E10: Is the retail industry ready for a circular economy? 🔵 Sharla Halvorson, Ingka Centres 🔵 Circumcenter

We talked with Sharla Halvorson, the Head of Sustainability at Ingka Centres.

Retail is one of the most notorious polluters in the world! From its supply chain to energy consumption, there are numerous areas where it can create a more circular business model.

And this change is not only nice but also profitable! Because 77% of companies believe sustainability brings more customer loyalty, and 63% state that it increases brand revenue, according to The Capgemini research.

So, how do we enable a circular transformation in the retail industry? Ingka Centres and its Circuit concept take circularity principles to the core and set relatively high benchmarks for others.

Sharla tells us about the growing circular practices within Ingka Centres and how Circuit is becoming a meeting place for people to adopt the everyday practice of the circular economy.  We hope this conversation inspires you to start your circularity journey today. E9: What is the brewing and beverage industry doing for the circular economy? 🟣 Can Çaka, Anadolu Efes 🟣 Circumcenter

We talked with Can Çaka, the CEO and President of Anadolu Efes Beer Group, which operates in six countries and 27 facilities.

Anadolu Efes is committed to achieving net zero emissions across all its operations by 2030. To achieve this goal, they also collaborate with startups and have a larger goal to enable circularity within the company.

Beer is the fifth most consumed beverage after tea, carbonated drinks, milk and coffee. As a result, the food and beverage industry is responsible for more than 17 billion tonnes of CO2, about one-third of total global emissions.

This number is almost 19 times bigger than what the aviation industry causes. So maybe we should also consider what we eat and drink daily besides occasionally cutting down air travel.

Can Çaka explains how Anadolu Efes is transforming into a circular economy and the role of the brewing and beverage industry in achieving sustainability?  We hope this conversation inspires you to start your circularity journey today.

E6: How can we prevent packaging waste through a circular economy? 🟡 Jonne Hellgren, RePack 🟡 Circumcenter

We talked with Jonne Hellgren, the founder of RePack, a global reusable packaging service trusted by more than 200 companies that can be conveniently and quickly returned and re-used.

Jonne explains circularity in the packaging industry.  Because 17% of all waste produced globally is paper and cardboard. This is the second-largest polluter after food and biological waste. And, 12% of all worldwide waste fully or partially comprises plastic packaging.

Packaging waste poses a serious threat to our environment and is slowly getting more public attention. But is it enough? What can brands and businesses do to adopt circular packaging principles?
