Tri Rig CEO Nick Salazar - Omni, The Perfect Bike, Alpha Aerobars & more!
Today we have Nick Salazar on the Podcast, who is the founder of Tririg.com; which is a site that originally started out as a review site for the best triathlon gear and equipment, but has since evolved into a company in which has designed and manufactured the most innovative bike parts on the market!  So Nick has a number of hats he wears for Tri Rig; including Editor-in-Chief of the website, the Photographer as well as the designer and engineer of all of the Tri Rig gear! Nick actually does everything from the original concept, to 3D modelling, prototyping, testing and the final oversight on manufacturing and distribution! Nick truly has a passion for innovating and highlighting the best of the best triathlon gear out on the market, so who better to have on the podcast to talk to us about bike setups then the guy who designs it all himself! In this podcast we’ll learn about the roots of Tri Rig and we’ll learn all about how they have created the perfect Triathlon bike in terms of sleek design and aerodynamic components from the ground up; known as the Omni Tri Bike (which just recently was ridden by Matt Russell as he smashed the long standing Lake Placid Bike Course Record!).  After this episode you’ll takeaway key concepts in understanding the best ways you can setup your bike; from the cockpit in the front end to the brakes to the rear bottle cage; and everything in between! I could keep going all day but it’s best if you hear it from Nick Himself; so get ready to take notes, and enjoy the podcast!

Altitude Training 101 - with Mile High Training & Altitude Athletics!
Today we have the Director of Mile High Training on the podcast to talk to us about the benefits and physiology of altitude training! So I am excited to say that I have been partnering with Altitude Athletics which is a gym that is opening up this fall in Toronto that focuses on Altitude training for endurance athletes which is an amazing concept because if there’s one common paradigm in all the pro athlete interviews I’ve had is that they all spend time in Boulder Colorado training at 5400ft elevation.  Altitude Athletics have brought the elevation to Toronto which is incredible because they will have treadmills, plyometric equipment, bike trainers and so much more that you can use and train in elevations ranging from 6000ft to 12,000 ft. If you guys are in the Toronto area then I highly recommend joining me in training there and you can find out more on that by checking them out on Instagram @altitudeathletic  So Altitude Athletic has hooked me up with a Generator and Mask that allows me to train at elevation in my own home! So in preparation for this I wanted to have altitude training expert Matt Formato to walk us all through what altitude training is all about and answer and questions and misconceptions around the style of training.  We will learn in this episode what the purpose of altitude training is, how it affects our body, how we will see improvements, and most importantly how do you structure a training plan around altitude training (and are there any risk factors involved)!  I’m super excited for this episode and I can’t wait to train like the pros with the help of Altitude Athletics as well as Matt Formato from Mile High Training. I will be documenting my training with Altitude on my YouTube Channel so be sure to subscribe to it by searching Pacing and Racing!  Now, let’s hear it from the expert himself!

Now today marks the official launch of our new segment within the Pacing and Racing Podcast which I am super thrilled about! Now of course, I will continue on with the triathlon interviews that are focused on training tips for the age group triathletes. Jackson Laundry - Virtual Wind Tunnel & Aerodynamics, LPC Triathlon Club, nutrition tips & more!
Today’s guest is Canadian Professional Triathlete; Jackson Laundry.  Now I am excited to talk to Jackson today for so many reasons. First off, he’s a fellow Canadian in Ontario where I am from so I see him on the podium at the odd local race and he's an absolutely phenomenal triathlete. Secondly, he is a STAC Performance athlete which is obviously very fitting for this Podcast, as we are big fans of STAC Performance and their indoor bike trainers on this podcast. Surprisingly enough he also rocks a Blue Seventy wetsuit which is awesome because again, like STAC; we are big Blue Seventy supporters!  He also is a member of the LPC triathlon club which is the 2nd triathlete from the LPC team on the show and he’s also the 2nd of the pro’s that come out of Guelph to be on the show; and as you’ll hear in the episode; Guelph seems to be Ontario’s mecca city for top performing triathletes as of late!  Today’s podcast we will get to hear from him all about his training and racing with the guys from Guelph and the LPC Team and how training in numbers can be beneficial, and we also talk about how he’s dialed in his aerodynamics in cycling by using the STAC Performance Virtual Wind Tunnel! Felicity Sheedy-Ryan - Super League Qualifier Series, ITU, and Age Group Training Tips!
Today’s guest is the Professional Australian triathlete, Scody athlete, Super League triathlete, and Blue Seventy athlete; Felicity Sheedy-Ryan!  Now I am super excited about todays episode because of course Blue Seventy and Scody both happen to be supporters of this podcast channel so I love to get to chat with pro triathletes that wear both scody and Blue Seventy, and Felicity happens to represent both!  Now aside from her great taste in apparel and swimwear, she is also a Super League Triathlete which has been all the rage as of lately and I can’t wait to dive into more of it in today’s episode. So Felicity tied in 2nd in Bali at the Super League Qualifiers which gave her a golden ticket to compete in the Super League Championship Series this year so she will be able to compete with the best triathletes in the world to compete for the championship title!  Felicity notably has been a 2 x world Duathlon Champion and has competed in the ITU series for over 10 years so she has a wealth of knowledge and experience that we will get to listen into today!

Mike Reilly - Tales from IRONMAN, the World's Greatest Endurance Event!
In this Podcast we meet with Mike Reilly – also known as the IRONVOICE and the man behind the mic at the KONA World Championships and many of the biggest IRONMAN races. He has been the announcer and essentially icon of IRONMAN dating all the way back to 1989.  Now think about this for a minute. Mike Reilly has never missed announcing a single KONA race since 19189. He has announced hundreds of IRONMAN races and has been there at the finish line seeing and hearing thousands of amazing stories. He has been the motivation and highlight of many triathletes memories of IRONMAN because of his words and demeanor as they cross the finish line. Picture this; you spent the past year training and you’ve been through so much in your life this year but you kept pushing. you are 50ft away from the finish line of the hardest race of your life and you hear your name being announced and you hear the words “You. Are. An. IRONMAN”. You cross the finish line as the crowd is roaring and your family is there holding up homemade signs and your emotions are at an all time high, realizing you just accomplished one of the biggest moments in your life.  Because of times like these Mike has been apart of so many stories and has had the privilege to connect with so many triathletes that he’s actually been able to create and just released his new book titled “Finding my voice – Tales from IRONMAN, the worlds greatest endurance event”.  I personally a big fan of Mike Reilly, and although I’ve only done 70.3’s I do have it on my bucket list to make sure the first IRONMAN I do that Mike Reilly will be there to announce me across that finish line! I could go on an on about Mike because he’s truly one in a million and so passionate about triathletes and the sport; but its better if you hear it from Mike himself; so here he is!

When she returned to the sport, she eventually made the decision to pursue jumping up to the IM 70.3 distance – and in doing so, her first year she had earned herself 4 half distance titles, multiple podium finishes and a top 10 World Championship finish. Super League Triathlon is an amazing series of the sport that is definitely standing up to the usual IRONMAN series format in which we are all used to! Now I have only ever personally raced IRONMAN style of triathlon, but I can see why many triathletes are so enticed to move to the super league format!
