What does it take to grow? Day 4
James 1:22-25 (NIV) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does. Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV) Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. Hebrews 5:12-13 “You have been Christians a long time now, and you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things a beginner must learn about the Scriptures. You are like babies who drink only milk and cannot eat solid food. 13And a person who is living on milk isn’t very far along in the Christian life and doesn’t know much about doing what is right.” (NLT) says in 2 Peter 3:18, “Continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our savior, Jesus Christ.” (GN)

Mark 2:1-5 says that when Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”

How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. Women received their loved ones back again from death. But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down. Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God? If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God’s way. For the Scriptures tell us, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” When people work, their wages are not a gift, but something they have earned. But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners. David also spoke of this when he described the happiness of those who are declared righteous without working for it: “Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of sin.” Now, is this blessing only for the Jews, or is it also for uncircumcised Gentiles? Well, we have been saying that Abraham was counted as righteous by God because of his faith. But how did this happen? Was he counted as righteous only after he was circumcised, or was it before he was circumcised? Clearly, God accepted Abraham before he was circumcised! Circumcision was a sign that Abraham already had faith and that God had already accepted him and declared him to be righteous—even before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith but have not been circumcised. They are counted as righteous because of their faith. And Abraham is also the spiritual father of those who have been circumcised, but only if they have the same kind of faith Abraham had before he was circumcised. Clearly, God’s promise to give the whole earth to Abraham and his descendants was based not on his obedience to God’s law, but on a right relationship with God that comes by faith. If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless. For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!) So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. And we are all certain to receive it, whether or not we live according to the law of Moses, if we have faith like Abraham’s. For Abraham is the father of all who believe. That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, “I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing. Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. Romans 4:1‭-‬25 NLT

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith. It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith. It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. This means that the mercies of God are often hidden and hard to recognize when they are happening. He does “cause grief” (verse 32). He does “afflict” (verse 33). But all this serves another purpose — a merciful purpose — if we trust him.

FAVOR DAY 5
Be submitted Esther shows us how submission brings favor. She didn’t take matters into her own hands. This is an ingredient to receiving favor. She exemplified submission, humility and confidence in God and won the favor of everyone who saw her. “When the turn came for Esther to go to the king, she asked for nothing other than what Hegai, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of the harem, suggested.” (Esther 2:15) Be humble/have humility Through her humility Esther received immediate care and attention, provision, the best place, helpers, assistants and attendants. Furthermore, her favor created favor for all around her. Through our humility, let’s create an atmosphere of favor in our lives that can overflow to others. “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5) Be honest Honesty is a key to favor. Joseph found favor with Potiphar because he could be trusted. “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with Him.” (Proverbs 11:1) “Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.” (Genesis 39) Get Wisdom Wisdom is a key to favor. As Solomon makes clear in the Book of Proverbs. “For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35)

FAVOR DAY 4
Be faithful. Noah found favor with God due to his faithfulness. He walked faithfully with God and that led to favor. “So the Lord said, ‘I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.’ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” (Genesis 6:7-9) Be righteous/blameless. As we can also see in the example of Noah, being righteous and blameless is a key to finding favor. We also find this call to righteousness in the New Testament. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) “Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” (Psalm 5:12) You can be blessed with favor. Favor leads to blessing.

