The Business of Being with Paul Cassimus

By Paul Cassimus

Welcome to the Business of Being podcast. My name is Paul Cassimus, and I believe that everyone is on a path in life. Growing up, I always loved movies that involved showing someone’s origins. You know, Movies like Batman Begins, Star Wars, & the 36th Chamber of Shaolin that show how a character becomes a hero. Today I speak with entrepreneurs, CEOs, and business owners about their life in business to learn what it takes to be successful, looking at both their wins and struggles to discover their unique hero’s journey in business.

Women network differently. And quite frankly, most of us hate networking all together, but now more than ever we recognize that having a supportive community is a vital human need.

Following a successful 20 year career working in the world of corporate media giants in the UK, Matt wanted to work in an environment where there was less focus placed on politics and more importance placed on being good at your job.

After a painful learning experience while working for some unscrupulous ad agency owners, he decided to create his own agency, where transparency, integrity, and generally being good human beings was the culture.

Since niching the agency just 2 years ago to be more focused on FB ads - he now has 10 fantastic team members from every corner of the globe who work collaboratively to serve clients with outstanding results and the values Matt has set since day one.

Employee Engagment, Starting a Biz During 'Rona, and the Comparison Trap - Same Page HR Founder Matthew Tanner

Employee Engagment, Starting a Biz During 'Rona, and the Comparison Trap - Same Page HR Founder Matthew Tanner

Today’s guest is Matter Tanner, founder of Same Page HR, a company that provides fractional HR services to companies.

Matt’s had an interesting journey to starting Same Page, starting off out of college working a lot of random jobs in random cities before joining a giant corporation which he ‘kinda hated for 7 years’ before joining a start-up popsicle company called King of Pops which he ‘kinda loved for 7 years’

He then started working at MailChimp, which my version of the story is that they gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse to pull him away from King of Pops, Matt's super humble and probably would tell it differently.

He then left MC to work for another start up when WHAM! Covid hit like a ton of bricks and he found himself back on the job hunt.

Rather than start searching for jobs again, he decided to start his own company and has grown incredibly in the past year.

Really excited for this conversation. Matt is a friend, a colleague, a mentor, and someone I’m lucky to know.

"I don't spend my time to do things to then not have them work out." - AnnMarie Grohs, Owner of BOHO Studios

"I don't spend my time to do things to then not have them work out." - AnnMarie Grohs, Owner of BOHO Studios

Today's guest is AnnMarie Grohs, owner of BOHO Studios in Richmond. AnnMarie started BOHO while working at Morton’s Steakhouse 8 years ago and was one of the very first of it’s category back when boutique fitness studios were barely a thing.

Boho now has multiple locations in Richmond and AnnMarie gets frequent calls from developers to bring her business to new developments in other states.

I absolutely loved this conversation with AnnMarie about how shows grown and adapted over the last years, especially during the ‘Rona, and my favorite story is when she talked to her bank in 2019 about a new location. The banker didn’t even really look at any of the financials and just said, “whatever you need for  funding, we’ll do it.”

Lots of amazing stuff in here from a brilliant and successful business owner, check it out!
