in this case our conscious one which is eager to jump from one task to another not lasting even 3 minutes on each one of them. There Are Three Kinds Of Digital Age Parents. Which One Are You?
There Are Three Kinds Of Digital Age Parents. Which One Are You?
Kinds Of Digital Parenting: There are three kinds of Digital-age parents. Digital Enablers are those parents that live and let their children live. They love their technology and as a result their children are blessed with plenty of screen time. Their argument – this is the iGeneration, they have a different childhood than our own. We have to evolve with time or else we’ll be left in the dust. Digital Restrictors are maniacal about their children consuming too much tech or staying too long on their personal devices. They are acutely aware of all the conversations around the negative influences of technology on their anxiety, attention spans and productivity. They mostly take a “completely off” approach. But, can we really take back our kids to an era when we were kids? Will it help them thrive when so much around us is changing so rapidly? No, it’s not practical. Since technology is here to stay, let’s understand that it is not bad, but the way some of us are using it is. Digital Gatekeepers are parents who try to be digitally savvy while keeping up with their children’s evolving technology environment. By taking an active role in their lives, these digital-age parents enable children to understand the right ways to stay engaged in the real and online worlds. They strive for a healthy balance of both worlds.

How To Care For Yourself And Your Teen During A Forced Lockdown
How To Care For Yourself And Your Teen During A Forced Lockdown
What To Tell Our Children:    What we remember about the Covid might be drastically different than what our children will hold in their memories. While our schools are closing, we have no money and work, while we’re constantly running out of cleaning supplies and toilet paper, and almost dying a few times each day of burnout, our children are busy living each day as it unfolds. So, let’s get busy with them with hikes, picnics and making forts, all the things that they care about than those awful headlines that stare at us each day. There’s so much work to do anyway, where’s the time to fret? We must help them understand how the quality of their focus, their sleep and their digital lives will dictate the trajectory of their lives. We must teach them how to manage expectations, why having a strong personal value system is important and the real reason behind parental impatience and exhaustion. We must cultivate and nurture them so they develop into a curious, compassionate and good citizen of the community. So, as you’re navigating your daily grind, don’t forget to tell them how much they’re helping you preserve your sanity. A Time To Come Together: Can there be a blue print for something no one knows how to cope with? There might not be, but we can do a few things that can convert our irrational fears into tales of compassion. We can begin by peeling ourselves out of the burnout and becoming other focused. We can support those who’re living through grief and loss of loved ones. We can collapse under pressure or find joy in buying a meal from a friend’s restaurant because you know it won’t last long. And we can avoid media like the plague itself of become hedonistic and absurd with rage and keyboard courage. We can be irresponsible and contribute to the already full capacity morgues or show our gratitude to the front line folks like grocery shelf stockers and health care workers. By helping ourselves in this way, we can also develop a new perspective for our teens. Good luck.

Flexible Thinking And Leadership Agility. The Skills You Urgently Need To Be Workplace Ready.
Flexible Thinking And Leadership Agility. The Skills You Urgently Need To Be Workplace Ready.
Staying Relevant In A Volatile Landscape:   Without personal accountability and a deep-rooted interest in human connections, our work cannot drive the positive and global impact we intend for it to have. Without the right intentions and ethics, even the best tools in our hands can become weapons of mass destruction. In this digital age of information overload, there is a greater need to teach our kids how to process information and how to make sense of it rather than giving them more information via our curriculum. Knowledge is becoming cheaper and less important. In the near future, we will not be hired for what we know, but for our ability to harvest new ideas and solutions in ever changing technological landscapes. Embrace change, stay relevant. The Era of the Social Enterprise: People these days don’t want to only eke out a living like how they had to in the midst of war during the Industrial Revolution. We don’t want to just elevate their standard of living like with the latest Technology and Information revolution. Socially conscious enterprises – the ones that want to do the most social good, that have popped up in the past few years, are making us think of our own personal impact on the world. Most of us are now seeking meaning in “Why we do” in the “What we do” of our daily lives. We seek reward in improving the quality of our life and not just our standard of living. This is how the Future of our Work is going to look like. Read more HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/the-future-of-work-and-the-role-of-non-cognitive-skills/