Give gifts and offerings Abel’s offering found favor with God but Cain’s did not. Make sure your offering finds favor with God. Giving gifts leads us to find favor with both God and man as we see from the example of Jacob who found favor with Esau following his substantial gift. “And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.” (Genesis 4:4) “I have cattle and donkeys, sheep and goats, male and female servants. Now I am sending this message to my lord, that I may find favor in your eyes.” (Genesis 32:5) King Solomon offered a sacrifice of 22,000 cattle and 120,000 sheep and goats. And so the king and all the people dedicated the Temple of God. The priests took their assigned positions, and so did the Levites who were singing, “His faithful love endures forever!” They accompanied the singing with music from the instruments King David had made for praising the Lord . Across from the Levites, the priests blew the trumpets, while all Israel stood. Then at the end of the celebration, Solomon sent the people home. They were all joyful and glad because the Lord had been so good to David and to Solomon and to his people Israel. If you want God’s favor then start caring for people. Ruth found favor with Boaz because of the things she had done and James says ‘faith without works is dead’. “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’.” (Matthew 25:34-40) “Boaz replied, ‘I’ve been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband—how you left your father and mother and your homeland and came to live with a people you did not know before. When the Philistines heard that Israel had assembled at Mizpah, the rulers of the Philistines came up to attack them. When the Israelites heard of it, they were afraid because of the Philistines. LAUGHTER DAY 5
1. Take Time to Laugh For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance. —Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4, ESV If you’ve been on this planet for more than a few years, you know life isn’t one big laugh. It’s filled with difficult trials. Even so, the Bible declares there is “a time to laugh.” Some ways to incorporate more laughter into your life: Talk to a friend with a good sense of humor, retell a funny story from the past or play a practical joke on a good friend or family member. Need another idea? Spending time around children or pets is typically a surefire way to ramp up the laughter. 2. Share Joy A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. —Proverbs 17:22, ESV Don’t keep joy to yourself. Share the “good medicine” of a joyful heart with others. Have you brought joy or laughter to someone today? If not, think of a way you can make one person laugh. It’ll bring joy to both of your hearts. 3. Lighten Your Load Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh. —Luke 6:21b, ESV Have you ever been so sad that you thought you’d never laugh again? If you are a follower of Christ, you are blessed to be part of God’s kingdom. The God of the universe can bring you comfort and inner peace even as you struggle with a heavy heart. Being “blessed” is about experiencing hope and joy regardless of circumstances. King David once wrote about it this way: “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness” (Psalm 30:11). Feeling burdened today? Ask God to lighten your load. 4. Savor Surprises—And Don’t Be Afraid to Laugh at Yourself And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.” —Genesis 21:6-7, ESV Abraham’s wife, Sarah, waited 90 years to become a mother. Thinking there was no way she could provide a family heir herself, she was downright dumbfounded when told she would have a son. She had to laugh out of pure joy. Think of a time when you were pleasantly surprised by God’s timing. 5. Expect Great Things Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” —Psalm 126:2, ESV When God led His people out of captivity and brought them back to their homeland, they were so relieved and thankful that they laughed and shouted for joy. After spending 70 years as captives, one of the first things they did was build an altar and worship God. It can be easy to dwell on things that aren’t going your way, but remember the verse above—God does do great things. Keep an eye out this week for the great things He is doing in your life, then take a moment to thank Him for it. .

Enemies of Passion Let me offer you three common causes of fatigue in the life of both Church and believers: 1. Compromise fatigue: This is where we face the pressures to fit in, be accepted, to not make waves, to be silent when we should speak up, to be more like the world than like Christ. Ultimately it leads to us giving in, which in turns leads to spiritual fatigue. 2. Compression fatigue: This is where we face the continuing pressures of life weighing down on us, and because we are trying to hold up under the load with our own strength, eventually we give out, which, once again leads to spiritual fatigue. 3. Comparison fatigue: This is where we are constantly looking at everyone else and wondering why we can’t have what they have, do what they do, be what they are. We become convinced that there is a place where the “grass is greener” and we eventually give up, which is another way of describing spiritual fatigue

