3.47: Blood-Red Battle in 'The Last Duel' and 'Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice'
Hi everybody, this one is an extended discussion of a recent movie that I watched this week (The Last Duel) and a sort-of recent video game I have been playing (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice) that specifically gets into some of the things that we can bring into RPGs, especially RPG combat, from those things. Hope you enjoy!

3.46: Journal: I Know Your Footsteps, Old Man
It's another journal episode! This one covers a good chunk of time where I was sick, so those recordings are a bit of a downer IMO, but there's a wonderful story arc where I recover from sickness over the course of the episode! Yay! 3.44: Journal: All Our Yesterdays
Hey everybody, it's another journal! And another episode that's too long, but oh well! This one covers about 2 weeks of journaling, including a number of my project ideas from the past 2 weeks and some discussion of books I've been reading! Hope you enjoy! If you'd like to donate to support reproductive rights in Texas, I encourage you to do so here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/txfunds If you're an RPG purchaser like me and you want a great deal on a bunch of games to support reproductive rights in the US, this itch bundle is a great way to buy a ton of games and support a great cause: https://itch.io/b/1375/ttrpgs-for-reproductive-rights

3.43: H-Hour, D-Day, & Calls
Hey everybody, this one is a bit different than my recent episodes, and also much longer than I had planned but oh well. The first section of the episode is a bit about June 6th, 1944, since yesterday was June 6th, 2022, and I wanted to say a few words about that anniversary. After that we have a ton of calls from fine people and good friends of the podcast, including Jason C. and Che W. and Rich F. Finally there's a short outro where I talk very briefly about podcast plans and ideas before closing the episode up.
June 07, 2022
3.42: Journal: Typhon's Brood
More journaling! This one is composed of less days with longer recordings, which goes against my goal of short regular recording sessions but I had a rough week so falling back on old habits is to be expected. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
May 30, 2022
3.41: Journal: Vivimancers Amongst the Dead
More journals! Journals for the journal god! It's more about me and how things are going in my life, so if you like that sort of content you'll love this episode!

3.40: Sapiens & Lewdens
With apologies to Johan Huizinga, and calls from Karl (GMologist Presents) and Jason (Nerd's RPG Variety Cast), both excellent podcasters and great friends. As mentioned, if you're a silly person and want a bunch of my old audio, email me at PellamsWasteland@gmail.com and I'll send more audio than is reasonable to whatever email address you'd like. 3.39: Journal: His Cubits, My Arm
It’s more journal! You probably weren’t expecting this until Saturday! I guess King Pellam stole a march on you! Anyway it’s another episode of rambling and journaling with a long section at the end from walking, because apparently walking and talking to my phone is good for me. Stay frosty everybody!

Live from Pellam's Wasteland: A Podcast About the Things I Love, by Arlen Walker
This episode is a trailer for Live from Pellam's Wasteland, so that new arrivals who may not want to sift through the back catalogue have an introduction to the Live from Pellam's Wasteland project!
May 17, 2022
3.33B: The Deep Responds, or, More Calls!
Herein I respond to even more callins from fellow podcasters, particularly Che & Jason!
May 16, 2022
3.38: Journal: Ghost of Douglas Past
Hi everybody, this is a little bit different than my usual stuff, or rather isn't that different but is packaged differently. My buddy Che Webster of Roleplay Rescue (an excellent podcast, far better than mine) does a series called 'GM's Journal' with a week's worth of journal audio recordings released as a single episode. I thought I'd try something similar, at least for a little while. So this is the first Pellam's Wasteland Audio Journal, and despite my intention to record 10 minute check-ins one chunk is almost a hour long. Oh well. Hopefully you enjoy, and check in soon (probably Monday) for a new episode of non-journal stuff!

3.37: This Triton of the Minnows
The title comes from Shakespeare's Coriolanus. Big thanks to Jason of the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast for calling in. This one is mostly just rambles and chatting about my projects, though there's a bit of other stuff (including some politics, so consider yourself warned). Anyway hope you enjoy and I should be back on the air on Monday! If you'd like to donate to support reproductive rights in Texas, I encourage you to do so here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/txfunds If you're a creator on itch and haven't seen this game jam and bundle, check this one out: https://itch.io/jam/bundle-for-reproductive-rights

