Don Roose splits time in a few world-wide locations each year. But recently, he really expanded his passport on a journey around the globe with his family. The Iowa State Fair is the quintessential gathering of agriculture, food and entertainment. We will take the next several episodes to talk with various commodity groups that have a presence on the grounds in Des Moines. The Iowa beef industry may not be the biggest in the nation, but it does spread influence all across the country. We talk with Chris Freland, the executive director of the Iowa Beef Industry Council, about market opportunities, growth in the industry and her favorite item on the menu at the Cattlemen's Beef Quarters.

A movement to split the Golden State into three parts highlights the major diversity in the state. Colleen Bradford Krantz was again on the road again chasing three stories. Two of them we can talk about now, the other is one we're still dancing around to reveal full details.

Adam Wright went to college to play football. Shortly into his playing career, he decided working was more important for life after the last whistle. His internships and part-time work with energy companies in the Omaha area eventually led to full-time employment following his NFL career. Wright's most recent promotion was to CEO of MidAmerican Energy. As Wright tells Paul Yeager, just because his playing days are behind him, plenty of gridiron lessons translate to corporate America.
