Anxiety Mastery

Anxiety Mastery

In the last few months, many people around have been feeling an increase in their anxiety, and may not even know the cause. If you're nervous, your mind can run away trying to find justifications, and that can lead to a downward spiral - nerves leading to fear, combining into anxiety, imagining awkward situations, and so on.

You don't always need to know the causes to feel anxiety, and as it turns out, many times you don't need to know the causes to solve it either. In this episode, Kurt goes through some perspectives and techniques to help you address, overcome and start to transmute your anxiety and other emotional problems into something beneficial.

Topics discussed include:

Pranayama or breathing exercises

The importance of being open-minded

Dropping anxiety like a weight

Coping mechanisms and thriving strategies

Tech detox

Meditation - mindfulness, seated, walking

The way you think

The power of language over your state of mind

Black and white thinking

How to stick with a habit

How resistance to anxiety causes you to become more anxious; and

Having a little faith

Know The Wisdom Of Your Ancestors

Know The Wisdom Of Your Ancestors

In a sense, our genetic code holds the wisdom of every generation that has come before us - the keys to millions of years of survival, and even some of prosperity. Is it possible that we can tap into that knowledge? Perhaps even tap into knowledge that is hidden on a spiritual level?

According to Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson, every human being and brain has the ability to access that ancient wisdom, using their own "morphogenetic circuit".

In this episode, Kurt discusses some techniques that people might use to achieve this wisdom, including some from R.A. Wilson's book "Prometheus Rising", Carlos Castaneda, The Secret, and the Dimensional Jumping subreddit.

Nation States End

Nation States End

According to the case made in the book "The Sovereign Individual", the nation state rose to power as a natural consequence of the conditions of the industrial age.

Gunpowder made obsolete the old technology such as armed cavalry, and castles. That set the stage for the efficient smelting of iron, which lead to factories.

Factories are very centralised - making them vulnerable to vandalism and also to taxation. The factory owners needed the protective watch of governments to maintain their properties.

Now we are moving into the information age, and it is much more common to have digital property, in the form of websites and cryptocurrency. In many ways, the nation state is powerless to protect these new forms of property, and in many cases it is powerless to tax them.

Still the belief in the authority of the nation state remains. How long will it hold up? Kurt explores that question and more in this episode of The Paradise Paradox!

Rejected from the USA

Rejected from the USA

I didn't think I'd be welcomed into the USA by being interrogated and stuck in a small room for 48 hours, but that's life.

Arriving to O'Hare airport, I was told to wait so they could ask me a few more questions. I was detained for hours and finally told I would not be allowed to enter the USA on the ESTA visa waiver program, due to my deportation from Mexico two years prior, and as a perpetual traveller, it wasn't clear where my home was.

I sat and meditated quite a lot during those couple of days, looking for reasons to be grateful. It's funny, because in good times I don't always think too much about how to be happy. But in tough times, I always put in the extra effort, so paradoxically I can be happier in the face of adversity. And so, despite external factors, I must proclaim my visit to the USA as a success.

A one-time home to liberty, then people could arrive in the US by Ellis Island as ship crew, passenger or even stowaway and receive an immigration visa. Now, that is certainly not the case. At least I know there are plenty of places in the world that will treat me more kindly.

Arielle Friedman is the former co-host of the Crypto Hippies Podcast, and now a co-host of The Multiversity Project, a podcast for exploring higher-dimensional education.

In this interview we talk about what got her on the path of questioning what governments told her, noticing that their stated intentions weren't aligned with their real intentions. We talk about how that lead her to take an interest in philosophy, particularly in the works of Hegel. And we talk about the future of governments with things like private security and seasteading.

Voluntaryism And Beyond - Katy Kelly

Katy Kelly is one of four hosts of The Multiversity Project, a podcast for "higher-dimensional education", and is known for forming a voluntaryist meet-up in Austin, Texas, as well as in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. Years ago, she decided to leave her comfortable life in the US and head to Mexico to explore greater depths of self-knowledge and understanding a foreign culture, and to find a less stressful life.