BEHIND THE SCENES DAY 5
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. The Cross means love. Christ died for sinners. He died for people who had lost their way. He did not die because it was forced upon him. It was a choice. A choice made in love. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners (Romans 5:8). Jesus still loves sinners. He came and gave his life for them. The message of the Cross remains a gift of love to those undeserving. Above all, the Cross is a symbol of love. 2. The Cross is personal. In most religions, people strive to reach deity. Christianity is the only faith where God has reached down to us. Our response to such a God is to know him personally. Jesus died so that he could know you. It was personal. I want to know Christ... I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death (Philippians 3:10). 3. The Cross is willful humility. Christ’s death was an act of his will.  In Philippians 2:7-8, Paul states that Jesus humbled himself in obedience and died a criminal death on the Cross. Sometimes we mistakenly think that he made that decision as God. Jesus came to the conclusion to die for humanity as a human. He willed his flesh, mind, and emotions to die on the Cross. And by that will (that is the will of Jesus as a human being, not the will of God), we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (Hebrews 10:10). Christ hung on the cross on purpose. He could choose to live as he pleased, but he chose to give his life for our sake. Galatians 2:20 says that we have been crucified with Christ – past tense. As Christians, we are to be dead to our will, as Christ was. Our life’s prayer should be, “Not my will, Yours be done.” And just like Jesus, it is our responsibility to act on our prayer. Being in the will of God is not a passive thing. It is an act of the will. 4. The Cross is prophetic. There are many prophecies of the Cross in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. From the beginning of time, God has been planning to rescue humanity from the clutches of evil by horrific death on a cross. Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed (Isaiah 53:4-5). He was disfigured, tormented, completely abused. But not only was his punishment prophesied, so was our atonement. Pierced for sin. Beaten for wholeness. Whipped for healing. A divine exchange. Blessings for curses, completeness for brokenness, unrighteousness for holiness. The redemption was prophesied. 5. The Cross is final. So many gaze at the Cross and yet hold on to past hurt, pain, and problems. They don’t belong on your back any longer – Jesus has taken them on his. The debt is paid. Look to the Cross and receive your salvation. And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll  and break its seals and open it. For you were killed, and your blood has ransomed people for God  from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become God’s kingdom and his priests.  And they will reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10, NLT) Redeemer, Lamb of God, he is worthy. Thank you for the Cross, Lord.

In the days of Herod [the Great], king of Judea, there was a certain priest whose name was Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was a descendant of Aaron [the first high priest of Israel], and her name was Elizabeth. They both were righteous (approved) in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord. But they were childless, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both far advanced in years.  Now it happened while Zacharias was serving as priest before God in the appointed order of his priestly division, as was the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter [the sanctuary of] the temple of the Lord and burn incense [on the altar of incense]. And all the congregation was praying outside [in the court of the temple] at the hour of the incense offering. And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense. When Zacharias saw the angel, he was troubled and overcome with fear. FREEDOM DAY 5
It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then? My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. For there is a root of sinful self-interest in us that is at odds with a free spirit, just as the free spirit is incompatible with selfishness. These two ways of life are antithetical, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day. They had slipped in to spy on the freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us back into bondage [under the Law of Moses]. But we did not yield to them even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel would continue to remain with you [in its purity]. But from those who were of high reputation (whatever they were—in terms of individual importance—makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality—He is not impressed with the positions that people hold nor does He recognize distinctions such as fame or power)—well, those who were of reputation contributed nothing to me [that is, they had nothing to add to my gospel message nor did they impose any new requirements on me]. Boundaries Day 5
Consequences  Trespassing on other people’s property carries consequences. “No Trespassing” signs usually carry a threat of prosecution if someone steps over the boundaries. The Bible teaches this principle over and over, saying that if we walk one way, this will happen, and if we walk another way, something else will happen. Exodus 22:7-9  “If a man gives to his neighbor money or goods to keep safe, and it is stolen from the man's house, then, if the thief is found, he shall pay double. If the thief is not found, the owner of the house shall come near to God to show whether or not he has put his hand to his neighbor's property. For every breach of trust, whether it is for an ox, for a donkey, for a sheep, for a cloak, or for any kind of lost thing, of which one says, ‘This is it,’ the case of both parties shall come before God. The one whom God condemns shall pay double to his neighbor.

