Holistic health, growing up, and new people!
Randalyn's Notes:
This week, I sat down with my friend, Aquinnah Bree and chatted about our experiences growing up and how we're thinking about holistic health in our lives today. We bounced around a lot and left a lot of cliff hangers, so be prepared to hear more from Aquinnah in the future, and lots more on this topic!

Inspiration is everywhere
Randalyn's Notes:
This week Jen and I are talking about inspiration we take from some...eclectic...places. It's one of my favorites because we're able to share some things that mean a lot to us that we've never talked about before.
Jennifer's Notes:
Randalyn sprung this topic on me day of recording and I loved it. I walked over to my bookshelf and pulled off a few of my favorite children's books and we just chatted about inspiration. We mostly talk about children's books of all shapes, sizes and forms, but really the point is you can look for and find inspiration anywhere. We hope this resonates with you!

Why Jen and I Believe In Unconventional Networking
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I share our beliefs on networking, growing a meaningful network, and some unique ways to bring relationships back into the transactional world of business networking.
My favorite quote from this episode went something like this: When I think of networking, it's not about the quantity of people I know, but the quality of relationships I share with them.
Jennifer's Notes:
This was an interesting conversation. We talked about networking, but we got creative with it. We wanted to share how networking can be beneficial (and potentially fun) when you do it in a different way. It's not just LinkedIn cold outreach or attending the latest networking event (of which are hard to come by right now anyway). We hope you get some creative ideas around how to have fun with your networking!

Randalyn's Notes:
I don't know about you, but life can be pretty exciting when you let it! Despite the hard things we face every day, I'm a big believer in the idea that there always being something to get excited over. In this episode, Jen and I share a few things that have us riveted.
Jennifer's Notes:
Sometimes Randalyn and I like to just gib-gab about "stuff". That is exactly what we did here. We enjoyed a break from the structure and just leaning into life. What are you looking forwarding to in the next few weeks?

What Kind of Leader are You?
Randalyn's Notes:
This week, Jen and I talk about a fabulous new tool she's developed to help you better understand what kind of a leader you are. Once you have a better idea of the leadership style you tend towards, we talked about how that comes into play with your team.
Don't forget to take her assessment at: https://alvcoaching.com/leadership-assessment/
Jennifer's Notes:
Leadership on blast! Talking about my favorite subject this week... leadership. Specifically the Leadership Style Assessment I created for Ama La Vida. Please jump on over and take it and see what your leadership style is. Be sure to share it with others you work with and have a conversation around your strengths and blind spots. Communicating in a virtual world
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen talks about a few ways to help improve and adjust our communication to ensure we create the impacts we're aiming for when we can't always see the effect of our words in person. This is one of my new favorites!
Jennifer's Notes:
What makes communicating in a virtual world different? Many things of course, but today we talked about three areas of communication I want you to think about when dialoguing in this remote and virtual world. Putting the focus on body language, clarity of communication and volume/frequency of communication will help set you up for success. Let's communicate to be understood, not just heard.

Transition into Spring - Jennifer
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I love talking about the seasons in our life! In this episode, Jen is sharing what spring means to her and how she uses this time to continue moving forward on her goals.
Jennifer's Notes:
I take some time to ramble a bit about transitioning into spring. Spring is a very reflecting, refreshing time for me. I love evaluating where I am at and adjusting as needed. It may be an adjustment of goals, or it may just be adding on small new challenge to myself. What does it look like for you?

Are you resilient, or are you exhausted?
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I are back! We're talking about being resilient or exhausted, what's the line, how to toe it, and what to do when the end isn't in sight yet.
If you're an overachiever or a go-getter, this episode is a must-listen!
Jennifer's Notes:
What a great conversation to have today as Randalyn and I have been pushing for so hard, for so long, that we were questioning our own level of resilience. I hope the conversation sparks a thought in you on how you may make a healthy change to ensure you are leaning more toward resonance and away from exhaustion.

Adulting 101 - Where to Even Begin...
Randalyn's Notes:
This week on People, Talking People, Jen and I chat adulting. The good, the bad, and the ugly. True story, no one has it figured out, and we're happy to be on this journey with you!
Jennifer's Notes:
Oh what fun it is to talk about #adulting with the lovely Randalyn. Today we get a bit silly and just have a fun conversation. Spoiler alert, the 20 years age gap between us really just teaches us that we all "struggle" with the same things. Perhaps it's just perspective and how you cope that make adulting easier or challenging for others?

Why & how to reflect; Randalyn's perspective
Randalyn's Notes:
This week it's just me!
I take some time to share a few thoughts on reflection, why it's important in my life, and how I practice it. I'll note here that this isn't a step by step guide to reflection, and if anything, it's more about understanding how I view and honor reflection in my personal life.