3.36: The Creativity Shieldwall
Waddup, this one's a mess but like me it's a hot mess. I don't know quite what that means but oh well. Anyway I talk about writing and thinking and podcasting and gaming and all sorts of stuff in this one, so check it out! The blog post I mentioned: https://lukegearing.blot.im/violence If you'd like to donate to support reproductive rights in Texas, I encourage you to do so here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/txfunds If you're a creator on itch and haven't seen this game jam and bundle, check this one out: https://itch.io/jam/bundle-for-reproductive-rights
May 09, 2022
3.35: Die for Goodness/Live for Crime
It's another callin show! Today I've got calls from Jason and Brian and we're chatting about all sorts of cool things! The title comes from Shakespeare's Sonnet 124, which you can read here: http://www.shakespeares-sonnets.com/sonnet/124 (or any number of other places, including your Complete Works of William Shakespeare sitting unopened on the bookshelf).
May 06, 2022
3.34: Rock 'Em and Sock 'Em and Write 'Em
Hey everybody, I'm back! And a day early! This episode has no one else on it which means I get to talk about whatever I feel like and ramble till I have a sore throat. In all seriousness thanks for both the recent callins and the listening to the callin shows, Live from Pellam's Wasteland is not the same without each and every one of you. Anyway in this one I mostly talk about habits and the idea of habits by design and habits as an ounce of prevention to replace habits as a pound of cure and the mental health value of creative writing. Also I'm gonna write a bunch this weekend, so hold onto your socks lest they be rocked off. You've been warned.

3.33C: The Deep & The Shallow, or, Why Am I Like This?
Another long winded response to a bunch of callins, once again centered on Jason and Che's calls! Thanks so much to the two of them (and to everybody who has called in recently)! I'm planning on Thursday's episode being an all me ramble cast, so if you prefer me rambling without prompting to me rambling in response to other people, keep your eyes peeled for that!
May 03, 2022
3.33A: A Voice from the Deep, or, Call and Response!
Herein I respond to a bunch of callins, although I have a bunch more to respond to so that will be in tomorrow's episode, 3.33B! Thanks to Che, Jason, Spencer, and Colin for calling in and giving me things to ramble about!
April 30, 2022
3.32: The Ocean Disturbed by the Titan's Blood
Herein I talk about religion in RPGs. IMO the first half is less good than the second half because the second half gets into weird mythology stuff and the first half is all 'talk with everybody at the table about what they're comfortable with.' Anyway hopefully you will enjoy at least 50% or so of this episode!
April 26, 2022
3.31: Turning Gold Into Fool's Gold
Herein I ramble about a bunch of things, like my health and gaming projects and Harnmaster and my time as a student in high school and college. Maybe something in here is worth listening to.
April 21, 2022
3.30: In Praise of Playing Games as Written
Herein I talk about the idea of a value in attempting to engage with a set of game rules as written without significant houserules or tablerules or changes from the 'game' as it is set out in the text, as well as what I see as the importance in engaging with the game as written when evaluating games (and the importance of including opportunity cost in your 'Was this game fun?' calculation). I don't know that I did a great job communicating my points with either discussion, but maybe I'll come back to these ideas after chewing on them a little more.
April 11, 2022
3.29: From YouTube: As March Ends, So Too Does March Character Creation Mayhem
Herein I discuss a project that I did for my YouTube channel over the course of the month of March for over 2 hours. Consider this a sort of index for the project, a way to engage with a smaller portion of the greater whole.
April 05, 2022
3.28: SPECIAL GAME SHOW EPISODE: Which GM Will Become the King of Pellam's Wasteland? Tune in to Find Out!
Today I'm rating 10 different GMs on their ability to GM RPGs. This is definitely a totally fair and balanced rating system and not at all arbitrary rambling about my online friends. The GMs rated on this show are: Karl of the GMologist Presents podcast Hobbs of Random Screed and Hobbs n' Friends Ray Otus of Plundergrounds Joe of Hindsightless Che of Roleplay Rescue Daniel of the Bandit's Keep media empire Evil Jeff of Minions and Musings B.J. of the Arcane Alienist Colin of the Spikepit podcast and Jason C. of the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast Which one will take home the crown (and get stabbed by Balin)? Tune in today to find out!
April 01, 2022
3.27: Back to the Lab Again
Herein I talk about health, podcasting, youtubing, playing video games, and all sorts of other stuff I like. Next episode will probably be either religion in RPGs or a callin show, we'll see which comes down the production line.
March 29, 2022
3.26: Sacrificing People is Bad, and What Myths & Combos Will Survive the Apocalypse?
In the first part of this episode, I talk about why human sacrifice is bad but also difficult to combat/pass easy judgement on. In the second part, I talk about myths that are reinterpreted history and also dope attack combos in Batman games. Both parts are responses to calls from Jason C. of the NRPGVC!
March 24, 2022
3.25: Calls, Plays, And a Codex!
Herein I respond to a couple of callins from Jason C. and Che W. I expected this episode to be more about human sacrifice in gaming but as I explain in the intro I kind of had trouble with that plan, so this is what I did instead! Maybe human sacrifice will be on the docket in the near future...
March 22, 2022