Holding on
Claiming God’s Promises: Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23). Introduction: God has issued more than 40 thousand promises in the Bible. That’s a lot of promises that we can “hold fast” to! Although, sometimes it can be difficult to determine how to properly respond to God’s awesome promises. Have you ever read a promise in the Bible that God clearly promises and you wonder how that promise applies to you in your life? I do this all the time. There are several things to keep in mind while determining the promises you claim and “hold fast to…without wavering.” The first thing to keep in mind is that the Bible contains two kinds of divine promises. - Limited promises - General Promises 1. Limited Promises. God has made many promises to specific people living in particular circumstances for explicit purposes. These promises are definitely not for everybody or as Charles Stanley says, “One size fits all” promises. - If you try to claim these promises for yourself then your headed for trouble. For example, the resurrected Jesus told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem “for the promise of the Father” and that while they waited, they would “be baptized by the Holy Spirit.” The text reads, “Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts 1:4-5). - It would be foolish for you to travel to Jerusalem and wait there to receive this promise, since Jesus already fulfilled it that first Pentecost. - Today, the Holy Spirit baptizes every believer into the body of Christ and takes up residence within at the very moment that person trusts in Christ. Jesus gave this promise to a very specific group of people at a particular time for an explicit purpose. It isn’t for anyone else to claim. 2. General Promises. Now that we understand “limited promises,” lets look at the many promises that are applicable to all His children throughout all of history. For example, He has promised to “never leave us or forsake us.” Paul wrote under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Hebrews 13:5, “Make sure that you character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never leave you, nor will I ever forsake you.” He also promised to return for us. Jesus spoke these words in the Gospel of John 14:3, “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” - These promises pertain to all believers across all of time. 3. Although general promises are for every believer across all of time, these “general promises” can also be of two different types. a. Conditional Promises. For example, Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Jesus Christ.” The condition here is that we be in Christ; the believer must be living for Him and in total submission to His will. - Another example is Psalm 37:4. It says, “Delight yourself in the Lord; And He will give you the desires of your heart.” Clearly the condition is that a relationship comes before the request. b. Unconditional Promises. Unconditional promises require nothing of the believer. The promises mentioned above in Hebrew 13:5 and John 14:3 are of this type. God will fulfill these promises because He has pledged to fulfill them. Nothing anyone does can alter the His commitment or change His plans. He will keep these promises, not because of anything we do, but because of His own faithfulness.

It is usually during the tough times of life.  Do not try to run from God when times get tough.  In the book of Job, Job was having problems in his life. He refused to curse God for his trouble.  God not only knows about what we go through; He is there for us and cares about us. The third way to take his words is. 3. Literally - in the highest Heaven, where we naturally expect to find God. But even in "Sheol" -- the Hebrew word for the place of the dead (it’s not hell; "Sheol" is usually translated "the grave") even there we find God. Distance Death Darkness CONCLUSION  David found great comfort knowing that God was with Him no matter where he went.  We need to understand that we cannot hide from God.  We need to understand that we cannot hide from God’s love either.  God loves each and every person that has been created. God loves you.  Maybe you are in a difficult situation right now, have suffered some kind of loss, been afflicted with illness or pain. Maybe the wound is still tender. Perhaps it’s too early to know why it’s happening. Perhaps you may never know this side of eternity. But believe David; God has not left you.

The Benefits
Thanksgiving for Multiplication: For everything that must increase, God must be gratefully acknowledged. Jesus knew this spiritual technique and used it often during His earthly ministry. Anything we do not thank God for never increases. The Bible says: And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would (John 6:11). As soon as He gave thanks, food came from wherever it was and twelve baskets were gathered as remnants. It is time for our bread to multiply and it will take genuine thanksgiving. Thanksgiving as a lifestyle will establish us in a ceaseless flow of signs and wonders. The reason we are reducing is that we are forgetful. Thanksgiving for Miracles: In John 11:41-44, at the grave of Lazarus, Jesus repeated the same spiritual principle, showing us how significant this forgotten weapon is in the working of miracles, in effecting signs and wonders. He said, “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.” That was what brought Lazarus out of the grave. Those who give thanks do not need to ask, neither do they beg, they simply call. We need the kind of Spirit of thanksgiving that operated in Jesus so that before every obstacle of life, we operate that anointing that will break the prison gates and also bring the dead out of the grave. If we want our dead position transformed, we should learn to give God thanks (1 Thessalonian 5:18

Is it Right?

Gratitude
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good and his mercies endures forever. Thanksgiving is a selfless act that sees beyond what you have not received. Thanksgiving is a choice once made brings joy and great fulfilment to both parties involved. A grateful heart is a positive heart. A grateful person is a graceful person. I would rather spend time with one who is thankful than spend time with one who is resentful.

