Here are some effective strategies to increase a business's gross profit margin:
1.      Increase Prices:
One of the most straightforward ways to increase gross profit margin is to increase prices. However, this should be done carefully, taking into account market conditions and the impact on customer demand. Increasing prices too much or too quickly can lead to decreased sales and customer dissatisfaction.
2.      Reduce Cost of Goods Sold:
Reducing the cost of goods sold can help increase gross profit margin. This can be achieved through various strategies, such as negotiating better prices with suppliers, sourcing materials or products from cheaper suppliers, or improving operational efficiency to reduce waste and other costs.
3.      Optimize Product Mix:
Analysing the profitability of different products or services offered and optimizing the product mix can help increase gross profit margin. This may involve focusing on higher-margin products or services, discontinuing low-margin offerings, or introducing new products or services that have higher profit margins.
4.      Improve Inventory Management:
Managing inventory more efficiently can help reduce costs and increase gross profit margin. This may involve implementing inventory management software, using just-in-time inventory systems, or reducing the amount of inventory held to minimize storage and holding costs.
5.   Increase Sales Volume:
Increasing sales volume can help increase gross profit margin, but this should be done without sacrificing profitability. This may involve increasing marketing and advertising efforts, expanding into new markets or product lines, or offering promotions or discounts to incentivize customer purchases.
6.      Implement Cost Controls:
Implementing cost controls can help minimize expenses and increase gross profit margin. This may involve implementing budgeting and forecasting processes, negotiating better payment terms with suppliers, or reducing overhead expenses such as rent or utilities.
Overall, increasing gross profit margin requires a strategic approach that balances pricing, cost reduction, inventory management, and sales volume to achieve sustainable profitability.

Today on the podcast I am sharing strategies to help you turn your customers into repeat, loyal customers, who become raving fans of your business.
This strategy, to build loyal customers, is one of the most cost effective ways to grow the profitability of your business.
Why? Well finding a new customer is costly!
However, having an existing customer reengage with your business and spend more can be very low cost compared to finding that new customer.
Also, if the existing customer loves your business and what you do, they are more than likely going to refer new customers to you.
How can you WOW your existing customers and get them to come back more often, plus send you even more customers?
The following are some examples of how to do this, what are ones you can think of or are already doing in your bsuiness:
1. Personalisation - with technology you can collect a large amount of data from your customers and use this knowledge to personalise the offers you send to them. By using their past purchase data, plus their interests you can specifically send them targeted offers to increase the likely hood of them purchasing from you again

3. Offer subscriptions or membership programs

Today in the podcast we will focus on various strategies that you can implement to BOOM your profit by maximising your Customer Spend.
One of the most effective ways to increase profit is maximising how much a customer spends with you each time they engage with your business. I am sure you have heard the saying "Do you want fries with that?" McDonalds is probably the best example of how a company has trained it's employees to always be focusing on increasing the spend of each customer with one simple question.
How can your business implement a simple strategy to increase the average dollar spend per customer?
The following are some examples of ways you can focus on increasing the dollar spend per customer:
1. Upsell and Cross-sell offers - as in the McDonalds example offering additional products or services at the time of purchase is one of the most effective ways to increase a customers spend. An upsell is encouraging the customer to buy a higher end or more expensive product than the one they were initially considering, cross-sell involves suggesting related products or services that complement the one they are already buying.
2. Bundle Products or services - Telus is great at this, when I signed up for home internet, I then received a call from a sales rep and ended up purchasing TV and my mobile bill all for a discounted rate and with additional credits.
3. Loyalty Programs - incentivizes customers to spend more to get additional discounts or rewards.
4. Limited Time Offers - creating urgency can encourage customers to spend more than they might not have otherwise so that they don't miss out on the special offer
5. Personalisation - this is a very popular strategy at the moment, people want to feel special and that they are not just a number, by personalising their shopping experience and offering them products or services specifically for them they will be incentivised to spend more.
6. Add-ons and upgrades - adding this to existing products can increase a customers spend, for example for just an additional $10 per month upgrade to the premium version of Netflix

