In the light of the compelling interpretations discussed previously, we continue to ask whether we should view both Esther and Mordecai as heroes or compromisers. It is clear that the answer is not that straightforward, yet, we do not simply want to fall into a simple "neither nor/ either or" answer. Hi PDT Podcast listeners, it has been quite some time that we have last uploaded an episode but we are glad to say that we may be quiet but not gone. In this special episode, we asked pastor Heru to share his experience and thoughts about his visit to Sarang Church in Korea where he had joined a 2 weeks seminar regarding church discipleship. Sarang church is a church that had grown to about 60,000 members, mainly through their cohesive and rigorous discipleship program and we, in the podcast, think that its something that we should share as well to more believers in Indonesia. In this episode, we continue our discussion regarding the creation account in Genesis. We start by addressing the concern of some that reading the Bible in its commonality with other ANE stories actually sheds the Bible of its distinctiveness. Then, we dive into the text of Genesis to show that its purpose was not material but functional; in other words, the creation account wants to portray a home and not just merely a house. We kick off the season with a new series, "Reading the Beginning", where we will explore the creation account found in Genesis 1-2. The intent, however, is not merely to explore but to bring readers of the Bible to understand how the original recipients of this story would have understood it. We believe that by going back to how the creation account was designed to be understood, Christians will be able to avoid making false assumptions with regards to the story and, of course, to better understand the Bible. Part 2 of our Christmas special where we discuss the topic of the virgin birth. In this episode, we continue briefly on the matter of prophecy, then, explore the challenges against the virgin birth in the context of interpretation and translation.