Dealing with Delay
In this era of instant happenings and fast world, the delay can be frustrating.  In the current normal, we have to wait in line for our turn in the mall while maintaining the required social distance.  As we waited for our turn to get in the grocery store and shop today, I thought of how sometimes all that is needed in our spiritual walk is patience.

Unnecessary Battles
When it comes to our personal battles, as Christians, it isn’t guess work.  God has clearly shown us in the Bible the battles that we should engage in and the battles that we are promised to win!  Following are just a few:  1 Cor. 15:57:  “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  We are promised victory in every battle, if we go “through” our Lord.   1 John 5:4:  “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.”  We’re promised to overcome the world, its temptations & trials, if we’ll but hold in in “faith.”  2 Corinthians 2:14:  “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ.”   We’re promised  that  in  any  battle where Christ is leading us, He’ll always bring us ultimately into victory!

Fear of Shame
Shame is a painful feeling of humiliation or distress caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. “Shout for joy, O barren one, she who has not given birth; Break forth into joyful shouting and rejoice, she who has not gone into labor [with child]! For the [spiritual] sons of the desolate one will be more numerous Than the sons of the married woman,” says the Lord. “Enlarge the site of your tent [to make room for more children]; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, do not spare them; Lengthen your tent ropes And make your pegs (stakes) firm [in the ground]. For you will spread out to the right and to the left, And your descendants will take possession of nations And will inhabit deserted cities. “Do not fear, for you will not be put to shame, And do not feel humiliated or ashamed, for you will not be disgraced. Need To Vent?
People can get hurt, physically and emotionally—which can then lead to spiritual hurt.  Proverbs 29:11.  Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.  Name some situations or circumstances when it’s okay to feel angry.  Remember to focus on the situation, not a person or group of people.   Examples could be cancer, injustice, pollution, or similar things.  Anger affects people in different ways.  When some people get angry, they might want to punch something or throw something.  Others may want to scream, yell, or stomp their feet.  Other translations of this verse say that fools give full vent to their anger.  That means they just let it all out and unload on anyone and everyone that comes near when they’re angry.  But the last part of that Scripture says that the wise quietly hold it back.   It doesn’t mean the wise don’t get angry, but they are not the ones who will vomit their anger all over anyone in their way.  So, what is the difference between the anger that fools vent and the anger of a wise person?  Let’s look at Jesus.  When Jesus was angry at the “money-changers” in the Temple, He was angry that they were stealing from people.   They were treating the Temple as just another way to scam people out of money.  Similar to those social media scams that say, “Send me $19.95, and I’ll tell you the secret to making millions from the internet.”  Jesus was angry because what they were doing was not right.  When you get angry, are you angry at the person or the situation?    A wise person holds their anger back quietly.  It doesn’t mean that they never feel angry, but they don’t show it very much, very often, or hardly ever at all.  Since every human being on the planet gets angry, including you and I, here are a couple of things you can do to help manage your emotions:  Choose your battles.  Wise people who hold back their anger are able to assess a situation and decide what is worth getting angry about and when they should keep quiet.  There are things that every Christian should get angry about, and do something about if they can—and if God directs them to take certain actions.  Even though people can be extremely passionate about situations and issues, remember that people are made in God’s image and we are called to love everyone— even if we disagree with what they stand for or believe in.  Don’t respond immediately.  When we face a situation that makes us angry, we naturally want to lash out in the moment.   But, don’t!  Take a breath, walk away, do whatever you need to do to keep from responding negatively in the moment of anger.  Then, once you’ve considered an appropriate, Christ-like response, explain that you are angry at the situation, but not the person.  For those who may get angry quickly, there are tools you can use to help manage your anger—consider working out or running to let off some steam.  You can also talk to a trusted adult or friend who will pray with you when you need help.  Sometimes, even just separating yourself from a situation can make a big difference in how you react.  You will find that many things are just not worth getting, or staying, angry over.  God has given us so many tools in His Word that help us in every situation in life.  His desire is to walk with us through all of our emotions and in every situation.  God is with you, even when you’re angry and you can always turn to Him to help you.