Understanding The Key To Sustained Achievement In The Age Of Asynchronous Digital Learning
Understanding The Key To Sustained Achievement In The Age Of Asynchronous Digital Learning
Foster Problem Solving: If Covid has taught us an important lesson, it is that the world will always keep changing and we will always have problems. That’s the only constant in our lives. Let’s teach our children how to design solutions to problems. We must teach them how to face obstacles and find the self-motivation to keep going. We must expose them to adversity and not hide them from it. How long can we keep safeguarding them from real life anyway? Life is not perfect all the time and the sooner they know it, the better they’re ready for it. When faced with problems, giving them a perspective of the abundance they still have left is imperative. While arriving at a solution, the depth of their engagement and the journey are also part of the final solution. Pandemic Or Not, Our Future Is Uncertain:    Our children are growing up in a world very different from ours. The future will require for them to constantly adopt to unpredictable changes if they want to stay in the race. As with our Pandemic or not, we cannot predict the future for them, but we can give them an education and tools that becomes a roadmap of guidance for them. Knowledge is becoming cheaper and less important. In the near future, nobody will hire us because of what we know. We will be hired for our abilities to think and create with what we know. From personal accountability comes empowerment. A sense of empowerment gives children what they want – a life filled with happiness and contentment. It’s OK to have mixed feelings about the way your child’s eLearning efforts are going on. Just ask them to try their best. And keep reminding them that they need to take of their attention, and value their physical and mental health. Good luck! Compassionate Or Considerate, Choose Your Values And Write Your Destiny
Compassionate Or Considerate, Choose Your Values And Write Your Destiny
What is Character: Character is the predictable disposition of a human being. It is what makes a man compassionate and considerate for others. Character is the ability to know how to act in a crowd under the public eye and also the ability to be your true-self when no one is looking. It is the characteristics of trustworthiness, equanimity and fairness. What is Character Education Intervention: Education that inculcates a deep set of personal value system which enables our children to turn into positively connected and contributing adults of the future is Character Education. Character Education is the responsibility of parents, schools and our society. Because, together we can make it possible for positive outcomes for youth. It that promotes virtues and morals is equally important in impoverished and affluent communities. Because it helps mitigate risky behaviors and promotes resilience in the face of personal upheaval and disappointment. Character Education might mean the difference respect and regard for humanity and apathy and disregard for collective human potential. Being A Parent Leader Means Leading The Way Every Day
Being A Parent Leader Means Leading The Way Every Day
Parenting During A Pandemic:   Two people have the most important jobs in the world. Parents. And Teachers. More than a billion school age kids are out of school at this moment. Teachers are busy figuring out the digital learning landscape. So its important that they stay connect, keep curriculum and teaching methods relevant to the need of the day. Parents are acting as double agents, navigating their own professional responsibilities while also being full time care providers for their children. It’s also a time for us as parents to pause and rethink all the skills we must be imparting into our budding adults. Children might not seem to listen to us, but they most certainly are watching us. They’re watching our every step as navigate these uncertain Corona times with fear, irritability or passivity. They’re observing our words and actions and how we’re coping with our lives and responsibilities.