3.23: Discussing Jason's February Callin Contest (NRPGVC 320), Pt 2! Now Even Longer!
Jason C of the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast and I got together to discuss a recent project on his podcast, where he asked his listeners to call in with their 3 favorite RPGs and a bit about why (more than a bit in my case, but you know me). The two charities mentioned in this discussion were The Crush Foundation: http://www.thecrushfoundation.com/ and Forgotten Angels: https://www.forgottenangelsflorida.org/ and both are excellent charities well worth your support! P.S. There's another extra intro on this episode, which makes it even longer than it already was, but at least I apologized for how long this episode is there. Thanks for listening!
March 19, 2022
3.22: Too Many Calls! (Please Send More!)
Herein I respond to callins from Jason (NRPGVC), Che (Roleplay Rescue), and Barney (Loco Ludus), all excellent podcasters in their own right who you should listen to. I also talk a bit about what's going on with me/my health situation (it's all good news, don't worry), so for anybody who cares about that there's some of that for you at the end! I am also flirting with the idea of creating an additional solo play podcast, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on that subject!
March 17, 2022
3.21: Workflow Redesign and Alone with All the Games!
Herein I talk about a couple of subjects, but primarily my changing workflow with regard to the podcast (which is probably not super interesting but it is important to me) and my solo play material, including a rough idea for a solo play podcast for everybody that doesn't want to listen to the YouTube videos. Hope you enjoy!
March 15, 2022
3.20: From YouTube: My Discussion with J-M DeFoggi about Glorantha (and everything else)! With a special introduction for the Podcast!
Herein J-M DeFoggi and I get into a long discussion that was supposed to be about how to get into Glorantha as a setting for RPGs but ended up being about tons of other things too! Hopefully you enjoy the wild tangents and comparative mythology discussion! J-M DeFoggi's YouTube channel, Iconic Production, can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/c/IconicProduction You can get a PDF copy of his game Jackals here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/344904/Jackals-Bronze-Age-Fantasy-Roleplaying You can get a PDF or print copy of Jackals from the publisher Osprey games here: https://ospreypublishing.com/store/osprey-games/osprey-roleplaying/jackals

3.19: Discussing Jason's February Callin Contest (NRPGVC 320), Pt 1! Also, We Hit 6k Plays on the Podcast!
P.S. I added an extra intro later thanking Jason again (because he deserves it) and sharing that we just recently hit 6,000 total plays of the Live from Pellam's Wasteland podcast according to Anchor! Thanks for being a part of the journey so far, and I look forward to even more rambling and calling and audio craziness!
March 10, 2022
3.18: Another Mess of Call and Response Starring Jason C and Yours Truly!
As mentioned in the intro this particular episode has been through a couple of iterations, but I ended up with so much callin content that it became mostly just that (which is not just ok but actually excellent). Anyway big thanks to Jason for all the calls and giving me stuff to talk about. Jason's podcast, the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast: https://anchor.fm/jason376 The Bruce Timm image I talk about with 'broadcasting standards issues': https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EF9y7eMX0AAs9lR.jpg
March 08, 2022
3.17: Ahead of the Curve
Herein I discuss a number of things. The first half of the episode centers on my physical and mental health, including some weight loss numbers, and the second half centers on my gaming plans and some musings on things to do for the greater 'Live from Pellam's Wasteland' brand, if that makes sense. Anyway I hope you enjoy, and feel free to call in if you have comments or questions or concerns!

Hope you enjoy!
February 20, 2022
3.12: A Ramble about Health, Reading, Projects, and Gaming
This one's all me, and it's basically a ramble about how I'm doing and what I'm thinking about. Starts with a health report and moves into project and game planning by the end.
February 17, 2022
3.11: A HUGE Callin Show! It's HUGE because of my long-winded responses, not the calls, but oh well.
Herein I respond to calls from Jason C of the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast and Karl R of the GMologist Presents, both available on Anchor (and your favorite podcast listening service). Leave a callin like them and you too could get 20+ minutes of me rambling sort of in response to your comment or question!
February 15, 2022
3.10: Part 2 of My Interview with Jean Chandler of Codex Integrum/Codex Martialis
Be forewarned that the audio on this episode is a little rough at times, we had some technical difficulties recording but hopefully it's still worth listening to for you. Jean Chandler stopped by to talk some more about his games (the Codex Martialis, Codex Superno, and Codex Integrum Player's Guide) although because of time limitations we mostly talked about the original Codex Martialis (and didn't even get very deep into it, because there's so much good stuff in Codex Martialis!). This is an interview/discussion between me and Jean Chandler, the main designer behind Codex Integrum (the company) and Codex Martialis/Superno/Integrum (the book). It ends a little abruptly because we had some technical issues but I'm hopeful that we'll be able to pick up the thread soon enough and get even deeper into those games and medieval history and other awesome stuff! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/2481/Codex-Integrum-LLC
