10: Wealthbuilding Tip - Can you really buy time?
Can you really buy time?! YES! You can! One of the greatest lessons I learned about what time really meant to me was a story about Starbucks. Each morning I was going to Starbucks for my regular Venti sized coffee to start my day off. I would drive to Starbucks, wait in line for about 15 minutes to order, then wait for my drink for about 5-10 more minutes, and finally left to carry on with my day. So, approximately, Starbucks in the morning was taking me about 30 minutes each morning. I did an exercise to find what each second, minute, hour, day, week, month, and year valued in $$$ to me. I did some calculations with that number and found out quickly how much money I was losing by waiting in that damn Starbucks line. Thank goodness Starbucks is looking out for all of us and has this thing called an app where you can order ahead of time to save yourself two thirds of that time you spend waiting in lines! Brilliant, huh?! This story just scratches the surface of how you can be more intentional with your time. So, what is a Handcrafted Solution anyway? Well, it's how my team does real estate! Everyone has their own story, right? Right. 7: What is a Mastermind?
This week's episode on the Purpose Driven Real Estate Podcast, Paige and I discuss the typically-overused term "mastermind." It seems like the word "mastermind" means different things to different people. Often times, a "mastermind" has a moderator. The moderator is a person running the "mastermind" group and providing value to the group in order to help the group keep each other accountable, share ideas, collaborate, and help make their businesses better and even their personal lives better. There are plenty of other definitions of mastermind, like... A group that gets together for lunch monthly, quarterly, or annually. A paid for group of entrepreneurs that is directed by a facilitator who arranges speakers topics, and content (most used version it seems like). An online version, meet up, or traveling mastermind. As simple as two people getting together brainstorming ideas and keeping each other accountable. My experience of being in Chris Harder's For the Love of Money Mastermind has truly challenged and changed my life both in real estate, as an influencer, a leader, and an entrepreneur. It has served a huge impact on my life because of the 30 entrepreneurs involved in this mastermind from fitness to technology to doctors to speakers to authors to network marketers to chiropractors. I don't believe anyone is self made. Everyone needs a coach, an influence, a mentor, or a group that is bribing them to the next level. Here is a quick list of high level masterminds to check out! And the reason being is that when you invest in real estate it's all about the deal or the purchase and it's about the long-term play. It's never really about the short-term play, unless you're flipping homes and then it really matters is whether or not it's a good time to invest. 5: How to Become a Home Owner
In this week’s episode, “How to Become a Home Owner,” Paige and I talk about how a change of setting and mindset allowed Paige to buy her first home. From “I didn't feel like it was attainable yet,” to “Okay, I'm going be flexible and buy something that I can hold on to long-term.” “I mean the benefit is that instead of going and renting something and paying somebody else, paying into somebody else's mortgage– I am now paying my own mortgage,for now, paying my own mortgage. It is my asset. I get to keep it long term. And eventually, someone else is going to pay off that asset for me. What if you could turn your adversities into your advantages by changing your mindset? “…They think that things happened to them, and not for them.” In this episode, Paige and I discuss turning your most difficult life situations into opportunities for growth. I happen to know a thing or two about adversity and loss from personal experience. From losing everything in 2006 and finding himself in tremendous debt, to breaking my neck and nearly becoming paralyzed in 2008, to losing my father to an aggressive form of cancer in 2015— I have been through a lot. “Make sure that you’re using your adversities to your advantage; and if you're currently going through an adversity, really try to have the faith and surround yourself with good people.