How And Why We Must Build Social Capital In A Contactless World
How And Why We Must Build Social Capital In A Contactless World
We’ve more in common than we don’t: Take a look around you, and you’ll see that we’re all driven by the same needs as humans. The feeling of belonging, the need to matter, and a cause to impact and give. But, we’re also starting to live more fragmented and lonely lives. The feeling of being accepted is very important for our mental wellbeing. It can shape how we value ourselves and our strengths. A family, our first ever relationship experience, helps shape the values and beliefs we stand for. Our pain, our joy, and even our success comes to us in a social context. Solitary confinement is a cruel punishment. Prayer is how we bond. Human connection predates our romance with our devices. Let's get back to collaborating, and finding true meaning in outward contribution. Let's find our collective power in an individualistic world. In Man Vs. Machine, Humans Can Reign Superior ONLY If We Remember This
Robots vs. Humans: Now:  If robots and animals had superior cognitive abilities than us humans, we would not be running the world today. Only humans have the power of imagination, intense curiosity, and can understand the cause and effect scenarios. Only we can contemplate deeply on the meaning of life and understand our ability that we can change our mind if we want to. Only we know what it feels like to be in another person’s shoes.  But if Sunder Pitchai and Google’s AI Assistant Duplex are to be believed, the day Robots are going to take over the world is not too far away. Apparently, work is well under way for AI to pick up nuances in language and subtleties of conversation unlike any other technology that’s been available to date. Thanks to technology, we have facts and truths at our finger tips. But unlike facts, relationship knowledge is like a divided highway. There’s mutual give and take in the form of emotion exchange. Processing emotions is a special skill we have as humans. But are we using it to our advantage? Strategies For Raising Emotional Resilient Children In The Digital Age
Strategies For Raising Emotional Resilient Children In The Digital Age
What Life Skills?   Many parents ask what we teach at FutureSTRONG Academy, and when we say “21st Century Life Skills”, they say, “Oh yeah, OK, my child is fine, thank you.” But, here’s the deal. Machines that we’re building using our spectacular Science, Math and Engineering skills are dictating how we must think, feel and act. But, thinking, planning and imagining are our unique value proposition as humans to begin with, isn’t it? Academic skills can be easily replicated, but qualities like empathy, perseverance, courage, commitment and hard work are deeply personal and what makes every human unique. Between school, parents and society, children somehow must be able to learn how to get along with others, share and care, use self-control, advocate for themselves, deal with worries, be able to see someone else’s perspective, give and receive respect, be reflective and understand choices, take responsibility and accept consequences.. and so much more. Don’t Just Manage Or Mitigate Stress, Conquer It
Don’t Just Manage Or Mitigate Stress, Conquer It
Our Habit to Ruminate:    Most of us, not including those who’re lucky to be enlightened, don’t want to live in the present moment. We simply don’t want to accept life as it manifests itself. We begin to over think our past or over analyze our options for the future. Sometimes, letting go of the past is just not that easy especially when we feel we’ve wronged ourselves or others because of our actions. We think about something hurtful that we should have said to teach someone a lesson, and regret that we did not. But these kinds of thoughts, feelings and emotions lead us to depression – if we spend too much of our time in the past. Here’s How Thinking Positive Doesn’t Mean Being Complacent Or In Denial
Here’s How Thinking Positive Doesn’t Mean Being Complacent Or In Denial
How can we generate Optimism? Imagine if we were building a career with a single minded goal. We might feel productive at the end of the day but our uni-dimensional life will not be fun at all. Without incorporating leisure and creativity and pursuing what we enjoy, and creating a well rounded life, we will not be truly happy. That’s where we can leverage the power of connection. By connecting with others, we can share our gifts and positively change their lives. We can share our predicaments and our sorrows and feel better. Connection to our fellow living beings, humans and animals, brings meaning and purpose into our lives. It impacts us and enables us to contribute to higher goals. We become capable of spreading hope, love and happiness all around. Imagine, if each and everyone of us was doing that, what it would do to our world’s collective happiness index? Is there anything like being overtly optimistic? Oh, yes. Being overtly optimistic is usually mistaken for naivety, and in the worst case, for arrogance. Monsanto Hates These Anti-GMO Activists, Find Out Why
Monsanto Hates These Anti-GMO Activists, Find Out Why
Know What Truly Nurtures You DISCLAIMER: I am not a vegan. I am a vegetarian. I have family members, and close friends who eat meat. I have no problem with that. Food preferences are a personal topic, and I would like to leave it at that. There’s so much to talk about in the world of food manufacturing. Bu, what’s there to talk about and why is it important to create awareness? Products and packaging that are at the eye level for children in the shelf, lure them into unhealthy habits. These packaged foods that we consume in America, most of them can’t be sold in Europe because they won’t pass regulations. Artificial colors that enter into our body, and will never leave it because the liver doesn’t know what these products are. And so can’t process them. In this food series, I am going to profile some of the most vocal food activists around the world. A few of the great heroes in this field are Vandana Shiva, Gary Yourofsky, Food Babe (Vani Hari), Michael Pollan and most recently, Jonathan Safran Foer. There is so much talk about: what is Monsanto doing, what is happening in slaughter houses, the business of animal shit in America and around the world. And the destruction of forests around the world to make them into animal feeding crop fields. We’re just starting. Let’s begin. I want you to start by asking yourself, “Do I know the source of my food?”