Why & how to reflect; Jen's perspective
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen took this episode solo, and I'm obsessed with it. If you've struggled with reflection, she's got loads of practical tips and tricks to reflect in a way that is meaningful and exciting to you. If you're looking for a way to develop a practice of reflection, this episode is a great way to get started.
Jennifer's Notes:
I really enjoyed this solo podcast today. Sometimes I find it hard to just talk alone, but reflection is such a fun and easy subject the information flowed easily! I talk about why reflection is important and what you will get out of doing it. I also discuss ways to reflect. One of the key things is, it looks different for everyone! There is no right or wrong way (other than just not doing it). So design a process that works for you. Tune in for those ideas, and jump over to LinkedIn to share with me what works for you!

Productivity, the one word that never fails to send shivers down my spine...In this episode, Jen and I break down productivity and talk about our tips to master it, optimize it, and take control of our schedules. Let's go!
Jennifer's Notes:
What a fun episode this was! I love talking about productivity. This is an area where many people have great opportunity to maximize. I know for me once I aligned my schedule up to my productive time my world just got a whole lot better! The Value of Joy
Randalyn's Notes: If you ask anyone that knows me, they will probably tell you I'm obsessed with the word joy. (I believe the word is powerful and purposeful, and for that reason, it's incredibly welcomed in my life.) When Jen and I sat down to record this, we had other intentions, but we went with the flow, and joy consumed us. I'm hoping as you listen, joy will consume you for what's to come in 2021. Thanks for listening!
Jennifer's Notes: We had planned to talk about celebrating our 2020 wins, and the conversation took a turn. Though we talked about celebrations, we really started to touch on the power of joy and gratitude. Being grateful is a tool that is often underused. I hope you walk away reflecting on joy, how you will celebrate and what you will do to be grateful in the moment through 2021.

Transparency & Honesty
Randalyn Notes:
Flying soloing on this one. 2020 brought me a lot of opportunities to grow and develop my communication skills. This year, I focused on transparency and honesty, what makes them different, and the place they hold in my relationships. Ready to dig deep? Let's go!
Jennifer Notes:
I really enjoyed this solo episode by Randalyn. She gave some great context around the differences between honesty and transparency and why sometimes you may use one, but on the other. She provided some examples - which I always love for perspective!

How to handle family, boundaries continued.
Randalyn's Notes:
This week, Jen and I chatted a little more about one of our seemingly favorite topics of conversation.... Boundaries. Instead of covering this topic as a whole, Jen and I share some specific things to help you maintain boundaries with your family as the holidays approach. Are you looking for more? Check out our other episodes on boundaries.
Jennifer's Notes:
A continuation of our previous discussion on boundaries, we dove into a discussion around family boundaries in this episode. What makes boundaries with family different, harder, easier? I pose some questions to get you thinking about your approach. And we discuss the hard reality that sometimes no matter how great you are at setting boundaries, family may break them still - even if they love and respect you.

Celebrating successes and rewarding yourself!
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I are talking about one of my favorite things... CELEBRATING!
I LOVE a celebration, and in a year that's been well, less than fruitful, in the way of producing things worth celebrating, it's time to get creative! Today, Jen interviews me about why I celebrate almost everything, and how you can too!
Jennifer's Notes:
I got to interview Randalyn today! She gave some great insights into what it means to celebrate success, why it's important and she shared a few of the ways she celebrates success. Jump over to LinkedIn and share with us the ways you celebrate success too.

Setting goals when we feel like there is nothing to look forward to
Randalyn's Notes:
Goals, what are they? Are they even important? Maybe? Maybe no. I'm undecided, and if you are too, this episode will hopefully help you cast a little bit of vision on your upcoming weeks, month, and year as we prep for 2021.
Jennifer's Notes:
It was great to spend some time today discussing goals. 2020 may have felt like the "skip" button was hit too many times and 2021 is going to be about goals and growth (and a pivot every now and again). This is a great one to listen to whether you are a believer in goal setting or not - as we have suggestions for both styles!

Managing Up (PT1): What is it, why it's important, and where to start
Randalyn's Notes:
This is one of my FAVORITE episodes. Jen and I talk publicly about a conversation we've had for years. Managing up! With Jen's background in career and leadership coaching, she gives us so many nuggets of wisdom on how to properly break down and approach the idea of managing up!
Jennifer's Notes:
I get asked about managing up all of the time. It was great in today's episode to talk about what it is, why it's important, and to begin discussing how to do it. When you understand the value managing up can bring and how to do it in a way that feels good to you, the rewards are great!

Homeschooling perspectives, the pros, the cons, and the in-between
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I talk about our homeschooling experiences! Jen as a homeschool mom, and myself as a tried and true homeschool graduate. We talk about our favorite parts of homeschooling are, and what challenges homeschoolers are currently facing. We wrap up this session with some current dislikes of the homeschooling world and a small piece of encouragement for those in the thick of the homeschooling world. We'll see you again soon!
Jennifer's Notes:
This was a fun one to share with you all; our love for homeschooling both from a parent and student perspective. Though my journey has just started it was fun to share some likes, dislikes, and challenges. I suspect we will discuss this more in the future as I learn more and get deeper into my family's journey. Hope you enjoyed this, come share the learnings even more on LinkedIn!

