I am a meditation teacher, mindfulness coach, sound healer, yoga specialist, and with these and other modalities, they have helped me to truly find peaceful wellness within. Ep. 10 - The Places That Scare You + Metta Meditation
In this episode, Deb shares on the book, The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times by Pema Chödrön. This will be the next book in the Peaceful Wellness Mindful Book Group. In the book, Pema Chödrön offers guidance for coping with the difficult moments in our lives--showing us how we can soften our hearts and open us to greater kindness. Deb cites her own protective walls that were built tightly around her from prior abuse, trauma, hurt, betrayal, grief and more. She realized that not only did the walls keep her safe but also it kept others outside. Through practice, she realized how precious her own heart really was. Ep. 09 - Be Fully Aware of the Present Moment with Mindfulness
In this episode, Deb looks at the myths and mistaken beliefs around meditation and mindfulness. She discusses the benefits of a mindfulness meditation practice as well as an opportunity to learn with a short practice. When you can be fully aware of the present moment, you are able to release judgments, practice compassion, get out of the auto-pilot mind and its overreactions, and find a sense of calm abiding. Join Deb for the February 28 Days of Insight as she teaches and provides the practice of Insight (also known as Vipassana) Meditation. You can join daily or as often as you like. In this episode, Deb reveals her recent loss and shares the tools she is using to work with her grief. Grief can arrive from the death of a loved one, a divorce or betrayal, an end to a relationship, a job loss or other loss of income, and health and lifestyle changes due to cancer or addiction. Mindfulness, RAIN, and movement are keys to self-care as one walks the journey of grief, no matter the form. After coming out of a bad relationship, Lauren found the path to a new life, one of self-love and self-care. As her confidence continued to build, she found her "inner badass"and the means to accept herself. Lauren encourages all women to take time for themselves, embrace the beauty that you are, and find that confidence and claim what is yours. In this episode, Deb presents the importance of honoring our heart which is the home of our emotions. In Deb's experience, many times she did not know what she was feeling emotion-wise. In this episode, Deb shares how we run interference to our true nature when we run on autopilot. If we can make room, even a sliver, for love and gratitude, our lives would be drastically different.