Seek Approval Or Live With Authenticity: Our Journey To Personal Freedom
Seek Approval Or Live With Authenticity: Our Journey To Personal Freedom
From Authenticity To Personal Freedom:  We can train as much and as long as we want, but unless we test it in real life, we are not turning our learning into action. When our training and testing coincide, we’re living our truth. When we speak and act our personal truth and values, we’re living in an authentic way. We begin to live in a “No conflict” zone, where our thoughts, words and our actions are aligned. Here’s what can be confusing. “Should I just be one thing to be authentic?” No, our authentic self can be flexible & firm, fierce & forgiving – all at once. Authenticity is also how we validate ourselves, build our personal brand, and fuel our confidence. Just how well do we know ourselves? And most importantly, how can we be anything BUT ourselves? If I don’t want to be what others have defined me to be, then who is my TRUE self? Finally, there are dangers in personal narratives. Watch what you tell yourself what you are and what you are NOT capable of. Here’s a question. Who have you allowed to decide that you’re NOT good enough? Covid Has Turned Us All Into Hikikomoris. Here’s What We Can Do.
Covid Has Turned Us All Into Hikikomoris. Here’s What We Can Do.
In January of 2020, if anyone would tell me that I would have to go on this self-imposed isolation for months on end, I would have laughed. As it turns out, not only did we go on isolation, we have stayed and managed to survive it. But imagine this type of a phenomenon that has been prevalent since the late 1990’s in Japan where people were retreating inwards and hiding out in their homes for decades on end? There is word for that in Japan, and it is called Hikikomori. Hikikomoris are people who are socially withdrawn often by their own volition. They are currently 1.5 million Hikikomoris in Japan according to Tamaki Saito, the psychologist who coined the term. These people are isolated socially, psychologically and spatially. This Is My Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech. I Wrote It A Little Early.
This Is My Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech. I Wrote It A Little Early.
I wrote this essay when I was in my 30’s. This is as much I can reveal about my age as a woman’s vanity will permit. Writing generates the excesses of emotions that sustain life. Writing unifies. And to write better, I learnt that I had to read more. So, in the summer of 2014 I went on a book reading binge. I read irrationally. When I fell asleep on books, I dreamt heavily. Like any child, I have been taught to avoid being presumptuous. So, the absurdity and the gall of a recurrent dream prompts me to write it down. In that, I see myself walk to the stage and read a prepared speech. # December 10th, 2044. Stockholm City Hall, Sweden.   #

Even In 2021, Access To Clean Water Is A Luxury In Flint, Michigan
Even In 2021, Access To Clean Water Is A Luxury In Flint, Michigan
Growing up in India, I used to see street fights for a bucket of potable water. Even at a young age, I had understood that we were the privileged few that had ready access to clean water for our daily needs. Of course there were days and months where we had to store it because public water supply was restricted to few hours a day. But, I’m not talking about something that happened 30 or 40 years ago. Many places like Malawi in Africa, and Flint, Michigan in America still lack access to clean water even in 2021. According to World Vision, a global humanitarian organization, 844 million people lack basic drinking water access, more than 1 of every 10 people on the planet. Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day. The average woman in rural Africa walks 6 kilometers every day to haul 40 pounds of water. Leveraging Our Grief To Transcend Our Suffering And Move Forward
Leveraging Our Grief To Transcend Our Suffering And Move Forward
One of the most difficult things a parent can do is continue living after the loss of a child. It shows us that, even after an insurmountable tragedy, we can find meaning in our life.  In our grief, we often lose sight of what we still have. In our sadness, we ignore the people and occasions that still need us. Here is the thing. We don't have to move on, we can carry our grief with us and continue to move forward together.  In the end, our dignity lies in getting a sense of the ending, and letting go gracefully.