Giving real people real feedback
Randalyn's Notes:
This episode is just Jen, and she's breaking down what it looks like to give people valuable, applicable, and impactful feedback to help build better habits, improve performance, and deepen your trust with colleagues and the people you love.
Jennifer's Notes:
I'm talking about feedback all alone this week. I enjoy diving into the value of positive feedback, which is often overlooked as a great relationship-building tool. I also dive into how to better give improvement feedback. I hope you enjoy the tips and have a take away you can apply somewhere in your life!

Black, white or grey; Let's talk To Kill a Mockingbird
Randalyn's Notes:
This week, it's just me! I'm breaking down why I LOVE the book To Kill A Mockingbird, and I hope you'll join me. :) I cover 3 main points that are all connected and wrap it up with a reading challenge for each of you! As always, thanks for listening and we'll see you again next week. ❤️
Jennifer's Notes:
I'm loving listening in to Randalyn's words this week and loving the reflection all related to, To Kill a Mockingbird. I mean how cool is that!?! Reflection is the perfect word to recap this episode. Spend some time just thinking in your own unique perspective. She talks about courage and the grey area. Life isn't always black and white. Which is so real for us these days.

How to say no; boundaries part 2
Randalyn's Notes:
This week we're back with another episode about boundaries. We cover a lot and dig a bit deeper when it comes to saying "no", rules vs exceptions, and our personal experiences with people who make upholding boundaries really easy. ❤️
Jennifer's Notes:
This episode was all about saying NO and filled with real tips on how to do it effectively. We share many examples of how you can create a structure to help with saying no. We talk about shifting the focus away from what you're saying no to, over to what you are saying yes to. If you struggle with boundaries listen in today and let us know over on LinkedIn what resonated most with you!
As always, thanks for tuning in today. Don't forget you can connect with Randalyn and Jennifer on LinkedIn.
Where do you even start when it comes to boundaries?!
Randalyn's Notes: Jen and I start a conversation on boundaries! We planned on running through all of it, but the conversation was too good, and the topic too large, so be sure to tune in next week to hear the second half of this convo! In the meantime, this episode covers the purpose of boundaries, some easy small wins you can implement if boundaries scare you, and our personal experiences with boundaries during different times in our lives.
Jennifer's Notes: In this episode (part 1 of a 2 part series) we discuss boundaries. We focus our conversation around the seasons of boundaries and why and how to identify your boundaries. We also touch on creating consistency and habit around those boundaries. Tune into part 2 next week where we discuss relationship boundaries deeper and discuss how and why to say NO!

This year is driving us all to puzzles, literally.
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I had a lot of fun with this episode!
We goofed off, and somewhere along the way, shared a few great insights. If your an avid puzzler or if you enjoy other (semi-outdated) forms of screen-free entertainment, I know you'll love this episode! Give it a listen and tell me what your favorite form of screen-free entertainment is on LinkedIn!
Jennifer's Notes:
Puzzle makers say sales are up 300 to 370 percent over what they were this time a year ago. As a puzzler myself, I love this statistic. But in the grand scheme of things it means we are trying to balance as much screen-free time, as we are with screen time. Time with ourselves and time with our family may be winning right now, and this is a great thing! What's your favorite screen-free activity these days? Jump over to LinkedIn and let Randalyn and I know!

Skills of an Entrepreneur
Randalyn's Notes:
Jen and I are talking about our own experiences with entrepreneurship, what we've learned, a few takeaways, and we give you a challenge to consider jumping off on your own journey to find freedom, resilience, and discomfort!
Jennifer's Notes:
We dive into entrepreneurship and some of the great skills you grow as an entrepreneur. Specifically, we talk about challenging yourself, accountability, prioritization, resilience, and moving out of your comfort zone. Even if you aren't an entrepreneur you will enjoy hearing how these skills can help and be applied anywhere in life.

My Recent Career Transition
Randalyn's Notes:
In this episode, I took a deep dive into my recent career transition! I talk about why I transitioned, how I did it with a focus on supporting the people around me, and why it's okay to be scared when you transition.
Jennifer's Notes:
Randalyn is talking all about her recent career transition. The why and how of leaving her last role. It's deep and reflective, and something anyone that is also going through a transition should do, reflect!

What Makes Someone Worth Following?
Randalyn's Notes: During this episode, Jen and I break down a few things that make someone worth following. We talk about leadership, what it means to be a leader, and you're sometimes more influential as a follower than you are a leader! If you're ready to dig into what leadership looks like, this episode is a great one!

Jennifer's Notes: What makes someone worth following? This is what we address in episode two. Though we just barely scratch the surface, we have some good dialogue around leadership and also a bit on the first follower. Enjoy the bonus of me making up/saying the wrong word completely. I'm confident you'll spot it on the first listen through. 😊 This is likely to be something you will be treated to regularly. Enjoy the conversation, and jump over to LinkedIn and chime into the conversation yourself!