In this episode Katy and Kurt discuss Katy's past, how she came to be an advocate in world peace who was set to join the military, discovered libertarianism and voluntaryism, exploring non-violent communication, founding meet-ups, why she decided to move to Mexico and the strangeness of being in a very different culture, how she found work online, why she now has doubts about voluntaryism and the NAP, the philosophical basis of property rights, and how culture can be more important than government in deciding the fate of a nation.

Note: in this episode we mention the structure of Luxembourg, but we were actually thinking of the principality of Liechtenstein.

Being Open-Minded with Chris Guida

Welcome to The Paradise Paradox. I'd like to present this interview with my friend and co-host of The Multiversity Project, Chris Guida. Chris is an adventurer and investor. I'll always remember the first time I met him. One of the first things he said to me was "What's your opinion on the nature of objective reality?" I thought, okay, this guy goes straight to the deep questions.

In this episode we talk about what it takes to form an open-minded person, how Myers Briggs personality types can help us explain open-mindedness. We also talk about organisational structures - hierarchical and horizontal, how each has its place. We talk about cryptocurrency as an anti-fragile system and how that's similar to the way we live our lives.

Remember to check out multiversitypodcast.com and look for The Multiversity Project on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. In the next couple of weeks I'll be putting up interviews with the other hosts, Katy Kelly and Arielle Friedman where we talk about what helped them form their own philosophies and open their minds.

He also talks about the data from Kent Kyle's MRI experiments with psychopaths, how they might indicate an explanation under Freudian theory, with a lack of an ego to negotiate between the sensible and baser desires of a human.

Why Is Dash Pumping? April 2019 - Cryptonomics

Why Is Dash Pumping? April 2019 - Cryptonomics

Dash has outperformed the cryptocurrency market over the last month, rising from $79 to $120. For people not familiar with Dash, rises in price always seem unusual, but for those who follow it closely they know that good news is always coming out.

After there was a 51% attack on ETC, there was a lot of uncertainty in many smaller crypto projects. Bitcoin and Ethereum are big enough to make such attacks impractical, but for the rest of the market, they may be exposed to this exploit. Dash is working on a solution in the form of Chainlocks, using the Dash masternodes to prevent doublespends, making the system more secure and give faster confirmations.

The Dash Core Group has publically released the code for Evolution, the wallet which Dash supporters hope will make crypto more user friendly, looking more like PayPal or Venmo than Bitcoin, allowing merchants to integrate into the wallet and offer discounts, increasing their conversions.

However, it seems the main reason that Dash has increased in price over the last month is something more related to short-term trading. Binance added two pairs - Dash/BNB and Dash/USDT. That means traders on Binance are now using those pairs to try to gain an advantage and make more money.

The Power of Words

The Power of Words

Sometimes we use words without thinking too much about their meaning, without putting the intention or the weight behind them which they might deserve. We say "You're welcome" without feeling that someone is welcome, or "good bye" without remembering the original meaning of the phrase - "God be with ye". Similarly, French people say "Adieu" and Spaniards say "Adiós" without thinking of them as blessings.

However, in some parts of the world, people do mean what they say. In Thailand, the common greeting and farewell is "sawatdii", which is actually the Sanskirt word "svasti" meaning "goodness". Every hello is a blessing in Thai, and when you hear Thai people say it, you can feel the goodness.

How can you use your words to bless people, to let them feel welcome in your presence, to increase their comfort? How much of a hello is your "Hello", and can you introduce yourself and reveal a little of your soul? Let's talk about it in this episode of The Paradise Paradox!

Danger in Acapulco? With Luis F. Mises

A few weeks ago, ex-patriate John Galton was tragically shot dead in Acapulco, and a friend of his was also injured with three bullet wounds. The question of his death is complex, and in many ways it's not ours to discuss.

The other question which it raised for many is, how safe is Acapulco? Every year many libertarians go to Anarchapulco to explore freedom in its many forms. Are they in any danger? And how can they best protect themselves?