Courage Is Already Within Us, Here’s How You Can Find It
Courage Is Already Within Us, Here’s How You Can Find It
How To Develop Courage: Courage is a responsibility that we must inculcate in ourselves. So we can do our best to help ourselves to make our world a better place to live in. So we can help others to do the right thing even in the most difficult of times. First by understanding our emotions. Self Awareness. Next by understanding the purpose of our struggle. Meaning of Life. By being honest and true to yourself. Authenticity. By aligning your words and actions inspite of pushback from external forces. Congruence. The Cultural Context of Courage: All said and done, here’s something important about the concept of Courage. The truth is, we’re not even half as courageous as the mythical heroes we read about and our super heroes we see in movies. Similarly, the Western and Eastern cultures have their own thresholds for what acts of courage might look like. In most countries, culture determines to what extent the community goes to in the name of courage. Whether, you’re trying to fight the blues of a global Pandemic, or fighting off a 6th grade bully, or jumping into a pool to save a stranger’s life, or fighting off a cockroach in your bathroom, your courage is yours. In the end, Courage is a Personal Choice. When was the last time you put a courageous face on? Read more HERE. https://futurestrongacademy.com/courage-in-the-time-of-corona-and-covid-19/

Ugh, Why Is My Smart Phone So Addictive? Well, Here Is The Lure.
Ugh, Why Is My Smart Phone So Addictive? Well, Here Is The Lure.
A Generation Zapped: Studies show that 40% of teens say the adults in their lives are chronically distracted. It’s no surprise, addictive tech behaviors have become alarmingly evident. The first thing we reach out to when we can even perceive the slightest hint of boredom is our phone. The last thing we kiss goodnight is usually a deeply personal digital device. The first thing we check on in the morning is our smart phone’s wellbeing and safety. Before we ingest the food on our plates, we must post it for strangers and friends miles and miles away to acknowledge and like it. We’ve more programs and content in our bucket list than we will be able to watch in our lifetime. When describing the poverty of attention, Herbert Simon, the Nobel Prize winner for Economics in 1978 says, “What information consumes is the attention of its recipients. Hence a wealth of information creates a poverty of attention.” The point is, how can there be anything on the other side of the screen that’s more important than what’s happening in our real lives in real time? Are we not living as if our busyness is just a proxy for our productivity? It’s in our hands to stop consuming everything that meets the eye, to take back the control and to stop living in the margins. How is our future sustainable this way? How long will we continue to be stay zapped under a technology spell? Forget all this. Here’s one question I want you to ask yourself. “Is technology enhancing my personal human capital, or depreciating it?” Read More HERE: https://futurestrongacademy.com/ugh-why-is-my-smart-phone-so-addictive-well-here-is-the-lure-video/

Parents, Here Are Daily Practices To Save The Day And Redeem Yourself
Parents, Here Are Daily Practices To Save The Day And Redeem Yourself
For Parents Fighting Distractions: Imagine dinner time at home and how you’re barking orders for everyone to come to the dinner table, but no one shows up. Let’s turn the tables, and now it’s you on your device and your children are trying their best to grab your attention. As busy parents, we must constantly evolve if we have to stay relevant to modern times. And so must our digital habits. When we engage with our phones and not with our surroundings and the people around us, we’re signaling to our impressionable children that their surroundings and their friends are not that important or interesting. Here are a few questions we can ask ourselves to stay in the present moment rather than getting sucked into our screens all times of the day. 1. Am I looking for something, could I be doing something meaningful at this moment? 2. Am I letting the virtual world keep me company most times of the day? 3. Am I do everything in my capacity to stay distraction free? Read more HERE: https://futurestrongacademy.com/feel-you-are-a-distracted-parent-heres-how-to-redeem-yourself/