How do you do this? I believe having a clearly mapped out sales process is key. That way anyone in your organisation can convert prospects into customers.
What goes into this sales process? Let me share my ideas with you today, and they include:
1. Understanding your target audience, what are their pain points, what problem do they want solved, how does what you offer solve this for them?
2. Create a clear Value Proposition for your products & services, and how they solve their pain points from above, that way it is a no brainer for them to engage with you.
3. To help make the buying decision easier for your customers, create social proof. Do this by using reviews, testimonials, case studies and other forms of social proof to make your prospect feel more confident in spending money on your products or services.
4. Create a sales funnel for your business that increases the chance of your prospects converting into a paying customer, and creates a visual sales flow for your business.
5. Follow up, follow up, follow up!

64. My key learnings from the BIG Move

2023 for me started with a BANG!!!

Almost two months into the new year, and I am only just coming down to earth after what was the big explosion in my life our relocation to Vancouver, Canada.

The planning began mid last year when Dan received the opportunity for a new job in Vancouver. It took us a few weeks to accept the offer due to personal reasons, but once we did the planning began.

I love to plan and I especially love the software Airtable to plan with. I started to create our Canada Airtable Base, and put everything I felt we need to do before we were to fly out on the 11th January.

What were my three big takeaways from relocating our whole lives to a new country, a new continent on the other side of the world.

Take Away Number 1:
- Even with the best planning, things can be missed and you need to be able to be nimble and adaptive as the plan rolls out

Take Away Number 2:
- It is important to have regular team meetings to review your goals, your plan and your progress, add items to the plan and remove things not necessary. Keep the BIG vision in mind to inspire the team into action and forward momentum.

Take Away Number 3:
- It is important to be sensitive to all members of the team, understand how they work, what makes them stressed, happy, sad, productive and committed to the plan

Take Away Number 4:
- When things become tense and stressful, have  way to diffuse the energy. Keep working on your mindset, exercise and breath daily.

On arriving in Vancouver our plans ended, now we are settling in, there is a long list of items we need for the home, including a car. However, with each week we are feeling more and more settled, and by being sensitive to each of the team members needs, including lots of hugs and kisses, we as a family team are making progress.

63. My 3 words for 2023

Welcome 2023 (maybe a little late, but I will tell you why)!

Wow, what a way to start the year, packing, organising & sorting to relocate with my family to Canada and now we are here, getting settled in our new home.

At the end of the year, normally I would spend time planning, setting intentions, reflecting on the year just past, reviewing what worked, what didn't work and what I want to change for the new year.

I would spend time journaling, and setting my big goals and intentions for myself & my business.

However, at the end of 2022, with everything going on with the BIG move, I had little time for this reflection and planning. My whole focus was on the move making sure we were ready to fly out on the 11th January 2023.

In saying that though, I did take time to reflect on what WORDS I wanted to take with me as my focus in the new year. What three words I will use as my guiding light, my true north.

In today's podcast episode I will be sharing with you my 2023 THREE WORDS. Why I have chosen them, what they mean to me and ask you to take time to reflect on what three words you will chose for this year.

So let's go, let's keep the momentum of 2023 going, a year I believe will be one of change for many people.

Running a small business often feels like you have to wear all of the hats.

From CEO, CFO, Marketing Manager, Sales executive, technician to the customer service & admin officer.

Sometimes things can get a little overwhelming and you don't know where to focus your time for the best & most optimal outcome.

However, often, we lean towards doing the things that we are best at and feel most comfortable doing. Often leaving the most important jobs, the ones that we may not enjoy, until we are too tired, can't be bothered and have run out of time.

For example, making sales call is not my most favorite part of my business. To be honest, right now though it is the most important part as I am still in the initial launch stage of the business.

So how do you know where to focus your time for the biggest impact in creating the success you desire?

Where is your time best spent at each stage of your business?

What do you need to start doing, stop doing, or do more of to have the best results?

This comes back once again to the current stage of business you are in, as discussed on the previous episode about the growth curve, depending on where you are at will depend on what area to focus on.