In this episode, Kurt interviews Luis Fernando Mises to ask his opinion of Acapulco and Mexico, the four parts of Acapulco. Kurt explains some basic safety precautions that people should be aware of when in Latin America. We also discuss the practice of "shaktipat", when a devotee receives spiritual energy from a yoga guru, why Luis invests in Ripple, our love for Mexican food and the search for the perfect quesadilla.

Conscious Communication and Ethical Emergence - Michael Nimetz & ELAmental

Since 2015, hundreds of people have gone to Acapulco every year to celebrate liberty, and discuss how to make the world more free. Some of them decided to never leave, and some decided to keep coming back. In this episode, Kurt is joined by Acapulco expatriate Michael Nimetz, and Anarchapulco performer, MC ELAmental.

If you've ever worked in a large organisation, you probably know that the rule is "The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing." That's why Michael is presenting a workshop on his method of "Ethical Emergence" at Anarchapulco this year 2019 - all about how to improve communication in organisations, fostering relationships between individuals and departments, enabling people to best use their skills and form synergy with others' skills. Nimetz has used this method in the construction industry, improving the efficiency so much that it reduces large projects by many months.

Our other guest, MC ELAmental is performing at Anarchapulco's Turtle party. MC ELAmental makes conscious hip hop, and is an advocate and activist creating eco-friendly products by hand, such as T-shirts with natural dyes using berries and other plants - in harmony with nature and even helping plants to grow.

Thanks to Michael, ELAmental and to you for joining us in this interesting conversation.

Do you regret buying bitcoin? With Chris Guida - Cryptonomics

Firstly, do we regret investing in cryptocurrency? Both of us started buying years ago, so the answer was a clear no. However, there are many people who didn't have the good fortune to buy so early. Chris says it's likely that the crypto market will come around again - just like with a traditional market, there's a boom and bust. It's easy for a lot of folks in the media to say that bitcoin is dead and will never come back - but literally hundreds of pundits have said that before, and it hasn't stopped crypto yet.

We also discussed whether the crypto bubble of 2017 was a pump and dump scheme, a manipulated effort by whales and market makers, pushing money in and loudly and taking it out quietly. Wherever there are markets, it's almost guaranteed that people are trying to work them in their favour, but in this case it's unlikely that there's one grand conspiracy to push up the price. The price, and the bubble, is a result of a lot of individual actors, buying, selling, holding, and saying the truth or saying lies about what they're doing.

Magic Mushroom Messages - Interview with 434

Magic Mushroom Messages - Interview with 434

Since the dawn of man, and maybe a few hours before, people have been using psychedelic substances to expand their consciousness, give them a greater perspective, and get in touch with something divine. Psilocybe mushrooms, peyote and other substances were seen as holy, a sacrament, a way to connect something deep within us.

These days, many might consider that superstition, but as the public discourse and awareness of psychedelics grow, more people are talking about the sacraments' relationship to spiritual experiences, and even contacting wise and ancient entities, with knowledge to impart and calm guidance. Some call them our ancestors, some call them "self-transforming machine elves".

On this episode, Kurt interviews Peter, known by his YouTube channel 434, about his experiences talking to these spirits or angels during and after his mushroom journeys. Much like the mushrooms themselves, Peter is building a network, branching out to find like-minded individuals. We discussed a lot of subjects - the intelligence of plant and nature, how good and evil are very human concepts, near death experiences, and the origin of species.

Welcome to another life-changing roller-coaster ride on this next episode of ... The Paradise Paradox!

But you gotta find that money to save, to put that money into a fund to buy your own financial freedom, and it all starts with paying yourself first, being conscious of your money, learning restraint, and being grateful.

In the detention centre, he met many fascinating characters, a kind drug-dealing hippie, a Romanian credit card fraudster, many Central Americans and many Indian gentlemen, trying to get to the United States to earn an honest living.

In this episode Kurt is joined by former Paradise Paradoxian, Mr. Aaron Battle, and we discuss being deported, the culture of bribery that exists in most of the world, how Trump's presidency has put pressure on the Mexican government, Mexico's new president, and all kinds of fun stuff.
