09 - Deep dive into API testing
When you have just cooked up that shiny new API and want to put it to production use, you may want to test it.  In this episode, we share our thoughts on multiple API testing tools and their (dis)advantages so you can have a look yourself which one is the most suitable for your needs.  This is part of a mini-series about the different approaches to API testing and documentation using Postman, Talend and Swagger. This might be the last bit of the mini-series now unless most of our listeners are interested in this kind of thing. If you want to hear more of this, please leave us a note or comment and we shall make more! How are you testing APIs? Are you working test-driven? Have you considered using your test sets as the documentation of your API? Share any thoughts that come to mind, on our website pimpmyapi.com or find us on our Facebook page. Reach out to us if you feel strongly about anything we said, or if you have suggestions on what we should talk about. *teaser: we are (still) working on a new website where we will have show notes where we can link all tools and tech mentioned and you will be able to comment on each episode.

07 - Communication tools and API testing basics (testing mini-series #1)
Ever wanted to communicate with your client and your team using the same tool? We touch on this problem and present a surprising contender in this space.  Then we quickly context switch to today's main game.  You're just starting to play with a new API or creating one? You need some tools to be able to play around with these APIs.  Let's do a comparison between desktop and cloud-based API testing tools.  Guess who will be the desktop API tester today? BINGO! It is indeed Roland. We will make this a mini-series about the different approaches to API testing and documentation using Postman, Talend and Swagger so stay tuned for the next ones which will show you how to create automated tests and also how is Swagger's approach different to the other two. If  How are you testing APIs? 05 - Full featured development environment in the cloud? Who still uses local apps anyway?
The web evolved significantly, especially in the last few years. From the point when "Web 2.0" was invented changes skyrocketed and the widening of this horizon never stopped since. You could do an increasing number of things in your browser.  Today we take on this subject form the software developers' point of view as nowadays even development itself can totally happen using only one browser. Zoltan - who lives in the cloud fully - aims to convince Roland to try out the new of being. Working fully in the cloud. Let's see if the "apps for everything" guy is open to take the plunge and give the fully-cloud-native life a try? Do you do everything on your local? Do you already live in the cloud? If not, would you give it a try? Let us know! Share any thoughts that come to mind, on our website pimpmyapi.com or find us on our Facebook page.   Reach out to us if you feel strongly about anything we said, or if you have suggestions on what we should talk about.

04 - Working for an agency or going full-on freelancer? Is there a good middleground?
In our line of work, most of us face a hard decision point when we choose our next gig. There are three major pathways to choose from. Getting a job in the classic sense of the word, joining an agency or be brave and dive into the somewhat lonely world of a freelancer. If you asked yourself the question recently "Will I go full-on freelancer or is that safe employee seat more comforting?" or "Should I join an agency or try being the lone wolf freelancer?" you will surely find value in listening to our view on agency life and freelancing. Both the agency and the lone wolf lifestyle have their positives and their downsides. We strongly believe there's a middle-ground which keeps most of the upsides of both worlds, whilst looses some of the negatives. In this episode, we will try to explain in detail how might that work in our view. Which lifestyle are you most comfortable in? What stage are you in now? Share any thoughts that come to mind, on our website pimpmyapi.com or find us on our Facebook page. The internet is an unsafe and scary place and that's where your API will live. The minute you publish it to the world you can take for granted, there will be hacking attempts ranging from the script kiddie running some random thing on their computer to the person searching for something new to break into.  In this episode, we share some tips on what you should be aware of when starting a new API project, what's the bare minimum in terms of security and what you should think about when your platform grows big!  Enjoy!  Share any thoughts that come to mind, on our website pimpmyapi.com or find us on our Facebook page.  Reach out to us if you feel strongly about anything we said, or if you have suggestions on what we should talk about.  Want to be a guest speaker on the show? 01 - Worst API experience
In this episode, we share the worst APIs we have encountered. Not naming any, don't get it wrong. Just a little story about how bad can it be when you're trying to use even some of the well known APIs in the world.  With some hopefully useful advice, in the end, this first episode wants to show that if you really push for great developer experience it may not be as far out of reach as you might think.
